The staff at Food and Shelter has always treated me with respect and they have been very helpful in providing food, clothing, camping equipment and resources for other necessities needed. This organization has been awesome during my time of desperate need. Thanks Food and Shelter!

This team of normanites steps up unselfishly on an hour by hour daily watch. Everything the have to handle is so different There is no way to prepare for the situations they have to handle. But step up and do it Well cause no one else will. They are so needed in our community. The decisions they make come from the top down April is the first one to the front. When the pandemic set in she was the one who put on the mask and served the food. Not only that but through her leadership and tirelessly putting down the rules we had no virus at all. She also was able to house To find homes for over 30 families. Great job

Was visiting a homeless person of my acquaintance. They do good work. 2 free meals a day. Wish there were more housing for the homeless similar to what they offer.

My case worker has gone to the greatest lengths to get me the help I have needed to keep me from being on the street.

This place is doing all they can and need help and volunteers..... come down and serve a tray.

Pandemic has really hurt this wonderful place. The people are still great but are limited by what they are allowed.

We were struggling, since the covid 19, the staff was really helpful with diapers and food, my family grateful for food and shelter, thank you very much for the help.

The new location offers a fantastic facility w/ many on site services. The kitchen is neat, clean, & organized. It has modern equipment and plenty of space to produce excellent meals. The dining area is quite large w/ 2 televisions & a piano, for entertainment. They offer free showers and have a free laundry room. They offer household items, personal hygiene items, toiletries, clothes, shoes, baby items, food pantry and more, for those in need. The housing on site is very nice & requires strict rules to follow to remain housed there. Food & Shelter also has housing elsewhere in Norman (apartments & duplexes), for low income individuals & families. All in all, their new facility is great and makes for better assistance from the wonderful staff. Go visit & take a tour. The staff is quite pleased and proud to show off their new facility. Food & Shelter accepts donations of food, clothing, furniture, household items, volunteers time, & money. They are providing an important and much needed service in this area.

Very helpful. Food and Shelter helped me when I was homeless. They gave me food and a place to stay while I found a job. I was able to get bus passes to get back and forth to work. I was able to shower and do laundry. When I got a place to live they helped me get set up in my new apartment. The staff here is always helpful. If you need something they dont offer they will help you figure out what to do. There is no judgement or reprimand for your situation just helpful caring people.

The staff was friendly and quick to address my needs.they try to keep items on hand such as hygiene products every day and do a great job of it only limited by the amount of donations received. I had a nice lunch while there of home made chili, cornbread, veggie salad and a cookie served by volunteers with a pleasing smile. Great place for guidance twords resorces in the community. Really like the place just waiting on mine really been on the hope list and food and shelter for like 5+ years. Also its just weird someone wont speak unless spoken too otherwise didnt say 250 words there entire time indoors but people will try to pick fights and get others into trouble I personally have not a lot of things stolen from me here lately like several bikes and found them to be stripped so I just kinda stick to myself and jam out on my telle phone. Is what it is really nice structure s though it feel like a bunch of vampires up here

Check out this growing community of tiny homes! I recently dropped off donations and was assisted by a resident who was very helpful. They need better signs as I was unable to find the drop off entrance.

Went to the food and shelter today to do a class for my job to help some of their clients to job search and I will say that they were the friendliest group of people the shelter itself is very clean very up-to-date and I feel like they really genuinely cared about their clients that were there very impressive

Staff wonderful and truly care! Good food with help of a staff that relates with everyone no matter the circumstance that brought you to their doors. No judgemental people here.

Awesome people doing great things for our community. Sunny runs the kitchen and she is a really spunky and fun person. If you are looking for a place to get involved with the community this is the place to be.

I helped build all the facility of food and shelter and the review with pictures stated ruining the neighborhood are not taken of that area. This project was built to help the needy and homeless this is for a good cause.

Good hot meal when youre down on your luck

Great people doing outstanding work for the community.

They were kind of rude. Gave us half rotten meat and rotten vegetables. Made fun of my weight under their breath. Made fun of my fiance and berated him for being a veteran. Gave us little choice in what we could get, saying we didnt need it anyway. I know its a food bank, but even then, they should still be kept to a higher standard than potentially killing people with rotten or severely outdated food.

People are nice here. Its a nice relief when ur going thru a tough time.

Very helpful to the community

The neighborhood really is ruined. There is trash being thrown all over the street/field/yards. People are walking in the middle of the street and wont move for cars. People are camping all over in cars/field. I constantly hear yelling. Someone went through my car within the first week the shelter was developed. I am scared to leave my house for fear someone will rob it while Im away because I already have people walking around my yard when Im at home. I think its good we have a shelter for these people but building it next to a neighborhood especially on the east side should have never ever happened. If its too late to move it we need more security guards and public trashcans although that can only do so much.

This is an excerpt from the article [“I would say the things that were most helpful were the meetings with Natalie to review my progress. She saw the fear and uncertainty when she showed me the apartment but she told me I could take it or leave it but that I could get through this. I took her faith in me and held onto it until I could muster my own……………...” ] My heart melted when she said she took Natalies faith until she could muster her own. Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!

The kind of charity that addresses vexing social ills head-on, and does it with benevolence [and FIRMNESS when necessary] - homeless ppl really and truly have somewhere to go, and hang out away from the maddening crowds - and the many anti-homeless attitudes in modern society. here, folks in such dire situations economically can get hugely important things done. theres even an outdoor food pantry/cabinet out front where if you are so inclined you can snatch a good can of protein and maybe something to accompany that. big screen tv in the day rm. - phone - shower - laundry. someone give this org. and award please...

Without fff (food for friends) Id be Hungary and smelly. Thats too all that make that organization .

I had the worst experience with these people when I applied for assistance with paying my rent for one month. Its like calling a radio station to win tickets for a concert. Call, busy, hang up. Call, busy, hang up. Like 100 times before you actually get through to a person. Then when you do speak to them, they treat you terribly. Celeste was awful, unorganized, and unprofessional each and every time I spoke with her. Spoke over me, made me fill out paperwork that had absolutely NOTHING to do with helping me keep from getting evicted from our house. I wouldnt recommend this place to ANYONE ! BEWARE if youre not ACTUALLY homeless dealing with these folks.

Love everything they do for our community!

They kept me alive during 4 years of homelessness, and helped me transition into stable housing.Unfortunately, some reviews here are complaining that it has ruined the neighborhood. What they really mean is that they hate homelessness being visible to them. They want homeless people confined somewhere out of sight where they dont have to look at them.

Tried to volunteer for the Thanksgiving meal but it was an absolute mess. The event was very unorganized and had way too many people. My family and I needed up leaving because when we asked for help they just tosssed is from one person to the next.
