Switched to Onelife 3 months ago and i love it! I was lucky enough to be able to do a free session with one of their personal trainers, Brandon . He is incredible! He is very professional and has excellent communication skills. Not only does he do well with his job, he also helps motivate you when you’re working out. Onelife is lucky to have a great personal trainer like him .

Great gym. Staff polite, helpful, knowledgeable. Freddy is amazing. Have been a member for 13 yrs. starting in Frederick MD when the gyms were know as Sport and Health. Only criticism is since staffing has become a challenge cleanliness has suffered as has equipment PM. The posts holding the weights really need a good coat of oil. Highly recommend the Tech Center location.

This place is by far one of the cleanest one life fitness centers in the 757. The workouts are like as if you are at home. The gym is spit into like 8 areas where majority of all body parts can be hit. The best time to come workout is early before 4am if you really want the entire gym entire. Great staff and an amazing place work out.

Thieves galore! Today they stole the inner sole right out from inside from my Brooks running shoes. I left the shoes on the floor near a locker while I was at the sink. I may have interrupted the ongoing theft, as there were two suspicious people oddly near my shoes in the corner. They left quickly upon my arrival. I have twice reported attempted break-ins into my locker showing and giving the staff the damaged new locks. There are now locker doors that appear to have been pried apart and cracked as well as metal door lock hasps that are twisted & filed open from a forceful successful entry.

Great gym. Im not a big machines and weights kinda girl but they have alot of classes like aqua zumba and FIT classes to keep you occupied. Nice sauna and hot tub for relaxation. Its close to $40 bucks a month for me but worth it because of all they offer. My recommendation is to sign up at the Tech Center one ( the newer one) instead of the old one that used to Golds Gym at City Center because you can go to both in Newport News. If you sign up at the older one you can only go to that one. Apparently there is a price difference from what I was told.

I just attended Mike Adams Commit Dance Fitness class at Onelife Fitness-Tech Center…such a great class! He is full of movements and fun. If you want a great workout on a Friday night, be sure to look it up. You will love it, Thanks Mike! #Sunmerof20Vibes

Lots of equipment and classes. The gym is beautiful and very clean. Im not sure what my contract includes because the manager was too busy aggressively flirting with me to really explain anything. Before even knowing my name he was gushing about how beautiful I am and how our signs are so compatible and he can tell by my aura that him and I are so alike and that hes a good catch. He didnt ask about my goals or anything. When I mentioned I wanted to lose weight he told me I didnt need to because Im already sexy enough. I kept trying to move the conversation in a professional direction but he didnt get it. If I see him there when I try to work out Ill have to start going to a different location.

I LOVE the les mills classes! Especially body pump and body attack. I’m also loving doing yoga on the green! Getting the time outside is so nice and in this heat it’s like hot yoga lol! I’m so glad I’ve found a gym with so many good classes cus I def prefer those ! I love the teachers, especially Kristi and Beth!! They are always so upbeat and encouraging! They don’t make you feel intimidated and you feel right at home in their classes even if you’re a newbie!

Ive been a member of Onelife Fitness for about 5 years. I enjoy the variety of classes and class times, excellent teachers, cleanliness of gym and equipment. My favorite class at Onelife-Tech Center is Tuesday, 9:15 Zumba with Pat and Onelife- Newport News M,W,F, Kettlebell fitness with Anthony. I love this gym! Friendly staff, good price, lots of space and great exercise equipment. There is something for everyone. If you want to swim, they have a pool. It you want to train, they have personal trainers. If you have kids, they have a play area. One of the best gyms Ive been a member of. I highly recommend you come by and get a tour.

This one life is one of the smoothest running gyms I’ve ever been too. The staff is very helpful and progressional, and it starts with the leadership at the top from the GM.

Visited many gyms across the country, very impressed by this location and in particular Freddy. He was very energetic and made my wife and I feel welcome. Quality equipment, clean facility. Ask for Freddy, he’s someone that truly cares and is passionate about what he does. Thank you Freddy!

LOVE it here. I joined in the beginning of January, and I’ve enjoyed every minute. I come in 4-5 days a week and even on busy days I still get a complete workout in.

Big, beautiful new facility. Plans are on the expensive side but it is worth the money if you can afford it.

I moved to Virginia recently and needed to find a gym. I tried several gyms before picking this one. It was “newer”, cleaner, offers pool, sauna, and more than one location! Highly recommend!

Best gym and workout center ever! Clean and always up-to-date!

The gym is great however the leadership form the GM is lacking which is very unfortunate. I have left several messages for Corey, the GM and have yet to receive a call back regarding my concern. Being that he is in charge of this establishment you would think he would understand the importance of customer service and addressing concerns in a timely manner. Just today, I have called several times and was informed he was in a meeting. 2 hours later I called back for a follow-up and was informed he was working out! It takes a minute to call a customer back and it definitely takes precedence over his individual workout; way to show that you value your members.As a follow up to the above the GM did contact today and resolved the issue. Thanks Corey!

This place frustrates me because the people who work here cannot answer simple questions. They need to teach workers about membership requirements, conditions, etc. I got two different answers about when my membership expired, and when I asked if it’s at the beginning of the month or end the guy told me “I don’t know .” When I asked if the membership is going to automatically renew, “ I don’t know .” It’s a simple question, please educate your workers.

I really really enjoy my late night workouts at one life, everything is so clean and santize. Also what makes my workouts great, is seeing Ms Tiffani at the front desk, she always greeting each member that comes in with a smile( under her mask..lol). And also wishing everybody a goodnight when leaving. Love onelife💪.

I love the gym, during COVID19 they’ve really stepped up keeping up with the sanitizing and housekeeping. The downside is I feel I pay a good amount a month and the machines I use on a daily are not updated, the hill climber I use it’s only 1 machine available to use (due to social distancing) and the TV has never worked on it- which is annoying that the fee charged to upgrade equipment doesn’t go towards it, or maybe adding a couple more in the gym will keep the value of the memberships. I also wish they had more hand sanitizer stations through out the gym and not only towards the exits.

They take money horrible worker rude and all they want is money they lie and say you can’t cancel a grannies like it’s a phone bills or something they rude and unprofessional

Im glad I upgraded to this gym. I want sure about it at first but Im very satisfied. Being they have classes here encouraged me more so to join. Cycling classes was the first reason but the other classes outside of cycle are great too. I totally recommend. $39/month.

Frist time here. Was a good light workout. Its a nice place. Update 6 weeks later 4 to 5 star 🌟. The staff that I have a question for would actually go and show me the exercise . Have a personal trainer awesome.

This gym is everything I have been looking for! Not only is it VERY reasonably priced membership wise but they go above and beyond. The classes are great, someone is ALWAYS cleaning, and the child care is wonderful. The employees, the members, the instructors; it truly feels like family!

I took a yoga class this evening with Jill W. and I can’t even begin to explain how amazing she is. I walked in after a long day and I was anxious and stressed. I contemplated leaving the class because of how overwhelmed I felt with things going on outside of the class but I’m so glad I stayed. By the end of the class I felt completely renewed and relaxed. Her message and her guidance was exactly what I needed. I typically don’t enjoy yoga but class with Jill was something I thoroughly enjoyed! I can’t wait until my next class with her. I HIGHLY recommend taking her class. She is absolutely amazing.

This gym is beautiful. Every time Ive been its clean. Even when its at its busiest, I can get my workout in. My only feedback would be that the water pressure in the sinks is extremely low. Its minor, but in a place where bacteria breeds, I wash my hands pretty often so its relevant for me.Update: the water pressure has been fixed. It took several weeks, but it did get done and I very much appreciate that.

Lacking safety equipment in power lifting areas.These platforms encourage deadlifts among other compound lifts however, it can become particularly difficult to place anymore then one bumper plate on each end of the bar without risking a back injury.I have brought this issue up to management recommending a simple and relatively inexpensive tool called a “barbell jack.” The barbell jack (roughly $80) allows the user to safely load/unload the bar without having to simultaneously lift the existing weighted bar with one hand.I was told 11 months ago, two barbell jacks were ordered and should arrive within a few weeks. For months I was reassured the items were ordered and should be arriving anytime.....On a positive note, the facility is clean and the staff is always very friendly, especially Freddy and Jim. I have always felt welcomed at Onelife.

There is honestly not much more to be done to make this gym or working out there a better experience. I have been going about 4 days a week for 6 months. It is by far the best out of City center and Norfolk clubs. It is extremely clean and though it’s smaller i have rarely had to wait on equipment and i go during the gym rush after work. They consistently have trainers and staff floating around, their front desk staff are most of the time very helpful, their group training instructors seem so awesome and genuine, and the equipment is top notch with everything you could need.

This location closed for no reason and Managenent posted a sign that said inclement weather, weather at the location is great because I’m outside! Clearly they are cheap and trying to save money by sending staff home, cutting hours and sending members home! I’ve been sitting in the parking lot for 10 minutes and have watched at least 7 members, (that’s right a lot of people are paying for membership) pull into the parking lot and walk to door only to find out that the gym is closed. I would like a refund for the month of September since this is the one week I’m in Newport News and wanted to use the facility. Stop being cheap!!! If you can’t make a profit Lillie this then raise your prices and stop trying to compete with planet fitness

Wow! I cant believe how nice this gym is! Ive been going to the other location on City Center Blvd for 5 years and theres no way theyre in the same chain. Tech Center is actually clean, machines actually work and management is competent. The manager Cory G. was very competent, polite and had a clue of what is going on. City center management is incompetent and worthless. You also have to repair the machines on your own there if you want an adequate workout. I felt a little strange at first being in the Tech Center location because everything worked properly and I didnt have to jimmy rig equipment to get it to work before I used it.So Thank you One life fitness for finally opening a gym on the peninsula that is properly functioning like a gym suppose to. And please tear down the City Center location, from the inside out, and start from scratch!

I visited on a free guest pass provided on their website and was a bit disappointed. It is a nice and clean facility and I had a good workout, but the staff wasnt friendly or helpful. After speaking with someone on the phone I was offered a tour- when I arrived an hour later that staff member was not there despite saying he would be at that time, and the girl at the front desk just told me where things were instead of setting up a tour with someone else. Not a single staff returned my smile or greeting and my new tattoo was stared at instead. I wasnt informed about pricing until after my workout, and its really expensive. I decided to join the other Newport News location instead after this experience.

Very high-quality equipment and modern appeal :) LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that it is 24hrs during the week. Location is everything and this place is extremely convenient. Definitely worth being a member! Staff is amazing...a great motivation to get fit!

They have everything you could want in a mid-market fitness center: cardio, resistance, pool, classes, etc. Their staff is helpful, friendly, and work hard to keep the place clean. Their Customer Relationship Management is terrible - hence the 4 stars - but that is more of a corporate thing and not relating to this club.

OneLife has the friendliest staff and the best machines. I go for the pool. Locker rooms are mostly clean, but develop a bit of an odor throughout the day. I usually go first thing in the morning so I dont have to deal with that. Cannot say enough about how friendly the staff is. Also, I had seven sessions with one of the personal trainers, Allyson. If you like pain, I recommend. Shes a great trainer, but not for the weak or timid. All the trainers are friendly and know their stuff. The swim instructor is very friendly and even knows my name.

Friendly staff, they pay extra attention to cleaning and sanitation. plenty of equipment and space for.a variety of fitness goals.

I was stationed there for a few months and told once I left all I had to do was email them to cancel my membership to which I have done multiple times as well as call them and given the run around saying they will call me back and then never do. Its been 5 months since I have left and they are still charging me. Completely unprofessional

I am not a resident of Virginia. I was told that as soon as I established that I did not reside in the state, that I can cancel the membership immediately with no further charge. The staff then told me to send an email cancellation request to a particular person. That person does not work there. I was then charged $47.99 and the person that I spoke with stated that there is a 30 day notice required. Thats an awful lot to go through for $50. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Very nice facility and well maintained. Has everything needed to workout your body. Ill be starting grad school in a differentstate in August and signed up for this gym in January. I was worried about cancelling since its always a nightmare with fees and screwovers at other gyms. But I let them know in advance my situation, provided proof of my acceptance and housing contract, and it was a simple 5 minute conversation. Surprisingly, very nice and easy.Even though its pricier than say Planet Fitness, they have better service, understanding staff, and better facility in my opinion. Wouldnt mind being a lifelong member if they had more locations nationally.

Its a new gym. I like the equipment selection, which definitely covers the essentials of bodybuilding and a little more, but there isnt anything novel here like a reverse hyper or a hip squat station. Overall, the layout is fine although they could have dedicated their small outdoor workout area to machines that arent already covered by what they have inside.Its also slightly lean in terms of value offered for about 40 dollars/month when compared to nearby in-state competitors. Sadly no significant gym chains exist to compete locally except Anytime. When comparing value I look to Richmond, which has multiple gym chains options. My favorite personally? Ive seen an incredible selection of weightlifting equipment from a, one-location-only, Golds Gym for 10 dollars/month and a small annual fee, with month-to-month membership, and truly 24/7 with staff at all times. Ive seen 24 hours/5 days offered from American Family Fitness, which has much larger gym sizes, more conveniently located gyms in terms of distribution, all of which included a 5 lap per mile indoor track at one location, shorter running tracks at every location, swimming pools at every location, comparable selection of weightlifting equipment at every location, much better group class offerings, basketball courts at every location, with staff at all times for 40 dollars a month.And then theres One Life Fitness, which offers 24 hours at only one location (Tech Center) for 4 days of the week and for three days of the week they have limited hours. For membership at this one location, they consider it an upgrade and lock you into a completely different membership agreement that is more expensive and requires a year-long agreement that isnt required for membership access to all other One Life locations. When American Family Fitness had grand openings, there was none of this upgraded contract nonsense.For the Tech Center upgrade, you sign a one-year contract and then are allowed to switch to month-to-month after. It was about 40/month and 5 more dollars per month than their normal membership. I didnt realize at the time of signing I was going to be placed on a year long contract to upgrade to the Tech Center membership from having a normal month-to-month membership that I signed up for at the other Newport News location. I should have read the fine print. Had I been aware of this I would have rethought my upgrade. After being a member for five months, I wanted to cancel, by this point knowing I was in a year long obligation. However, cancelling wasnt easy and not just because of money. The first problem came when they would not allow cancellations over the phone or by mail. Turns out I have to come in person, and then at a completely unnecessary and brief face-to-face meeting I learn that they have a 200 dollar buyout fee, which is a ridiculous fee worth 5 months of dues. The regular non-Tech Center contract had a buyout fee of $150 and allowed for cancellations over the phone (lol?). So after finding out about the 200 dollar fee in-person, I accepted that Id rather maintain a membership and retain the value of being a member instead of losing all value by paying a 200 dollar fee and no longer being a member.Bottom line, I find the lack of value combined with customer-unfriendly membership practices made me give this place two stars when compared to experiences Ive had with other significant regional gym chains that allow customers a bit more flexibility and offer much more value at the same time. One Life is probably just taking full advantage that they have no serious competition in the Peninsula area other than from smaller chains like Fit Bodies. I hope American Family or Golds makes its way over.

This place is terrible. You cant get a workout. You cant park within 3 blocks of the place to work out. The service in the place is a joke. They literally took 2 weeks to respond to my cancellation and now they are trying to force me to stay. Go somewhere, or anywhere else. This place sucks!

Struggling with this gyms kids club. I bring my son 2x a week and about 15 min into my workout I get a call or a text that he is upset and crying. This has happened 4 times. Mind you I do not drive so it costs me 30 dollars a day to get there and back from my home. I am unable to even get 60 minutes on the recumbent bike. I pay extra for the kids club. I do not understand why they can not deal with an upset 19 month old. I feel that the kids club is understaffed and could use some more workers. If this continues I will have to cancel my membership.

Really nice new facility! Plenty of work out machines, free weights, indoor pool, sauna, spa, and a large ladies locker room (mens too) Staff is great, especially Sonia very nice lady who took me on the tour. The Rest and Relax room is great!

I love the dedication that comes from the members of this gym, it is a great motivator. The staff os always friendly. The equipment is clean and well maintained. Highly recommended!!

I feel like I was lied to in order to join. I was led to believe the massage room was open to all members only to find out that you have to upgrade membership. I will admit I make impulsive decisions and that is why I fell for Joeys bs lines. I have only utilized my membership maybe twice since signing up at the beginning of the year. I suspended my account then decided to cancel and they make it as inconvenient as possible so people just continue to pay the monthly fee out of fear of cancellation fee. I feel like a victim! I wouldnt even give them 1 star just for the lies and manipulation to join.

I am currently being trained by Jim and I love it! I would recommend him to anyone interested in personal training as he truly pushes you to your limits and does not let you give up! I’m glad I chose this gym!

I love this gym! It’s super clean, my daughter loves the kids club, and all of the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly (Shout out to Steve and Mark in personal training - you guys are the BEST!) Definitely recommend!

Love this place

The rates are extremely high in comparison to other gyms in the area. 250 first time fee period then so much a month just to get in the door. All other services are billed separately. Management is terrible and is completely not interested in reoccurring business. Don’t bother, find a gym that is hassle free. This is not the one.

Gym is nice and staff are cool but wayyy too many love songs. Honestly just annoying hearing someone sing slowly about a breakup or love that’s not working out when you’re trying to workout. Some of them would be okay but it’s all the time and it doesn’t really make sense for a gym. Gives no energy to the gym.

Good gym but the music is way too soft, it’s not good and you guys play the same stuff way too much! I Would give more stars if the music was way better and actually good to workout to.

Best gym on the Peninsula. Most equipment I’ve ever seen in a fitness center. Clean. Highly recommend to anyone looking to join a gym in the area.

I have been a Onelife member at two different times over many years. I decided to stop into Tech Center today to see about upgrading my current membership to include this location. Ive become disappointed with the City Center location and I am ready for a change.I really like this location in Tech Center. Sonja and Pree were fantastic today. Kind, customer focused, and shook my hand when greeting me. Pree gave me a wonderful tour of the facility and Sonja answered my questions.A class was finishing up in the pool area when we walked through on the tour. The instructor smiled and greeted me with positive energy. The customer focus and positive energy in this location was on point and refreshing.This location is newer, so it has equipment in great condition and a large selection to choose from. The yoga room is stunning and I look forward to taking classes in there.While this location is a little smaller than the City Center location, some of the features that it doesnt have actually make it a better facility. The other location is high in noise from the open racquetball, basketball, and Zone 4 areas on top of the gym music and music coming from the cardio room. This location brings noise to the right level, and I feel that the class rooms are more insulated when it comes to containing class noise. Temperature wise, this location is much better (not stuffy/ac works well).This location provides a great mix of equipment and classes to plan out an awesome workout for the week.The gym is also very clean and well maintained. Towel stations can be found in each workout area if you forget to grab one on the way in. The locker room is spacious and clean.This location is 24/7 Monday through Friday night at 10pm with modified hours on Saturday and Sunday. 24/7 during the week is a huge plus.This location does run a little more in monthly cost. Paying less would be nice, but in some ways, the cost is worth it. I look forward to my workouts here.

I would highly recommend OneLife Tech Center because the staff and the facility are amazing. I am especially thankful that they offer personal training as well. I had a great opportunity to have Mark Pedersen as a personal trainer and he was such a great help. I am highly displeased with the management there!!!!!!!!One of the managers there named Cory, told me yesterday that the money he mistakenly withdrew from my account, would be refunded back into my account by yesterday evening and today the money still has not been credited to my account!It was over $100 he took from my account and I still havent been refunded yet. Why is that?I was also told by the representative there when I called this morning, that Cory would not be there today (and that he would return on Monday), and there is no else there to resolve my issue.As a customer, why am I being inconvenienced and placed on the backburner?Why am I being penalized for someone elses mistake?Why isnt my issue being resolved, in a timely manner?

The gym had everything you need! Free weights, cardio, Olympic lifts (dont slam), spin, swimming, studio, training, even outdoor workout spaces! My membership was bought for me for Christmas and we had some trouble setting it up but the manager, Corey, fixed everything smoothly one we talked to him! This gym is MMG (Matt Made Gains) certified!!

Needs improvement. Wasnt many working out during tour. Felt like onelife isnt doing as well as they used to. Used to be packed. Didnt get a wow factor when I entered. Kinda boring...

I went to the Tech Center Location as I was a member of the Town Center location. As many know Town Center closed so I wanted to check it out. Tech Center is a fantastic gym. State of the art equipment, clean, functional, and a tremendous staff. I first met with Mark Pederson to give me a workout and introduction to the gym. Marks professionalism and ability to listen had me sold on signing up for some training. Mark assigned me to Danielle Dani McCuan. I have worked out twice a week for the last three months with Dani and she has been fantastic. Shes first off very professional(always on time and always talking about our tasks at hand), she listened very well to my goals and understood not only what I needed to work on but how I wanted to work on them, and most importantly shes a very real genuine person. Highly recommend the OneLife at Tech Center especially Mark and Dani.
