As a resident of Gentilly Terrace, I have felt very let down by Metro. Our trash service here can best be described with one word: neglect. Normal trash pickup days come and go, the trash remains. Sometimes with weeks between pickups. Trash cans permanently lining our streets for weeks, months, at a time. And thats just the regular service. I also had an approved/assigned bulk item pickup that sat untouched for 3 months. After about a month of waiting, I was given Metro’s contact number and I called just about every day for two months getting the same story (“we’re sending a supervisor out to pick it up for you right now”), but no one ever showed up. First their excuse was COVID (despite other contractors in the city being able to fulfill their services), and then when Ida hit, they pivoted to that as an excuse. I eventually just gave up and dropped it off myself at the city-wide recycling day a couple weekends ago. Trash service is something we pay for. We expect to be treated with decency and respect, which is exactly the opposite of how we have felt week after week and month after month of neglectful service. To the city: please award our neighborhood’s contract to a functional company who will do what it takes to retain a workforce (a livable wage for its workers would be a start).
No garbage pick up the whole week before the storm, no trash collection since. It stinks, rotten trash everywhere. I want to finally clean out the fridge/freezer but garbage cans overflowing.Like a 3rd world country and they charge each month for what?
If I could give a zero star, I would. This is the most unprofessional garbage company I have ever seen. They don’t pick up when they are scheduled and when they pick up, they leave trash all over the place, they throw the garbage cans in the road. The workers are very rude and could care leas about the neighborhoods they are supposed to be servicing. The only reason they are probably still in business is because they offer cheap service to the towns they deal with. I live in LaPlace, La. they are a horrible company .
Some areas are getting their trash picked up twice a week while other areas haven’t seen a pick up in 3-4 weeks. I hope this company is sued out of business and the owners lose everything they own which was obtained by ripping off the citizens of New Orleans. Pay your workers a living wage. You are crooks and deserve the worst life has to offer.
I requested a new garbage can. The old one was picked up but a new one was never delivered. Nobody has answers and VERY unprofessional when you call for help.
Trash has not been picked up in over two weeks. It is embarrassing to have out-of-state guest come to your home and witness would should be an attractive neighborhood. The city needs to step up and remove this company. Other trash vendors, Richards Disposable and Sidney Torras seems to have no trouble getting drivers or workers. Maybe, Metro need to ask either of these companies for assistance.
Today makes 29 days since I’ve had trash pick up!! I called 3 times on Saturday (5 days ago) and was told the first 2 times someone would be out. 3rd time I was told I wouldn’t be served until Monday. On Tuesday no pick up so I called in the morning and was told dispatch didn’t have a time yet and to call back after lunch. Called at 2 PM told they didn’t know when they were coming because they were catching up from the storm… mind you almost 2 weeks prior to the storm I didn’t have pick up. I said okay. Called back 3 times today phone rings 6 times and hangs up.
They never pick up the trash. 3 weeks and Im still waiting for trash pick up. Im not paying a dime this month to sewetage and water board.

Customer service is horrible. They dont know how to resolve issues and dont care. ZERO STARS as far as I am concerned...... We bought a new house and moved there on March 7th, 2021. On March 8th, 2021, we called and asked for a garbage can and the lady on the reception said our name has been added to the list and we will get the trash bin. We have been calling since then and now its July 21, 2021, almost 4.5 months and still didnt get a trash bin. Everytime I call the lady said our name on the list. Can someone help us getting a trash bin?

Metro is the worst trash pickup service company in New Orleans. I’m a commercial customer that pays for 4 days a week. They hadn’t pickup my trash in over a week. I call to speak to management with no reply! I’m trying to cancel my service & can’t get In touch with the company. Unprofessional, lazy workers. I had to feed & offer drinks in order for them to come, & once that stopped they stopped coming! This company couldn’t pay me to stay with them!
They put the cart very near to my driveway and whine I called to complain the women that work their put me on hold repeatedly.Finally I called city hall to have the cart moved the trash sat their without doing anything . I CACCED city Hall again, anb said they are just sitting. The person at city hall said I thought I wanted to talk with them, I replied tell them to move the can.HORRIBLE Customer Service.

Have been waiting over 5 months for a garbage can. I have called every month trying to get one. Just keep saying that they will deliver one. We get charged every month for a service that we cannot use because they will not deliver us a garbage can and when we offered to come pick one up they told us that we can not do that. They expect us to just bag garbage and leave it laying around and I guess then drag to the street for pickup or animals to make a mess of it. Worst service ever!
We hadnt had our recycling picked up in two weeks, on the second week the worker picked up our garbage and emptied into the garbage truck, he then took the blue recycle bin and emptied it into the same garbage truck, all caught on camera, when i got to the front door and asked the worker about it, he stated, we are short of trucks so we put it all in one truck and were running behind.how does it go? They pick up trash when they want to. Pick and choose which cans they want to pick up. They passed me up in my face and picked up my neighbors can and ignored me. Smh!
I ordered my trash bins on 11/4/20 I have been waiting over a month for my trash bins to be delivered. I was told initially it would be within four weeks. No one that works there can tell me when they will be delivered. I have called almost daily now asking to speak to the supervisor, I have even tried emailing - they have never contacted me back. Currently paying for a service I can not utilize. Not very impressed with this company.
This was the first pickup day after a hurricane. My second day of weekly service was canceled due to the actual day of the storm. Monday was my pickup day. They did not show up until Tuesday (a day later then normal pickup day). Of course the can was full, after missing two days of pickup. I had to place bags of trash out for pickup because the can was full. . They emptied the trash out of the can and left the bags on the curb. Last time I recalled I am charged for trash pickup. This is not a free service, The City of New Orleans receives their money for this service every month. I normally tip them cash when I have a lot of trash outside. However they passed a day late and early in the morning so I was not available to meet them with a tip. The driver and the workers are willing to accept money to haul anything (stove, tables, sodas), but can not pick up trash that they are paid to do. This company really lives up to it’s name. A garbage company !

They pick and choose which trash cans they pick up on each street! I just watched them come back a second time and not pick up mine and two others trash Metro Disposal needs to close down! We need a better disposal company in the east area! Their contract for the East needs to be terminated as well as their employees
What was the purpose? The garbage truck passed about 8:45 pm last night in my subdivision. I was standing in the door. I watched as the truck sped down my block and did not stop. There were many cans out; they had been out since early in the morning due to it being our regular trash collection day. Well this morning while driving through the neighborhood it was a hit and miss with the collection. Sime cans had been emptied and many were still full.My sanitation fees are paid on time. Please pick up my garbage on time
I wish I could give a negative rating because this company is exactly what they advertise! GARBAGE!!! This company is despicable! When Metro passes to do the trash run, they NEVER pick up our trash. We have called weekly trying to figure out what the issue is. I wish Sidney Torres, IV still had a contract with the city for the residential area because when he had it, this city was spotless! Metro could definitely use a crash course training on how this line of work should be done! Metro is an absolute joke!
This review is not to reflect on the workers who work harder than most people in the US for a thankless job. This review is to post awareness of this companies policies. During a pandemic the workers asked to be heard about their concerns for their safety - the company did not provide hazard pay (even though their 10$/hr pay is not even possible to live on in a NORMAL day to day - for a HARD job that literally BREAKS your body), nor provided any safety equipment for the workers.Instead the company made a deal to hire prisoners at 1.33$/hr to replace the workers.Modern. Day. Slavery.Tell your city we want this company gone.If you cant pay people a living wage and run your company SOMEWHAT ethically then you dont deserve to be in business. Period.

Do not expect this company to be on time, do not expect this company to hold their workers accountable, do not expect them to listen to any of your request. This review is not indicative of the drivers or pick up guys...Thank you for the work you do! I called Metro on October 18 because our trash can was stolen. I have called several times since that date inquiring as to why I have yet to receive a replacement. Twelve weeks later and I have no can. I have been told: “You are on the list, what more do you want?”, “We were bringing a replacement and then something happened.”, “We ran out of cans, but have you on the list.”...So, here I am putting bags of garbage on my porch until pickup day. Just daring roaming animals to litter my yard with garbage and remain an eye sore of a house on an otherwise tidy block.
4-something a.m. pickup in a quiet, non-commercial neighborhood? Pretty sure that’s illegal. And if not, it’s rude AF. Does the driver’s ex-wife live up in here or something? That’s the only reason I can think why anyone would spend 15-20 minutes banging a dumpster against their truck before 5 in the morning.
My garbage pick ups are on Monday n Thursday...they passed (heard them)..my garbage can was on sidewalk...they missed it...BUT picked up all other cans...when calling them...LOUD speaking woman (with attitude) gives me time they passed in my area...took my name n cell for supervisor...supervisor NEVER called! I contacted 311...they claim the supervisor will pick up b4 closing...that didnt happen! I pay for garbage pick up every month! Hurricane winds to come n rain...now I have to put my can in garage...poor service! New Orleans needs to change companies!

I work for Metro. People can be so rude and simple. I have no problem getting a late can but on a constant pick up No. You all know when the pick up day is but some how you forget to put your can out or leave it to close to your home and call when we dont pick it up. Its no excuse for not having your can out its as easy as putting it out before bed you cant do that but am supposed to stop what am doing to come back and get your can.Then yell I pay for this but have two or three cans....... But you only pay for one. Sad
My garbage has been out since Tuesday and they pick up in this area on Wednesday (no pick up) and today is Saturday (still no pick up). This is ridiculous and nasty at the same time. Can’t call them because when I do it’s an automatic machine comes on saying you’ve reached metro and this call will be recorded (something like that) then hang up.

No pickup Saturday 12/21. Called Sunday to city 311 line to report. Given case number and told metro would call me monday . Get home monday . No call trash can still on curb. Call city back they transferred me to dispatch . Supervisor busy csnt take my call. Left msg still waiting on call back xmas is wed so we know there will be no pickup. so I pay for services and ONE week with NO pickupNot the first time this has happened.Entire block skipped how does that happen????
Dont even bother calling to tell them your trash didnt get picked up. Apparently its my fault because I didnt call and report on that day. I now have to wait a week for my garbage to be picked up. I pay for this????? Staff hung up on me and cant get in touch with anyone to file a complaint. City of NOLA says not their concern!
All in all one of the poorest run companies aside from the sewerage and water board. If they weren’t a monopoly we would certainly hire someone else.
This is the third time Ive had to contact Metro about them not picking up my recyclables. I realized after the second time, I will need to not only call Metro directly, but I will document the request by sending an email to 311. I never had this issue until last month, and now it seems like theres no sign of it stopping!
I had an issue with trash service. I called on a Saturday thinking Id just have to leave a message. Instead, I had an immediate response and the issue was taken care of. Customer service and response time were very impressive! Thanks!

I watched truck 172 driver tell his hoppers to take trash off the truck an throw it back on the ground in front of my door I also have it on video I called nobody has come back to get it up but I will not let it rest cause that’s horrible an whoever answers the phone is just as unpleasant as the driver an workers y’all are running this business to the dogs
Both driver and hopper are complete AHoles! I didnt know that they were passing a day early due to the weather, but I ran out while they were picking up in front of my door trash can in hand when the hopper yells I dont wait for nobody and they pulled off. Considering they couldnt pass yesterday due to flooding and werent scheduled to return until Saturday😡 #pissedoffUptown
They took the cans on either side of mine, but left my can untouched and full. I called and complained. The truck came back and again, they refused it. There was nothing unordinary in it, just household trash.I called again and they promised pick-up later that day.When they hadnt come the next day, i called again and got the same promise. Still nothing. I called again this morning and got the same promise. I dont have high hopes. I wish there was a zero stars setting.
These are the most unprofessional people I have ever met in business. I feel sorry forthe owner. He and his family are losing money with people that are in contact with customers that are completely rude. It’s sad because I wanted to support them but their attitudes are horrible.
Poor customer service. We had a crawfish boil on Saturday and put 6 bags of trash along side our garbage can for pick up on Tuesday morning.Metro Disposal policy is to only dump the can and NOT any additional bags outside the can.On Tuesday morning they only dumped the can and left 6 bags of crawfish and seafood out on the curb for Fridays pickup. We called several times on Tuesday offering to pay more for an additional pick up.Metro Disposal refused to accomidate.tjier customer. Very poor customer service.
Horrible service!!! I pay for pick up twice a week, they hardly come twice a week and half the time they leave garbage in the street and in our can. Im tired of paying for twice a week when they dont come twice a week and when I call to see who I can call to get my money back for the non service I pay for I get the run around. If I could upload the pictures of the mess they make in our nice neighborhood I would! Clean up your act before I call all the news stations!
On multiple occasions they have missed collection all together or decided not to take the trash that was put out. Since they have a monopoly on the garbage pick up in this area, we dont have many options other than to keep complaining until they are replaced with another company that will willingly do the job we are paying them for.

This business needs training. The person who answers the phone is Really Unprofessional and needs to be trained in customer service. Its a shame for the trash pick up fee to increase 100% from $12 to $24 and customers cant even get a replacement trash can. This place needs to be taught Customer Service.

Terrible customer service. So unreliable. You can call for them to pick up and there is an 80% chance they won’t pick up the dumpster. When you call you are automatically billed so if you do use them track if they pick up your load so that you are over build. The ladies answering the phone I completely unprofessional. It was a nightmare using their service.
If I could leave less than 1 star I would. The company missed our trash pickup regularly and would argue with me about it when I would call. Claimed they had GPS on the truck that showed they were there to pick up the trash. Might have been there, and gone by the property but NO trash was picked up. Trash container was stolen, they did not replace it after numerous calls and complaints. Finally went with another company.
My dad didn’t know they was passing by because he was cleaning out a room . So when he went out side to go and call them they just completely ignored him . That was really rude of them.
Laziest group of people Ive ever seen for garbage collection. They leave the cans in the middle of the street where cars have to dodge them, half of the time the trash doesnt even get picked up and my neighbors and I have to call to get them to pick it up. They pick up what they only want to. Waste management was so much better than these monkeys.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Driver 169 almost flipped my car on Hwy 90 coming out of River Birch disposal. I called to let management know about this accident and his words were “what do you want me to do about it?” I wonder how he will handle the call when they have a dead family on the road??? These are some lazy, nonchalant, group of people,,, you would think that they are on a work release program. I called because my recycling had not been picked up for no good reason, I asked since it was lundi gras (The day before Mardi Gras) if it was considered a holiday for them, I was told,,, no dey just musta fagot chew, Imma tell dey soupaviza Wednesday but it wont be picked up na til nex Monday, cuz da truck already in. I constantly have to call to get my recycling picked up. Its been over a month this time around. This company has no customer service skills whatsoever,! When you call to complain, they sound like they could give a rats ass about it. Probably not even taking your information down when they ask for it. If I could give a zero stars, I would. It also seems there is no way to get any credit towards the 50 bucks a month I pay for two rental units to be serviced. Metro disposal SUCKS.
Like others have mentioned, service is bad. Garbage usually gets picked up but recycling, forget it. I just saw the truck pick up my neighbors recycling, and speed off to the next block and not pick up mine. This always happens, I always call to complain, and the dispatch insists its not getting picked up because its on a different day. But I just saw the truck... Total stupidity.
Was riding on my bike with my two children in a trailer behind me near city park. A metro disposal garbage truck ran a stop sign and almost killed us. I yelled at the driver and the worker hanging on the back repeatedly yelled “F them kids! F them kids!” Except he didn’t say “F.” Really makes you lose faith in the world when people can be so low to curse out children.
Horrible, horrible, incompetent; we had a commercial account and cans went missing. They requested for us to contact the police, for their property. So I am supposed to call the police on their behalf, a commercial company, to use public resources. Nope. I have seen their guys take the cans themselves, because, well its easier to just dump the entire can in the back of their truck.

I have lived in the city for years and until I moved to an area with metro disposal I have never had a issue with trash collection. You put trash out by the curb and it was picked up. With Metro disposal many times the trash is not picked up. My neighborhood has trash on the curb on many of the blocks that is just not getting picked up. It looks unsightly and attracting insects and mice.
Wont replace my trashcan until I get a police item number and.... hadnt picked up trash in our neighborhood for over a week even after being promised that it will be picked up by the each day of me calling.
