Decisions like that take time and forethought. That part of the purchase was unpleasant.The huge books with almost 700 pages of information that were given to us are full of details about how to operate the car. Thanks to Jay Brown and the rest of the friendly and professional gang for a great experience purchasing a new car. During the time of no new car inventory I ordered what I wanted from the factory (easy process). Throughout the shorter than expected wait for build and delivery, Jay went out of his way to keep me informed every step of the way. I had a few off the wall requests and he was happy to accommodate. On the pickup day, the process was quick and the staff informative and very helpful. Ive bought my share of cars and this was the best dealer experience by far. We recently purchased a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek from Collin Russel. Collin was very professional and friendly, he helped us get the exact car my daughter wanted. We had been to several Car Dealers and because of the shortage of cars, we were having a difficult time finding what we wanted. We walked into Matt Slap of Newark and Collin asked if we need help as we walked in the door. We explained what we were looking for and Collin look up the car and happen to find the car we wanted. He said it still had to be built and would arrive in September sometime and we would have to wait a few weeks. It arrived sooner then I thought. Collin even came in on a day he was off for vacation to give us our car and go over the car with us. He went above and beyond! My daughter was really happy with the car as well as us. Jay was super helpful in helping me find the right car for me. We recently found out our car was totaled and Jay worked with me to send me various cars in my price range. I told him I wouldnt be able to make it out until the following day, and he had the cars I was interested in looking at pulled up and ready to go for a test drive when I arrived. I originally went here to look at a used Honda Civic Si and unfortunately couldn’t get approved by the bank. The sales rep, Michael, and the finance manager, Greg, were so helpful. Ive been using Matt Slap for years, the quality of the service work is fine, but on my most recent visit I had a few frustrating moments. The employee at the service desk was complaining about one of his co-workers to me, which is always awkward for customers. The service person asked if there was anything else I wanted to have checked, and when I told them the other thing I wanted to have checked they said I would have to schedule another appointment for it. Even though they said that they wouldnt be able to check the one thing that I wanted them to check, they called me saying there was a list of things that they found on their inspection that they could change at that moment. If they were going to be able to replace all of these other things during my visit, I would have rather they just check the part that I had originally asked to be checked. During the phone call explaining the results of the complimentary inspection, the service person said that I would be called again when the car was ready for pickup. Two hours passed and I received no call and it was getting close to the calling time. I started to have my ride drive me down so I would be able to be there before they closed, and left a message asking if my car was ready because I hadnt heard back. When they called me back the service person said that the car had been completed. It would have been nice if they had called me when it was finished so I could have planned accordingly and not waited around the extra time.Overall, I would not necessarily suggest this shop unless it was covered under warranty.

This was my first time at Matt Slap Suburu. I was honestly impressed. I never have high hopes when having anything done at a dealership normally. This place had a whole different vibe going. Everyone was friendly, the prices were actually normal for parts and services, and my whole process from start to finish was streamlined. The waiting area is large, and there is coffee and water available. I will definitely go back to have my car serviced there.

I needed new brake pads while on a road trip during a holiday weekend, and they were able to make an emergency appointment for me to replace my pads and rotors. I have always brought my Subaru Forester here for work and had another good experience at this dealership. My car broke down and was going to need major repairs to the engine which had over 226k and was not going to be worth it to me to repair. Jenny from Service suggested they could possibly find a used motor and put that in the vehicle which would be a more reasonable price than repairing or installing a new engine.She found me a low mileage motor and the price to install it I believe was a fair price for the work thats involved with switching motors. Jenny was always professional, polite and always seem to have my best interest in mind working with me throughout the process always getting back to me within a reasonable amount of time to help with my questions and concerns. Greg the mechanic was also patient and professional answering my questions and concerns on the phone. I feel like Greg and Jenny went beyond whats expected of them to make me a very satisfied customer. Ive worked with many dealerships over the last 30 years with different vehicles and with my family and friends theres always been that hesitation not to take it to the dealerright away because of the cost. They worked with me on price for everything being done the best they could and made this experience a very good one.I could only hope that other dealerships are treating customers this way.Thanks Jenny to you and your team Ill be back to Matt Slap Subaru 🙂
Recently bought a used Hyundai from Matt Slap Subaru. Had a great experience from start to finish. A few days after my purchase, I noticed the tires needed to be balanced. One phone call and I was there the next day getting my tires balanced with no charge. Will definitely purchase from them again.
Mark Fox at Matt Slap Subaru is the bomb! Prior to my visit, I chatted with him on the phone and immediately felt comfortable with him. Im typically highly critical of people. He very friendly, helpful, and willing to find you the answer. The energy buzzing around this place is pretty high and very positive. I greatly appreciate their relaxed, no-pressure style here. You dont walk away feeling like someone got one over on you. I feel like if it werent pandemic time, these people would be the type to high-five you to congratulate you or when they are getting you. Pretty cool place with awesome people.I was sad to trade in my Yukon, but getting my new Outback from such quality individuals made it all worth it. Theyll make sure youre 100% satisfied. Normally, Id give a five because the employees are very nice and really helpful. This last time was less than excellent: my tire pressure light and lack of getting the tires rotated resulted in my need for all new tires rather than just a patch or refill (no fault of theirs.) Id have to wait 2 days for them to get and install the tires... only they were the wrong size. So what was expected to be a 2-4 hour wait turned into 4 days without my car. Great with everything else and lovely customer service.
Jay Brown took care of me from start to finish. The car I came in to see sold just before I arrived. Jay didn’t pressure me and gave me room to explore my options. He also listened to my needs and worked with my budget. He even worked the financing to get me a lower rate. In short, I got a great car at a great price. He even followed me home in the new car so I wouldn’t have to return to take delivery. I couldn’t be happier with my experience.
2nd time going to get service at this dealer and having an issue with my car not being fixed properly. After leaving the lot and getting about a 1/2 mile away, had to turn around and take it back to the shop. Upon returning the techs realized that my computer wasnt reset which was causing the issue which is something that is common sense and shouldve been done when the work wascompleted. Either way, they made sure to rectify the issue and Im back on the road.

Oil change was completed in 20 minutes. Tire rotation also.Told me they washed my car but as I drove away I could see that they did not. I asked that they make sure my tire inflation levels were at 36. They did not, but the levels were at 32 or 33 so I guess thats ok.This is the first time I have found them to be good but not perfect.

Matt Slap is the ONLY place I will be purchasing anything from ever. They were amazing. They are the only dealership that actually listened to what I had to say and helped me the way I needed to be helped. I was speaking to four different dealerships gave them all the same information but Matt Slap were the only ones that listened. They held the car I wanted (gave them the ex act VIN) for 3 days until I could get off work to sign the paperwork and Mark was genuinely excited for my family. Chloe was the best help in showing me how to use all the buttons and set my driver profile up. They truly care about you and want you to be happy. I can’t say enough nice things about them
Stopped in for routine maintenance. Even tho I had no appointment, they got the work done and even performed a recall service in good time. From valet drop-off to service rep presenting and explaining paperwork to me driving away in my CLEAN car, everyone was courteous and efficient. They make car maintenance easy.

Service is/was outstanding as usual. A loaner since it was 48 hours was great ( thought it was going to be same day, but they found a few extra things). Staff was very helpful.I took 1 star off for the price, not outrageous but a bit high.Matt Slap Subaru only sells Subaru cars ( new ), so their service guys are well trained and use to my car. Other dealers have 4 to 6 lines of cars.
I had to have my car serviced, and went to Matt Slap for the first time, I was treated like I was a regular customer, from the the phone call to make the appointment to dropping off and picking up my car, the customer service was on point! The valet service was very welcoming and friendly,great job!!, and the gentleman that explained to me what was done remembered the next day who I was without even saying anything and grabbed my paper work and I was out the door in 5 minutes, if and when Im in the market for another car I will be going to them, keep up the great customer service, its rare these days ! Review for Service on 8/24/21I returned to Matt Slap for my 3 month courtesy check on my new 2021 Outback. Everything was fine until my check in when the rep told me that I was getting the 6 month service call. My car only had 2,900 but I was taking the rep at his word, it’s what need to be done. I guess I wasn’t thinking clearly not to question it.I was grateful the women who handles the express service interjected that I should be receiving the 3,000 service and that it was a courtesy (no cost).Thank you to the Express Service manager for correcting her associate.Regardless, thank you for a good job overall. Still would get another car here. Thanks again.Just turn in my 3 yr leased Subaru Crosstrek and rolled my equity into another lease, a fabulous 2021 Outback. The sales and new car orientation Staff were very accommodating and friendly. There was no run around and the monthly payment will be exactly as the special offer $249 a month. A special shout out to Laura and Ashley for making my purchase a wonderful experience. Great job!
We had a sudden battery failure happen (only 27K miles on the car) and were heading out of town. We brought the car into Matt Slap and Michelle and the team kept at the issue to make sure we had a positive solution to get us back on the road safely. As a first time car buyer, I had a great experience buying a new car at Matt Slap. There was no hassle or pushy sales tactics. Went through the Costco auto program, pricing was straightforward and I was able to get a good deal with no negotiating necessary.When I got to the dealership, I was able to ask to see multiple different interiors and test drive two cars, which Id looked at ahead of time on their website. The sales associate at Matt Slap was very accommodating and didnt make me feel rushed, which is important to me! I got to play around with everything in my prospective new car. After the purchase, they had a knowledgeable specialist come out and get me acquainted with all the buttons and dials. It was great.They even stayed a little bit after closing to help me finish up the finances and such. I felt bad for holding them up of course, but never felt pressured by them to hurry it up. They were all very patient.If youre new to buying cars, the financing manager was very willing to explain the ins and outs of extended warranties and other extras you might want. The explanations were great, but I wouldnt recommend going in without having done research on extended warranties ahead of time so you dont get upsold.Overall, I drove out of my way to go to this dealership, but the service at Matt Slap made it worth it!

I worked primarily with Matt ( and the rest the team really added to the positivity of this experience) who really made the process as easy as it could be even arranged For a driver to pick me up and drive me to the dealership. Before i stepped into the physical location, the car of my choice was in stock i was able to get a lot of the “virtual paper work done” fairly quickly and got my car the same day !!!Price was competitive. I was impressed by the service I received at Matt Slap Subaru on 6/7/2021. I was scheduled for a 30k maintenance appointment. I received a call from Nick to advise of recommendations including for rear breaks. I asked a couple questions and decided not to replace brakes during this service. When Nick called me to advise of my car being ready for pick up he also advised me that he was able to replace my break pads under warranty and I was given new breaks at no charge. Thank you Nick for taking the time to explore my options and provide me with excellent care.

The express oil change service was quick and efficient however after I left the dealership I noticed a large dent on my passenger side front wheel well that was not there when I arrived. I’m hopeful pictures were taken before the service showing there was no damage when the car arrived

I only went to the Subaru dealership to drop off my daughters car for a recall. I have to sayit was one of the best car experiences Ive ever had. Customer service was phenomenal. They had a valet service to pick up my car and return it to me. As he was driving up I noticed the car was wet and I asked if he washed it,and he said, of course. I have never owned a Subaru, but after this experience, my next car may be a Subaru.

Everything about my experience was an absolute pleasure! My initial point of contact (as I found vehicles online) was Internet Coordinator, Tucker. He could not have been nicer. Very knowledgeable & helpful. The true shining star of my experience was my Sales Consultant, Alyce! Not only did she come in on her day off but she made both my daughter & I very comfortable as she walked me through the vehicles I showed interest in & ultimately purchased one. Her kindness & attention to detail are top notch! The Finance Manager, Chris, was also very accommodating. Fast, easy process & informative with all my questions. Even when I had to return with paperwork I didnt even have to get out of (my new) car! The General Sales Manager, Larry happened to be outside. He took my paperwork passed it to Finance Manager, Greg, who let me know everything was in order & I was good to go. However, he went back inside to retrieve an item I had left in my trade in...again, never having to get out of my vehicle. I chose to name each individual from this process because they all deserve recognition! As a team they seamlessly worked together. As individuals they went above & beyond (especially Alyce) to make something I would generally dread, buying a car, a complete joy. Ive very rarely given a top score for any review but this experience deserves a perfect score.
They were to service my air conditioner and had trouble with the unit that pressurizes the refrigerant. Being quite hot outside, they didnt want me to take my car back without air conditioning, so I was set up with a loaner vehicle until their machine was repaired, which I thought wasa very considerate gesture.

I took my car in for an unscheduled oil change. I was in and out within an hour. During the service I walked into Newark and had lunch. NIce location and nice service.
I came for a walk-in oil change, but they were able to do my full 60,000 mile maintenance. I was very pleased that my service person checked my records to see if any of the scheduled maintenance had been done recently. He saved me money! I know I can definitely get cheaper services elsewhere. However, I bring my 2013 Subaru Outback here time and time again because I know it gets done right every time! They only recommend items that need to be done and dont try to upsell me which makes me trust them more than other places! Thanks for all the years of service for both of my Subarus.

Matt Slap Subaru is very accommodating and good at making you feel important. I asked them to pick up my car so that I wouldn’t be exposed, and they willingly did it with no issues! They showed concern for me personally. You gotta appreciate that kind of service!

My tires were rotated. One of the valve stem covers was not put back on, so Im going to have to purchase one at the auto supply store.I was offered a courtesy car wash, but my car wasnt washed.Oil was spilled on the engine, so there is a burning smell. Maybe if they would have washed my car they could have sprayed off the engine.To me, its little details that make for good customer service.
