I have been in New York for about 11 years. Ive used several piano tuners, and if theres one thing Ive come to appreciate is that there is clear communication. Leopold is not only an extremely competent piano technician, but also, he listens. If you have any questions or inquiries about what hes doing or some other issue with your piano, he will take his time to explain it to you, and even show you a bit about how the mechanics of the instrument works. This makes the customer feel a lot safer. First, because it shows that the technician knows what hes doing. Second, because youre also learning a bit about what hes doing to your instrument, and so, you feel less in the dark. He also assisted me in buying a piano (I bought my Yamaha Upright from him, which he gave me at a reasonable price. And whenever I need to move my piano somewhere, he knows of good piano movers as well)I strongly recommend you try his services, and I wouldnt be surprised if, like myself, you end up sticking to his services for the rest of your life.

After years of searching for a piano technician who would replace the hammers on my 1960s Knabe console piano, I found Mr. Leopold Holder. He did a superb job, at a very reasonable price, and the piano is better than when it was new. Mr. Holder is also the finest concert tuner I have ever encountered. You cant find anyone better to keep your piano in top playing condition.

Great experience! Not only did Mr. Holder provide his honest and professional expert opinion on the likely appraised value of our familys Chickering piano, we were provided great advice without being charged an appraisal fee. Honestly and integrity goes a long way! Thanks Leopold!

NO CALL, NO SHOW! Terrible. Please do not rely on them! I booked an appointment over a week out. On the day and time of the appointment no one showed up. I emailed them and eventually Leo Holder, the tuner involved, unapologetically said “I’m working on another piano” I replied and never heard back.

After purchasing a second hand Yamaha U1 piano in excellent condition, I was faced with the task of finding a reliable piano technician. Leopold was referred to me my by another technician who I trusted but was not able to come to my place. From the start Leopold did a fantastic job. He inspected the piano, gave me a quote of how much he would have paid for the piano and educated me on what the piano needed and what his recomendation was. Knowing the piano I bought had been sitting for years, I already expected that one tuning would not do the job. The first tuning Leopold raised the pitch by almost half step and by the second tuning a week later, the piano could not have gotten much better. Leopold also adjusted the action which needed adjustment, fixed a key that was sticking and made sure all keys were tight. I am very pleased with how the tuning came out and am enjoying playing my new piano. His rates were very reasonable given the extensive experience he has working on pianos for major retailers and top music schools. As Leopold doesnt have a web presence yet, I am certain I would not have found him without the referral of the other technician. I am very greateful to have found such an honest and reliable piano technician, which is not easy these days. Thank you Leopold!
