We stayed at this beautifully furnished home in Bywater, convenient to great restaurants, bars, galleries and walking distance to the Frenchman Street and the French Quarter. The home is fully renovated with high-end appliances, super comfortable beds and the best shower I have ever had. While there are plenty of great places to eat nearby, we did use the gorgeous kitchen to make some meals with friends. The photos on their website more than live up to expectations. The tranquil garden is delightful. We didnt want to leave. Hope to come back soon yall.
This is a beautiful home with gorgeous high ceilings and a beautiful garden area to relax outside. Close to the French Quarter. Charming bars and restaurants all close by. Perfect place to come home to after a day exploring the city. The kitchen is one you wish you could take home with you. The owners really thought of everything. We enjoyed everything about our stay. Highly recommend!
Greatmen is impeccably maintained with lovely touches throughout. The high ceilings create a roomy space while the furnishings minimize noise. There is a gourmet kitchen, perfect for entertaining or an intimate family gathering. I loved the expansive courtyard; we sat outside every night (bring bug spray). This was our second stay at Greatmen and we will absolutely return. The house is close enough to Frenchman and Bourbon streets (we walked everywhere) yet far enough away we didnt feel we were in the middle of a party. The owner, Jim, was accommodating and easy to work with. He responded within minutes and made the entire experience easy.
We stayed in this home in the Bywater section near the French Quarter. It is fabulous. Parking was easy. Just a short walk around the corner you will find views of the Mississippi River. There are wonderful restaurants located near this home . As for the house the kitchen is well equipt with high end appliances. This home has been decorated with impeccable taste. The bathrooms are beautiful with classic fixtures and tile showers. This home is a destination and a experience in itself with its beautiful courtyard. A wonderful refuge to explore New Orleans and the French Quarter. Dont miss the opportunity to stay here!
Fantastic place, beautiful rooms. Everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. Loved the court yard and privacy We will be back
This was our first time in NOLA and also our first time renting from VRBO. The home was just as nice as the pictures depicted and the host was extremely communicative and helpful. The house is very close to a beautiful walkway that takes you along the Mississippi right to the French Quarters. We had a car, but there are places to eat within walking distance and parking was never a problem. We stayed with grandparents and young children so definitely family friendly. We would definitely stay here again!Date of arrivalMarch 23, 2017
Charming, cozy, perfect house!!★ ★ ★ ★ ★The Greatman Cottage was everything we were looking for and more. From the unique, antique furniture to the detailed instructions on how everything works and where/what to eat/drink/do in the neighborhood, I cannot give this place a better review. James was so easy to communicate with and made our stay even more enjoyable. I would recommend the Cottage to anyone and cant wait for the chance to stay here again.Date of arrivalDecember 29, 2017
One of the BEST★ ★ ★ ★ ★We had a fantastic time at the Cottage, made more special by the wonderful host, Jim. The Cottage is designer quality in its decor and layout- spacious, comfortable, elegant. Its like a beautiful Brownstone on the inside with open areas and separate sleeping quarters upstairs. We felt very at home there and Jim was extremely helpful - from small details like preparing a welcome manual on the house & neighborhood, to offering to drive us to pick up champagne for New Years Eve! The location is a stones throw from French Quarters, in a hip fun neighborhood. I have been all over the world, traveling for fun and business; I can say that the stay at the Cottage ranks up there as being one of the most comfortable and fun. I HIGHLY recommend this elegant home for anyones trip to NOLA.Date of arrivalDecember 29, 2016
Stayed here for a week in the winter and had a wonderful time. Loved the neighborhood. Loved the house. The best way to spend time with friends. Had been to New Orleans once before and since then was always looking for an opportunity to go back. So glad my friend suggested this place - the house was all we wanted. Comfortable, warm, easy, clean and close to all we wanted to see. The hosts were so easy to work with and even gave recommendations for places nearby - went to several of them and their advice was spot on. This is exactly what you want in a vacation rental.
Greatmen Cottage is really one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. The care with which the hosts have taken in restoring this home is remarkable. From the outside this home seems like a modest, well-kept typical New Orleans home. But when you enter you are floored by how big it is and how beautifully decorated it is. Everything from an amazing kitchen I would love to have in my own home, to a spacious living area where our group of eight gathered comfortably. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds and linens are comfortable. I loved the shower with the rain showerhead. The garden is huge and beautiful with a stunning fountain and gorgeous lighting at night.Jim, the host, has prepared a fantastic guide that covers absolutely everything. I wouldn’t hesitate to rent this place. You won’t be sorry!
I cant say enough good things about Greatmen Cottage. The place is just perfect. Great amenities, charming location and the garden is amazing. The owner is easy to work with and provides all the information you need to make your stay fabulous.
This is an incredible period home of 1838 with 15 first floor ceilings, well maintained with impressive directions of everything to do with this home and the surrounding area. We were happy to walked to so many good neighborhood restaurants within 3 to 5 minutes. Elizabeths Restaurtant only a few minutes walk was one of my favorites for breakfast. We were also able to walk 1 mile to Cafe Du Monde for Beignets & Coffee and discovered that we really did need to walk after all the great food in the French Quarter. I will try to get this home again on my next visit to one of my all time favorite cities.
Greatman’s Cottage was a delightful place to stay for my first visit to New Orleans in many years. The location is surprisingly convenient to the sights one must see in the French Quarter, either by a leisurely walk through interesting neighboring streets, along a riverfront park, or via the ubiquitous Uber drivers that are always available. Bywater itself is deceptively cool, which you can quickly pick up on when you eat at one of the many local eateries (it seems the smaller they were, the hipper they were) or have drinks at the bars. My crew was also waylaid a couple of times in the place (once by weather and once by the Super Bowl) and hanging out in Greatman’s Cottage was a breeze for a large group of us. It never felt crowded because the place is much larger than it appears, with a spacious kitchen, large dining area (we were able to seat 9 easily for meals) and then a huge living room and entry area. There is a large yard that beckoned, although there were too many other entertainment options to keep many of us out there for too long – but it was a great place for morning coffee. The bedroom I used was very comfortable and I never heard a peep out of any other lodge mates. The place is comfortably elegant with emphasis on comfortable. Thumbs up to the proprietors, this place is a charmer.
