Phenomenal experience with Steven and Francines. My car broke down a few weeks back and would not start. I called in and they sent a tow truck out to pick up the car immediately. Once they were able to find out what the problem was they explained it was just a simple connection issue to the battery and they had it taken care of in no time at all. While I was there I asked if they could do an alignment on the car since I previously had some suspension work done and the car didnt feel 100% properly aligned. They said absolutely and corrected the alignment and mentioned they would balance and rotate the wheels and tires as well. These guys are great at what they do, everyone was very friendly and informative. They gave me fair prices on everything and even gave comparisons to others as well. They were able to get me back on the road with no issues at all and I thank everyone there for their time and services.

They purposefully damaged my car to fail me in a NYS inspection. Avoid this business!A few years ago, S&F did n inspection after I moved to NYC. I had just gotten the car inspected in another state and it had no problems. The S&F mechanic told me that my spark plug wires were bad. I took the car to another mechanic for a second opinion, and he showed me that my spark plug wires had scissor marks all over the insulation. This was why my car was not functioning as well after visiting S&F.

Had an emergency situation and relied on a CONFIRMED appointment with this company to have my car collected and towed. This clown not only didn’t even show up but also didn’t have the decency to contact anyone on my end to let us know they would not be able to do what was promised. Just downright awful, disrespectful treatment and would never recommend anyone use such an unprofessional, unreliable “automotive repair” shop. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere as this wasn’t the 1st issue we’ve had with this place, this was just the straw that broke the camels back. Be warned and avoid Steven and Francines Complete Automotive Repair Inc.

I had such a wonderful experience here. Firstly, Willy was so great, professional, and super informative! He explained everything that my car needed thoroughly and I felt like he was going to really take care of my car. Ive had some very bad experiences in the past with other repair shops but this place and their team, including Fabio, were outstanding! Due to Steven Francines Auto Shops outstanding customer service, they have a loyal customer for life. After my car was serviced, I felt like I had a brand new car.

I highly recommend coming to this establishment. Adele was the KINDEST and most helpful person. She made every moment of our experience a positive one. The process was fast and seamless. If you are lucky enough to get Adele to assist you, you will not regret it. This place is so efficient and professional! We had a Saturday walk in for both inspection and tire check/leak repair. It’s done in an hour! Fast photo inspection, guy who did it was very helpful. They could use a different place to have this done though. There was lots of traffic and cars at a high speed and was worried for the safety of the inspector.

Wrong operating hours or location closed permentaly. Its 2:22 PM and I was here to get my car inspected but Im this location is closed.

Please run away from this place. I took my car here for a wheel alignment and to be check for some noise when driving on highway. First thing I noticed, that was upsetting, once I arrived is how the owner was condescending to one of employees twice in front of me. That made me feel very uncomfortable. Second, he charged $160 for a wheel alignment. So if you guys have a tight budget this is not the right place. The wheel alignment was not even done properly. I did not receive a wheel alignment report, which shows the degrees of how it was and how it got properly aligned. The car kept tilting on one side when driven after the alignment. Third and most important problem. They told me my suspensions of my car needed to get replaced and that they were “completely gone”. They wanted to charge me “32 hundred and some change”. So about 3300. I told the owner I could not afford that. He told me the best he can do is not put original parts and take 500 off. On the side note Don’t you guys ever wonder how do we really know they putting in original parts? And they not pocketing the extras? I knew he was trying to overprice my bill because he seen I was a female and he figured i didn’t know anything about cars. But I did not say anything, I even paid for the wheel alignment and said nothing that they were over charging me on that too. I was extremely polite despite the attempt to scam lol. I figured let me get a better price and write a nice review about them, so people can understand that it ain’t nice or right to take advantage or try to fool women. Guess what guys took my car to another place in Queens. Mechanic told that my back shocks needed to get changed. The front were still ok. I told him to change all four. I was with the mechanic the whole time while he was changing the suspensions. So I can make sure all four suspensions actually changed. He charged me $700. Avoid place...Simply said...

The great people at Steven and Francines have been keeping my car in fantastic shape for the last 10 years. I only wish I had known about them sooner. I have a solid mid 1990s vehicle that I decided to stick with for the long haul and they have maintained the car superbly! And theyve made me feel proud to drive it. Even though theyre located in a busy area of midtown Manhattan, it is always a pleasure to go there as it is an oasis of small-town courtesy and friendliness. But at the same time their high level of professionalism and craftsmanship is worthy of the greatest city on the planet. When I look around the shop and see the amazing classic cars they are working on, Im incredibly impressed that they give my more humble car the same attention and care. Its hard not to become a super-loyal customer and friend of this unique and special place.

Ive been meaning to write this review for a long time. Emerson takes such great care of my car, and he is friendly and knowledgeable. Its easy to get your car serviced there too, the guys are honest and straight forward about the work that needs to be done and they always get it done right. I have a Saab and Ive taken it there for maintenance check ups, brakes, tires and headlight replacements. The work is always done on time, and with good quality.

I went for getting NY state inspection for my car; they told me to leave it with them for an hour & when I went back they had jacked up the car & listed out a bunch of issues, control arm broken, rear tyres worn out as reasons for failing the safety test accompanied by an extensive quote. I went to another NY state inspection approved garage who did the same inspection, confirmed there was absolutely no problem with the car- just routine wear & tear which absolutely doesnt affect the safety..ironically, Steve & Francines hadnt bothered to perform the actual test of emissions, which the other garage duly performed & cleared my vehicle. I will never again go anywhere near this garage, they are obviously setup to initially fail cars which come in for NY state inspection & then, pass them after the owners spent a considerable sum with them. I have no idea whos posting the complementary google reviews about this place; probably their own people, because I cannot believe a genuine car owner would have had a great first experience UNLESS, of course they are long time customers.

Avoid this place! The owner of this company is a crook and a liar. I took my car to get a NYS Inspection and they told me my car would not pass inspection because I needed to pay $1,200.00 in repairs. I did maintenance on my car about a month ago. There is no possible way my car would not pass inspection when I received a report and did maintenance on my car a month ago! The owner literally told me if you decide not to do service here, the car will not make it to the next inspection site. Thankfully, my boyfriend picked up the car and took it somewhere else. I passed the inspection with flying colors with ANOTHER full report to prove. My boyfriend ask for a report on my car and after having it all morning, there was no report done. They are liars and I hope no one else falls victim to this place again.

I had a positive experience with Steven and Francines. I found them to be courteous, thoughtful and responsive. I know next to nothing about vehicles, but they were very helpful. The prices were fair, and I had a nice experience. I dropped off my new used car for inspection. A few hours later they called to tell me that it needed a few things that they explained and when necessary they were able to show me what was needed. The work was done quickly. Sure, I spent more than I wanted but the piece of mind was worth it.

I came to Steven and Francines about a year ago when I switched over my insurance to Geico and had to get a photo inspection. The woman in the front office, Isabel, was lovely and talked me through everything! Ive been coming back every since.When I had a dead battery about a month ago, I called up hoping they would be able to get me in last minute, it was a Saturday night! Steven was on the phone right away getting a battery for my car and I was able to get in and out, they even stayed later to help!If you think that you should find someone else youre surely mistaken. The best customer service Ive ever experience and Ive worked in Retail for many years. I cant thank them enough, theyre such genuine people and know what theyre doing. Ive known Mark at Steven Francine Complete Auto Repair for several years. Every time I bring the car in for anything, he has been great. He has always tried to find the repair option that worked within my budget. And if he couldnt then he still tried to fix it anyway. Mark has never let me down. The work has always been good, and the car has always come back to me in great shape. I cannot say enough about what a pleasure it is to deal with Mark and his team.

I would not recommend S&Fs if youre not mechanically inclined. Im sure they do great work, but they are not honest about the work needed.I went in for an inspection, and ended up with an estimate for $4k worth of work on a $3k car. Suspicious about the price and all the work, I asked for a detailed estimate and sent that to a few mechanic-friends across the country. All of my friends came back saying the same thing — these guys have to be crooks. Every single mechanic said the pricing was well beyond anything reasonable (even for Manhattan), some of the work needed didnt make sense (for my cars age/mileage) and some of the supplies needed were questionable.So, I declined getting the work done and was given a lot of attitude for not giving them the job after all the time they spent diagnosing my car…even got body checked when passing to leave. On a positive note, I did not get charged for the failed inspection nor any time spent on my car as I was expecting.The next day, I took the car to my friends trusted mechanic, he passed my cars inspection for $37, and he recommended I come back for back break pads in about 2k miles—for less than half the price as quoted by S&F to replace my none-existent back break pads.Bottom line: If youre looking for a trusted mechanic, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

I had never owned a car before and reached out to someone in the industry - I told them I need someone trustworthy - they directed me to Steven and Francines. Not only did I find a place that was trustworthy, but I found a group of people who are nice and treat their clients with respect. I dont usually write reviews, but having found the Holy Grail--an honest mechanic in Manhattan--I feel its my civic duty to share it. After years of being ripped off by our local Toyota dealer for routine maintenance, my husband and I were understandably paranoid about any suggested repairs, so when Mark (an incredibly nice guy, by the way) suggested that our brake pads and two rear tires needed to be replaced, we blew him off. Big mistake. While stuck in the middle of Vermont waiting for a replacement tire after getting a flat (yes, one of the tires he told us to replace), the mechanic there said, I would never have let you leave the shop with brake pads worn that thin. To be fair to Mark, wed been driving for several more months after he suggested replacing them. So our first stop back in Manhattan was getting the brake pads replaced. Fast forward to last month when we got in an accident. Mark dealt with the insurance company, going back and forth with them for weeks to get the best price. The car came back looking pristine. He never once lost patience with them or with us. We cant recommend him highly enough (and Isabella, behind the desk, is a sweetheart, too.)

Finding reputable, honest auto services in Manhattan is tricky. Steven and Francines shop is both. Extremely professional and courteous. My wife called around NY for an inspection and by far the best pricing and service was here. She was in and out quickly with no surprises. Highly recommend them.

Ive used this shop twice, and both times it was excellent!! The first time I had some serious issues with the bearings and discs on my Volvo. Steven quickly diagnosed the problem, and got the parts and got me my car back quickly. He took me on a test drive, as well this shop does many test drives to make sure the problem is truly fixed when driven (Id never seen that done before, but I liked it, and its not easy to do test drives around midtown, but these guys are super patient and dedicated). The pricing on parts and service was beyond fair, and I did not feel taken advantage of or overcharged at all (as I have at other shops). Things were explained thoroughly and they actually showed me how my parts had gone bad. The second time I went was for an oil change. Mark took care of me very quickly even though they were busy. Everyone at this shop are super friendly and professional. I wont take my car anywhere else in the city!!

Complete rip off. Tried to charge me $1550 for brake pads that were confirmed to be totally fine by another garage 15 minutes after I left the premises. Also tried to change a serpentine belt that was changed by bmw dealer just months prior. These guys are pure thieves. Am filing a complaint with bureau of consumer protection. Do not waste your time. Do not waste your money. Stay away from these crooks!

These guys are the best. Whenever I have an accident (which is often) they are always available to pick up the phone, tow me, contact insurance company and get my car done as fast as possible. Their quality of work is impeccable. I send all of my friends to them...I would not trust anyone else!

I went there for an inspection sticker for my car that is basically in new condition. I left the car with him and went to work. The proprietor calls me back 2 hours later and says he cannot pass me unless I get $1800 worth of work done. He wanted to put on new tires, new brakes, fix the alignment, fix some phantom emission problems. I tell him theres no way theres anything wrong with my car. He said he was going to fail my inspection. I said fine - fail me. I take my car to another inspection shop and the guy passes me no problems at all. Clearly Steven and Francines was trying to make some money. Very crooked.

Just as I have already mentioned in my reviews before, the guys at Steven and Francines Complete Automotive Repair Inc are the best --both efficient and trustworthy. Personally, taking your car into an autoshop is just as scary as going to the doctors; obviously since you never know what problems they will tell you, which usually means hundreds of dollars gone to fix it.

Ive been going to Steven & Francines for decades. And yes, they are pricey. And yes, they are worth every penny of it. I drive a 12 year old Corolla, a city car that has to weather the potholes and gridlock and bad drivers that afflict every NYC vehicle. So it spends more than its share of time in the shop.. And yes, sometimes it requires an expensive repair But I have never felt ripped off. In fact, sometimes I feel like Im ripping THEM off! Let me give you the latest example. I brought the car in Monday, smelling of gas. The problem turned out to be a loose gas cap. They know I know absolutely nothing about cars -- and they could have told me anything. They spent hours going over that car, yet they sent me home with a wave and a merry Xmas. Doesnt get better than that.

I have a special sports car and I took it there for inspection and the customer service was great, they handled the car well, they protected the seats to keep it clean while they inspected and called me as soon as they had completed their work to let me know I could pick it up. I have been taking my 1999 Subaru Forester to Steven & Francines for ten years. In that time, they have done body work, regular maintenance and emergency service. They are excellent diagnosticians and I have been completely satisfied with the all work they have done. They are courteous and take the time to explain the details of work they recommend, including what is urgent and what can wait. I have never had a bad experience and recommend them highly.

I have used Steven and Francines since 2005 and wouldnt trust my car to anyone else. Mark knows my car inside and out and can recite work he has done on my car from years ago. I have read some of the negative reviews and cant make sense of them. My experience with Mark has been consistently great for the last 9 years. He is respectful, prompt and honest. And the one time a couple of years ago, I took my car to BMW in the city for a driver bag recall, they told me I needed over 1k of work which was complete BS since Mark just looked at the car. As long as I have a car in the city, I will use Steven and Francines.

Do NOT go to Steven & Francines Complete Automotive Repair. Its an epic disaster. They took forever, then gave me supreme attitude when I asked when my car was going to be looked at. If this were the last mechanic on earth, Id rather push my car off a cliff and walk instead of giving these guys a penny. Seriously. There are so many other options, dont go here. If you need a NY state inspection, find somewhere else. You are begging for a migraine if you go here.

I have taken two different vehicles to Steven and Francines for NYS inspection within the past 14 months. Both vehicles were approximately two years old with 20,000 and 30,000 miles, respectively. In both instances, the shop wouldnt complete my inspection without insisting on $2,000 worth of repairs - some combination of tires, brakes, and an air filter. I pushed back on the necessity of some of these repairs since I only planned to drive the cars for a couple months - maybe 4,000 or 5,000 miles. The shops point of view was that driving without the proposed maintenance wouldnt be safe. Theres no doubt that a fresh set of Pirelli tires and new brakes might be better than what youd expect on a two year old car. I get that. Whether or not that type of investment is necessary for weekend driving on the Long Island Expressway is debatable. Ultimately I acquiesced and authorized the repairs. That decision was probably the result of convenience (i.e. my car was already at this shop) and conservatism (i.e. a reaction to the mechanics doomsday scenario about tires blowing out on the highway). The experiences left me feeling that I was taken advantage of. The punchline is that people who are considering bringing their vehicles here for a routine NYS inspection should beware that there is a good chance the shop will take a conservative view on what is required to pass.

I dropped my car off for a quick inspection- I wasnt near my regular mechanic. I was told by Mark that the car wouldnt pass inspection without work being done. The work must be done. I was given a price quote of $1700, told that most of the work was needed to pass inspection, all of it recommended.I said, thanks, but Ill just take the car. I took the car to my regular mechanic who was clear that (1) the car could pass inspection as is, (2) it could use some of the work, but it wasnt urgent, (3) Some of the suggested work wasnt even needed.They get two stars instead of one because they were really friendly and polite. Maybe they do great work- there are plenty of reviews from folks who had a great experience. Was something wrong? Yes. But in reading other reviews, I also see that Im not alone in this experience of being incorrectly told that the car would NOT pass inspection.I get it if they would do an inspection and suggest other things- lots of mechanics try to up-sell you. No problem with that. But its really wrong to tell a customer you are doing me a favor to expedite the job, and say the work is URGENT for safety, as well as to pass NYS Inspection- Not right. Sorry.Specifics- I was told the axle was cracked open and leaking grease on the brakes and that I needed a full brake job- pads and rotors, several other suggested items. I took it to my mechanic who clarified that the axle did need work- the boot was off, and, yes, I should replace it. But it was NOT leaking grease on the brakes, it was not needed to pass inspection, and was not an immediate danger. The brakes- this one I knew and my mechanic confirmed. I had a full break job in the past two years- my breaks are fine, I dont need pads and rotors.

Needing work done on your car in NYC seems like a terrifying predicament, but the team here are really terrific, and they made it easy and stress-free, even for a car luddite like me. Theyre fast, they do great work, theyre honest, and theyre just plain nice. I never felt out of the loop or like anything beyond what was necessary was being done. It was such a breath of fresh air. Cant recommend them highly enough.

I ordered push bars, KC running lights, rear light guards and a hitch step for my truck from a website and had them shipped to S&F (after speaking with Mark and letting him know these items would be shipped there). He installed them beautifully and had me out of there in 24 hours for a very reasonable price. Everyone should go here if theyre in the Manhattan area. Thats all I have to say!

Not recommended. I went there for a NYC inspection. They recommended a new battery when I had mine changed just the week before. The battery was fine; they were just looking for a quick extra profit.

Liars and scam artistsTook my car here to get the NY state inspection. Failed me for brakes. Interesting because a couple thousand miles ago I was told by the dealership that I had 70% life left. They also tried to pressure me into getting my oil pan replaced. new battery, and tire rotation/alignment. Total cost over $1400. Took it to another shop for my inspection and passed no questions asked. Went a couple weeks later to a mechanic in another state that I have been taking my cars to for years and he said I still have better than 50% brake life left and there were no problems with the oil pan. My advice would be to take your car anywhere else because these people are liars and scammers.

Very bad business they towed my wife car 4 blocks and charged her 163 thats not even half of a mile, this repair shop is a complete rip off on top of that they tried to charge her $1000 to replace a alternator. I called another tow truck and they towed her and replaced the alternator for $600 this repair shop shouldnt even be open ripping off the public with these rediculous prices.

On Monday, April 8th, I woke up to realize that my vehicle inspection sticker had expired 5 days ago. I called my dealer, and wasnt able to schedule an appointment for 2 weeks. I googled a place that was close and Steven & Francines popped up. I read some of the reviews, and was satisfied. I decided to give them a try. I called first thing Monday morning, and was told by Mark that I could bring my car right down today. I dropped off the car on my way to work and called later in the day to find out what needed to be taken care of ( as there is always something to take care of at the dealer). I was told my car would be ready this evening and the inspection would be discussed upon pick up.After a long day, I went to the auto shop to see the damages.. I was greeted by a friendly staff- who were kind enough to wait for my late schedule. Mark was working with me, so he reviewed my bill. To my surprise, again.. the cost was the price of the inspection. NO WORK WAS NEEDED!!! I cant begin to express my feelings of trust and satisfaction.I will be returning to Steven & Francines for any maintainance work. I completely trust them.

Talk with Mark. Ive been a loyal customer for ten years with both new and out of warranty cars. Hes picked me up stranded, let me borrow his Bronco to go to a business meeting and often turns me away when there are no serious issues without a charge. Today I scraped the undercarriage of my new audi and he dropped everything just to put it on the lift and again turned me away refusing payment I offered for the trouble. These guys have been nothing but consistent over the years.

Theres only one Steven and Francine, and they are on West 36 Street. They are the greatest. Dont confuse them with anyone else. They are quick, efficient, honest, friendly, and fairly priced. I trust them implicitly. They are my go-to place for my annual service. Id had them retrofit the radio on my 2003 Civic to accommodate an Ipod etc. After they did it, something went odd with the alarm system; it didnt interfere with my driving the car, but it needed attention. And when I brought the car in, they attended to it immediately: we sat down together, went through the symptom, tried this and that, and finally David figured out that something hadnt been put back quite right after the original work, and he fixed it there and then, and then installed the window mount for the Ipod. When I went to pay, Mark told me the whole thing was OTH, on the house, which of course was right. Except he threw in the window mount. And I thought that was big of him. A final tip of the hat to Isabel, who is patient, accurate, and charming. This is the place to go.

Had to come here for Geico pictures and my nys inspection. Dishonest staff used very high pressure aggressive sales tactics trying to convince us tires on our brand new range rover were incredibly dangerous and insisted we replace them on the spot for a few thousand. immediately took the car to the dealer and another service depot who said the tires were absolutes fine and safe to drive and these guys were a bunch of crooked bozos.Its people like this who give the industry a bad name! Such a horrible experience - wouldnt trust these folks at all!

Its almost 10 years that I took my Volvo to Steve and Francines when the dealer refused to provide an inspection for two weeks, although told that the sticker had already expired, and my car, parked on the street, was sure to collect tickets. They have been my repair/maintenance shop ever since. They do meticulous work, are willing to accommodate emergency requests, always go over all they find that needs attention, and explain the estimate in detail. Never any surprises. Mark doesnt rest until he finds the source of a problem, and he ususally does the first time. Service in Manhattan is expensive everywhere: with them, I know that the work will be done competently, that parts that need replacement are replaced, that they deal with the insurance company patiently and professionally, and, most inportant, that my trust is well placed. And my 2002 Volvo XC70 runs like new!

I am not one who typically writes reviews of ANYTHING. However, I must say that Mark Levine of Steven & Francines autobody is a mentch. He is a perfectionist and a true artist - working in an autobody shop. He cares about you and your product - and he repairs cars like they are his won. His attention to detail is outstanding.I would not take a car to any place else - as Mark and his team of professionals can handle any size issue. I know that when I get my car back from them - they have looked at and fixed every concern - even those I may not have known existed -- perfectionists and nice guys too!

I came in here after going to Martys in Chelsea. Martys failed my car for brakes and rotors and tried to over charge me on the spot for the repairs.I went to Steve and Francines and they told me Martys didnt abide by the processes of DMV and inspect the vehicle properly. My vehicles brakes and rotors wee passable and they looked at my car with no charge. They saved me close to $1000. Thank you, Mark!

Went in for NYS inspection for my BMW (because I wasnt particularly happy with Manhattan BMW service dept) - thats like $37. To pass inspection, they tolld me I had to change 2 tires because the were unsafe, tires there cost almost $400, which is $80 more than the same tires at the dealer. He told me hed move the front to the back without telling me itd be a $70 charge to do that. Seriously? The tires/balancing per tire is $20 more than at the dealer. The other odd thing is that I notice a large crack on the windscreen by the dash that wasnt there before I dropped it off (they had some papers stuck in the same spot perhaps to hide it?), and although I cant prove it was them, its either an unhappy coincidence or they screwed me over. It was supposed to be $37 and ended up $1100.Cant be happy about any of the crap like that, AND they dont wash your car like at the dealer. What do you expect from an autoshop? Not much. And they did nothing to make me think anything other than, they SUCK!

I own one of those called luxury cars, so since i move to NYC i was paynig literally an arm & leg on repair at the dealer, one of my friends recommended me Steven & Francines on the west side and I gave them a shot, to my surprise they were very helpful and knowleagable, they did the repairs at very reasonable price and check my entire vehicle and even repaired scratches & dents repair. I am so have I found them and very pleased with the service & very friendly manner which is a plus, I m certanly coming back.

Very bad attitude. The manager thinks his on top of the world. Won’t even give u time or look at u. U don’t deserve my money.

Kept my car for a month and didn’t even call the insurance company for approval of the work needed. I had to take my car somewhere else. Then they had the nerve to give us problems releasing the car.

Went in to get struts repaired and asked that he check out my abs light on dashboard. He claims he installed new software on my car and charged me $375 to turn a light off. This took 2 days by the way.
