I was finishing up my math degree at a top-tier college and needed help with some of the more advanced classes. I contacted many providers and couldnt find anyone who could help with the material. Many of them wouldnt even respond. I contacted Steve at Strength in Numbers and although he couldnt give an answer directly at the time, he assured me he would check with his staff to see if anyone could handle the topic. Frankly it was reassuring to me that he didnt say yes without knowing the answer for sure - in a personal-services realm like this, some providers say yes without knowing whether they can really help you.Well, sure enough, within just a couple of days I had regular sessions set up with someone who made sure that I had the appropriate level of support for the entire rest of my degree. Steve of Strength in Numbers tutoring has taught all three of my children math. My first child is currently being evaluated for being on the spectrum. Steve has been patient with him, because although my son is generally very good with numbers, he gets extremely frustrated when he thought he was doing well and his performance wasnt up to his own expected standards. Steve handles his frustration well, provides him short breaks when needed, and has encouraged him to practice his mental math, which gives him great satisfaction.My second child is very different. She isnt as natural with math as her older brother, but she is very diligent. Steve has been very patient with her learning as well, and gives her plenty of positive reinforcement. Steve realized that mental math isnt the best way to approach things with her, so would provide more tactile and concrete activities so she could build up skill and confidence.And now, hes teaching my youngest too. I couldnt have more confidence in Steve, as hes done so well with my kids and they love him. They are performing very well academically, and I dont have to deal with math-related whining. I thoroughly recommend Steve to anyone looking for academic tutoring in the Needham area. Hes not the cheapest, but with his quality, the value is exceptional.

Ive used Steve for different areas of math, including geometry and calculus. I can confidently say that he really knows his stuff! Steve is able to communicate in a way that is easy to understand and is super helpful one on one. He works very hard to make sure I am on the same page as him before moving onto another topic or question, and is always patient. Instead of just doing the work for me, Steve walks me through problems while teaching me the core concepts so that Im learning as we go. Measurable results worth every penny! Our family has used Steve for each of our four children over many years (in person and remote). The range has been summer math bridging through middle school, high school math tests review, SAT math section test prep (one perfect score), and now remote assistance with college level math classes at three different colleges (as needed and on demand).
