It was a peaceful ride throughout the lake though it was my first time rowing a boat it was a fun experience. It’s very affordable $20 for an hour for up to 4 people but must put a $20 deposit in case you go over. 13 and under must wear a life jacket and everyone should stay in the middle of the boat to keep it centered.
My wife and I went to dinner at the Loeb on a Thursday night and had an amazing experience! The staff was top notch, food was delicious, old fashioned Manhattan was a nice “dessert “ and the evening atmosphere was terrific! After dinner we took a stroll around the Bethesda fountain and thru the Mall walkway! Check it out!
Must have when visiting Central Park or NYC as a whole. Weve done this a handful of times now and the experience never gets old. The lake and its views are beautiful. Attendants are friendly and helpful. Its CASH ONLY!
A nice wedding venue located in Central Park. We attended the wedding as guests but thought the food (appetizers, entrees, desserts) were all excellent. Its a perfect venue for small-ish weddings (less than 100) but otherwise might be too cramped.
LoebOne of my bucket list Restaurants is the boathouse in Central Park, it’s an understated icon of New York City. Thanks to a friend who chose to celebrate his anniversary here, I finally got the excuse to go. I loved the ambiance of this place and our dining table was set overlooking the man-made lake with many people enjoying boating. We went with a 3-course dinner menu. I started with jumbo lump crab cake with cucumber salad and red bell pepper remoulade and I found it delicious an a decent portion for an appetizer. I then selected a grilled petite filet for my main with fingerlings potato crisps, creamed corn, and green peppercorn sauce. We then concluded the dessert with NYC cheesecake.Overall, the dishes were delicious and served in a timely fashion considering that we were in a big group. This place is equally good for an anniversary or romantic date night.
Nice spot for a break in the city, relaxing by the lake, watching the boats, and with surprisingly decent prices.
Pretty good and nice restaurant. Was able to get in within 25 mins during busy time in the line
I came on a Thursday around noon and there was no line. Plenty of available boats. They claim to have 100. First come first serve bases.Affordable price. $15 for an hour with a $20 deposit. CASH ONLY.Boat fits upto 4 people. There are life vests available for children. Nice relaxing ride with beautiful scenery.
Affordable and fun, would definitely go again!
Fun experience with your friends in the summer super cheap
Bring cash!!If you return the boat just a bit later than the hour you enter the place, they keep the 20$ deposit.
Really nice place
NYC Must-do 🚣♂️🚣♀️
A few things to know about taking a rowboat out from The Loeb Boathouse ...1. for the rower, sit with the front (pointy end) of the boat behind you. Thats the end that will move easily through the water. Others in the boat will be happy to provide you direction if you cant see easily and are off course.2. look for the turtles ... you will find them sunning all over the place.3. dont stand up in the boat. hopefully this one is obvious.4. make sure someone has a watch or phone to keep an eye on the time to return the boat.5. dont forget to stop and get your cash deposit returned to you on your way out. its easy to forget.6. have fun ... its a great little getaway from the city right in the middle of it. for us, it has become a must-do on every trip to NYC.
Wow was this activity fun! Reasonable price of 15$ per hour and what a blast we had. We had fun taking pictures with classic backgrounds of iconic fountain buildings and great nature views. Other boat rowers were not experienced and we got into some close calls of hitting other boats. It was all fun! We also had fun counting all the turtles sunning themselves on the rocks.
GREAT PLACE !
Nice relaxing place. The line seems long but there’s always boats available. Bring umbrella if you can do it won’t be too sunny. Had a great time with my bf here. The seats in the boat can get really hot in summer but I had a piece of paper to sit on so it won’t burn my skin off
Great experience
Such a fun experience to rent a boat and tow. Good price in my opinion. They only take cash so be prepared.
Reasonably priced, super fun, nice exercise. However we ran out of lake to row in very quickly. A fun day!
Easy to deal with staff. Very helpful guys that help you get in and launched. The rowing takes a bit to get used to if youve never rowed a boat. You can go under the Bow Bridge. That was fun. Very romantic.
Boating is a great NYC experience and I strongly recommend it to everyone, regardless their age. However, the way we were treated after boating is unacceptable. The policy of the place is for the boat passengers to pay $15 for the first hour and $20 deposit. If someone stays longer boating in the lake, they charge $3 every 15. We stayed 1h and 30 more in the lake. As a result our extra hours equal to $18. It would be expected for us to take back $2 from the deposit. Instead of that, they made us pay $5 more. When we tried to explain the error to the manager and to ask for our money back, he was extremely rude and aggressive. He didnt even want to listen to us and he claimed we should have paid even more!! Highly unacceptable behavior! Moreover, he told the cashiers to warn us that if we didnt leave, he would call the police! Taking into consideration that the region is a great tourist attraction, its good for everyone to keep an eye on their bill!!! Nobody deserves to be tricked like that for the sake of a companys profit! Thats the reason we give the 2 stars.
One of my all time favorite spots in grand Manhattan! This lake is not small and the rental is very affordable. Amazing scenery from literally every location and just a beautiful and wonderful experience!
The fastest service ever I came in my friends weren’t through the gate yet and I rented out the boats and by the time they were at the booth I already had a very friendly staff tell me the rules and what not to do
A must do if you are visiting Central Park, for $15 dollars plus a deposit of $20 you can take a rowing boat with up to 4 people of the lake for an hour. It is $3 per extra 15mins beyond the first hour. You will get the best views of the famous bridge featured in so many movies and beautiful shots of the city behind walls of trees. It is an absolute must do in the park.
The line here can be long but if you get there at a good time it isnt too bad, and its really nice once youre out on the water. This place only takes cash so be sure to hit the ATM at the restaurant before you get in line. Also, make sure that at least one of the people you go with actually knows how to row a boat.
Crowded yet Fun: in spite of the crowds, this was a very fun time in central park. The line moved faster than i had expected, the staff was quick and nice, the lake was full of boats but it was fun to paddle around and easy to find a quiet spot. The views from the lake were lovely and it was relaxing to be on a boat in the middle of all the energy of the park. Cash only so be prepared.
Well worth the price of $15 dollars an hour. The boat fits up to 4 people. Dont forget that they only accept cash and a $20 cash deposit is required. Keep your receipt to get the deposit back.I had been wanting to do the row boats for a long time and it definitely was as fun as I hoped it would be!
Awesome amazing beautiful very inexpensive boat rental I love New York City cant wait to go back
SO MUCH FUN. My favorite thing to do in NYC .The best time to go isin the summer and the fall. Its so cool seeing the trees and wildlife but still being in the city. Even if you have zero experience canoeing, its even fun to sit there and look at everything.
Great views to the city from the lake. When purchasing the tickets make sure to check the time. On the ticket the time was 10 mins before we started. Otherwise no complaints.
Amazing place, you can enjoy with your family, couple or friends. On summer is beautiful.
I Love This Place!!! You can rent a boat and go explore around the lake. Staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend, the price is good too.
Great place to go, Bring slippery gloves so you dont bruise your hands. You can ride it for hours with proper gloves on your hands.
Good family fun and a good deal. Enjoyed rowing around for a full hr - views were nice too
A definite must-do in New York City. Relaxing and good exercise (if youre the one rowing the boat).Lots of nature photographic opportunities, especially of the turtles that call the pond home.Downside: Cash only. (Get with the times.)
I really recommend renting a boat, it’s really romantic.
Wonderful time rowing. Cheap and fun for our double date, will definitely go again.
Hired a boat for a couple of hours, enjoyed the peaceful rowing. Pack sunscreen in summer!
We had awesome time. Great time with my friends. Staff were professional. Tourist please dont forget to gratitude. Hey. Its New York.
Very romantic and good service by the workers. It was a lot of fun.
Helpful staff, cheap ( very! ) and nice view! Everyone should try.
I escorted some clients here and everyone had a great time. Afterwards, theres a nice bar/restaurant right there for your post rowing pleasure.
Great food, great scenery
Fast and smooth renting process, extremely helpful staff. You can comfortably row from the renting spot to the northernmost part of the lake and back in one hour while taking breathtaking pictures of the signature buildings sorrounding the park.
Overpriced, line too long
What a fantastic way to leave the city without leaving it
Great price for a historic boat 🚣trip
Amazing experience. A must do !👍
Great views from the boat, you may need to stand in the line for half an hour.
Me and my wife used to go there in the summer.Loved to spend time on the lake...in the boat.
Great views, helpful staff, a good deal at $15 an hour!
Best place to eat in central park . if you ask me lol
Easy to rent and fun to row out in the lake.
I spent $15 for 1 hour and some minutes in the boat! It was really nice
I am a regular customer here. Great food, service, everything
Lovely spot in Central Park, to have an afternoon tea after the walk in the park
Such a cool place to visit and hire a boat! Great fun in Central Park!
Good way to kill an hour in central park
Rent a boat and enjoy central park from a different angle, do it!
Rented a boat here. It was fun and pleasant experience
20 dollars deposit, fast payment and deposit return, nice boats
The dude at the front was super rude and refused to take coins, even though the signs say they accept CASH ONLY. It didnt say anywhere that coins werent accepted. On top of that, we had already waited for a long time in line. Too bad I wasnt able to experience the boat rental.
Good spot to go to for the summer its peaceful
Great place to enjoy the views
Nice boating experience!
Staff at reception is unfriendly and unflexible. Can’t recommend a visit after my experience.
Should have atms close.by sucks we missed our trip bayhrooms are nasty
Had a ton of fun with some friends.
Really worth spending a couple of hours to see the Belvedere castle and 🐢 🐢 in the lake.
You may have to wait a bit to get on a boat, but the view is beautiful from every possible angle.
Joyous boating in Central Park.
Do u need to show id to rent a bout?????? Someone please let me know
Nice place and service
Had been there with my friends intending to ride rental boats just to find that they are closed. But, their website said that it is open for the day and we can rent boats. They should be charged for wrong information put on the website. It cost us time and money to go there just to ride the boats only to find that they put wrong info on the website about being open or not.
Amazing place in central park
Called ahead to inquire at what time they have the last boat and said at 6:45pm got there at 6:00pm and said they were closed. Because of the weather when the forecast was not until 9:00 pm. Thanks for ruining my engagement. Will not be my wedding venue anymore.
Loved it as much as I love New York
