Loved this place! Busy place exciting with live music from the restaurant. They have gift shops, blacksmith shop where you can make your own knife. That takes about 30 minutes. Bakery, fudge shop, winery, town hall where you can sit an listen to music. Parking is anywhere you can find a spot lived it. Friendly folks
Iconic Texas Venue. Its a must visit even if you dont like Texas Country Music. Lots of shopping and eating around the area. Huge parking lot and tons of live music.
Bands were good, but was supposed to be a DANCE HALL, you cant dance with 800 people packed on the dance floor. No AC and very few places to sit. Dancing is out of the question. We are from Florida so was a big disappointment for us. Wont be back. Oh and the parking is a disaster.
Loved the place. Was there on a Sunday night when it was free music. They have beer and wine to drink. Prices are reasonable. Had a good time.
No mask mandate or social distancing. If you desire to catch COVID, this is where youll get it.
Musicians they book are always very talented. Theres a decent selection of beer, wine and other drinks. Its a nice atmosphere, with fans overhead to keep patrons cool, but it would be great if they had A/C.
Music lover... gotta visit. When Covid isnt present, enjoy awesome service with a great variety of drink options. Back to the music... many, many great albums have been recorded here and movie scenes. Just to be in the same building as your musical heros have been in... priceless. Plenty of things to do around in walking distance. Come enjoy and lets pop a top!
Historically rich and a must see for any native Texas (or Texan at heart).I was blessed enough to introduce my in-laws to this Texas treasure, for their very first time, in October of 2020 (pictured below). They’ve been married for 46 years.Taking an afternoon stroll through this building, light breeze through the chicken wire walls, floorboards creaking beneath your boots, cold Lone Star beer in hand — it’s poetry. If only those walls could talk.If you listen closely, they may just.
What can I say that hasnt been said? Just something about drinking a cold beer and watching live music in this historic place that never gets old.
Very cute, rustic dance hall/bar. Oldest in Texas! Big bar with lots of beverage options, lots of tables and seating available, live country music, a dance floor, and a stage! Surrounded by cute local shops. Great place to visit, grab a drink, and enjoy some good music! Indoor and outdoor, no A/C.
Its possible that the live music withdrawal from COVID is impacting my judgement here, but the American Aquarium show I saw here was the best energy for a concert Ive seen outside of a Turnpike Troubadours show. I think the venue is to be at least partially credited for that. Bring cash if you want to partake of the bar, and dress like youre aware of the no-AC reality and youll have a great time.A bucket-list venue for a reason.
Every chance I get I visit this historic dance hall. If your not from Texas you wont understand.
Randall King was playing. We werent able to get in cause it was sold out, but you can still hear from outside. The guy can sing! Had a great time.
Fun place. Lots of pictures on the walls and a nice bar to get beer and wine from. I was there during the day, so I cant really comment on the concerts. If you like Country Music - this is a must do.
Really cute, small, and the people very kind,Thankx✌💜💙First time being here with my family, and liked it alot
Fun spot to hang out and cant wait to go back and see a concert
Always a good time in Gruene TX! I live in San Antonio and go all the time to the Rustic Swank candle shop. I must have bought so many candles from them. The coffee shop is really cute and I love the olive oil shop where you can get several different flavor of olive oil and balsamic oil. There is even a little shop where you can get raspberry and goat cheese ice cream!!! Who knew that combo would be so good.
Great place for enjoying a beer and listen to good old country music. This whole area has different places which offers live music, dinning and drinks for different types of crowds. But nothing beats the atmosphere of being at the oldest dance hall in Texas. Give it a try.
Sorry..no pics..so boring. My suggestion is to hire a guitarist to play in the slow time .. For what I could see more ppl would be enjoying the hall
Out of this world authentic place. Its a must when you come to Gruene.
Very awesome! Love the atmosphere and music. Can play horse shoes, great time.
Must go to if you live in Texas or if youre a country fan! Literally every big country musician has played here. Big indoor space with tables and seating at the back (cash only), large outdoor area with tables.
Great little find in Texas a must see, plenty of history.
The wings are awesome as always! The fries are pretty good too service wasnt as pleasant as before for some reason I felt like some people really didnt want to be there.. also the food is pretty pricey even though I would still recommend this place for wings bring your money thats for sure..
This place is amazing. Hard to believe how far its come. When I was going there in the 60ies I dont remember it being as big as it is now. I do remember that during the Winter it would be so cold in the dance hall that you would want to start dancing as soon as you walked in so you could get warm..;) The only eat was one little wood stove. The only thing across the street was a saddle shop. Anyway, I took my daughter there the other day with her new boyfriend. I really like that they have live bands there even during the day
This place is legendary. Fun place but bring cash.Cash Only
I love this place and all the shops and restaurants nearby. Venue is perfect to listen to music inside or outside
I eat there often. Wonderful small town, locally owned restaurant. The food is great so are the baked goods. Friendly staff. Very casual atmosphere.
This place was amazing,it had alot fun and cool things to see and to buy. I loved it,this was my second time around.
Gruene and located in the historical town of Gruene, Texas (now a part of New Braunfels), bills itself as the oldest continually run dance hall in Texas. By design, not much has physically changed since the hall was first built. The 6,000-square foot dance hall with a high-pitched tin roof still has the original layout with side flaps for open-air dancing, a bar in the front, a small lighted stage in the back and a huge outdoor garden. Advertisement signs from the 1930s and 1940s still hang in the old hall and around the stage.Glad we made it here!😎#RollingwiththeShasta
It was good, the people are very polite and kind, not to mention offering their help. We love joyful people with a loving attitude, this is one of observations that really stands out. Come on out and show your support and love to this small town. 👋Thank you so much, your lifestyle touched our hearts and lives.💞
Definitely worth seeing. If you can see a performance there, that is even better. Love it.
We had a wonderful time. It was stepping back in time. So much history. The food and views hands down just the best.
Great little historic town. Gruene Hall is a gem.
Hot but good. A few fans to circulate some air would be very helpful.
Love Gruene Hall, been coming here from the coast since I was little kid. Still love it here, summertime of course is hot, but I have lived in Texas my entire life. Doesnt matter what time of year, youll have a good time. I sit here and drink beer and my wife shops and drinks wine.
Plastic is up now making it less safe for those inside without masks. There is less airflow and greater risk of covid. Also it makes it impossible to see the bands if you are social distancing outside. We asked if they would open one flap of plastic. We were met with a stern no! We have been going to Gruene for years.... But may need to find another place. This is not a good change in times of covid.
Are there many places on Earth more magical?!? Something about Gruene Hall is just good for your soul. Love it EVERY time.
Wonderful area. Ate at Grist Mill which was terrific and wandered around the shops. Had a beer at Gruene Hall, a must stop for music and dancehall lovers. Weather was overcast and a bit of mist in the air but still we had a terrific time... great spot
Great atmosphere very laid back, cold beer and live music.
Fun place to stop and unwind. Good live music. Fun time.
Went in because I heard tell a scence from the John Travolta Movie Michael was filmed there - yep guess it was. The town is set for tourists and I was certainly one. It was a very pleasant outing.
My son justin was playing with matts band. It was awesome. Love gruene hall...
Great place to go listen to country music and all kinds. Very nice.☺💕
Best place in all of Texas! Live music dancing, cold Beverages and history. All of the greats have played at Gruene Hall
The food was really good and reasonably priced. Our sweet young waitress Annie took good care if us and was very personable. My wife Twinkle and I had a great time.
We are from Houston Tx, but we absolutely love love New Braunfels. I was looking where to have a nice and yummy lunch and I came across Gruene Hall and I’m so glad found it . We liked the view very much, service was great and the food was delicious. I can’t wait to update this review with more useful information. I highly recommend you this place if you are looking to have a great time with family and friends at a nice restaurant.
Jon Stork and Randall King... One of the best shows Ive seen at the greatest dancehall in Texas!
Fun place to sit and listen to music! Grab a drink or your dancing partner. Lots of seating inside and outside (as long as its not raining).
Bartender was really rude like he didnt want to be here spent 50.00 on entry how a sad. Guess they need to pay better will probably nott come back...and first time here.
Best little dance hall in Texas. In a town thats too cool for words, situated on a bluff overlooking the blue waters of the guadalupe river. Texas AF
True Texas experience! Youll have a hard time finding a better live music venue, especially for free! Absolutely amazing musicians!
Gruene Hall New Braunfels area Texas great place for concerts lots to do while you waiting for go to concert in a bottle of them are free need to check the schedule and get tickets in advance so you pay less there are long lines when there are concerts there but they follow pretty quickly plenty of places around here to get something to eat walk and enjoy a nice atmosphere I like going there during the daytime catch the free concerts and all kinds of music country western Jazz sometimes many local bands play deer and National band play there too great place I quick to knit a lot sometimes two or three times a week this is a nice sports bar across the street to have your favorite hamburger onion rings french fries and watch the game before you go to a concert
Gruene Hall did an outdoor concert really well! I was a little worried about how the sound would come across out in the beer garden, but screen and sound system they used really made it seem like you were inside listening to the concert. It was awesome to hear live music again!
Wow! The history in this place. So glad I could experience the famous Gruene Hall!
What a fun place to visit. My only wish was that I could have been there on a Friday or Saturday night, for the live music and dancing. There just wasnt time in my short vacation. Maybe another time.what History. If only the walls could talk.
Great Historical Place must visit if youre ever in San Antonio,Texas
I met this pretty girl named Rachel while tubing and fishing the Comal River. Her mom recommended this place. Rachel, if you stumble upon this, find me :)
My Husband and I loved this place. Great music, cold beer and cash bar.
Always, always a great experience, and I appreciate that its only a beer joint. We like to go out there at least 2 to 3 times a month
Great old country atmosphere! Great music of all genres! Beer not always very cold. So they do need to step it up on that area. I totally enjoy this place. Not alot of seating so be prepared to stand when popular n well-known bands play. Not very good for kids. Adults only! Great for Sunday Fun days! 😊
Great food.Service yesterday was greatService today could NOT of been worse - extremely disappointed
