West Gate was a wonderful place to live. My now fiance and I lived there for two years and have nothing but great things to say about the staff and community. Mary Lou, Kim, and Beto are all wonderful to work with and genuinely care about their tenants. The community itself is wonderful - great for kids and pet lovers alike. We never once felt unsafe in our entire time living there, which given the bad rep New Haven tends to get is a big plus.As far as the apartment goes, the 2 bedrooms are very spacious - its very much like having a home. Plenty of room for storage and a pretty nice layout. The only two knocks I would have are that the kitchen is very narrow, which we adjusted to just fine, and the walls seem to be lacking insulation. There is adequate heating and they allow AC units, but there are no vents or windows in the bathroom, so there were plenty of very cold mornings in the winter. They do seem to be focusing on making some energy efficiency upgrades though, so Id expect things to keep getting better. All in all, we have nothing but happy memories of our time at West Gate.Also, the move out process was phenomenal. You always worry about how things are going to go with the security deposit, but we had absolutely zero issues. We received the check quickly, which was surprising after my last apartment took months for a far smaller deposit.Overall, if youre looking for an apartment in the Woodbridge area, West Gate is your best bet. Close to the highway, and close enough to the downtown area that you can drive in...while being far enough away that youre not constantly fighting for parking.

West Gate Apartments is amazing! It is pet friendly, spacious apartments, quiet street (with one parking space for every apartment) and amazing management. Mary Lou and Kimberly (in the Leasing Office) are very personable and know almost all the tenants by name. They keep communication open and email tenants about weather advisories and reminders. Maintenance is always quick to come fix anything needed. A great find in New Haven!

If i could give a 0 star review i would. Mary Lou Angeloni is very unprofessional she does not know how to have a civilized conversation. A complete liar. Is very unfortunate that she is a manager.

Ive been here three years and I have no complaints. Very quiet and peaceful... its like a little community. No hanging out no loud music ... just peace and quiet.

I lived here for two and half years. For some of that time, I can agree with the previous review. The snow and ice was horrible, and general maintenance and upkeep were also horrible. At the beginning of 2012 a new management company took over, the snow and ice and all other maintenance including major (new siding) to minor (better lawn care) became 10 times better. As for the bugs, from day 1 we moved in bugs and insects were regularly checked for, every 30 to 60 days, and we never had any issues at all. As for the rent, for a 2 bedroom, 2 floor town house, over 900 square feet + a whole basement for storage, and your washer dryer hookups in the Westville area of New Haven, it is one of the best deals Ive seen.
