Great doctor!!! Took the time to explain what I needed to do, explained the medication and how it would work. And it just so happened that I recently had an ear piercing and it got infected. And I woke up to find that the piercing ‘sunk into’ the skin. I mentioned that to him and he actually took the time to thoroughly disinfect it, and gently removed it, totally out of scope! TRUE doctor!!!!!! And the staff are amazing too!

I am writing again because my experience has been so amazing! I went into for my actual treatment (Co2 Resurfacing Laser) today. They made sure I was super numb and did not rush the process- the actual procedure was fast and easy. They made sure to ask if I was okay constantly and made sure I was okay. HIGHLY recommend this practice--especially Dr. Akhavan. I decided to try this dermatologist after experiencing consistent 2-hour waits in my prior dermatologists office (who supposedly is best in the city... but he overcharges and his staff seems stressed and unhappy). Dr. Akhavan and his staff are kind, efficient, courteous, and seem to really enjoy what they do--and they run this practice for the benefit of their patients (not the other way around). As a new patient, I was allowed to fill out some optional forms on my smartphone in advance; I was shown in to see the doctor and his assistant less than 5 minutes after my appointment time. Grateful and appreciative--and now Ill never go anywhere else. Five stars, DEFINITELY.

After purchasing a package of fractional laser resurfacing treatments, in my follow up appointment I mentioned that I wasn’t completely happy with the results. He generously offered to perform another treatment that day to help me feel more satisfied. I am pleased to say the additional top off turned out to be all that I needed to see that last bit of improvement I wanted and I am now very happy with my results. I have been seeing Dr. Porter for approximately a 9 months to a year now. Every visit I had was pleasant. For one they accept my insurance. I had a very active outburst of acne and the doctor provided me with a care regimen tailored to my life and my skin type that worked over the course of my visits. They have very good communication medium, they send out doctor notes as text on mobile in encrypted format. They also do a regular follow up and also helped me cut down with prescription prices. I have been to the office for both medical skin and cosmetic reasons, and I find the office and setting very professional and the staff friendly and accommodating. Ive never had to wait very long, compared to most doctors offices and I can get in and out pretty quickly, making it easy to make an appointment over lunch.What I like most about the office though, is having moved here a couple of years ago, is that I found a doctor I feel comfortable with on both a medical and cosmetic basis. Ive found in the past, that while many doctors do both, they focus on one more than the other and it shows when you talk to them. Ive found more cosmetic doctors not really as competent/educated in my medical concerns, and more medically-focused doctors who tend to be dismissive of my cosmetic concerns because that arent as serious. Both are important to me.Dr Akhavan has been very helpful on both ends and I feel very comfortable that he can speak to me about both concerns equally. I would recommend this office for both medical and cosmetic issues.

Terrible experience! they told me that the wart on my foot would be easily taken off, all it would cost would be my $70 office visit cost. (this was after taking my insurance card and looking up my benefits) 6 weeks go by and still no follow up on if my skin growth (changed to a skin growth now) was benign or not. (also i got two more bills in the meantime one from them for an additional $112 more!) I called the office and they said that they would call me back with my results shortly. Morale of the story is that they dont follow up with their patients and also bill the heck out of the insurance on things that they KNOW arent needed. When Dr Arash Akhavan called me back, he said that this is something that they know is not treated in one visit and that i would have to continually come back for visits and pay $70 + insurance billings of their discretion. If they would of told me all of this information from the beginning, I would of never made that decision to cut my foot open and to have to do that every couple weeks. NOT FUN! Was completely misguided and the owner/Dr completely supports it! WOULD STAY CLEAR OF THIS PRACTICE.

I called bc im looking for a dermatologist, not a plastic surgeon to do my procedure but the girl answering the phone this afternoon has limited knowledge. This could be ok if its handled professionally. The issue is that she was rude and was totally unprofessional. Dont apply for a job answering phones if you dont want to talk to pts for 2 mins. answering totally reasonable questions. if you dont know, educate yourself, dont be rude to pts.She also said A subcision was done using a laser first .. if you dont know what the procedure is, dont make stuff up bc I know that’s not true, theyre two totally different procedures. A subcision is not a laser.. I symphatize with pts who are told inaccurate information by lazy or careless office personnel, especially when it involves their medical care.

My experience with laser tattoo removal using the PicoSure machine could not have been better. Dr. Akhavan and the entire staff made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in and the process was 100% painless. I will definitely be back!

Giving this rating for Poor customer service and not giving any value to customers time.Im a breastfeeding mom with a 4 months old baby and I wanted quality, relaxed and safe treatment. Upon arrival, I learned that they (Ashley) had never booked my appointment even though we had communicated via email and I had it in writing. The tried to give me another appointment next week. This was extra difficult for me because I had done lots of arrangements (preparing baby, arranging babysitter, etc) to make this time work. When I finally told them I want my deposit back and not come back again, they took me in after 30 mins. All this time I didnt get a single apology from any of the staff including Ashley who completely ignored me when I was standing next to her at the reception. This was not a cheap treatment (650$ for one session) and I totally expected a better customer service.

Ive visited this office quite a few times over the years. The medical treatment Ive gotten has invariably been beneficial, and the staff has always been professional, courteous, and friendly—not to mention good-humored and just plain nice.

Dr. Akhavan was extremely good. My family has a history of skin cancer and I believed I needed some moles removed. Dr. Akhavan examined them and she was extremely detailed what she thought about each one, showing me some examples - and was able to remove both of them right there at that moment. They have healed well. She was a great doctor and made sure to give me all the details I needed to take care after at home - and her office followed up to tell me whether they were melanoma and if I needed to return.Thank you!

I really would like to give this place 4 1/2 stars. The facilities is clean and there is plenty of room for you to sit. My appointment was for 2pm, and I didnt wait more than 15 before I was taken in to see the doctor. The doctor was knowledgeable and told me things that my other dermatologist failed to mention to me. I have a follow with him next month. For my first visit I was not impressed by my greeting or the way I was being taken care of. The two young girls in the front had no personality. Would it hurt to smile and look at the person your talking to. These two are the reason why I gave this review a 4 1/2 rating.

I really cannot recommend Dr. Akhavan highly enough. I started going to a former colleague of his and when she left I switched to Dr. Akhavan and have never looked back. Dr. Akhavan is very thoughtful in his recommendations and they have made a real impact on my skin.I love that he has so many non surgical methods to improve skincare and I am impressed that he consistently is upgrading his machines and technology in order for his patients to have the best results. I was so excited for my consultation due to the amazing reviews, only to be disappointed.When I made my first inquiry via email, Alyssa was very kind so I scheduled the consult, but had to reschedule due to work.When I sent my new date, I was accused of no-showing and told of the consult fee.After sending Alyssa our email correspondence, she noticed I did not no -show. This did not sit well, but I still decided to move forward with the consult as I’m suffering from melasma.The day of the consult, I arrived about 20-30 mins early, the receptionists did not seem genuine, approachable or welcoming.After filling out the paper work and paying for the consult, I met Dr. Akhavan whom is very knowledgeable, but unfortunately I felt rushed and like I did not matter.There also ended up being a misunderstanding between me and Alyssa (via email) about the prices and packages.I was told to make a follow up appointment at the desk for my first session, but at this point the receptionist did not even acknowledge me so I walked out left feeling really down and unvalued.

Friendly, attentive receptionists, communicative, have rarely had to wait much longer past scheduled appointment time. Sarah Porter is awesome.

I was told it was okay but that I may have to wait a few minutes. I waited over an hour and 15 patiently and then when inquired was then told that I could not get an ETA on when Id be seen because I was late and others after me where on time. Granted ...I was late but give me an option, that answer did not sit well with me. I would have totally rescheduled to avoid spending an entire afternoon waiting. In any case, after pushing a bit - I was seen in the next 10 min and all was forgiven after meeting with Dr. Azfar. She is patient and thorough.
