I’m going to be honest. I have not gone on the tour yet. Me and my husband got tickets the night before - it made no difference. Expect long lines!!!!!!!!!! The security check is literally like a tsa security check - with shoes on (fortunately). Just watched a few people not get entry through the check because they didn’t have masks. I can’t believe the staff just didn’t give them masks. Such a cold world we live in. I suggest you go on google images and look up statue of liberty at the comfort of your home.

Our scheduled ticket time was 11, but we did not set sail until 11:45 because of security and boarding lines. Once on the islands, the ferry was on time and followed a precise schedule. You have to pay close attention to the posted schedule for NYC or Jersey so you can allocate how much time youd like to spend on each island. Despite choppy waters and impending storms, it was a smooth ride. You can choose to sit indoors or outdoors. Snacks, restrooms, and small souvenirs are available. Sit on the right for the best views of Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty going in, then the Manhattan skyline on the return trip.

It was a nice experience and very quick to get into the ships, however they get a little bit crowded so if you want a good spot for pictures, be quick to find a place. There are food and snacks for sale, and it’s very nice when you are getting closer to the statue.

Loved this tour. It was affordable but they didn’t give us much guidance on how long we were stopping at each place. So you are aware- when you get to Liberty Island you can get off and take pictures then get back on the boat. The boat leaves within 15 mins but new boats come every 25 mins. Then same thing for Ellis Island. Many people stand up at the top instead of sitting down which caused the view to be blocked. I went first thing in the morning at 10am so the boat was full but not over packed. Arrive early to get the best seats.

City Pass works great but you need a separate ticket to go up the Statue. Also, you need to clear a security check before being admitted. Since Covid, they have done scheduled tours/reservations but they did not check any times for us. Seems like you can get your ticket and go whenever you want.

Pros: Can pre-book tickets online ahead of time for a variety of access/tours that suit your interests (tickets include access to Liberty and Ellis islands), ferry service is VERY prompt (these folks leave ON TIME to the second for the posted schedule), and boat is clean with adequate seating and makes frequent stops to each island (no more than 30 mins waiting between boats).Cons: Security screening ahead of boarding has a long line (it moves fast, but they x-ray your bags and walk you thru a metal detector). They also require masks, but the boat is really an open air kind of setup.I recommend booking an early trip and showing up 30 minutes before your booked time to ensure you get to board that specific ferry. If you miss it, its not an issue at all, you will just be waiting 25 mins for the next ride. There is so much to see between the two islands, that you will need the whole day.

They keep a pretty good schedule, but the boats are quite old. The benches are so uncomfortable, to the point that a lot of people like to stand, might that be the idea? The process of getting on the plane and getting off the car is very slow. One plank, wide enough for two people. Hence causing a lot of nasty congestion in the cabin as people lined up for the funnel-shaped exit. The crew is excellent, very helpful and professional. The time has come to have them some tools to make their job easier and safer.this is the first time I go by ship in NYC.Thats so awesome

Sorry to read quite a few negative reviews about Statue Cruises but I can only go by my experience with them. First thing be aware of other cruise lines claiming to offer tickets to Liberty Island, Statue Cruises to my knowledge is the official boat & much cheaper than others from what I was able to see. Second, purchase your tickets online as to avoid waits during peak hours. Also sad to hear/read comments regarding security measures. People they do this not only for our safety but also the safety of Lady Liberty !! Come on now stop your whining & appreciate what they do !! Each & every person working on and off the boat were beyond curtious, welcoming & just so nice. The boat ride was so enjoyable, perfect weather made it even more so. Cannot wait until her Crown is open, definitely going back.. Thank you Statue Cruises !!

I bought 4 tickets for an specific time, when we get there I found a line around almost the whole battery park, I was on vacation so I have another tours and attractions to visit (with reservations for an specific time) so it doesnt make any sense that they ask you to pick a time to do your tour, but thats not true you will have to wait hours. I couldnt make that tour so was frustrated, of course I wanted my money back and I asked for it but the answer was that I must do the line doesnt matter the time of tickets (so doesnt matter if you loose your time for them). They were not professional, and not respectful at all. If they let us know that before there is not an specific time we will be prepared for that, so for example you buy a ticket to take the boat at 10 am you will probably take the tour at 12pm, then if you wanna take this tour be prepared to make a long line and miss your other plans, or miss your money. I dont recommend this company.

I wish I was able to review the experience, but due to poor customer service, my family and I were unable to do so. We recently took a family trip to NYC. We were ordering tickets and making reservations for everything before we left home so everything would already be booked and ready when we got to the area. I went to their site and tried to order 4 tickets for the Ellis Island ferry for Tue. June 15. The page refreshed as I was purchasing them and I ended up with 4 tickets for 11am the next morning. We were still home in Columbus, Ohio and would not even be near the area the next morning to try and use the tickets. With it being less than 24 hours before my reservation, I had no way to cancel my tickets. I immediately called them and got no answer as it was around 6pm, so I emailed the company using the information given under their contact us section. No response. Later the next day, I got an email asking how I enjoyed the trip. Tried to call again multiple times during business hours but couldnt get ahold of anyone. Sent another email. Still no response of any sort from the company. I was hoping they would offer any sort of help, originally just wanted to change the ticket dates, but now Id like a refund and am disputing it with my credit card company. Really disappointing.

A must-see. Ferries are efficient and clean, and both Liberty and Ellis Island sites are well-staffed and full of fantastic exhibits.Only complaint is boarding the ferry at Battery Park. Especially with the construction going on nearby, the front of the line is not obvious and lacks signage, so arrive a few minutes before your ticket time to find it if you dont want to have to wait 20 minutes for the next boat. No big deal though, lots of park workers and NYPD around to direct you if you ask.

Statue Cruises is literally the only way to get yourself onto the Statue of Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Its a good idea to purchase your tickets online well in advance. Otherwise, if you are a City Pass holder, you MUST show up early in the day because the afternoon cruises are guaranteed to be sold out. The line is ridiculously long most of the time, and the actual listed cruise time is irrelevant as nobody actually catch the boat at the time it says on the ticket. The cruise process works as such: 1) Pick up tickets at Clinton Castle, 2) get in line in Battery Park, 3) go through an airport-style security check point, 4) get on a boat to take you to Statue of Liberty Island, 5) get back in line for a boat to take you to Ellis Island, and 6) get back in line for a boat to take you back to Battery Park. In all, easily half of your touring day will be gone if you decide to do this cruise. If you just want to see the Statue of Liberty, consider the free option of riding the Staten Island Ferry...

Crowded: Yes; Touristy: Yes; Herd through like cattle: Yes. A must-see in New York: YES.When you arrive at the Battery Park ferry landing, youll enter through airport-like security, but not as bad. Just standard metal detector, bags x-ray. Long line but moves pretty quick. Once on the ferry, its exciting to see the statue and island grow larger and larger as you get close. One on the island, it really is breathtaking. Yes, theres crowds and tourists everywhere with selfie sticks, but if you tune them out, you can still admire the majesty of Lady Liberty. TIP: Get the pedestal access. Its the same price as the island-only access, and it is really cool to go up inside. Skip the crown, overrated. Also, if you go up the pedestal, be brave and take the stairs. Unless youre really out of shape or limited mobility, the stairs are doable. A challenge and youll feel a little winded when you reach the top of the pedestal, but the reward of walking out the door and looking out over the island is even sweeter! Do it. Dont be lazy. :)Avoid bringing any bags or anything unnecessary if youre going up the pedestal. Theres a second security checkpoint and you cannot bring anything more than a small camera. No bags, no backpacks, no large cameras/tripods. You need to check all that stuff in lockers at the base.Bring some small bills: Lockers are only a buck or two, but only take cash and give no change.Lastly, there can be large lines to leave the island. Dont be discouraged, the line may look super long but the ferries hold an unbelievable amount of people and come literally every few minutes so theres not much wait.

We had a horrible experience visiting the Statue of Liberty via Statue City Cruises. Their security checkpoint was more stringent than airline security, and the staff was rude: tossing personal items on the counter, and laughing at someone in my party who had forgotten their knife in their bag. Ineffectual as well: once leaving the security tent, you were herded outside to an area without security staff that was easily accessable from the rest of Battery Park. And I do mean literally herded, there was no line per say, just a mass of people all straining against each other to get on the ferry. This happened both getting to and coming back from the island. If there was any other option for getting to the Statue of Liberty, I would be suggesting that.

4 stars when the views and tour deserve 5. The reason why, the people running the security are basically rude. The people near me in line not with me though were not listening, so I guess that is why they are rude. It is nothing short of a cluster f***. They really should hire a new security contract. The older lady working for NPS on the dock was also rude and inconsiderate. She waitied till the last possible minute to tell everyone to push forward and fill the gaps. Which had people getting offensive due to line cutting. She should of just told everyone over and over again to fill in the gaps and move forward. The ellis island has tremendous history and you could spend a good 1/2 to 3/4 day to read and see everything there. Would def use this business whem visiting again to see the Ststue and Ellis Island.

Nice experience, though not a cruise, it is a ferry only.Beware of the scam ticket agents. They will push you hard & the police just sits inside their cars & vans parked there, allowing the scamsters to prove that the police are aware of them & approves the same. Police should take immediate action on these ticketing agents as it is clearly written on the board that these guys arent authorized. They were trying to block me from entering the park saying that we need to be authorized to enter & it is not a free entry, which is false & theyre able to do it only because of the inaction of the policemen sitting inside the van.Go ahead straight to the brick building as they say & do not fall prey to these scammers.Tickets & audio tour costs USD 18.50 & takes you to both Ellis Island & Statue of Liberty.Expect a nice view & a smooth ride. Extremely disorganized company with a monopoly. You don’t need to print your tickets even though it says everywhere you do. You do however go through numerous security checkpoints that have no direction on what they want you to do and they don’t tell you until they’re yelling at you as you’re about to go through. Here’s what to do: Take everything off except basic clothes. Watches, belts, jewelry, hats, coat. Have your ticket ready to scan, there’s 3 separate places and checkpoints. It would be easy for everyone to start naked with a ticket taped to their foreheads and only get redressed once you’re taking in the view from the statue.

When buying your tickets through Statue Cruises, I recommend pre-ordering your tickets online. If you do this, you can skip the ticket line at Battery Park (and at the location in New Jersey, Im assuming) and pick them up quickly at the Will Call window if you so choose. Also, by ordering tickets online ahead of time, there is more of a guarantee of being able to buy tickets going up to the Statue of Libertys pedestal or crown because those sell out incredibly fast. I ordered our pedestal tickets 3 days before arriving and Im glad we did because they were sold out at the ticket line by the time we arrived. Tickets for the crown had already been sold out until November as well.Tickets bought for the Statue of Liberty include admission to Ellis Island, the Ellis Island Museum and the ferry ride to/from Ellis Island as well! An absolutely amazing experience. Went for the Statue of Liberty, stayed much longer because of Ellis Island. My biggest suggestion is to allocate at a very minimum 1 hour to spend on Liberty Island and 2 hours on Ellis Island. The experience was wonderful and I highly recommend it to anybody regardless of age or background.Full review:Took the subway from Brooklyn to Bowling Green station near Battery Park. As soon as I got out and on to the street level a guide was there to point us in the right direction. Having to cross the street, there was another guide right there as well guiding others too. I purchased my tickets online so went straight to the security line. Saw the line for ticket purchasing, and it didnt look like it would take too long had I needed to buy them there (If you want to go up to the pedestal or crown be sure to book your tickets at least a month in advance). I mightve gotten lucky the day I was there as the security line was very short and as soon as that was done I walked right on to the ferry.First stop was Statue of Liberty. The ferry takes you in front of the statue and slows down to offer a prime photo location. Once on the island, be sure to pick up your audio tour that is free. I had pedestal tickets and went right to the entrance for that. Through another quick security check, I was inside the pedestal. Be sure to visit the museum inside before going up. To ascend, you can either take the stairs or wait for the elevator. Once outside on the pedestal, beautiful 360-degree views are available. Can get chilly up there, so be sure to bring a jacket. Spent a bit of time up there and on the way down were able to stop at an area that was much less crowded than the main island, which allowed us to take pictures again in every direction. Walked around the island a bit and then boarded on the ferry to Ellis Island.Second stop was Ellis Island. This is definitely the most underrated part of the whole tour. The setup of the island is wonderful. They have it broken into three parts: Early migration (prior to Ellis Island), the Ellis Island era, and immigration post Ellis Island. Again, be sure to pick-up the audio tour that is free and take your time especially in the upstairs section. It is unbelievable to think about what was going on in these people’s minds while they were here and trying to make it. Very emotional to put yourself in their shoes. Couldve easily spent half the day in this section. We had other plans to get to in the evening, so we didnt get to spend anywhere close to the amount of time we wouldve like to here. Couldnt have asked for a better experience.

The boat ride itself is great, theres restroom, cafe, and face views of the statue as you come alongside the island.
