Danny is very professional. He is very knowledgeable about his craft, and he was even able to quiet down my unit, which sounded like a jet airplane taking off. Which my family and I had to live with the sound for almost a year. And none of the other technicians could figure it out. Kudos to Danny. Air specialty is very privileged to have him as an employee.

Very hot summer, ac is not cooling…not a happy household. Called AC Specialty; very responsive and accommodating. Diagnostic appointment scheduled for the following day….but there was a cancellation so technician arrived by noon. Barry was knowledgeable, professional and super friendly. We live in a condo so Barry had to climb a ladder to the broiling hot rooftop; no complaining just got right to it. He was able to diagnose the problem swiftly and carefully explained the remedy. He covered his shoes before entering our condo, could not have been more considerate. I will absolutely call AC Specialty again for service.

We have used Air Specialty in Norfolk for 12 years. They successfully replaced our ancient oil radiator heat system with a natural gas system using ductwork. They installed three high SEER air conditioning systems for our three zone house. This was quite an undertaking in an 81 year old house. Air Specialty pulled it off beautifully.Air Specialty techs come twice a year to check on the functioning of our various systems. He looked at the thermostat, went to my garage and look at the furnace, noticed that the emergency switch on the wall had been flipped off. I had put back a pan on the top shelf next to the switch and had flipped it off by accident. Turned it back on and it started up immediately. He went outside, the unit was running fine, checked the lines and said everything was working fine. Thanks so much for solving my problem so quickly. Feel like a fool for not noticing the switch myself but so happy it was an easy fix.

Called during heat wave my regular air conditioner company could not come till three days so looked in phone book picked air specialty because they been in business for over forty years and very happy I did .Repairman came same day right on time was very knowledgeable about my unit, very courtesy and took time to explain some things my regular repairman never told me and he was beyond nice, needless to say I have found me a new company to call in the future and the price for repair was very reasonable

Update: I have only received 1 phone call, and it was on May 4th at 1:07PM.We had Dan come out to check out our AC unit. We still had cold air circulating the house, but it wasn’t keeping up with the size of our house, so obviously something was wrong. We have a 4ton unit, with an air handler in the attic.First, he told us our compressor was broken. Upon getting a second opinion, we discovered that it wasn’t broken, but it was on its last limb and needed to be replaced soon.Second, Dan originally said he wasn’t able to access our air handler, but after checking our unit outside was able to be convinced that he could go into the attic space and see it.He did go and check out the air handler in the attic.He told us they would need to completely take out a wall to replace the air handler. According to the other company we used for an opinion, they said they could take it out in pieces from ladder access literally right below the unit (we have three holes in the ceiling with ladder access. This wasn’t quoted out to us, so I’m assuming they would need us to get a third party to do the work, but again communication was just not there).Before he left, we did request a quote to replace the compressor, and a separate quote to replace the entire system. On the quote to replace the compressor, he added on a membership fee for over $200, nothing we had previously discussed with him. I’m still not sure what this is even for.He took our spark plugs/fuses. Called him back to discuss bringing them back (husband tried to hook the unit back up as it was slightly working before he left, didn’t realize until then that they were gone) he told us they were dead (not previously discussed before), proceeded to laugh, making us feel silly for asking him to bring them back (he didn’t originally tell us they were bad until this phone call. If we knew anything about spark plugs/fuses or AC units we wouldn’t have called for help) and said he could bring them back but it was pointless.The ladies at the front desk were amazing, and the reason we used the company in the first place. But after having the technician come out to our home, I don’t think we will be using them in the future.As a side note that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing but has been sitting with me the wrong way -while my husband was outside talking to Dan, I called my grandfather would works with hvac systems. I thought it was a pretty high quote to replace a compressor ($2,800) and wanted to get verification this was a standard amount. He made a snide remark to my husband asking who I was calling and if it was family. No offense, but it’s really none of his business.

Five Stars! Received outstanding HVAC service from Dan Hibbert, Air Specialty & Air Conditioning. On July 19, 2021 my air conditioner became inoperable and the house became unbearably warm. The outside unit was fully operational. It had power, the capacitor was in good condition, and the fan blades were turning properly. However, no air was blowing from the vents inside the home. I consider myself a handyman, but I was perplexed. This was beyond my capability and expertise. That night I contacted Air Specialty Heating & Air Conditioning, After Hours Care. On July 20, 2021, at approximately 8:00am, I received a call from seasoned technician and US Army veteran, Mr. Dan Hibbert. Dan and I spoke briefly over the phone and narrowed down the problem area, an inoperable interior fan motor. In light of the issue, the staff worked the schedule and fit me in for a same day evaluation, 2:00pm. Dan contacted me over the phone and arrived earlier than scheduled, 12:00pm. He was highly professional, very hospitable, and extremely knowledgable. Upon inspection, he confirmed that the interior unit fan motor was inoperable and needed to be replaced. The staff expedited the order and the fan motor arrived early. I was scheduled for install on July 22, 2021- very fast. Dan arrived at 2:00 pm, removed the old part, and installed the new fan motor within 40 minutes. He had all the right tools for the job. Moreover, he was fast and efficient. The air conditioner was up and running, and the beach house was back to a frigid 67 degrees within the hour. Thanks Dan for your service and for repairing my air conditioning unit. We had the unfortunate experience of having our central air unit go lifeless just as summer started. Prior to calling Air Specialty, we had seven different technicians from other companies come out and “fix” our issue just to have it go dysfunctional again two or three days later. Suffice to say, we were tired of not having our AC fixed and tired of paying hundreds of dollars for temporary solutions.We finally messaged Air Specialty and Justin responded to my message right away, saying he’d have my info sent over to the office. I wasn’t expecting Reyna to be at my house the next day for a consult, where she pinpointed our problem right away. She was very professional, friendly, and explained everything to us in a way that made the process of purchasing a new HVAC system less overwhelming. They were able to give us a few quotes the same day as our in-home consult. Our install was a week later (parts arrived quick) and they did a very quick, yet professional and neat job. We’re so glad we used this company and will do so in a heartbeat again if we needed to!

I used this vendor to possibly purchase a new HVAC system. The reason being was a previous vendor declared my compressor was shot and being a 9 year old system, that it wasnt worth replacing the compressor, that I needed a whole new HVAC system. That didnt make sense to me so I called Air Specialty to get a second opinion. The first thing that the tech, Reyna, did was to check the capacitor. I actually called this vendor to get a second quote on a new system and to get their opinion if I even needed one. Reyna went out of her way (She was requested by me for second opinion on new system-not a service call) to ensure that it was indeed a shot compressor. It was not! It was actually a inoperable Capacitor. So I didnt need a new system after all, just a replacement capacitor. It is very refreshing to know that there are still honest people working in the HVAC industry. I cannot say enough good things about Reyna and this company. Especially Reyna! She was honest and fortright with me and did not try to hoodwink me with a bogus sales pitch. She was professional and really knew her stuff. I would advise anyone to utilize this company. Especially Reyna as she was honest, tech savvy on HVAC systems and will not try to sell you something you dont need! Needless to say, a huge expense was halted by Reynas honesty and sterling work ethic. She had an old capacitor in her work truck and made my system temporarily work until a replacement cathepacitor could be ordered/installed. Unfortunately the capacitor she replaced gave up the ghost that evening. I had a friend who happened to have a matching capacitor that would work with my system and being so hot I opted not to wait over the weekend to have air specialty install it the following week. I was not charged by Reyna for the awesome information she afforded me and now my HVAC system is good to go. THANK YOU REYNA YOURE AWESOME! I was having some issues with the upstairs unit. I called and had an appointment just a few hours later. We needed a part complete the repair and got it working before lunchtime the following day. Both Mike and Dan were awesome - always stopping to put shoe covers on; even though we said dont worry about it. I called them because my system shut off automatically yesterday. They called me back promptly and the technician (I think his name was Dave) asked me some questions and had me check a couple of things. He told me it was likely the drain line was clogged or the drain pan had standing water. I drained the pan and cleaned the drain line with a shop vac as he suggested. It took me about 45 minutes total to fix it. I really like that this company didnt just show up and charge a service fee. It was an easy fix and saved me some money. I definitely recommend this business!

Awesome company to work with! John Gualdoni was the coordinator and did an excellent job with communicating with us, making sure the project went smoothly, without a glitch. We searched around and got at least 5 estimates and they were the best! and when asked,,Do they offer a military discount,? They said Absolutely and thanked us for our service! We even had to reschedule once, with no hassle or complaints. The outcome was perfect!! They had to make a few cuts in the drywall, but did it with care, and cleaned any mess they made. Used this company to repair my Rheem HVAC system. AIR Specialty was very understanding to my age and health conditions. Reya was sent out ASAP to diagnose the problem.Within 10 minutes, she analyzed the problem as being in the upstairs unit in lieu of the outside unit. She double checked the upstairs unit to be sure and triplechecked with thetechnician at the home office. What outstanding team work!! After agreeing on a solution, the part was ordered and installation was scheduled. The office kept me informed as to when the part would be arriving, and when Reya would be here to install.I would like to mention in past year, I had another HVAC company who dissected the outside unit in my back yard, charged me $987.00 for a reverse valve(not needed) and finally said I dont know whats wrong with it... I had problems with my ac not keeping my upstairs cool. I called the company that installed the unit. they Told me it was working properly and i needed to remove the media filter for better air flow. But around 78 was as good as it gets on a 92 degree day. I decided to get a second opinion from Air Specialty. Mike Lewis was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He ran the gamut on our system, checking every part to see why it was not keeping our home cool. He was able to find some issues that seemed related to the install. He explained what he would like to try, and was up front that it may not completely resolve the problem, but it would be much cheaper than replacing the entire part and likely would show improvement at least. I felt confident in his recommendation. He set up to have a small part ordered and we scheduled the fix for the next business day. He showed up on time, explained what he would be doing and and got to work. After completing the job, he sat down and walked through his post fix tests and they showed good improvement to functionality. But he said we would need to monitor for the week to be sure. Over the next 4 hours, the upstairs temp dropped from 80 to 73. We hadn’t seen below 78 during the day in weeks. It was literally 100 degrees outside and we were basking in the cool crisp conditioned air supplied by modern technology and Mike Lewis. 11/10 would call again.

All around fantastic service! Everyone I encountered was extremely nice, personable and professional. Dan and the wonderful women in the office orchestrated a new system to be delivered and installed in less than a week. The installation crew was on time and professional and I had no issue with being at work while they installed my system. I cannot say enough good things about this company!

I called that morning about an heating problem and they came that afternoon. They were very prompt and courteous and cleaned up after themselves and the price was right. I would highly recommend air specialty to any new customers.

Reyna was such a delight to work with assisting me with fixing my gas vent pipe on my hot water heater that was jarred loose from having my roof installed the day before. She was kind enough to help me circumvent Virginia Natural Gas who by the way created a bigger problem. Reynas knowledge was impressive and it was nice to see a women who loves her job.

Why does this only go to 5? Mike our technician was awesome and Id say a 10. I worked in the nuclear field for over 37 years and have very high standards. his professionalism, technical knowledge far exceeded what I have experienced with other companies. We had the pleasure of having Air Specialty maintenance our Mini Splits heat/air system. Josh was our Technician and a Mitsubishi splits expert. Throughout the cleaning of 7 units he explained all specifics clearly. We bought the house recently and evidently they had not been cleaned in many years. Unbelievable improvement! Incredible same day service from Dan! Our family was panicking at the hottest part of the day when our AC went out. To make matters worse we were hosting a wedding at our home in just a few hours.After a quick call Dan came by ASAP and diagnosed and repaired the issue incredibly quickly!

Lauren and Mike were extremely helpful to ensure that I got a technician to come to my house to look at my heat unit. They were both professional and courteous even when the problem happened to venture out of their realm of work. Once everything is working again I will definitely be calling again to have my system looked at to ensure it stays functional.

Awesome experience! Technician was super personable and extremely knowledgeable. She took the time to explain everything in detail and answered all of our questions. Recommended things that would benefit from being repaired but wasn’t pushy with trying to sell a bunch of extra things like some other companies I have experienced in the past. My husband and I had a new HVAC system installed in 2015. We didnt have the home zoned and was interested in getting it zoned for the 2 floors. an electrician referred me to them and what a wonderful reference. They were professional, clean, on time and did a great job. Scott Geiger was here with an assistant to do the job. They were both wonderful. There was a slight problem with the install but they resolved it very quickly and came back out on my schedule to resolve it. They educated me on the system as well as how to use the zoned thermostats. I would highly recommend their services.
