If you value your own mental health, find somewhere else. Terribly run, and while my first Dr was wonderful (but also left the practice for the reasons due to the above), I was then placed with the worst doctor I’ve ever experienced. The months in which I had to deal with Dr Tran, my anxiety went up — everything got worse. Since excusing myself of her care, I’ve gotten so much better again.I work super hard on my mental health, and I personally need a doctor who will compliment that and care (almost) as much as I do about my mental well-being — not be a detriment to the process and a setback to my progress.Find somewhere else; you can do better.

I feel so lucky to have found Neighborhood Psychiatry! After moving, I needed to find a place that fit my needs and I am more than pleased to have found them. I have Octavia and she is wonderful, super sweet and receptive! I feel very listened to and understood. I feel so grateful! They are online at the moment and I am able to get an appointment from the comfort of my own home. Their online services are seamless and easy to use. I love being able to contact them through the app because I am able to do it any time of the day. No phone calls, no long waits, just amazing service.

I have been working with a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Neighborhood Psychiatry for over a year. I have been very happy with my practitioner and with the staff and processes at the clinic. They have been efficient, professional, and very knowledgeable. My work with my practitioner has been truly life changing and I would highly recommend her.I’m posting a second review of Neighborhood Psychiatry as I’ve seen some negative comments. I continue to have nothing but positive experiences with the staff and my therapist. I have been working with them for over a year and like them very much.

Excellent, caring, professional and supportive services. Highly recommend this practice.Edit: Wow. Just looked at some of the negative reviews after posting this that others have left, and Im surprised to read some of these. My experience has been the complete opposite, so Ill go into a bit more detail...In the year+ that Ive been coming here everything has been smooth: timely refills using the patient portal app, good staff communication using the scheduling app, and a caring relationship with the practitioner who tailors his recommendations to my orientation towards holistic care.I cant think of anything I would improve or do differently except maybe consider support for clinical trials of new forms of natural therapeutics. That said the practice does revolve around technological systems. Its very much app based, and if youre not comfortable working within an app driven framework via a phone for care then I can see how NP could be a difficult service experience. That would be my only caution: if you dont want to interface with a practice using an app ecosystem, then this practice wouldnt be a good choice for you.If youre comfortable installing the spruce app and communicating through that from the get-go then I expect youll have a smooth and positive experience.Im grateful to have found a reliable and compassionate practitioner.

I was referred here and falsely informed that they were offering sliding scale which they do not. The fee is expensive and was never mentioned to me before the intake, so I had no idea what I was going to pay until I had done the intake appointment. The nurse I spoke too didn’t seem interested in listening to my experience and I felt like was rushing to a conclusion which didn’t make sense to me about my own Health and when I clarified it felt ignored. All of the contact before the appointment was through an app and get very robotic and impersonal.

I went here from 2017-2019, AT FIRST it was a lovely experience. Don’t know what changed, but anything admin related became a nightmare. They were rude and unhelpful and any interaction that wasn’t directly with my psychiatrist was guaranteed to be an unpleasant experience. Every appointment I had to make sure I had 3x the copay in my account because they would frequently charge me three times and it would take practically until the next appointment to get them to fix it. Thankfully right when I got to the point where I couldn’t deal with it anymore my provider also got to that point and left for another practice that took my insurance.I never leave negative reviews, but I cannot stress how much I do NOT recommend going here. It’s the exact opposite of what a mental health care experience should be.

I rarely write reviews so that should already tell you something. The administrative staff here is rude and they require a ridiculous amount of appointments for refills. Feels like a money suck. My therapists office ended their professional relationship with this practice and no longer refers patients there because of how they treat their patients. FIND SOMEONE ELSE

I just want to say that Dr. Orshanskaya is incredible, and this review is not a reflection on her at all. Shes kind, understanding, and competent. However, the office is IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with. Supposedly, I was sent a refill for my medication but it never showed up. I have called repeatedly, messaged through the Portal, messaged through the video conferencing app (Spruce), had my pharmacy try to get in contact every day this week. The only response I received was this, 4 days later on Spruce, with a stunning lack of empathy:Please note the auto responder and utilize the proper platform for medications in order to receive a timely response as admin cannot address these concerns. Spruce had 230+ messages at all times which does not allow for clinical matters to be addressed here. We can see you sent a message to Marisa, she will respond over the portal.I am now splitting my remaining pills into quarter and half doses so I dont go into withdrawal before my next appointment with my PCP. I will not be going back here if I can help it. As someone who has worked in support operations for 5+ years, making someone wait this long or this urgently for FAR FAR LESS serious inquiries would be considered a failure. This is unethical and cruel, particularly during a pandemic.

If you pay out of pocket they change the cost frequently and charge an obscene change/missed appointment fee. Not easy to reach anyone on staff if you have questions or need a refill. Ive had my clinician changed several times in 3 years. The clinicians provided are not even very good. They run through a list of questions and end the appointment there. No connection or personable care. Plus they force you to meet with your clinician every month even if that is not necessary. Their treatment model is about making money not helping patients.

Ive been anxiously waiting to post this review once I could get on a new insurance & w/ a new practitioner. I was honestly worried theyd kick me out of their system for complaining.Everything the negative reviews say are true & Im thoroughly convinced that the positive reviews are paid posts. I was with NPA for two years due to having out-of-state insurance. In fact, I just gleefully informed them today I would be terminating my care with them after finally acquiring new insurance. NPA is the farthest from compassionate & heres a few of my highlights for further illustration:1. The biggest issue I had is their lack of responsivity. Their website claims they require at least three business days for refill requests. Considering most medications wont allow you to even request a refill until a certain amount of time has elapsed since you last filled the prescription (usually 20 to 25 days)- this is an outrageous wait time. This typically leaves you up to a two day sweet spot where you can request a refill, wait the minimum required three day business days & not run out. If you miss that two day period & request a refill with only three days or less of your medication remaining, they will certainly leave you to your withdrawals. I missed that two day window once. I called them for three days straight, after placing a number of requests through their online portal, direct email & direct messenger to my practitioner. On the third day, I was informed that my practitioner is only in the office twice a week & doesnt check email any other days. That means that 5 out of 7 days a week, I cannot get in touch with anyone for a refill. I see that this is a pattern on their part (per previous reviews). They know their patients access to medication is life-threateningly critical (the withdrawals landed me in the hospital) & they still insist on playing gatekeeper for refills.2. The administration says they pride themselves on patient care. However, their policies make it abundantly clear that their only concern is making money. Ive been on the same medication for six years & yet policies insisted I see a practitioner every single month, regardless of where I was in treatment or affordability (if I was lucky, my practitioner would sneakily forego for every other month). I would show up, inform my practitioner nothing has changed, acquire my allotted refills & pay up. Also, their fees are insane ($100-$150 for missed, cancelled or rescheduling (including illness)).They require two full days notice for illness. How is anyone supposed to predict getting sick? This is especially cruel considering the circumstances of this year. My favorite laugh is their current cancellation policy that states theyre happy to waive cancellation fees in light of COVID-19, but have since returned to their regular cancellation policy (which includes late, sick & illness) as of March 31st. In other words, they waived cancellation fees for all of two weeks. Sorry, thats not compassion. Especially considering a large percentage of NYC residents (aka their current patients) were losing their jobs & the lives of loved ones at this time.3. Money & lack of responsivity aside, NPA is generally callous as an administration. This is not a knock on the practitioners. In fact, they were generally helpful. However, we (the practitioners & myself) consistently lamented the administration policies that made both our lives more frustrating. Furthermore, their failure to hire proper administrative workers (cough *reception) who have any ounce of compassion/care for the people theyve been hired to help is highly discouraging. My favorite instance of frustration came during their switch to virtual appointments. They lost all of my patient forms (HIPPA- etc. - those which I even received confirmations of receipt for) & then threatened to terminate my care with them for questioning why I needed to resubmit forms I already had receipt of confirmation for. When I finally got someone on the phone- they confided their system had crashed & lost all submitted forms.

Ive been a patient here for over two years and can honestly say that I will be looking for a new practice effective immediately. That being said, good luck trying to schedule and appointment or refill a prescription without having to go through an extremely frustrating experience each and every time. Its sad to say that the receptionists and office staff here are not only completely unprofessional, but unbelievably rude to the point that I genuinely get anxiety whenever I have to call or go into their office for an appointment. My actual doctor Marissa is wonderful but sadly the ordeal of having to deal with anyone else that works in the office has forced me to find a new practice. I strongly recommend exploring all other options before settling for such a disgraceful excuse for a business that’s sole purpose should be to improve people’s mental health, not negatively impact it.

Been going here a year to see an NP (not a psychiatrist). I think the issues people are having are due to the psychiatrists that work here rotating pretty often (as well as a lot of the office staff). I don’t normally leave reviews but I cannot understand what all of the negative reviews are about.I have had nothing but positive experiences in this place. The staff is friendly and helpful and my nurse practitioner is great.Yes, they require monthly follow ups but honestly I like touching base every month regarding my medications and I don’t feel like I’m being “scammed” in any wayThis practice has seen a lot of change in a short amount of time and like every other organization they really do their best. The new patient portal is great, easy to use and sends appointment reminders multiple times. It also allows me to contact my clinician directly as well as the admin staff and request refills through there.Their policies are posted on both floors so yes, I do expect to be charged a $100 late cancellation fee. I feel like they do a very good job in being as transparent as they can be about their fees. This office is staffed by two people, OF COURSE THWY CAN’T PICK UP ALL PHONE CALLS. COME ON PEOPLE. DOES EVERY OFFICE YOU CALL PICK UP YOUR CALL? ARE YOU NOT ON HOLD FOR AT LEAST 20 MINUTES? Leave a message and someone will call you back, I have never had a problem with getting a call back at least 24 hours later.I have witnessed people yelling at the staff here more than once without realizing they do not make the policies. They are only doing their jobs.BOTTOM LINE - IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE THAY WILL REFILL YOUR MEDICATIONS ONLY, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. IT IS NOT A WALK IN CLINIC AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SHOW UP EVERY MONTH IN ORDER TO RECEIVE REFILLS OF MEDICATIONS.

I’ve been going here for about a year and I’m so dissatisfied. It’s so incredibly difficult to get a hold of someone over the phone, especially when I’m running out of pills and need my psychiatrist to refill them before our appointment. The service is slow, although I’m always on time for my appointments, I’m always seen about 20 minutes late even though there’s nobody else there. My psychiatrist left the practice so I made an appointment with someone else and she said she didn’t hear me buzz in, even though she was the one who let me in. She saw me on her way out the door, obviously headed home, and claimed she didn’t know I showed up for my appointment and regardless treated me. She was the one who buzzed me in so I don’t understand how she didn’t know I was there! This practice needs more serious, experienced practitioners and better receptionists.

The front desk staff and getting an appointment was easy. The office is a nice space. This is one of the only psychiatrists that seems to take insurance in the city. However, the practitioners here gave me false information and dismissed my side effects, saying they were due to my anxiety and not a medical symptom. I went to see other specialists who said that the practitioners had given me incorrect information. I have had experience with the medical field and so I know not to always trust what doctors say immediately and to do some of my own research and get second opinions. Not everyone will have this luxury. They should know to avoid this practice.

Pros1. The psychiatrist Dr. Aditi Vohra and the nurse practitioner Melissa Moy, both were great. Melissa Moy was exceptionally skilled, well mannered, reasonable and professional. Both have left the Neighborhood Psychiatry practice.2. Scheduling appointments was never an issue for me personally. I liked the online appointment scheduling for new patients.3. The reception staff try to help to the best of their abilities. I understand that they didnt make the policies. Depends on who is at the reception desk. Ive seen pleasant to indifferent to cold people staffing the reception desk.4. Effort was made to communicate patient portal change and clinician change.Cons1. Being billed for a psychiatrist (x6 times ) when I actually saw the nurse practitioner seems like a money making scam. I actually saw the psychiatrist only twice in the 1.5 year of service.2. On-site payments do not match the online insurance claim copays. So they were playing catch up at the end of the year for all the overpayment they had charged me early in the year. They never mentioned that to me. I found out by doing calculations based off of their claims to my insurance.3. Hefty cancellation fee of 100 to 150 $ is ridiculous. They would rather have a patient come in sick and spread germs rather than be reasonable and waive the $100 fee for genuine reasons. If they are fine with me spreading germs thats great cus Im not paying 100$ out of pocket for being sick on the same day of the appointment and unable to reschedule 2 bussiness days in advance.

I have a great relationship with my doctor and there is no issue there. My gripe with this office is management. They never answer the phone. Never. Period. They cant be bothered. You have to leave a voicemail and hope that someone will get back to you, which rarely happens. At my last session I informed my doctor I had been trying to contact her for days by calling the office but no one would ever answer the phone or return my voicemails. She indicated she would look into the issue as it was unacceptable. Alas, nothing has changed.Upon walking in to the office each time, there is never a friendly greeting. More of a, what do you want? attitude and energy upon arrival. But they suddenly spring to life when its time to collect your copay.Recently, I waited over 35 minutes in the waiting room for my therapist to walk out of her office to take me in. When I approached the receptionist that I could wait no longer due to other appointments, she said she forgot to tell me my doctor had been moved to another floor in the building. The time I took off from work for the appointment was completely wasted. Again, I like my doctor and would like to continue seeing her, but I do not like going to this office due to the unfriendliness and incompetence. Upon reading the reviews here, its clear other patients are having identical experiences.

Working with Neighborhood Psychiatry has been painful to put it mildly. There are some key areas that have made my patient experience unpleasant:1. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Their front office staffs demeanor and behavior is so abhorrent its almost laughable (over the phone and in person). For example, I went in to pick up paperwork and records in person (because I couldnt trust them to handle over the phone or their temperamental Patient Portal) and the woman that was working the front desk seemed to not have any clue how to access my records. My doctor left the practice (something that had been announced ahead of time) and there seemed to be no system in place to access patient files in a clean and efficient way. I had to email the doctor (that doesnt even practice there anymore) to ask her to instruct the office staff to find my files. You would think that this would be a simple request but the admin staff seemed to struggle with the basic task of finding a patient file. When I finally got the paperwork, I was handed a jumbled mess and told this was they could do and that if something was missing, there wouldnt be anything else they could do. Unacceptable.2. PATIENT CARE: It is clear they are in the business of not providing true psychiatric care but simply writing prescriptions for patients that come in,.Understand that their OOP fees are on the low end for psychiatric care in NYC but this should not affect the level of care received from the providers. I do not have confidence that my doctor had a comprehensive understanding of my medical needs. On her last day with the practice, the doctor wrote me a curt note via the Patient Portal indicating that the practice was not equipped to handle my needs and that I should reach out to my insurance provider to find a different MP. Not even courtesy of a referral. This is after I had paid over $500+ in OOP fees to Neighborhood Psychiatry. Keep in mind I was seeking treatment for pretty standard issues (ADHD, anxiety, etc.). Thank goodness I am not suffering from something more significant or I would be scrambling to find another doctor after this practice basically told me to eff off. For a provider that should be helping to promote mental wellness for its patients, you would think at a minimum theyd be able to treat them with respect and dignity.3. LACK OF RESPONSIVENESS: To add insult to injury they asked all patients being cared for my doctor that was leaving the practice to please request to be moved to a different doctor if interested in remaining with the practice. I requested to be shifted to a new doctor and when I went into the office the last week of Oct (to pay a balance so that they wouldnt hold my paperwork hostage), they confirmed in person that I had an upcoming appointment with the new doctor I had been shifted to. When I just went to login to their faulty online portal today to request a prescription refill, I could see that my appointment was no longer in the system. It also kept deleting my requests to refill my prescription. When I called the office (after 3x tries, someone finally picked up the phone WOOHOO) they said that maybe the appointment was deleted. No call, no notice, no nothing, When I asked about the prescription that Ive been trying to refill, I was told again that I need to just reach out to the Dr. that left the practice again and hopefully she can refill it. Down to my last pill and hoping I get a response.....

The most unprofessional Doctors office. The financial policy states that the office can charge your card for any remaining fees after a copay; however they do this without giving you any official notice of payment, it just shows up on your invoice. When I called it request the invoice; the automated phone line wasnt even working properly, it would just greet you and then hang up.I had to contact the office three times to get an actual invoice for my appointment. Apparently thats not part of their traditional practice; however this doesnt make any sense to me. How can patients even be sure that the charge is correct if they arent given an official invoice outlining the charge?I was going to have a follow up appointment; however the receptionist scheduled me for a time when the Nurse Practitioner was not in the office and they didnt have a comparable time available for weeks. So Ive now been put on medication that I cant even get a follow up on.When I asked the receptionist if they could remove my info from the system; she hung up on me. Unprofessional for any business; but a psychiatrists office should really take into consideration the stress they are placing on their patients.Jennifer herself was great and seemed to really care about getting me placed on the right meds. If she ever moved practices I would see her again; but the business itself is so disorganized its not worth it.

My experience here was so awful that I’m posting a review for the very first time anywhere.First:It took me 3 days to finally get someone to answer my constant phone calls and emails just to make an appointment. Days After I made an appointment was they called me 3 times to ask if I’ve already booked an appointment... and then eventually the rescheduled me two weeks later. In total it took me 3 weeks from my Initial call just to get in the door today.Second:Customer service is important to me as I’m sure it is to most. That doesn’t exist here. Might as well just take a number before you finally follow a receptionist down a back stairway into their second office.Third:After about 30 minutes after my appointment time I sat down with the nurse practitioner. She went over the survey they had me fill out. Halfway through the survey I was asked about what substances I consume and how frequently. When she asked me if I smoked weed I replied yes (it’s 2019 people) and she said we’ll come back to that. After answering some very personal questions and completing the survey the nurse or doctor or whatever her title was looks up at me blankly And says, “we can not take you as a patient because you have a problem with marijuana”. And that’s it. She showed me the door and I left. It was so rude and unbelievable. Mind you they already charged me for the 20 minute survey. What’s even more absurd is how i felt after I left. I was so angry about being essentially kicked out and having my time wasted that it started making me anxious completely defeating the purpose of my visit. Btw it was for an ADHD referral requested by my primary care doctor.3 week wait for an hour of time wasted. And ya they charged me for it.Don’t waste your time here. This place is quite possibly one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a doctors office. Also please don’t ask to waste more of my time Neighborhood psychiatry. I’m not interested in receiving your copy pasted response that you’ve sent to every other person who has complained.

Very bad experience. Had set up an appointment with them two weeks in advance, they only called to confirm insurance information (that had already been submitted previously online). They said they needed to verify my insurance before I could see them, I tried calling them all day to confirm since they called me when I was in a meeting at work so I asked if I could call within 30 min, but they never answered again. I left 2 voicemails with my confirmation and information, even though I had told the lady on the phone that I was confirming my appointment. They never called me back, and the next day (the day of the appointment) I just happened to call back again and this time after almost 20 minutes of back and forth they ended up telling me I could not come because I had not gone through the further screening process they have for insurance so the doctor or nurse practitioner (because apparently the doctor wont see you anyway) wouldnt see me. They made me lose the day of work I had already taken believing my appointment was ok. It did not matter that I stated I needed to see the doctor. This is the reason why so many people with issues have problems getting help and even chose not to go to the doctor. The only interest is the money as people have stated here already. They rebooked my appointment with someone else in less than half a day and did not even inform me until i chose to call myself again.

Worst nurse practitioner I’ve ever had. I went there yesterday for help - specifically for ADHD. I get a call today that apparently they cannot help me. Yet they have such a strange credit card policy as well, It’s suspicious. I overall do not recommend!! They only care about the money!!!

From a medical perspective, the fact that they take time to get to know their patients is unprecedented in the industryFrom a business perspective, their practices are FRAUDULENT. THEY CHARGED $90 copay claiming it was bc I didn’t meet my deductible (“maybe”) yet I just called my insurance and they confirmed that my copay should NEVER be more than $30 as listed on my insurance ID regardless of whether I have met my deductible.Thank god I have American Express so I can flag the charge and not pay the $90.They did NOT inform me that the copay was $90 on the phone while confirming the appointment and when I asked the receptionist she told me it would be whatever was listed on my insurance id.Finally, I was told it would take “at least 2-3 sessions” to figure out a treatment plan, when I really just needed to get a refill of a medication I’ve been on for the last year! And I’d already run out of the med for a week - the practitioner I saw simply stared at me awkwardly and said “sorry to disappoint you” yet I could feel that she relished in this odd power dynamic and was HAPPY to disappoint meI left this practice feeling frustrated and traumatized and ultimately lied to about what the time and financial investment would be to receive appropriate careIt is such a shame because what they’re trying to do (provide THOROUGH care) is amazing but they need to be upfront about the timing, process, and investment and not refuse to refill an rx for a patient in need simply bc they’re more wedded to the ideals of their policy than your needs and careI am a business consultant. I can’t imagine doing HALF the work and then going back to my client, telling them to pay me 2-3x more in order for me to finish the jobThis is New York!Smooth your communications and streamline the experience and don’t cheat hard working people out of their money by charging triple copay

They will charge you $100-$150 if you are 10 minutes late to your appointment: I was 10 minutes late due to train traffic. When I arrived, the receptionist told me that I would be charged for arriving 10 minutes late, and they considered this as having missed my appointment. I asked how long appointments last and he said 10 minutes. Very inflexible and inconsiderate policy.

I love how now that theyre getting caught out for being lying, theiving, and downright dangerous fraudsters their owner is posting specious arguments regarding their commitment to serve (read: pick pockets) Lets see if this Nameless Practice Manager owner referrs to actually has the fortitude to communicate with us, or if it isnt just spin to massage a deservedly tarnished reputation.
