Chris Jones is an amazing BJJ instructor. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Chris, I am coming back to train BJJ soon. Congrats on your black belt!
Great school, very professional, everyone is very friendly, and their instructors are top notch! Whether you are brand new or have been training and competing for years this is definitely a place you want to go to and learn some amazing techniques!
Great Professor, team members and atmosphere!
Great bjj school! I had been searching for something not too farm from home for a while. Their 6:30 am classes are a great way for some one who works nights, like me, to get at least 2 classes in a week. The people there are awesome and are willing to help you better yourself. Chris is great instructor who makes sure you have your technique down correctly! Come try a class!
I like many started Jiu Jitsu on a whim, listening to Joe Rogan talk about how life changing it can be I decided to give it a try, a year later I still have the pleasure of calling Nucleus my home gym. Chris is a great instructor who is extremely well known in Atlanta BJJ community. Nucleus at the current moment is a small school, so there is never a shortage of opportunities to ask questions or get extra coaching after rolling. The atmosphere is amazing and everyone is extremely welcoming! The gym space is shared with a personal trainer is also always open to answering and health or dietary questions as well. This place is my home and I look forward to many more years!
Chris Jones and and Anthony are very knowledgeable about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Seriously, whether you wanna learn self defense or become a world champion, this place has your back. I’m grateful for how accommodating this place is! Will definitely be back :)
I have known Chris for a few years. We have trained together many times and he always has been helpful giving me tips. He also helps coach me when our teams travel together to compete. He is a talented practitioner that has proved himself on the competition mat as a two-time Masters Worlds champion at brown belt. I have also gotten a chance to train at Nucleus during an open mat. The guys there train hard. As a woman i have never felt in danger but the guys there are still rolling hard enough so it is challenging. Definitely check this place out!
Had the good fortune to visit this gym while traveling. Great people, training, and atmosphere. Very welcoming and friendly. Five stars.
Been training here for three weeks now and its been great. Everyone is open and willing to help me as a new white belt with no martial arts background whatsoever.Chris Jones is a powerhouse and master teacher.
Chris is a very competitive and knowledgeable Jiu Jitsu practitioner under Professor Paul Creighton. He’s been grappling for years and has an excellent demeanor for teaching and applying Jiu Jitsu techniques. I very much enjoy our rolls and learn from each and every one of them. I highly recommend you check him out if your in the area and/or looking for a great place to start training.
Chris Jones is a top notch BJJ teacher and competitor. His ability to explain, demonstrate, and refine techniques he is teaching makes learning easy and effective under his tutelage. Chris is dedicated to helping everyone improve at their place and level. He is truly a teacher that meets students where theyre at in their training and brings them through to improvement. I highly recommend training with Chris at Nucleus. You will not regret it.
I rarely leave reviews but was reflecting on my visit to Nucleus BJJ earlier this year and felt compelled to leave one. Im not from the area but was in town for a couple of months. After trying a few schools in the area I reached out to Chris and he promptly returned my call and invited me to come train. Chris is a very welcoming, skilled, professional, and experienced BJJ practitioner and coach. His students reflected all of those qualities as well. I only attended one class and an open mat, but that was enough to know that if I lived local I would definitely train at Nucleus BJJ. Do yourself a favor and go train here.
Chris is an excellent BJJ coach and training partner. He is patient and teaches techniques at all levels. White belts advance quickly and upper belts (purple+) will feel challenged by the training partners here. The atmosphere provides both fun and hard training. It is difficult to find both in one place.
Nice facility with great training and a world class black belt for a coach. I went to an open mat that coach Chris hosted. He made sure to roll with everyone who attended and shared tons of his knowledge.
Chris Jones is one of the most technical Jiu-Jitsu practitioners Ive come across. His attention to detail and patience explaining techniques to both beginners and advanced practitioners makes him a very efficient instructor. He is also a highly accomplished and respected competitor, ranked #1 in the world in his category and holding multiple world championship titles. Whether youre looking to learn self defense, become a competitive Jiu-Jitsu athlete or just get in shape, ANY student at Nucleus Jiu-Jitsu is in great hands!
Ive known and trained with the owner of Nucleus Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Chris Jones, for several years. His practical application of Jiu Jitsu techniques in real scenarios is second to none. He has a proven track record of gold medals at the highest levels & most prestigious competitions in the BJJ community. If you want to learn real world ground fighting you need to come here and train.
Highly recommend stopping by to train at Nucleus BJJ if in the area. Great atmosphere, clean and very welcoming. Chris is a world class competitor with coaching skills and patience to match!
Really fun, everyone is super friendly and willing to help
Awesome experience thus far. Chris and his team are very good instructors and if you’re ever skeptical about starting Jui Jitzu, Chris offers a safe and welcoming environment. I highly recommend to anyone considering learning Jui Jitzu to give this a place a shot, you won’t be sorry you did!
Chris is an excellent instructor. Ive been training with him for 3 years and he has helped me improve my game immensely. If you are at all inclined to start a martial art, you cant go wrong with Chris. Do yourself a favor and train with one of the best grapplers on the east coast.
Awesome experience for training! Came here ok business trip and did a drop in. Everyone was super friendly and inviting. Chris is an awesome instructor!! Highly recommended!
Chris is a phenomenal instructor! Incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated to his students. Hes created an amazing atmosphere, with great people and great training. Get in here!
If you’re looking to train with a high level coach this is your place. Chris is very detail oriented, high class competitor and overall great coach. Mats are super nice too. OSS
If you want to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a great environment with an awesome teacher, Chris at Nucleus is it! Chris has a huge passion for BJJ and teaching, he is able to break down moves so you not only learn, but remember when rolling as well. Nucleus is a friendly, family oriented environment where youre learning from one of the best and one of our very own veterans.
Chris Jones is not only a World Champion but an outstanding instructor. Anytime I can, I like to drop by so Chris can help me sharpen my skills. Do yourself a favor and stop by if youre in the area. You wont be disappointed!
If you are looking for a Jiu Jitsu academy in your area, look no further. Nucleus Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is run by world champion Chris Jones. Chris has cultivated a positive training environment centered around competition, self-defense, self-improvement, and fitness. If you are thinking about trying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, do yourself a favor and stop here first and talk to Chris.
I agree with the other reviews. You cannot go wrong training under Chris. This is a great opportunity to have detailed personal instruction from one of the best.
Nucleus has jiu jitsu for all ages taught by a multiple time world champion, veteran Marine, and top notch human being. Chris Jones brings out the best in you because he wants you to achieve your goals even when you may think theyre unreachable. I highly recommend training at Nucleus.
Dropped in for a class at Nucleus and had a great experience. Its great that we have a top-notch BJJ gym in the Norcross/Peachtree Corners area now. Chris and everyone at Nucleus were very welcoming. Instruction was on point - its clear Chris is a strong instructor, knows his jiu jitsu and cares about his students. Overall great vibe and experience.
Five classes with Nucleus were my first exposure to jiu jitsu. The classes began with group stretching / warmup. Chris would then demonstrate a position or movement with one of the higher ranked attendees. After being assigned a rolling partner we would break to practice the movement. This may repeat a few times. Chris and other upper belts usually observe, making suggestions. After this we would roll for the rest of the class, periodically being assigned new partners. At the end of class some of the attendees tended to stick around to roll more or listen to Chris for further miscellaneous instruction.I felt that Chris had cultivated an unusually positive culture. Everyone is focused on improvement, and often on helping others improve. The atmosphere is friendly. I definitely couldn’t “beat” anybody there, but I was never made to feel ashamed by it. Every roll was a learning opportunity.I recommend Nucleus to everyone. Thanks Chris!
Chris is an outstanding instructor! His patience and humility turn Nucleus into a perfect environment for those who want to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!
I have been working with Chris for a few years now and he is one of the most dedicated athletes I’ve trained with in the 20 years I’ve been in the strength and conditioning industry. Chris’ love and dedication to the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is unmatched. Chris brings both the years of instruction he’s received from his professor Paul Creighton, a black belt under the legendary Renzo Gracie, and the experience he has gained competing, and winning, on the national and international stage, to benefit his students through his academy Nucleus Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If you are looking for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction I wholeheartedly recommend Chris Jones and Nucleus BJJ. You will not be disappointed!
Chris is an amazing teacher with a wealth of knowledge in grappling. If you want to learn good, solid technical jiu-jitsu, this is the place to train. I have trained many places and this is easily one of the best.
Not often you have the opportunity to learn from and train with a multiple time world champion that is also dedicated to being an instructor. Chris runs an incredible program.
Very fortunate to have such a world class instructor. As of this review Chris is ranked #1 in the world for two separate divisions in the IBJJF. On top of that a kind, and patient instructor.
Not enough good things can be said about Chris Jones. Hes #1 master 2 brown belt in IBJJF. Hes a big guy that knows how to train with smaller people. Hes very knowledgable and respectful. One of my favorite training partners. Sad I cant train with him more.
Nucleus BJJ is owned and operated by one the best Jiu Jitsu practitioners in the world; much less the Atlanta area. Chris Jones is an outstanding instructor who also happens to be one of the most decorated competitors around. His dearth of knowledge allows him to pass on a tremendous amount of technique.Located alongside EPTS, Nucleus BJJ is the perfect environment for everyone looking to either learn, or improve their Jiu Jitsu.I cannot recommend Nucleus, and Chris himself, strongly enough.
Ive trained and competed in several sports including wrestling and Jiu Jitsu for over 50 years. Ive never used the word phenom to describe an athlete, but if I do, Id use it to describe Coach Chris Jones. Hes a great Coach and teammate. Check out Coach Chris at Nucleus BJJ. Tim Kennedyphe·nom - a person who is outstandingly talented or admired, especially an up-and-comer.
This is a great place to train Jiu Jitsu. Chris broke down the techniques, and ensured everyone in the class got personal attention to ensure they executed the techniques correctly while drilling. He even let me pick his brain on takedowns after class. Great Jiu Jitsu instruction from a great American! (and current ranked #1 in the world in Gi and No-Gi Brown Belt at his age/weight division!)
Chris Jones has a tremendous BJJ resume and is a fantastic instructor. Chris is very knowledgeable in jiu-jitsu and wrestling, and provides a solid Jiu-Jitsu curriculum in a safe, fun atmosphere. Ive been training for a little over two years and we both laughed while he absolutely dismantled me. Had a blast, looking forward to training there again. If youre in the area and are looking to join a school, you will find no better instructor or gym!
Chris is one of the most technical instructors I have learned from, and he has done an excellent job of mixing high class instruction with a very open welcoming environment.
When choosing a new BJJ club there are many factors to consider. Are the mats clean? Does the instructor know what he is talking about? Are your fellow students decent folk? I can say with certainty that Nucleus jiujitsu fits perfectly for the vast majority of those who want to train.Theres not really much more to be said about Chris Jones than has already been said repeatedly on the internet, hes an excellent competitor and instructor with credentials and victories to prove it, but what can be said is hes a laid back guy who takes a genuine interest in his students regardless of their athletic ability, skill level, physical fitness, availability, or competition aspirations.Nucleus itself is a smaller facility, but its well laid out to maximize the space available and is well maintained and cleaned regularly. I highly recommend starting or continuing your training in BJJ and getting in on the ground floor of what will be an excellent training team.
Chris is a great instructor, fun to roll with, and is always ready to answer questions and help with technique. 10/10 would recommend.
Great GYM with great people! Thank you Chris.
Ive taken up the opportunity to train with Chris Jones in conjunction with my training under Diego Saraiva. The instruction Chris offers is very detailed and highly technical. Ive been training now for 7 years and find myself learning previously unnoticed details from his instruction over the past few months and a whole new level of the game with leglocks. Main point here is that the instruction offered by Chris is great, especially so for those just starting out, and even for those who have been training for years. It is worth anyones while to start your BJJ journey here or drop in for a visit.
I look forward to classes every week at Nucleus BJJ. Chris is clearly respected in the BJJ comminity, and even introduced me (a new white-belt) to some of his closest friends at a tournament. Then, he proceeded to take gold in his weight class in several divisions. Pacing during class is excellent and without judgement. The atmosphere is always supportive, but with healthy and fun competition from others. Nucleus is a fantastic club in the area.
Nucleus Bjj is a great academy for the kind of individualized and highly technical instruction that you can expect from a highly decorated competitor. It is also the kind of academy where the instructor cares just as much for your jiu-jitsu journey as you do. Chris Jones has a nack for finding out the best ways to improve your technique and performance on the mat. Great facility and great atmosphere.
Chris Jones exemplifies the effectiveness and benefits of training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for both self-defense and competition. He has won numerous championship titles against some of the most elite Jiu-Jitsu competitors nationwide, and his versatility as a grappler is exceeded only by his passion and talent for teaching. Chris’s grappling style thoroughly integrates techniques learned in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and wrestling, making him one of the most complete grapplers I’ve ever had the good fortune of training with. Whether youre brand new to Jiu-Jitsu or experienced in the art, I highly recommend learning from Chris at Nucleus BJJ. Trust me, you’ll go far!
I have been learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Nucleus BJJ owner Chris Jones for a little over a year now, and not only is he an accomplished jiu jitsu practitioner and a world champion level competitor, but he is a deeply knowledgable instructor who is very adept at conveying both basic and advanced concept to his students, as well as providing the critical feedback to each student to help them master these techniques and ideas. If you are seeking the best BJJ instruction, look no further than Nucleus!
Ve known Chris Jones now going on three years now. As a now Blue belt I remember the first time I meet him. White belt standing there, with no real clue of Jiu Jitsu, talking to an ex military brown belt is very intimidating but he made it easy. He has great patience and a very easy, humble, way about himself that makes learning Jiu JItsu fun. He has an odd sense of humor probably honed over the years of training at Creighton MMA where practical jokes are an everyday occurrence. His new place Nucleus Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is him branching out on his own and I know he will do great. If your looking for a great place to train from a down to earth great guy check out Nucleus. You will not be disappointed. Lastly, as a 53 year old guy who is in pretty good shape I can safely tell you that Jiu jitsu and MMA at Creighton MMA and Nucleus has been by far the best thing I have done for myself ever. TR Adams
This is my second review of Nucleus BJJ. I have been training here since the doors opened in March 2018 and feel blessed to be a part of this incredible academy. In the past year and four months my jiu jitsu has improved tremendously not only due to the detailed instruction I get from the owner and instructor Chris Jones but also from the generosity of the upper belts who have patiently worked with me to help me get better. This really is a great environment for learning jiu jitsu at whatever pace or level you are comfortable with. If you have never grappled but might be interested in jiu jitsu, I encourage you to call Chris and start exploring the art. Whether you are great athlete or not, you have nothing to fear and will definitely be happy here. I have seen Chris take people with absolutely no experience whatsoever in grappling and in the space of a year turn them into competent jiu jitsu players who are on their way to excellence in the sport. On a personal note, I have lost almost 50 lbs and frankly am a much happier person since I started training jiu jitsu (also dont restrict yourself because you might think you are too old - I am in my late 50s :) ). On the other hand, if you aspire to be a world champion, you will find people here who can push you as hard as you want and will help you go as far as you can go. Chris himself is a multiple time world champion who knows what it takes to reach that pinnacle. Either way, do yourself a favor and come train with us.
Great to see such talent growing
