We went here to celebrate my brothers birthday. It has been so many years since I was last here. Well, I am happy to say, we were not disappointed. My wife and I ordered had the Seafood Combination Parrihalda. It was really good. The only thing is(not a bad thing), it was sooo much food. We will be feasting on it for lunch. There is no doubt that we will definitely visit again.
Terrible Terrible Terrible!!!!$72 wasted. NEVER AGAIN!!!!The waitor and waitresses were wonderful. The patio seating was wonderful!THE FOOD WAS DISGUSTING. Lol! Im thinking about calling Gordon Ramsey (Kitchen nightmares)We asked if they serve warm bread, because we received cold bread. The rice tasteless and room temperature, we asked for hot rice. They heated up the same rice. We can tell, because the entire plate was 🔥.80% of the Mussels were closed100% of the clams were tough as leather90% Calamari was tougher than a fan belt on a car.The supposed fried pieces of fish were barely cooked, looking old.The Marina sauce was oily, tasted like it was straight out of the jar or can and pieces of Spinach in it.1 stale Potato Chip in the midst.By the way, my husband was getting sick to his stomach and stop eating.I didnt have the energy to complain about our ENTIRE meal. There many people on the patio and I didnt want cause a scene, which was well deserved. We didnt want to spoil our entire evening, because of our SPOILED DINNER!Trust and Believe. We wont be back!We shouldve headed out to theThe Fishery Keyport in Keyport. We shouldve listened to our instincts.
Theres a stale wet smell as soon as you enter the restaurant but the 2,660+ reviews said the food is good so onwards we went. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back. We ordered the Parilha(???) For two which is a seafood combination, clamp linguini and a chicken thing. The seafood combo was ok, not great, not good... just mehh. Its ok, Ill eat it because we ordered it but wouldnt recommend. The linguini was too salty and the chicken was tasteless. Maybe there are other stuff on the menu thats good, but Ill never know because we will not be returning.Service was slow but all were kind.
The waiter was pretty pleasant and the food (chicken, ribs and vegetables) were great. Since it was an outdoor experience were able to watch the live game outside too. The place was crowded, but not crowded in a way that social distance was impossible. Seatings were well positioned. Great service and food overall.
After my family has come here for three generations, our visit on 9/5/2021 will be our last visit or time we recommend Iberia to our friends. We had a party of over 20 people and were forced to leave early. The doors to the dining hall were locked every time someone went to the bathroom. The venue no longer offers Rodizio the way everyone is used to, which is arguably understandable due to the pandemic. However, the food that comes with the prefixed serving of a Rodizio platter is nothing to be desired. Guests were not happy with the poor quality of the food and high prices. The Top Sirloin from the grill came out cold, overcooked and appeared to be pan fried versus the grill. Also, several dessert items were not available - although listed on the menu. Perhaps they were available, but were told they were not available so wed leave earlier, but will never know.Again, this used to be the go to place in Newark and a special place for my family. Never again.
I brought my family to eat here. The price is fair. This place is huge. They have good selections of meat and seafood. With my complex palate it was difficult for me to choose. But, since I was with my family we all had different plates and enjoyed sampling each others dishes. I had the Portuguese steak. Each bite was good savory and tasty. The food was served well. The staff were good. I will definitely come back here to try other dishes.
Very good food! If you prefer outside is more relax with more noise and music. Inside is more private and calm... servers are great but like I said the food is great! Recommended ...sorry we did not even take pics of the food since we were ready to go with the nice presentation!
My drink had a bug in it! I called them quietly and told them and they brushed me off. After 15 minutes of not drinking the drink the server came back and saw the bug and “changed” the drink. There was still something in my drink and after another 20 minutes of ignoring me they decided that they would NOT change the drink and the server raised his voice on me and created a whole situation! Never again! This was a place I always wanted to go! No one should go here the staff stinks and I don’t trust them
Good food, great time dinning outdoors, live music, personnel very attentive.Liked it.
Very good chefs on staff, if you are in the Newark area, this is a nice date night location. Live music, inside and outside dining. Im not sure if this restaurant would be considered family friendly do to the price and menu options. But its also a great spot to come after work and have a few glasses of sangria.. The downside of Iberias is if you come close to closing time they make sure you get the rushed feeling.
I just love dining in Iberia when I’m around the Newark area. They offer parking which will be reimbursed after dinner by the restaurant. Don’t be confused there are two location one is for private parties and the other is the restaurant. The restaurant is the one next to the parking. They give such a great amount of food for such a good price. I got the seafood platter for two. It was filled with so much seafood and not like any other seafood dish in other restaurants. As you get down to the plate you will find little shrimp and scallops. Some restaurants try to fill in with vegetables and such but not this one. They also offer a rodizio in the restaurant of your a meat lover. They have a bar in the restaurant as well. The servers are attentive to the customers and are on point.
I liked it but didnt love it. The food was good but nothing was great: the bread was good, the steak was good, the vegetables were properly cooked. all was good but I wanted to be in love and that didnt happen. What I really did appreciate was a house wine, imported from a Portugal, called Ironbound . It was reasonably priced and a good table wine; it went well with our meal.
Great place.. good portions, neat atmosphere
Poorly managed place, dont park on their parking, they charge you either food or drinks in advance. And if you do not cover the min. They wont accept their own ticket.Attention is really something that they are lack of. Witnessed how other customers were treated when they dont comply with the attendant demands.I dont recommend this place. Thanks to Martines waiter on the bar.
Outdoor seating, more than 6 feet apart. Live music, delicious Spanish food. Lots of meat and seafood, little slim menu options if you are vegan. Not the cheapest place, but again the food and service were good.
Sangria was horrible, food did not taste fresh and none of their deserts are homemade. Tasted absolutely dreadful. For how expensive the food is youre better off going to literally any other Portuguese restaurant.
The food is decent, there are definitely better restaurants in the area. However, it was definitely the worst service I’ve experienced. I called from outside to ask if there was a wait for 4 people, they said, ‘No, come, I’ll sit you’, there was a 45 minute wait. When they finally sat us there were only 3 chairs and they didn’t bother getting us a fourth, we had to ask the table next to us if we can have the spare chair. The waiter never checked on us after we got our food, no way of getting drinks. We waited so long for the check. The bill comes with an automatic 18% gratuity, of course there was no incentive for them to provide service. Never again.
The ambience was great! The staff and food were okay. Not as good as I remember it to be.
Sangria (White) was great, wouldnt recommend the red sangria at all. The seafood combination with green sauce was extremely bland and seemed to be heated up in a microwave given the extremely hot portions and cold portions of the dish. Lobster was cut in half but most of it wasnt edible (seemed over cooked). Wouldnt recommend.
The staff allowed someone off the street to enter where we were eating and beg for food and money.I didnt get a chance to EAT my meal because l was conflicted. So I lost my appetite and pass the person who was pleading for something to eat the food and watch them enjoy the meal.I basically paid for a meal I didnt eat.
Very clean and accessible place. They provide big meals and for fair rates. I loved the food very much and the staff members were very amiable and explanatory. Highly recommended.
They had outside dinning with a live performer. The food was very good and u get large portions. The service was prompted and efficient. The atmosphere was very relax.
Good Family & Friends kinda feel. Great Portuguese cuisine..some Spanish dishes as well. Good wine and coffee as well.
Summer Friday nights at Iberia are very nice. Had the sangria which is always good. Service was also good and kept checking in on us. We had the garlic shrimp for apps, then for the dinner we had the sirloin steak and shrimp. sea bass and salmon which were all very tasty. Could have used a little bit more seasoning on the salmon but other than that it was cooked good. They also have live music which is ok as long as you are not sitting in front of them because you wont be able to hear yourself or anyone at the table.I say get there early because we were there about 6 and when we left it was getting crowded and that was around 9.Good place to go if you want to have a decent drink and food but beware that they are very pricey.
Awesome food, awesome service. Great place for a special date.
Rodrigo, our waiterdid a fine job. The food was good too. However the presence of large flies interrupted what otherwise was a pleasant afternoon.
ALLways for over forty years was great, But now changed no more jumbo or large lobster tails BIG DISAPPOINTMENT !!! Always had many of the same employees that were great, BUT NONE of them did I recognize this time . Not the same as always was BIG DISAPPOINTMENT ! wish it was as it was for over forty years!
Really good chicken and great atmosphere. It’s like your in Portogual! Steak is very tender, and the seasoning is superb. Definitely recommend.
Very nice staff, beautiful setting, parking is horrible. The dishes that were brought out to other guest looked amazing. Sadly, we only had enough time for our Calamari. It wasnt the best, a little chewy and marinara sauce that accompanied it was cold. A nice warmth wouldve done it justice. Also a tad bit pricey so make sure you go there on payday. lol
Was very busy in bar area. Good was excellent, great service, all employees wow masks. I felt the tables were a little close especially since it was so busy(every table was taken) and they definitely were over the 35% capacity limit. Also food was very expensive but it was all delicious. Wish the server world have told us that some of the dishes could be shared by 2 people since there was so much food given but I took home leftovers. Would go again
I remember eating here when I was younger, late 90s. The smell of the food plus the decorations and just atmosphere of the place really goes back for me. This place is a staple of the city it resides in and always a first choice. The staff is very attentive and helpful. It has been years since I was back in NJ and Glad we had a chance to stop by with family. Recommended fully to come and enjoy this place if you have the chance.
Nice place, nice atmosphere, huge outside dining, dining service superb, but food is not the Iberia that I knew 20 years ago
It was a great evening under the stars eating my body weight and seafood!!
Excellent indoor and extensive outdoor dining. Great food and a wonderful dining experience.
Great place to eat! Indoor or out. If they mess something up, theyll fix it. Awesome food!
A plus all across the board.Perfect dinning experience 👌
Good in everything good price and services 👌
They offer an awesome variety of fresh food. I like dining here. Staff members are always helpful, pricing is reasonable and the spot is always neat.
Rodrigo was good... Just needs to learn more about the different wines... Food was very good!
Great restaurant. They have self parking lot next to the restaurant but they charge $10 upon arrival so make sure to have cash on you. The money is fully refundable at the table. The parking lot can be used for other means than dining, and if someone goes shopping on Ferry Street they can park there but will end up with a $10 parking bill.We went for Christmas dinner and during wintertime the place is nicely decorated. The lights on the outside of the building make it feel very festive. We even had a beautiful Star of Betlehem flower on our table. The place was packed at 6pm but we had reservations made in advance so we were sitted right away. The bread with butter was served immediately. The pitcher of sangria was delicious as well as all the dishes. For the main enteres we have ordered rodizio, combo grilled chicken breast and shrimp in garlic sauce as well as seafood combination plate. All entres were served wirh rice, some also came with chips and french fries as well as black beans. We ordered serradura and flan for dessert, which was very good. I would definitely come back to this place again.
Salmon was amazing. Service was okay, and the place seemed clean. Would recommend
Love this place such a great service n asmosphere...nandvyes there parking
I d k pandemic screwed everything up iberias is only 1 side of street now...menu says king of shellfish I dont think so. No. Raw clams on half shell. Not even on the menu. I askedNope...ok. check please.
Weary travelers stumbled on this spot late on a Sunday evening. What a very pleasant surprise! Upscale vibe, impeccable service and great food. Had fried shrimp and could not finish half of platter. Huge fresh shrimp with excellent rice, steamed veggies and fried potatoes. Accompanied by a lovely and modestly priced bottle of Portuguese red wine. So glad we ventured to this restaurant!
Food is always delicious here garlic shrimp!! I had the Iberia salad 🥗 loved it
Ive been here twice with a small group of friends. It seems its just not the place for me. But my group of friends that Ive gone with always enjoy their food. I can say service is always nice and quick. They are clean and seem to be following covid guidelines. As for their food in my opinion is its just good.
Used to be great. It is not great anymore
Good food, friendly service, they aim to please
Enjoy your place, always go there .love it...
Went there June 12th no problem with parking the atmosphere was nice, nice live band playing good vibes only Issue I had was with the rodezio apparently there it means you only get one serving of meat I thought rodezio meant all you can eat me being greedy I guess haha in certain restaurants it means certain things its cool .
After my team and I walked the breast cancer walk to raise funds and awareness we refreshed and after a visit to different restaurant we (I) felt so disappointed I wanted to find what I was looking for. And I did when we all agreed on check out Iberia. The minute we sat down we were addressed and able to order our drinks. We only came for drinks because we had eaten somewhere else as I said. But totally disappointed in the whole service there. However I was looking over the bar and I looked down and I saw where they put the food for the waiters to pick up. I saw a big gigantic platter and I saidWhat is that? I then followed it with my eyes as I said to my friend next to me look look look and she did and she wanted to know exactly what it was. We reached out to one of the waiters and they went and got the head waiter I believe or manager who came over and explained to us exactly what was in the dish. We liked it, we like the price, so we ordered it. And it was more than enough for all 6 of us! I even had a some to take home. It was delicious! The photo is here. I forgot the name of it but I wont forget what it looks like or what it taste like. We had a great time, the sangria was fabulous and by the way, thats what I was looking for or what I wanted LOL!Iberia I love you, Ill be back!
Buyer Beware on the Paella! We ordered a Paella for pickup with potato chips, $47 for half an order of paella.Save your money folks, the Paella was an insult to the $30+ dollars half a portion cost.Very little seafood, mainly rice.To be exact, they are using the super tiny shrimp that you find in cup of noodles and very few of them.If you re expecting plump big shrimp you will be disappointed.Baby scallops, a few mussels and a couple of clams were added for decoration. They are not giving you a lobster or half a lobster, they are giving you half a tail of what looks like prawns, that is how tiny it was.If you are expecting seafood in the paella, get ready to eat plenty of yellow rice and bread, the seafood. The rice / overall taste was similar to white rice without the stickiness of white rice. The outdoor seating area is nice but if you are in the mood for authentically tasting and authentically prepared paella, consider trying somewhere else.We were fortunate that the chips were fresh so we ended up eating chips with ketchup.
Came here on a friday night around 7...not that busy. Service was eh to say the least. Ordered a sangria, ny strip steak and a Portuguese steak. While the food LOOKED appetizing it was far from it. I was sadly disappointed since i had high hopes for Portuguese meat. The chips were stale and the steak was terribly chewy.Parking was free
We had a good time, spacious environment, Spaniard alike. you will feel like you are in a restaurant somewhere in Barcelona Spain.
The food is great here. Im not a big fan of seafood, but they do it right. It isnt cheap but not insanely priced either. Serving sizes are very generous, something that says for two can feed three. The Sangria is probably my new favorite and packs a punch! They offer it with or without ice (ice on the side for higher price) but it is worth it. My party of three went through two pitchers and were feeling nice. Its a very authentic experience and the staff is a part of that experience. They are attentive and provide great service. The ambiance is pretty awesome as well.
This is a place to recommend, the food is excellent, service is good and for the right price. The portions are big and delicious.
First time here. Delightfully surprised that smoking is allowed at the outdoor patio bar.😎 Ordered a glass of red sangria..very nice. Contreaux is in the recipe with apples & oranges Most only have apples. The menu does not include a tapas selection, while it does offer appetizers. Bread arrives...with packaged, sinle serve butter. Bread had a nice crust, which I wished the place across the street served with their seasoned Olive oil. I ordered the calamari. Asked if it included the tentacles or legs, bartender replied, no, just rings. Asked if its fresh or frozen? Fresh! So I ask you have the whole calamari, why no tentacles, why no legs? Oh well. Fried Calamari arrive. Entre portion, huge!Very pleased. Ill be back.
Ive been going here for years, not disappointed yet!
Delicious food! My family and I had dinner for my daughters birthday yesterday, we left the place feeling very conent. Great service experience 👍
Authentic Portuguese cuisine at amazing prices. This is a unique NJ experience thats worth trying
Amazing Portuguese food. The seafood is awesome!

Love the shrimp in wine sauce.
Started off inside but there were too many gnats flying around. Asked to be put outside, slight put off with the bugs.
Excellent food. Great service.Ambiance was not my favorite but that wont stop me from coming back.Highly recommend
People were friendly and the Food was very good
So there is a tavern and a peninsula restaurant side. I enjoyed the swordfish seafood dinner that comes with a reduce butter sauce with roasted and seared garlic and parsley and clams🧡. The restaurants bathrooms, hallways and floors are clean. The bathroom is located in the basement of the tavern. My plus one had the paella which is a small pot of rice mixed all kinds of meat such as shrimp, lobster, potato, mussels. The food here is not spicy or overly seasoned at all. The waiters here are patient enough to explain what authentic portuguese food is. There is rodizio here but, i was rudely told that the house rule is that you CANT SHaRE or TAkEOUT the rodizio. I did not like that at all if i pay $28 and i dont finish my food sir my food is going with me too dammit. Needless to say i did not order rodizio dish for that reason. There is a parking lot near the back of the restaurant that is free . Dessert is ok but if you get order the panacotta and the pina colada drink is good. Full bar here as well.
Never disappointed. The food is fresh, servers are attentive, polite and fast. I ordered dinner for lunch, had the twin broiled Lobsters and Garlic shrimp for appetizer.
A perfect place to have an special meal. The staff is very friendly. 👌
Good food, good service, plenty of parking
I took a friend to this restaurant to pick up his food for him and his wife. Next day we spoke and he said his Lobster and steak dinner was exceptional. I trust him weve known each other over 40 years. Iberia is a staple in Newark and surrounding cities and towns.
Very hit or miss but always wonderful to come back and have sangria and some garlic shrimp.
A Newark staple of historic cuisine
Gets busy, the seafood is real good. Enough for 3.
