I cannot say how much we appreciate the team at the sod farm on Ridge Road! They gave us a great deal on sod for our church, First Baptist Church of Hudson. I called them for three pallets of sod it with an hour to the side showed up at church. Everyone here is so polite oh, its nice to do business with Christians. Thank you very much from our entire church! I have used them at my home,My church. I will not use anyone else to very good experiences

Couldn’t be happier with the sod farm. Called them on a Saturday morning and they had a pallet of St. Augustine here in two hours. It was freshly cut yesterday and it looks great. Much better than the sod I saw at the big box stores and about $100 cheaper.

I give sod farms a negative one for not only having the worst customer service but not being able to open their eyes and look at the different grass that they’re sending people and then charging them for more expensive grass when I laid 80% of my yard and premium Bluegrass and I spent almost $900 on 2 1/2 pallets of sod I expected it to be premium blue then when I called back and asked for the other half pallet that I needed to finish he sent me Saint Augustine floratam which is cheap and clearly not the premium blue that I was charged for and ordered. On both invoices I was charged $280 a pallet for the 2 1/2 pallets that I got and for the half pallet that they made the mistake to send me the Saint Augustine. When I called Frank right after the install and I noticed the difference he asked me to send him emails with pictures I sent him about 20 emails with hundreds of different pictures and vantage point to show clearly the grass is not the same I’ve had Trugreen and both my lawn services that I’ve had for years come out and concur that the grass It’s not premium blue but he’s definitely Saint Augustine FloraTam. It has been 3 1/2 months I haven’t cut the premium blue grass one time it has not grown what does Saint Augustine grass I have cut about seven times and he’s growing out of control obviously if you worked at a Sodfarm and you worked there a long time and this is the longest tenured Sodfarm in Pasco County you’d be able to notice the difference between the two grasses are Frank is very resistant and very disrespectful when he speaks to you on the phone talking to you as if you are a child I even had Frank speak to the landscaping guy that did the service from the Trugreen and he even argued with the specialist that does analyze the different types of grass that he treats due to the fact that he hast to use different chemicals for different grasses which cost me more money on my service because he’s treating two different types of ones and Frank still told the guy that he thinks he might know what’s going on with my grass. Frank does not belong working with customers nor reading nor writing or typing nor doing anything that has to do with charging customers as he cannot see any more in his old age I think they need to hire new staff and if you’re planning on doing your lawn with sod I would use PNR sod or gladiator because for sod farm they not only Can’t run the all the sod farm in Pasco County any longer due to their inability to upgrade their computers to receive emails that have pictures and no longer can identify the types of grass they’re charging people for and sending out to their house and still riding up invoices that state that it’s premium blue when it’s clearly Saint Augustine

They place was horrible. The guy n women were very smug. Like they are better than anyone else. Plus the sod was junk. Full of fire ants n weeds. So many weeds I was wondering where the grass was. Truly a waste of money. Now I have to treat customers yard for weeds n fire ants. Plus was quoted a price over the phone and later that day the price went up $37 and was changed for the pallet the sod come on. when handling the sod it would just crumble in ur hands.I have so many ant bites on my arms and legs from there sod. I will never shop here again. Service n product was trash.

They will just write “fake review” or “lie” like they do on every other negative review. The sod delivered was horrible looking, I expressed my concerns and they blew me of. My water and lawn maintenance bills can reflect the effort put in to keeping the sod alive. Several months and many hours of work in the sun later, it still looks terrible but it’s alive, so that’s why they got two starts instead of one. The fact that their only response to negative reviews is to get defensive and call everyone a “fake review” should be a clue to how they run their business.

I went there for grass plugs. They have several types. Fair prices unlike the big box stores.

Customer Service was excellent, prices are fair! I went in and had no clue what I was doing and the lady at the front (Im sorry I dont know her name) was very patient with me and my sister. Owner saying my review is fake, all I have is new last name. They were here may 2021 in Odessa, FL delivering bahaia sod that looked awful..... Well the Bahaia Sod ended up growing overall with dead patches throughout but about 1/3 of our pallets delivered were unusable bc it was falling apart and looked like hay on the pallets and covered in roaches. (Also beware they cannot deliver to backyards). When we were concerned about the fact that our grass was hay, the person we spoke with/texted was super rude and unhelpful and advised us to water the sod for 24hr straight thats insane and of course we didnt do that......... Do not flood your yards people!!!!! (we didnt but goodness this is awful advice from professionals if someone accidentally believed them as experts 😭)

Spoke over the phone before visiting. The phone call was very professional. I was quoted a price for sod with delivery. Later in the day we visited the location. (I believe his name was Ed) that showed us around the pallets of sod. He was VERY friendly and knowledgeable. However this is where the good experience ended. Unfortunately the quote I given went up by atleast $100 in person. Plus I was told that I was never given a quote. I thought this was interesting. I notice a lot of reviews have a response that states that its a fake review. I can assure you this is not fake. I am not even from Florida. I am helping family with their lawn. After the poor customer service we decided to try another sod dealer roughly 15 minutes away called Gladiator Sod. The experience instantly changed our decision. They were very professional and went out of their way to help answer of our question. I rarely do a review but if customer service is important to you I wanted to make sure this is known. I would have given a 1 star if it wasnt for Ed who was very friendly and outgoing.

PREMIUM PRICES -- INFERIOR PRODUCT. I purchased a few pieces of floratam recently. When planting it, I noticed gaping sections where there was no dirt -- just roots (see pictures). Every piece was like that. I had to go to Home Depot & buy topsoil to add onto their sod so I wouldnt be planting the roots in air. More work & expense that shouldnt have been necessary. For this sod they charged $2.25 a piece. P&R and Gladiator both sell it for $1.50 a piece. I have since purchased P&Rs and it is of much better quality. I havent purchased Gladiators so I cant comment on the quality.Additionally, I might have figured out why some people are complaining they were short changed on a pallet. When I lined up two rows of Sod Farms sod with two rows of P&Rs, there was a 2-inch gap. It appears, in addition to cutting their sod thin, Sod Farm also cuts it about 1-inch narrower than industry standards.Take a look at the percentage of 1-star reviews for these guys in their Google reviews. Like I should have done. Almost 1/3 of the reviews are 1-star. That tells you something.

I ordered from these guys today as my usual go-to place told me the recent rains had resulted in poor quality. I called and was told the sod was fresh cut this morning and was willing to overlook the nearly 25% increase in price to fill an installation contract for a good customer of mine.When the product arrived, I had to refuse it. I was so disappointed. It was dry, had very little root structure if any in some places, and had the yellowing effect already that you might usually see when sod is cut and sits too long.The driver told me that if I did not accept the sod that I should pay the delivery fee anyways.I would consider trying them again as everyone has a bad day from time to time but as you will see in the pictures provided, this is going to be a tough first impression to overcome.

Ordered sod from them because the say that they have fresh sod cut the day before because they own their own farm. I received yellow dried out sod. Very disappointing10/09/2018 update. Sod has weeds sprouting in abundance. Still looking terrible in spite of having professionally sprayed for mold and abiding to the recommended watering schedule. Laid sod form Sod Depot on the next day and it is looking green, full and healthy. If you have a choice, stay away from The Sod Farm or you will regret it.

By far the worst sod I have ever bought! For starters it is $240 for a 400sqft pallet. All of the other places are $220 for 500sqft. I had a deadline so I got it anyway and what a bad choice that was. The St.Augustine had no soil bed and all of the grass was almost dead. The person at the desk stated the sod farm flooded and thats why the sod was that way. The sod was no stacked like all of the other places that I have purchase grass from before. St. Augustine is usually ( grass to grass and soil to soil) but this was stacked soil to grass. I believe this was the reason why the grass looked the way it did. I would never buy from this place again.

We ordered about 2 months ago. Called at 10 min to close on a Saturday, got the quote instantly and delivery of 1/2 a palate 40 min later. ALL of the St. Augustine Sod is 100% successful after daily watering (*5Xday 5 days, 3xday 2 weeks now 1xday) & weed free. Beautiful hearty grass that is thriving. Delivery was amazing, simple easy and a pure joy as we were graced by Yeti the Sod Dog commanding in the passenger seat. Highly reccomend for Product Quality and Customer Service. They make it easy to get great sod.

Worst sod I have ever seen. Ive been an Irrigation Contractor for over 37 years and have never seen sod this bad. How could anyone send a product like that out the door. Would never recommend!!!

Was quoted 98 dollars for a 400 sq foot pallet by phone. Arrived and was charged 127 dollars, was told 98 is cash price. Credit cards only charge 3 percent and taxes is only 7 percent so what the heck? Also I was buying cheap sod but not dead sod, this pallet was all browned out, the sod may or may not survive we will see. Pictures of some of the sod still on the pallet will follow tomorrow. Moral of the story is to drive farther next time and get better sod.

Nice guy but product not so great. I ordered 8 pallets and maybe 1 1/2 were good sod. 2 whole pallets were nothing but scraps and ants. Avoid this location!

Went around town to get a couple pallets of sod, went to like 4 different places. Ended up going with these guys because the sod just completely stood out! It just looked so much healthier compared to the other companies. Their staff was helpful and courteous. The sod farm sells pre cut sod, sun or shade variety. You will need the dimensions of the area you want to cover. The associate there was helpful in determining how many pieces you will need. Be forewarned, you will be lifting and carrying muddy sod to your car. They do provide plastic to protect your car, but you will get dirty! A sink and soap are provided for clean up. The price is right- under $2 per piece.

I would absolutely recommend using The Sod Farm if you are looking to purchase sod. Great quality grass that was delivered the same day I called. If you call, make sure you deal with Frank. I purchased over 10 pallets and he made sure everything went smoothly and even called to verify I was satisfied. Overall a very organized, efficient, affordable company with outstanding customer service!!

I have recently went to this company to purchase half a pallet of sod. Once I paid for the half pallet, I was informed to removed 70 pieces from the pallet outside. I didn’t believe the guy. I thought they would load half a pallet, but that’s ok. So I began loading 70 pieces on my trailer. One by one all by myself as Sod farm staff was just walking around doing nothing. After about 30 minutes of loading my own sod, I was finally done and drenched in sweat. I have used this company before. I find that they are usually rude. But beggars can’t be choosers. Not many sod places in the area.

I would stay away from this company. We purchased their services for two pallets, and changed the price at the end by $786. Let me say that I am polite, educated, female, and a Disable Veteran. The installers were rude, and while I cannot speak to the cause, it wasnt appreciated. No one thought to inform me that the purchased/quoted amount ended before putting down more, if in fact it was more. This would have given me an opportunity to see exactly how far the purchased pallets went, thus affording me the opportunity to make an educated decision. I came outside both to greet and show them where the sprinkler heads were located, and they did not acknowledge me at all. It was only when the work was completed, and came to collect the balance owed, that I was informed that the total would be nearly $800 above the quoted price. His response to my query was that he has no time for this. Who would expect to pay nearly $800 more than the agreed price? That is the purpose of getting an invoice or contract prior to the work. And while I do understand that things can happen, wouldnt you, at that point, think it necessary to inform the customer? And why come with an extra pallet in the first place?In regards to the final product, let me say while Im no expert, this also isnt my first experience with sod. The sod was not rolled or flattened to help the roots to knit. There were several overlaps, as well as gaps here and there.Overall, I would not recommend this company.

I have bought sod many times before an this place is the worst i bought 2000 sq ft of sod when it arrived it was already turning yellow and i was only able to do 1800 sq ft my yeard is only 1900 sq ft so i should of end up with extra pieces but i ended up short over a 100 sq ft . i went in and spoke with the owner and he was the rude biter old man ever. I guess ill be stopping payment and he can come his his yellow grass

Should have listened to the reviews, I bought 4 pallets here and its been 4 weeks and it looks ok, but I have at least 3 pieces almost completely dead Ive watered twice a day for almost a month. My lawn was completely level and down to the dirt but their cuts of sod were all over the place, my lawn looks staggered I should have used gladiator like I did last time and who my neighbor recently used. He put his In 1 week ago and its thick green, lustrous, and even. Ive replaced a lawn 9 years ago with gladiator and it came out amazing. I tried to save a few bucks and now Im shooting myself in the foot. My lawn guy, and neighbors also swear they gave me two different types of grass. They look a little different in other sections. So stay away. I know some how they will say its my fault. But trust me its not.

Doesn’t know how to load a trailer. Put all the weight to the front of the trailer instead of axle and bent my frame. Do not recommend to anyone. Also on the terms on the back of their paper that you sign states that they are not liable for any damage to truck or trailer while loading which in my eyes means they don’t know how to load a trailer. Which means these guys don’t know what they’re doing. Fraudulent company do not recommend to anyone. If I could recommend zero stars I would also they did not recommend to fix it or give me a discount off of sod their customer service was ridiculous!!!!!!! 8/21/2018

Very very nice people! Did our yard recently and it looks great and they were very helpful. I highly recommend.

There was a lot of mold and dead grass in the three pallets that I ordered. About 1/4 of it was bad. After nursing the rest of it for a week more or less 3/4 of it will be fine. The rest is a waste. I would hope I would receive some type of a credit or replacement of the bad sod.

I just bought sod from them only sod around during rainy season not good grass at all an unbelievable amount of weeds and 400 sq cost $260 outrageous this place should be shut down .and its sand base not topsoil base was very unhappy will never ever use again I would rather wait to get good grass from the local store on st rd 54 awsome sod there as well as plants if I was able to make a choice I would of not picked a 1 stare it would of been 00000

4-23-2016 After being stood up again for the 2nd weekend by another sod company on 54. I went to Sod Farm on Ridge Rd. I was greeted by a very nice young man whom directed me to the office. Ask if they could deliver me 5 pallets of St Augustine (I excepted 1 day next week) NO...., the girl ask me do you want it today?? I was floored....Yes !!!So, I got my 5 pallets delivered about 2 hours later.... driver placed them in my yard nicely and even showed me how to lay the sod.AWESOME SOD - ALL AROUND NICE PROFESSIONAL COMPANY!!Special Thanks to Marie*****

I do not recommend this Company. While I was inside paying for my sod, they were putting the sod in my truck. When I got home I noticed they damaged my truck with the forklift. $600.00 in damages. When I called them they said they are not responsible. Not responsible is when its not your carelessness. They knew they damaged the truck and didnt say anything.

Side was cheap and cursed pallet was beautiful but the last four have been very disappointing. Make sure you check the bottom layers and that they are cut evenly

We are very disappointed. They were deceptive and unethical.We were clearly told the sod was fresh from the field yet delivered a brown pallet.They charged us an additional $70 delivery fee to exchange the brown pallet with a fresh green one that should have been done the first time.We discussed the issue with them but they were unwilling to make things right. They should reconsider and refund the $70 delivery fee.

Poor quality sod, mold, thin pieces fell apart, loss at least 20% pallet to dried out fragments, over priced, pallet deposit, called to report issues, girl said, yes i guess it cut too thin, just water it will fine. Not fine, had to buy another pallet week or so later to replace the sod we purchased from the sod farm.Sad customer service, pathetic product, over priced. Worst $300 we spent.

Worst company ever. They double charged us and then refused to issue a credit back. The bank had to take it back by force. Very unethical rude and nasty. Never buy from here.

By far the cheapest place to get plugs. I needed to do 1500sqft and The Sod Farm was hundreds of dollars less. The plugs look great!

We went to pick up 2 pallets of sod. What they did not know is I was watching what they were doing. I observed them mixing the old dried up grass that was really not sell-able in with new pallets that just arrived. I told my husband to go out back and check and pick his pallets so it would be fresh. They looked fresh but when we got home and started the laying process in the middle where you can not see it was nothing but old not use-able sod. So buyer be ware! We will never use this company again! Also their web price was $99 pallet. Check $115 and when we pointed this out the response was so! Would not honer the posted price on the internet. I will call them Scammers!

I chose your company for the price what a mistake that was. I have battled with weeds infesting my grandparents lawn since I laid it. Every time i called to complain about it i was fed nonsense. Only just decided to leave a review when I got much better sod from another company. Notice how i DIDNT advertise what company... Not every bad review is another company, sometimes believe it or not people have bad experiences As for your Ignorant AF comment about reviews hidden by yelp. The people were friendly and helpful. Sod was delivered on time and in great shape.

Their website says they are open 7 days a week, I drove an hour to get there, and they werent open. We even waited until almost 11am. The answering service just puts you on hold, no way to leave a message.

We ordered 1 pallet of sod form them to replace 300sq. ft. of our yard....there is supposed to be 400sq.ft per pallet by industry standards so we figured we would just use the extra in the back. (Just like the last time we re-sodded 2yrs ago,) Needless to say the pallet they delivered didnt cover our yard. Not only did they shorts us as I noted when they made the deliver but there sod is junk...falling apart with no muck base at all. Never do business with these people ever!!!!!

Our experience with the sod farm was beyond terrible. On our first visit they sold us a pallet of sod that was near dead and lokked as if it had been sitting in the Mojave desert before being delivered to their facility. We returned the sod because it was completely unacceptable. We decided to give them another chance against better judgement and despite the warnings we recieved from everyone else that had made the mistake of doing business with such unprofessional and unethical people. We purchased 3 pallets of sod totaling $906 and brought it home to install it. The sod that was on top of the pallet looked great but after getting a few rows down we found out that not only did they sell us a cheaper lower quality sod covered up by the sod we thought we were purchasing but the sod was cut so thin that it was crumbling and coming off the pallet in small pieces that were unusable. It basically looked like a pallet of sod plugs. We used what we could and tried to make the best of it. The unusable sod that was left over which was well over a whole pallet we ended up loading back up to return to them because they refused to pick it up unless we laid them $65 to pick up the garbage they sold us. When we arrived at their establishment we were told that the owner wasnt there and that she was in St Petersburg when in fact the lady at the counter we were speaking to was the owner. They refused to work with us and give us any credit for the unusable sod and insisted that we intentionally damaged the sod by ripping it off the pallet carelessly. The spoke to us in a very unprofessional manor and one of the owners began ripping sod off of another oallet in the parking lot and throwing it around like a monkey at the zoo. We ended up cutting our losses and leaving to go throw away what was left because it was unusable and clearly we were getting nowhere with the so called sod professionals that we were dealing with. I would not recommend this company to anyone for anything. They are unprofessional and unethical and all around bad people. They spend their time trying to cover up their lies and overcharging for the garbage product that they sell. They must know how bad their product is and how badly they treat their customers if they have to lie and claim they are not the owners. I only gave them a one star rating because that is the lowest option and they deffinitely sont even deserve that. Stay as far away from this place and these people as possible because you will only leave there wanting to stick your head in an oven. There are many other places out there with a better product for a cheaper price and owners and employees that will treat you like a valued customer. This place should be shut down before they can take advantage of anyone else.

This is my second purchase from The Sod Farm, Purchased a pallet of Bahia Sod, was told that it was a 450 SQ FT Pallet, it was 300 SQ FT. The sod is horrible, likely had 20 full pieces, everything else was broken up in smaller pieces and full of weeds. My first experience yeilded the same results - First time I purchase Floratam and Bahia - the square footage was off on every pallet Floratam was in better shape but it too had issues. Bahia exact same experience - so why did I purchase from them again - HOA required that the sod be in by Feb 24 or fined $1000 per day - SOD Depot was out of it - Which by the was 500 sq ft per pallet for $40 less - The Sod Farm is a rip off...

Worst sod company. The prices are higher then any other sod place I know, plus the pallets of st Augustine only have 400sq ft. I bought 10 pallets yesterday from them and they were all short .

Just wish a better explanation between sand base and muck base, sand base was very difficult to install as it fell apart so easy, I would have easy spent the extra charge for sod that would have stayed together besides that every thing else was a great experience when I went there and they loaded me up

I should have listened to all poor reviews. This company is horrible. Their product is total junk. It comes infested with insects and disease so they can make more money by selling insecticide treatments and weed treatments. My Advise DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER USING THEM!! They come and put the sod down and as soon as the last piece is down they are all jumping in their trucks and leaving. They gave NO verbal instructions on how to care for the lawn before or after installation.oh I would rate 0 stars or -5 but there is no option for that.

I bought a dozen pallets of grass, and they ended up scamming me out of the pallets deposit, and a delivery fee. I was told since the credit card processor they use is holding thier money, that I wouldnt be avle to get my deposit money until they got paid from them. Meanwhile, I called my credit card company only to find out, it has nothing to do with me. The Sod Farm says their processor is holding $18k of thier money in case of charge backs. I guess Im not the only one.

Very bad experience! These people quoted a price to do the entire yard and tried to make me pay more to have the job completed after it was three quarters done. They are unethical, rude people! Stay away!!! Grass was ant infested and not healthy looking. Buy somewhere else!!!!!!

They had the entire measurements of my lawn they gave me a quote FOR ALL OF THIS .they came turned over all the soil ..only to come home to a landing strip not completed .. the owner REFUSES to place the LAST STRIP DOWN .. Do not trust them they rob you .. my lawn looks ridiculous!!! THANKS SOD FARM

I bought 2 pallet of sod from them, It and weed and bugs in it, withing a month there weeds growing all over my lawn. I would not buy Sod from here again

What a disappointing experience. We measured our yard, called sod farms with the measurements, THEY calculated the square-footage and told us how much sod we would need. They said 1 and a half pallets. Turns out that we only needed 3/4 of one pallet. When we realized what a gross over delivery we were given we measured the yard AGAIN and came up with the SAME dimensions. So, THEY made a mistake in their calculations. We paid $381 and all they offered to do was refund us $10.....for THEIR MISTAKE. Not a very good experience at all.

As one of many who has been caught up in the housing crunch, I have a house for sale that is empty. My front yard has fallen into disrepair, requiring new St. Augustine sod. I was quoted a reasonable rate by Sod Farms of Pasco and even though I was hollered at by the lady behind the counter (older of the two who provide customer service?), I wrote it off as my fault for being a bit impatient with getting the quote from Frank (customer service guy) and decided to move ahead with the transaction. Sod Farms came to the house, sprayed out the old grass, then waited the required few days before installing 2400 sq. ft. of St. Augustine sod. Everything was done without notifying me in advance so I was not there when the work was done. As it turns out, they installed grass that was disease ridden (dark rust / purple color) and over 70% of the turf was dying within 2 weeks. I discussed the situation with Frank (customer service guy) who indicated the sod had some fungus, they would treat with fungicides and keep an eye on it. One week later I went to the house and to my surprise, 70% of the sod had been replaced, along with 1 destroyed sprinkler head, incapaciting a zone required to irrigate the sod. I went to the store on Ridge Road to ask why I wasnt told about the sod replacement and to ask about the sprinkler head, only to find out they were closed and on vacation for 2 weeks. Oh well, I fixed the head, made sure the irrigation was set to irrigate new sod (again!), and tried to be grateful that an attempt was made to fix the situation. As I had paid by credit card, I did have the opportunity to deny the charge (as I am sure Frank, customer service guy, was aware), but decided not to. Well here it is 4 weeks later, Sod Farms has been paid and the new sod has pretty much died. Frank (customer service guy) informs me that I have chinch bugs in the new sod and that this needs to be treated. He went as far as to say this should happen on a weekly basis if needed. Doesnt matter that the bugs came with the sod, my bad, not theirs!! As an ex-golf course superintendent and Class A member of the GCSAA, I have dealt wih turf and sod for years and know proper procedures and protocol for grasses and how to handle new sod. In addition, if an effective chemical is going to be used, restrictions on chemical applications makes Franks (customer service guy) suggestion of weekly applications pretty much illegal. Long story short, Sod Farms utilized an empty house to unload damaged goods (twice) and then chose to insult the customers intelligence by saying their company is not at fault, nor responsible. Sod Farms is as bad as it gets and should be avoided at all costs!!!
