I just wanted to say Thank you guys for everything!! My family has been doing business with Century 21 and Nachman Realty, for over 30 years!! They were Always there. Mrs. Ginger Elmore, Josh Whitaker property management. You guy are absolutely amazing!! And Chaz Fiscella Listing Agent also an absolutely amazing person to work with. Everyone was very professional and helpful and patience. I would definitely do business with them again without hesitation. Thank you guys for years of Wonderful service ❤.
During covid our stove/ oven broke... back when no take out was even oven.. they took 2 months to replace it because they kept “ forgetting about it”. Now they served us with a 60 day notice because they want to sell the house.., asked us to move ASAP.,, so we did now they want us to pay for 2 months when we vacated the property just for them. On top of moving costs, and our new rent 🤣 Mellissa specifically has been a joke to work with. She is never available, never can help... unless it comes to you “ owing “ them money because she’s right on top of that.
Lack of communication, took them forever to tell me if I was approved or not. Wasted 2 weeks of my time. Very unprofessional by the way they handled things. Its like they forgot about me even applying for the listing. If I wouldnt have called them to find out anything I would have been left wondering. NEVER AGAIN! Very displeased.
Century 21, Giving you an 18th Century living experience in the 21st Century.Myself and 2 close friends rented a house together from Century 21. I was excited at first but after about a week a noticed flaws in the house, outside the house and with the realtor/land lord. First off the microwave they supplied us died almost immediately and we had to replace it ourselves. When we moved out we were charged $372 dollars for a replacement even though we left the one we bought for them to have. That new microwave they bought must cure cancer or something. It gets hot down here in Hampton Roads. That’s why we have central air conditioning here. Both summers spent at this house our air conditioning stopped working for multiple weeks and months. Making us have to sit in our house with 90+ degree temperatures. The highest i saw the thermostat reading was 95 degrees. The land lord was very slow and unresponsive in fixing this problem and showed no mercy with lowering our rent. If we’re renting a house we expect everything to work. This forced us to buy window A/C units which we had to run continuously to make certain rooms livable. This ran our electric bill up to almost 600 dollars. Again no reduced rent from the land lord. Now this stuff is terrible but the scariest thing had to be the giant dead tree in the front yard. As well as it being blistering hot in the summer time. Hampton Roads in also prone to Tropical storms and Hurricanes. Back to back years we had giant tree limbs for on our house and utility lines as well as other numerous times during bad thunderstorms. Knocking power and internet out. Downed power lines endangred us and our neighbors, as well as out vehicles. We expressed our concerns about the tree to our Realtor and Landlord and nothing was done about it. I don’t understand how people can get away with this. It’s not about finding people good places to live and making them feel comfortable with these people. It’s only about squeezing the most money out of you as possible. Some qualities I’d want in a good realtor and land lord are companionate, sensible and competent. These words do not describe the land lord or Century 21. I suggest taking your business elsewhere. I pray and hope whoever is living there now is not dealing with what my 2 friends and I had to deal with.
Im a Happy Home Owner!!!
Well I appreciate being able to read reviews prior to dealing with a company or business of any sort I had a headache just reading the reviews google just saved my life and money I swear you would think that people would take thier jobs seriously especially when it comes to peoples lively hood and they would have integrity when people are paying hard earned money to have a safe roof over their families head and that they would want to leave a good impression for future people who would inquire about the service they provide but it really doesnt seem to me like they are providing that so its a no for me where are the real moral providers of service in this day and time were we both benefit greed is a terrible desease smh!!
I’ve rented from Century 21 Nachman for 4 years now. My property manager Ginger has been extremely attentive and efficient. Anytime I have questions or when I’ve escalated even the most minor concern, Ginger gets it resolved immediately. She is a great liaise between the owners of my condo and I. I am certainly thankful for such a balanced professional partnership.
Great place they always helped when I needed it and have nice homes nice people
I have never used Century 21 and not interested. Please dont contact me again. Thanks.
Will never deal with this company AGAIN! And after reading some negative reviews below, I should have known, we had the exact same issues!! Company was hard to reach, repairs were either not made or months later, but biggest issue was after the walk through. Nobody contacted us about it. Nobody said we failed anything. Next thing we know we have things on the list that could have been repaired, or were never damaged to begin with. As someone else pointed out below, they replaced screens. We never removed any screens, we never had any damaged screens, but they charged us $170 for that. They said we did NOT cut the grass. We cut the grass the day we left. That was another $85. They said they had to replace 2 shower doors. Only one shower had a door, and we dont even know why it was replaced...another $170. They issues with cleaning, where we hired a company, and if they didnt like how it was cleaned, we could have sent back the cleaning company to make adjustments. All in all, they took over $1K from us. Weve been trying to reach out to Craig Wool, who has been avoiding us for over a month. No return calls, no emails. We finally got an email where he sent over some photos but no explanation of why we were not notified of the inspection right after it happened. Instead, we get half our money back in the mail. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR RENTING!! BEWARE! THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY!!
Barry Nachman at this office is a crook!!Told my husband and I whatever he thought was ok just to get our money! Wouldnt even return a call after leaving messages. Didnt even have enough decency to just call and say we didnt get the home we had applied for, after we said please let us know before the time of our renewal where we were living!! All we did was ask that one little thing so we could go elsewhere! I had already heard 100 bad things about there company anyway so I am not surprised. Maybe God did us a favor and let us dodge a bullet. I will say though if you come in contact with him or the company really pay attention and dont believe his words totally. I dont know how people like him sleep at night, please dont put yourself in this situation like my husband and I. I am here to tell you, you will be sorry!! I also believed the woman at there front desk on the sales side was racist!! I work with people like her everyday, so it showed !! Judgement was passed and lies were told.
Ive never seen a company that cares so little for their own renters/owners. As a current user renting through them, I can safely say I will never use this company again as long as I can avoid it. Giving false information to their renters and then penalizing them for following instructions is just disgraceful. Avoid at all cost for your own sanity.
I’ve been renting from Nachman Realty for 3 years now. Ginger Elmore has been a blessing from God since day 1. She has made sure that all of my concerns and maintenance needs have been met. Ginger goes above and beyond! I can always count on her and I’ve never had any issues or regrets. The owner Mr. J has been amazing and made sure that any issues have been fixed and in a timely manner. I recommend Nachman Realty to anyone who is seeking rental property or to purchase a home.
We are a military family with a less than one year old son who rented a house in Newport News through Nachman 21. We made sure to tell them with ample time we were moving due to orders. After two move out inspections and being told everything was good to go the company still tried to charge my family a months extra rent than allowed by the service relief act as well as a clean yard fee in the middle of fall after I not only weeded, unburried the overgrown fireplace and unearthed several rows of patio stones. They also tried to charge us for cleaning even though I scrubbed everything and double checked with Melissa everything was good to go. Not to even mention when we moved in the air filter was disgusting, the fridge and freezer were full of mold and there was a ingestion of cockroaches. We tried to be extremely helpful in trying to get the property rented only for Nachman 21 to try to screw us. Dont use them. Save yourself the money and headache.
Unfortunately this is one of the worst companies to rent from.
I moved in March 1, 2018 and I have been fighting an ongoing roach war ever since. CENTURY 21 just blames the apartment manager, Ashley, who I still have yet to meet. All of the application process was done through Barbara, now when I call even she directs me to Ashley. Ive called Ashley on several occasions but she never responds. Ive bought everything you can buy to get rid of them and the exterminator came as well. The problem is there are 20 apartments, so spraying one does nothing for the big picture. They run to the next apartment then come back when its safe. Ive called the health department and will continue to contact anyone and everyone I can to let all of Virginia and the world know DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM CENTURY 21/NACHMAN REALTY!!!!!
Would just like to say how horrible this company is. If you are an Owner wanting to put your property up for rent, please pick another firm. We rented from them for five years at a house we truly loved. Throughout the years the home deteriorated due to their lack of competence and attention. The home was shifting which they never paid attention to causing the owners to have to redo all the floors and tile. The back porch leaked and during a snow storm almost collapsed injuring people. There was a tree damaged on a storm that had never been repaired, the septic backed up because it was never pumped and it should have been, etc, etc! Horrible. Owners beware!! Look elsewhere! Also tenants, don’t waste your time. They could care less about loyal tenants and when it comes to move out charge anything they can AFTER your move out inspection with them to keep all your money. I feel so sorry for the owners of the property we rented, had this company been on top of our work orders their house wouldn’t have fallen apart. So sad.
I give ZERO starts for this company! Renting with this company has been nothing but pure hell! They do not care for their tenants or military community!! When we first moved into the house, the house wasnt even ready. The owner refused to start our lease 3 days later as we were pcsing from Texas. Ok no big deal. When we got to the house the water heater had leaked in the shed. The gas furnish which is the regulator to the A.C had to be replaced. This caused us not to have any heat in the house toward the end of NOV or hot water. The shed door had mold so it had to be fixed I have three kids so we ended up having to stay in a hotel. No reimbursement for that at all, not even a SORRY! Next issue is we still have yet to receive a recycling been. It has been 14 months and still no recycling bin. Then back in the summer, there was a change in management and we were not notified. I found out by calling the old property manager who stated I dont work there anymore, it’s been about two months. The new property manager had sent a bill for trash that we had NEVER received in the past. At this point we were living in the house about 7 months. The new manager Melissa sent out the bill but did not even have the common courtesy to introduce herself because she states I work for the owner, and we do not have to disclose to the tenants any change in management. We received a call from Melissa 10/1/2018 asking if we would like to renew the lease, we stated we did. Melissa asked if she could do a walk-through of the property because she was not the original manager to sign the lease with us. Melissa conducted the walkthrough with my husband on 10/5/2018. A few days later my husband had sent a follow up email asking her if the owners were going to make the small repairs needed. Melissa emailed back and stated that the owner wanted to “hold off on repairs at this time”. Ok fine. My husband then made a call asking Melissa for a lease renewal contract because it was a month out from expiring, Melissa stated that she was waiting on the owners. A few weeks go by and on 11/19/2018, my husband and I received an email from Melissa stating she wanted to make us aware that the owner did not want to renew the lease and that a 60 day notice letter was sent to our address. We were shocked because we were under the impression we were renewing the lease. We found a place and per Melissa, we were only be rent responsible until January 19, 2019 as that was 60 days from the date of the 60 notice. I followed up with an email telling her I appreciated her clearing up that we would only be rent responsible up until that point. She then emailed me back stating the owner did not want to prorate January. Melissa was deceitful in the fact she did not tell the owner what she had said about only being rent responsible until January 19, 2019. I have been trying to get this issue resolved, it took three weeks, (six phone calls) to get the District Director Craig Wool to return any of my calls. I even called Bob Burch who is over everyone and never received a call back. Melissa admitted that she just took over managing properties in June of 2018 and needed the help of the district manager to explain the lease because she did not know how to do so. It has been nothing but inconsistencies from the beginning. Century 21 Nachman could care less about the tenants. This Newport News office is nasty and rude. Kathy, the assistant to Melissa needs a huge attitude check, she is just nasty. There is no customer service here and they pretend to comprehend things when in reality they don’t. We are now stuck paying the rent through January and paying the rent for our new place with three kids. If we had known they were not going to renew the lease, we would have given the appropriate notice to be out and not stuck paying double rent! Please STAY FAR AWAY!!
One of the worst places Ive ever rented from. Since I moved in 4 months ago I have constantly had issues. I think the management tries to be helpful and pretend to understand. When I first moved in my water didnt work and neither did my dishwasher. Took them days to get fixed. The downstairs toilet clogged and overflowed. All of the blinds are broken. The drywall is cheaply done. There is paint all over the counters for who painted. The back gate fell apart. The sinks dont work. The towel holders in one of the bathrooms fell apart. Put all of this in my inspection report. Nothing was done for it. The garbage disposal leaked all over my supplies and ruined them. My A/C went out for 4 days and they acted like it wasnt a big deal and tried to make me pay out of pocket for an A/C unit. While they did agree to reimburse on rent the next month. I didnt have the extra money to spare. And in those 4 days my fridge went out and Im still waiting to hear back. I called yesterday morning. They didnt tell me I needed decals for parking and my car got towed and they refused to reimburse for that. Said it was in the manual. Fair point but one of the managers went over the manual with me and never mentioned and when I asked if I needed anything for parking they said no. It kind of feels like they feel inconvenienced when something goes wrong with THEIR property and give you attitude. Its terrible management. While they are pleasent over the phone and in person they dont do a good job at taking care of their tenants. If I could leave no stars I would.
If I could give no stars I would.... Came in today to apply and the first thing the lady asked me after I told her I wanted to rent a house 1k or more. She ask did I have my voucher ready as if a young black woman cant afford to pay full rent.... Ive always paid full range by myself ive always made to much for any assistance and never wanted it. To me they was judging me by press on nails not the contents of my character ijs.
Very difficult getting the property manager/the homeowner to take care of the most basic repairs in our rental home. After a lot of going back and forth, things are starting to get done...which is why I bumped the rating up to 3 stars.
Very nice office area alot of hard working people as well
Renters beware. This is by far the worst renting experience Ive ever been through. Representatives were not forthcoming with information about other building tenants with troublesome issues, faulty utilities and gouged me for every dime they could.
Great staff!
Friendly people that have a desire of helping their customer.
