I tried American Barber Lounge after the last person to cut my hair moved away. I was hesitant going to a new place. Upon walking in i immediately felt at ease. They made me feel comfortable ever step of the way and made sure i was happy with what i had.Definitely will be a return client

As for the haircut itself, I was very happy with the results. I finally found a barber that actually listen to their customers. My hairline was not pushed back and my tapper was blended correctly. In addition, my beard was lined and shaped up as I requested.To reiterate, this is a great barbershop! I give it my highest recommendation and would definitely encourage others to give it a try. Been going to Scott for about the last year as my schedule allows it and hes knocked it out of the park every time. Convenient online booking and affordable rates for military, if youre in the Norfolk area, you should be going to Scott for your haircuts.

Great environment, very friendly service, courteous barber. however, only leaving three stars as it sorta seemed to me that, despite what their site claims, the guy doesnt have too much experience with different hair textures. he basically didnt know how to handle my beard (Im white, gingerish beard) so he gave me the standard shapeup for tight curls of black folks hair, rather than consider the texture of my beard and how it grows out much less tightly curled (corners at my jaw began to stand up, I typically cut a lower line and get rid of those, for example). not a game breaker, but enough to lose a star. did fine with my hair, but its just a wide Mohawk so its pretty easy to nail perfectly; almost deducted another star because of how easy it is...but hey, the dude was nice, prices were reasonable, and overall I had a pretty good experience. just hate feeling like I wanna trim my beard the day after getting it trimmed lol. and hey, maybe Im wrong and he just figured thats what I wanted, I probably wasnt super clear or detailed with what I wanted for my beard.will definitely return when Im in town for my noggin but likely bring my beard trimmer from home.

While the barber shop provides a welcoming experience, the quality of the hair cut left to be desired. I’ve been here 3-4 times and haven’t been fully satisfied with the cut most times.I find it hard to believe that all people who have visited this shop had a 5-star experience, as the Google reviews suggest.

With Mr. Drayton you’re guaranteed nothing but respect, a friendly environment, and the freshest haircuts/fades in the Norfolk/VA Beach area. I drive a solid 40+ minutes just to get my haircut from him and every time I walk out his lounge I’m left with the satisfaction of a fresh haircut that’ll get me compliments at my workplace asking where I go and get my haircut. Where do I start? Let’s start at the beginning. I am originally from NY and I had the same barber from when I was 5 until I was 25. I moved to VA in 2015 and since then have been to over a dozen different barber shops. Some good some not too bad and some terrible (in my own opinion). And it never had the best of both worlds. In my opinion I believe a haircut should be easy for the client. I shouldn’t have to worry if my hair is even or if they missed a spot or just straight up butchered my haircut lol.When I found ABL I was so hopeful that I would find my barber...well...I did! Scott was so awesome from start to finish. I had a 6pm appointment and I arrived at 5:55 and he was ready. The appointment was 45 mins and he was done exactly at 6:44.. I love it! I’ve been to barbers where even if I had an appointment I would still have to wait 30-45 mins or even an hour or more. People have stuff to do! 😂Scott was so nice and professional and made me look human again! I would recommend ABL to anyone who needs a professional cut in a great environment. Clean, and professional. And for the price it is well worth it!Thank you Scott for a great cut! Will be back 100%.

Ive gotten my hair cut from Scott 3 times now; its been better each time. He always cuts exactly how you ask, he knows how to fade well, and pays close attention to detail. He also has a lot of time slots open so making appointments is very flexible. He works fast without sacrificing the quality of the cut. The price point is pretty low for everything you get. I definitely recommend Scott, he does good work!

When my hair grew back out I decided to change up my barber and found this place.
