This is one of my favorite gyms. I love the fact that its Members only so theres not a huge crowd and you dont have to wait on equipment to open up. The staff is friendly and helpful and the owner has been in the industry for a long time. He knows how gym needs to be set up and thats exactly what he did with Maxed Out.

This gym is awesome! Plenty of great equipment, that is in actual working condition, unlike many of the gym facilities in the area. There is sufficient room for each piece of equipment and free weight area so you arent bumping into anyone else while getting your sets and reps in. The facility is always clean and the staff are friendly and professional with a welcoming smile and greeting. The memberships are very reasonably priced with no contract and are a great deal compared to those national brand gimmick memberships with crazy contracts that you cannot get out of. If you are looking for a new gym to call home, check this place out first and you wont need to go anywhere else.

Great gym. The back room with all the powerlifting equipment is a virtual playground. Platforms, racks, weights, specialty bars... and chalk everywhere. Exactly what you need to get strong AF. Main room has all the machines youll ever need and the required cardio equipment. Great gym and great people.

It has everything you could want. Child care is available. Turf area, clean equipment, plenty of space, crossfit stuff, and a heavy lifting room. Would get five stars if the floor music wasnt on. The music is not so great. Overall a nice gym. Good value.

UPDATE: After seeing the misleading response from this business: I do want to confirm that on Monday, AFTER I called several times, and after disputing the charges, I did receive emails indicating refund. When I saw this review response, I was distraught that Id maybe made a mistake by going to my bank. No, it turns out that this business will (instead of answering my calls or emails) LIE on a public review to say that I am stealing from them via charge back when they only refunded the money after they have been slapped on the wrist. Please consider going to another locally owned gym. This review is entirely due to the treatment of my account during COVID-19. I do not recommend this gym due to lack of ethics and what I believe to be genuine theft, particularly for people seeking temporary membership (which Maxed Out strongly advertises to contractors and interns at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Y-12). Long story short, during the pandemic/shutdown, Maxed Out Gym verbally told me in May they would freeze my account indefinitely at no charge (and be able to return once my position was reinstated at the lab), but now I am disputing six full membership charges from August to November. I was charged THREE TIMES in August alone. The full story: I requested (at first via email and later through a phone call) my account be canceled/suspended/frozen in early May (whatever would be best) because I, like many non-permanent folks at ORNL, was removed from access to the lab indefinitely and no longer would find myself in Oak Ridge. After my account was not only charged once, but TWICE during the month of May, I called, spoke to someone by I think the name of Ryan to explain the situation. I was told that to cancel my month-to-month membership, I needed to sign a form in person. This, clearly, was not acceptable during a time in which most of the greater Knoxville area was shut down due to a rampant virus. On top of this, I was NO LONGER LOCATED in Oak Ridge. As a compromise, he offered to freeze my account for until I could return, upon which return, I could apply the extra charge to a future months membership. I informed him that I was uncertain of when I would return and it would likely be several months before my internship resumed (if at all), but he reassured me that I would just need to come in at that future time and inform them of the situation. This seemed like an acceptable situation, so I accepted this and requested an email documenting this call be sent to my account (to which, he said it would be marked on my account), and moved on with my life.Moving forward to present day, as my husband and I are combing through bank statements to see where are costs are for the holidays, I noticed a charge from Maxed Out Gym in November. I checked to see, and sure enough, Maxed Out Gym charged my account November, October, September, and three times in August (likely collecting a back payment from July and June, which were the only months lacking charges since my confirmation that my account was frozen). I have been trying to get ahold of the gym on the phone, but no pickup despite it being business hours. Unfortunately, they never sent me a confirmation email of the modification to my account, I have no other option than to dispute these charges.I really like supporting small business; I continued payment for this business while it was under forced closure. The only reason I wanted to suspend my membership after three months of inactivity was because it was unreasonable to keep paying for a service I no longer could use. I was fully expecting to come back to this gym once I resumed employment in Oak Ridge, but I am so disgusted with the lack of communication and ultimately being taken advantage of as a consumer that I cannot support this business anymore. I fear for other people who were told similar stories as me, but were lied to and continually/eventually charged. Maxed Out Gym stole upwards of $200 from me (and Ill probably be charged again for December), having claimed to have frozen my account.

I am a personal trainer. I work hard to get my clients the results that they want but I experienced diminishing returns from my personal workout sessions so I hired Maxed Out Fitness to help me revive my fitness program. The program is entirely on line. Things went great! I am down 12 lbs in 6 weeks and starting to have more accountability with my personal fitness session. 5 Stars!

This gym rocks. I came here when I was traveling for a few days and was blown away. The main gym area has everything you could want for traditional lifting, functional fitness and cardio. However, I was blown away when I walked in the back room and found a powerlifting area. It was outfitted with high quality power racks, benches, platforms etc. if you lift big and you’re anywhere near Knoxville this is the place to go.

I love this gym. Came here for business and stayed at the Hilton Doubletree hotel. They had a deal with the gym to offer its guest access to Maxed Out Fitness. But its a real gym, with cardio equipment but a lot of old school muscle building equipment. Plenty of space and equipment that the novice and even pros would smile at.

Because I didnt see anyone specifically comment on this, I wanted to: its fine for a casual treadmiller. I pulled up and thought oh great - Ill feel uncomfortable here because it looks like a bare bones, serious weight lifter gym. There were plenty other casual treadmillers here at 0700. If you stay at the Double Tree down the road, youll get a free coupon to go to this gym!
