How I miss this place! I moved to Florida 3 years ago and till this day I have not found a barbershop with the same type of atmosphere as Step Up Barbershop. The barbers are all fantastic and Madan he is a legend! Cant wait to go back and get my hair cut with you.

This place is awesome. The area was very clean. The people were very kind and professional. They didn’t just cut my hair, they really wanted to make me look good. There’s a difference there. Seeing people enjoy what they do is very special. The haircuts are affordable and are very very nice!

Personally do not enjoy barber shops in New Jersey because of the territorial nature of barbers owning clients.Barbers are not friendly because they do not know who I belong to and will wait for me to approach somebody to ask for a cut.I enjoy the customer service experience that lets me walk in, be noticed and attended to, then given the service I want.Then if I go back, be treated with the same kindness. Not with a cold shoulder due to possibly belonging to somebody else.

Came here and booked through Booksy and sat in Madan’s chair. Had a great experience he’s very personable and professional, I’ve been to many barbers before and the quality of this barbershop is second to none! Everything is very sanitary and each barber’s station is divided for sanitary purposes. I will be coming back very soon!

My first visit to Madan the Barber at step up salon and barber shop was on 6/23/20. I found him on books where he is rated a 5 out of 5. With COVID his shop had been closed and his shop was the first to open in the area. I booked through the booksy app which Madan prefers. I must say that this shop is the real deal as Madan and his team are true professionals, they are all good in that shop, I go on a Tuesday to get my haircut and it’s been busy every time I go. This shop is the real deal! Madan is a dopebarber with skills that impress, the haircuts and shave are of quality and precision! I have been to Madan like 5 times since June 23rd. He’s also a quality person and he and his team are a great bunch!

Ive been coming here for 4 years, they speak Spanish, English and Portuguese. I walked in 4 years ago knowing not one barber, hoping they would do a good job. Now its like family dont be shy come in, everyone cuts hair on point. Calling and scheduling for an appointment is the best, but like any barber shop you can still come in and wait for a cut...sometimes the wait is less than 5 minutes and sometimes up to an hour but thats usually when you are waiting for specific barber. The shop closes at 8 but after 7 if there are to many people waiting they dont take any more people unless you had an appointment. Overall I recommend this place to everyone.

This is by far the best spot in Newark. Very professional and they make our lives much easier with booking appointments on the app (Booksy). You can also call and make an appt on the phone. They are always on time with their appointments. Even if you’re in a rush and don’t make an appointment they do accept walk ins. I have been going to this place and same barbers for years. Have been getting my haircut from this group since I was 13 in the 7th grade. Now 24 and I have never thought about going anywhere else, or will ever go anywhere else regardless of the distance driving here. They are busy in the afternoon (for a good reason, the best barbershop in the area) but it is not difficult to pick up the phone and book an appointment or use the Booksy app which they use and very convenient. Cant be mad when you walk in and expect to be next in 15-30 minutes. Its not anyones fault but your own. They speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese fluently
