I went in to balance and align my tires a newly purchased vehicle. The staff was extremely courteous and attentive which was a plus but I still have to give them one star because my vehicle swayed on the highway to the point that I felt it was unsafe to drive at 70mph. If I hit a small bump the vehicle would shift its position to the point where it almost left the lane.In addition to that the wheels were not well balanced at all. The driver and passenger seats both shook over 50 mph. The next day I brought my vehicle to have the tires looked at since it felt so unsafe at highway speeds. And they printed out the before and after alignment measurements. I’m only writing this review for the safety of future customers this is not intended to bash the staff. Again the staff was extremely polite and courteous which goes a long way but I just simply did not feel safe.

They were $49.99 for a fully synthetic oil change between 20 and $50 less than any other place I found. They had free Wi-Fi were very professional and nice and got me in and out of there. I dealt with sal in North Reading and hes a super nice guy who knows his stuff. They even use well-known name brand oil so theres no reason to not use them. Five stars all the way

I discovered that I had a screw in one of my tires. I called Midas and the guy I spoke to said come on in. I got there and he brought my car into the garage. He repaired my tires with quick plug (he wasn’t able to get my tires off (bolt seized) so he couldn’t patch the tire from the inside. He didn’t charge me anything for the plug. Great service, professional and very friendly. Will go back there if I need auto work.

I was in need of a couple exhaust repairs to my Explorer at a moments notice (which is when most service shops lick their lips and take full advantage of you), but these guys knocked it out of the park. Trust me when I say you should go see Glenn and his team here, they were friendly, fast, and well beyond fair. Whole new exhaust at a great price, in and out in about two hours. Thanks so much guys!!

My wife and I, in the past, have always brought our vehicles to this North Reading location; going back to when Ivan & Christina were the owners. We went yesterday and today. The workers were polite and treated my wife with respect. Total for synthetic oil change (5 & 1) free tire rotation, with applied coupons, was over $70.00 ! YOOWZA Historically, labor charges for an oil change are bundled in with the advertised price. In our case; $59.99 less OUR coupons, plus an oil disposal fee of $5.00. The $5.00 is customary and understandable. Excerpt from Midas web site:The cost of an Oil Change at Midas varies depending upon your vehicle type and the type of oil you need for your car but generally starts at $33.99. You can choose the following options: (our option)5/30, 5/20, 10/30 Full Synthetic Oil ADD $36.00 We were charged an additional $13.50 for labor??? I scanned the add repeatedly and cannot find any wording stating; PLUS an additional labor charge !! Caveat Emptor

Came in for a synthetic oil change, was quoted at 70$. When sorting out payment, I was charged 100$ and given a list of over 500$ worth of work on a car that needed none of it. I get that they have to upsell but the lack of honesty about pricing isnt right. Women avoid this place. Especially dont like that they dont have a price list, everything on their board in the office is blank for price, very sneaky.

I was going to go here in person to ask if my headlights could be aimed, but I decided to call beforehand. They answered very quickly and were very honest. They said they did not have the board to aim the headlights, and they said I could go to any place that does state inspections which I did not know. Thank you for awesome customer service over the phone!

What a joke. Guy told me a half hour for an oil change. I sat there for 45 minutes, they took another car before mine and hadnt even brought my car in by the time I asked for my keys and left. If I had known it would have been an hour and a half I would have just gone to valvoline next door for 10 dollars more and an hour and twenty minutes less. Which I did. Booked hitch installation online. When I came at scheduled time (after three days since booking). They told me that this time is not available, because somebody else booked it. Nobody called me. Final shot is that they told that it would cost $300-400!!! Instruction for hitch says that professional installation should take 20 minutes and 40 min by novice. $300 for 20 minutes. Is that their labor? It is ridiculous. I would avoid this service.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I go in for an oil change and I’m first quoted on the phone the day before synthetic oil is 59.99 and that they are running a sale 20$ off. I booked my entire day because the last time I was in it only took a half hour. I waited 2 hours and said to the guy what is taking so long he said that they do a full car inspection with each oil change. I don’t need a car inspection when the weekend prior I got an inspection sticker why would I want to sit 2 hours and have my car inspected again. It threw off my entire day Then at the end they send you photos of what could be wrong everything they told me I’ve already been told. Then at the end of all this the guy charges me 80$ for the oil change and adds and extra 10$ for more courts of oil. Literally a complete rip off I will never go here again. Not to mention I get in my car there is oil on my leather seats, the tire light is on, and the time is changed just all unnecessary things someone wants to deal with when they go in for a simple oil change???

A few hours later I get a phone call from Ryan saying “Corolla is all set, you can come pick it up”. I asked if it drives and he said yes. I was very surprised, excited and slightly skeptical, because I did have an idea and I was explained where those metal shavings could come from, so I was expecting the BAD news all day !But….I didn’t know that “drives” at Midas means I can go 2 traffic lights without breaking down in the middle of the Main St.I stepped out of the door and John pulled in the car, I asked him : “should I drive it ?” He said - “ I personally wouldn’t “, he explained that it is one of the differentials inside the tranny and recommended to change the transmission. It turned out that Transmission is dead, I barely made a block down the street. Now I do understand why it got so quiet in the office as I was signing the waiver for using my own parts.$577+parts is the cost of my mistake. I don’t blame anyone it is what it is, but “sharing is caring” and that’s what the reviews section is for.Now that I analyzed this situation (while looking for a new car for myself) I do have some questions:As a professional mechanic - wouldn’t you know that something is wrong with the transmission without installing the parts and completing this job ? Wouldn’t one know as a professional mechanic not to start this job, because I was mistaking the original problem ? I have been told however that the release bearing isn’t locked, but Nobody told me that it might not even worth to put it together. No advice was given.Guys did what I asked for, put in the clutch kit and OMG the clutch was smooth as silk it made me smile, but only for a few seconds. )))Could it be that all of us mistaken ? My friend mechanic, myself and guys at Midas ? Maybe….P.S.I do repairs on smartphones/tablets and never charge people if I can’t fix it, as a professional I am able to figure it out and know if it will work or not. If I don’t know, then I tell my customers about it, let them know that is kind of a “hit or miss”, tell them a success rate with a certain repairs, explain fully and as clearly as I can.I always tell my customers if the repair wouldn’t worth it or what consequences will arise (water damage for example) later.Maybe that’s why I am still broke ? )))Either way thank you guys ! Clutch works great, too bad that I need a transmission and it cost more than a car itself.Cheers !

Hi there guys.I will let you judge on this, but I think I got screwed...or….maybe, I screwed myself up ?This review is in two parts. 1st has a 1star rating, 2nd has a 5 star to be fair. Two parts because the number of characters is limited per review.I am just going to share my experience and explain what happened, you can agree with me or not, it’s up to you.Pre-story: (MIDAS didn’t know this story) 4 Months ago I noticed a slight rattling noise coming from the “transmission area” and had a little vibration/pulsation in the clutch pedal when the clutch is disengaged. A good friend of mine who is a mechanic and worked as a mechanic for a number of years (I trust this guy) took it for a ride and told me : “it sounds like your release bearing started to go bad(he didn’t put it on the lift or anything), so you can drive it for couple more months or maybe even more, but even if it goes bad it wouldn’t affect the tranny it’s in the “clutch” (basket) anyway”. I got home, read a few articles online and yes the symptoms looked like it is a bearing problem. Then a few days ago as I was driving on the interstate something started squealing pretty loud, so I thought “Alright it is time to put that clutch kit in that I got”. I barely made it home, that night, but I did )))Next day.I have been asking for recommendations on our North Reading Community page in FB and Ryan (new manager at Midas as he introduced himself) came through. The job that needed to be done was to install Pressure plate, Flywheel, Release bearing and a Clutch disk on 2007 Corolla with 5spd Manual Transmission.I was looking for good price and Ryan offered $550 (with my parts) which was a really nice offer in comparison to other places and of course I agreed. Took the tow to North Reading MA from Methuen and the same day John (mechanic at Midas) started working on the vehicle and I think he is a great guy and a knowledgeable mechanic. Later the same day I had a phone call from Ryan He explained me that I probably should get shift cables replaced because one of them had a little bit of a play indicating that it was stretched, but it wasn’t necessary if I can’t get them.I thought OK, it is expected car has 188.000 on it, but unfortunately (AND THANK GOD !) I couldn’t find them, they weren’t available at any reasonable cost.I have stopped by on the 2nd day (as planned) and guys showed me what the transmission fluid looked like, with all the metal shavings and it was watery and it stunk, stunk really burnt and they were very concerned if something bad is going on with transmission. I have been told that I will find out what is wrong as soon as they will find out. John’s exact words “as soon as I will know - you will know”... (wow it’s a long review, but it’s worth it) --- *SEE *

To find an honest, hardworking, and trustworthy mechanic/car-service is a MONUMENTAL achievement in this lifetime--an achievement which folks can easily go their entire life without reaching. That said, PLEASE allow me to help spare you the trouble and time (and take the *fast-lane* to that peace of mind :::over-the-top-cheesy-wink::: ) for I have FINALLY found it!The Midas in North Reading is without a doubt the BEST place to take my car. Ive moved about 12 times through the years since becoming a licensed driver--and any remotely-acquainted, friend-of-a-friend mechanic Ive met over the years couldnt hold a candle to Codi and José and their crew at this particular Midas location. Beyond the already amazing feat of honest, hardworking, and trustworthy, I have found that Codi and José are two of the kindest and most accommodating individuals Ive ever had the sheer luck of coming across in this industry. I bring my car into service stations like this, always knowing full-well that I am at the mercy of their assurance--hoping their word will be one of honor (for I know NOTHING of the nitty-gritty, nuts and bolts that make a car function--in fact, the only thing I CAN be certain of is my own inept comprehension as the mechanically-savvy attempt to explain what new and expensive damage/mutilation has defeated my practical car this time)... So, try to consider this overly-verbose review/rating as that of a rehabilitated consumer letting go of some of those accrued numbing--albeit rather pitiful--neuroses when it comes to entrusting her car (and consequently *livelihood*) in the hands of complete strangers. And please, PLEASE dont allow my ostentatious style of writing dismiss the validity of my testimony--these are not tall-tales, folks...I just get inspired and compelled to shout from the literary rooftops when I am fortunate enough to witness the genuine acts of decency from the unsung heroes of our society today... and I like to hold onto the hope that just maybe I can remind folks to stop and think for a moment--to look around at the world outside the comforts of their home, and discover how refreshing it feels to shift focus away from the immorality, the lewdness, the ugly and uncivilized...and appreciate the more discrete, humble views of the morality, the civility, the integrity and affability still warming the world we live.PS--Codi, José, and all of you at that Midas: Thank you for your patience with me, your compassion and understanding of financial complications and EXTREMELY generous leniency. Your trust in me will not go unrequited and though it may not mean as much to hear it as it does to me to say it, you can certainly add one more loyal customer to your roster. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
