Boston West saved my best friend. On a Sunday morning at 6 am they picked up my frantic call and saw my bulldog Floyd right away. I cannot say enough good about everyone that I spoke with. From the people that picked up the phone at that crazy hour, to the incredible surgeons that followed up regularly, and the nurses that cared for my baby 24 hours a day. If you have an emergency need I can assure you they should be your first choice. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me my Floyd back.
Excellent and compassionate care in emergency situations. They were so thorough and thoughtful in their care of my 10 week old puppy, who collapsed out of the blue. I honestly hope to never have to go here again but in an emergency I will definitely choose Boston West Veterinary.
They saved my dog. Doctors are very good at keeping you updated on your pets condition. Also very good at keeping you updated on how much treatment costs, and giving different options.
I love this place. They are always very friendly, thorough and communicative. I have never had a bad experience here personally. You do pay for the convenience of a 24 hour get but even that is not to bad.
My dogs limping was magically cured just by being in the parking lot outside, so I guess theyre pretty good.I mean maybe he just wanted attention and a car ride, but for now Im sticking with the hypothesis that healing radiates from the building in a characterizable diffusion gradient, restoring animals to perfect health by its mere presence.
Very nice ER. I’m from out of town and our in-town vet recommended it. Got our dog in fast and taken care of.
Not a very good experience. Looks like unnecessary tests with no outcome but money for them is their specialty. I mean two doctors couldn’t figure out what’s going with my pet. Kept him overnight and then referred to hospital in Woburn for internal medicine doctor when the doctor was not available on that day. Woburn hospital also kept him for a day without any conclusive result. I would avoid this hospital in future.
Our pet needed to have surgery on rear leg. The staff was sympathetic to our situation. We were treated with respect. The Doctor explained thoroughly which was the best course of action. Went over procedure and the process after surgery. Our Pet came out for pick-up groggy. But back to himself within a few days already have gone back for the 2 week check. All still fine spoke again with Doctor. All going as expected. The entire staff make you feel like that they are right there alongside you for the process. This is the place you need to go to for emergency or scheduled surgery and care for your pets.
My dog needed surgery to repair a torn ligament and damaged meniscus in his hind leg. The surgery team was very responsive and took good care of him. He is now fully recovered and running again. He was limping and carrying his leg 100% before surgery. Now he hardly ever carries the leg and hes jumping and running like before the injury. The only draw back is there prices. I paid close to 4k for this operation. After reviewing similar procedures some of which were on larger dogs I found that this hospital is among the highest priced. I am happy with the outcome and care. However If I had to do it again I would go to Sturbridge veterinary surgical center. They offer the same quality at much lower rates. I over paid by about $1500.00If money is of no consequence this place is great and can be trusted especially in emergencies. If you have time to look around and need a non life threatening surgery I would check out Sturbridge.
My dog spent the morning here due to ingestion of a corn cob. They neglected to tell me that they had no one in internal medicine on staff this week, even though this is an internal medicine issue, and no one to read an ultrasound. (Contrast with Angell West who for a different issue told me they didnt have a neurologist and therefore should start elsewhere so as not to duplicate expense.) Six hundred dollars later we now have to start all over somewhere else, and because its late in the day my dog may have to be admitted overnight to get an ultrasound done somewhere else. *In response to the director response below I will add that the next facilitys radiologist thought that the ultrasound was ill-advised and that it is not a good tool for imaging stomach contents and said that we should not do it, and so we didnt. (Thank you for asking about dog, she is fine at home today.)
We had a horrible experience here. We made an appointment as our puppy got bit by another dog and our vet was out of town so we had to go to the ER. When we arrived for our appointment they said they would take our dog inside with the other dogs and that the doctor would see him when they could but it could be hours. Since he was just attacked by a dog and he has anxiety I didnt think it would be a good idea to do this for his well being. So we waited with him in our air conditioned car for an hour and half until the doctor could see him. They took him in and then brought him right back to us and said the doctor would call us. Nothing else...we waited in the parking lot for another hour and 15 minutes before the doctor called us and then said they had to see him again for treatment. When the vet tech brought him back out to us they were annoyed that he was pulling and being anxious. She was snappy and pretty much over it. The place was rude, overall we were there waiting for 5 and half hours. It was unprofessional. I would NEVER take my dog here again.
Boston West saved our dogs life. She was having a life threatening emergency. We rushed her there, they took her in, and immediately preformed life saving procedures. The team that cared for her was amazing.
I am grateful for the care Satchel Page received on the day of his death.
Easy to access by phone before, during and after emergency appt for my dog. Staff was very friendly. Doctor was absolutely great!
Had a cat emergency that was taken care of immediately. Very nice front desk person, vet tech and vet. 100% satisfied.
Being a holiday my regular vet wasnt open. They really helped my dog .
We had brought our dog who could not walk to this hospital per our primary vets recommendation on a Saturday morning. They kept our dog all day and ran blood work and a joint tap to diagnose why our dog could no longer walk and had swollen joints. The vet took very little time explaining why the tests were being performed and told us we needed to pay 2000 on our credit card and they would refund us if it happened to be less. We did in hopes of finding the root of the problem. They sent us home with no answers and they told us they would call us on Tuesday at the latest with the test results. We did not hear, and called Tuesday afternoon. All this time we have a very sick dog who refused to use her front leg where the performed the joint tap. We were told the results were in however they were to busy to read the results and call us back. We were then told the overnight vet would call...they never did. On Tuesday we noticed our dog very bothered by her right ear. The ear was red and irritated. In inspecting the ear, we found that these negligent vets left a large wad of cotton jammed down her ear canal. This must have been jammed in her ear canal when they sedated her? She had no problem with her ear when she went in to this horrible place and due to their negligence she now has a severely irritated ear and still cant walk. I brought this to the vets attention when we finally got a call back after calling multiple times and she seemed to not care. I have filed a formal complaint with the state of Massachusetts. Not only did they not solve my dogs lameness, they created more issues for her. We have still not recieved the joint tap culture that we paid for and I have zero confidence that I will hear back from them. I left a message with the vet to have the office manager tish call me and of course I did not hear back from her. I would beg you not to bring the pet that you love so much to this horrible excuse for caregivers. I plan on stopping payment on credit card and I am consulting an attorney as I never heard back from them.
Boston West Veterinary provided absolutely incredible emergency care for our dog, Frank. Everyone here was kind, responsive, thoughtful and so committed to providing the best possible care. During Franks emergency stay we received frequent updates and thorough explanations of our options and his treatment. We are incredibly grateful for their efforts during a stressful time. Thank you so much!
I dont even have a pet but the landscape outside this business is very well maintained.Flowers and perfectly cut green grass
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Convenient location near the Natick Mall. Convenient early morning and evening hours, and Emergency Care as well.
We took our 6 month kitten in for getting into a plant. It was around 8 pm. While there was a large wait time, they were so helpful and other issues arose (he has always had heart issues and is facing failure) so they offered options and talked out plans to either continue with them or our home vet. They were so professional and helpful and gave out baby some love, he was so happy. Thank you all so much
I brought my cat Angel here 3 months ago due to a lump I found one morning. Due to the quick and quality care we received at Boston West they were able to determine she had a malignant tumor within one week.I was able to get her with a primary care and surgeon relatively quickly with that diagnosis and here 3 months later we are cancer free. Please do be advised you will be asked to pay up front or apply for financing. This obviously extremely stressful in an emergency so please be aware of the policy! For an emergency vet I found the costs to be reasonable. The services I was provided were only slightly more expensive than what the primary care I am now seeing charges.I am very grateful for the care I received from the team here.
Amazing Veterinarians and staff. They took such good care of our boy Hattrick and kept is updated. I couldnt have been happier and more thankful
They took great care of my dog..shes on hew way to recovery..
I have a real cause for concern with this hospital after my pet was in their care. If your animal is in duress and you are being referred here or need a hospital open 24 hours, seek another. If there are highly educated, board certified critical care specialists employed here with the skills needed to develop comprehensive diagnostic/treatment plans in urgent situations, my beloved pet did not land in the hands of one.The DVM’s that treated him didn’t bother to read labs, couldn’t explain findings when they did, guessed at potential diagnoses, were not sure what tests to order, did not report critical findings, had complete lack of compassion and failed to utilize any equipment that you would expect be available in an ER aimed at rapidly assessing an animal in grave condition. All of the above resulted in his condition worsening throughout the stay and ultimately his death.Talk of end-of-life conversation, having to make hard decisions was brought up after several hours although they had listed him as a low-risk patient upon arrival. Emergency hospitals are more expensive because you are paying for specialists, better technology etc. After my experience, I have to question, how many animals have been euthanized here who would have lived, if they had landed in the hands of experts who really cared.
Although I wasnt able to enter the facility, Im grateful to find help for my sick dog close to home.
The staff were extremely patient and kind.
Have used these services several times late at night for our cats. Vets & techs did everything possible to treat each one & were kind & compassionate when it was determined it was the end of the road for each. They allowed us privacy in a quiet room during euthanasia & let us spend as much time as we wished with pet. I cant say enough good things about these people. They sent personalized condolance notes afterwards for each cat & even notified our regular vet of each cats passing & reason to euthanize. They are our 1st choice for emergency vet services. Would give 10 stars if given choice!
As other reviewers have said, do NOT bring your animal here! While the state they are a hospital dedicated to providing compassionate medical care to dogs and cats, my experience was anything but that and trying to deal with them about THEIR mistake has been anything but pleasant and they have shown zero compassion to my dog. Appears this place is all about collecting your money and little care for your animal. This is the verbiage directly from their paperwork: Reason for the Visit: Dropped off for surgery for a ligament problem of the right knee. Diagnostic Tests and Therapy Performed: Radiographs; Supportive fluid and drug therapy; Nursing care; Pain management (including Nocita). Diagnosis at Time of Discharge: Partial tear of the right cranial cruciate ligament. Likely damage of the left cranial cruciate ligament. Overweight. As you can see, i dropped my dog off for a RIGHT and guess what leg he did the surgery on, you guessed it, the LEFT leg. Because of their mistake, I have a dog that can barely walk anymore after this surgery. Trying to get his full medical records took a while, now I see why. Contacted Tish Minium, the Boston West Hospital Manager and she was not very helpful, just had a member of the surgery team contact me and she was very argumentative, I had forgotten her name. Then they had Dr. Joel Alsup contact me and in explaining that I had dropped him off for his RIGHT, he again said all paper work showed left, which is not true as I have all the paperwork and you can see the quoted sections above that everything says RIGHT. He asked me what should be done to rectify and when I stated I dont know, I am not a vet and asked what should be done to rectify it, he said Nothing, as I did nothing wrong and basically tried to push blame to my regular vet, based on just a visual exam and they recommended me to Dr. Alsup for sedated exam/ x-rays to confirm. Dr. Alsup only did and exam and x-rays on the LEFT leg! Why only the left when their paperwork specifically states I dropped him for his RIGHT leg! Where zero compassion comes in is they basically just state that their paperwork is wrong and they went off what the notes from my vet stated which was unable to determine which leg, recommend sedated exam by specialist so they are basically blaming someone else when they did not read the vets note and just went of a note from an intake tech vet that said it could possibly be the left! So much for being a specialit if you do not read the proper Dr. notes of why the dog was referred to you on the first place. As I said, AVOID this place, especially if your vet recommends you to Dr. Alsup, run to another surgeon at another hospital that knows what they are doing and actually shows some compassion towards animals.UPDATE: Based on the owners response, yes I did speak with someone there and it just confirmed that they operated on the wrong knee of my dog and they have come up with every excuse to try and justify it. So it basically come down to Dr. Alsup took the notes of a front desk attendant instead of the notes of a veterinarian and did not do what he had said he was going to do before the surgery. My opinion is he should not be allowed near another dog. Weird thing is that everyone I spoke to did not seem to care that my dog is 1000% worse post surgery, they just seem to care about covering their butts instead of showing some empathy or rectifying their mistake for a dog their hospital made worse.
Do not go here. They overcharge and will call the cops on your if you refuse their outrageously expensive care.
We have always received exceptional care here. Whether it be surgery for one pet or having to say goodbye to our other beloved pet we were treated with kindness and empathy. Highly recommend. We feel so lucky to live so close to Boston West!
Our experience with a 17 years old cat was not too good.
I brought my dog Apollo to Boston West for his TPLO surgery a few months ago. Dr. Alsup & Veterinary Technician Joelle were amazing. I got frequent updates on his status throughout his time at the hospital.(Unfortunately) A few days ago I had to bring my cat Sabrina in on an emergency basis. She ended up being very sick. The staff went above and beyond to address my concerns, answer any questions I had and give her the love and care she needed during her final hours. I will be forever grateful that such a strong, dedicated team has been able to help my pets. Thank you Boston West staff for all you do. 🐱🐶
DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE.This was my second time here. First time I brought my pet here was in 2019 in critical condition. The first communication I had was with a physician who gave me an A, B or C option. Option A, a quote for a one night admit, Option B two night or Option C three nights. I told her, let’s start with costs for the diagnostic tests recommended and aimed at finding a diagnosis and go from there. I interacted with multiple doctors over a 24- hour period, one callously stating over the phone, I should prepare for the end-of-life discussion. Only one doctor who was brilliant and compassionate had answers for me and because of him and him alone, I took my animal home who was fine up until one week ago. That doctor no longer works there.Last Friday I brought my cat here due to fever, vomiting, no appetite. I had blood work from my Vet. A physical exam from the doctor was done-she noted mild dehydration & fever. S called to discuss treatment plan at which time she suggested a FUO Test (Fever of unknown origin test). I told her I thought a FUO was when a fever lasts for more than 3 weeks, doesn’t respond to antibiotics and initial diagnostic tests cannot find anything. I asked the cost of the test-she said $400.00-$500.00. I asked if this test has produced useful information in the past. She said, very rarely. I asked about a result on the Blood test from my Vet, in particular a type of white blood cell found and its significance. She told me she is not a “Medicine Internist” [Internist recognize symptoms of diseases and know what tests will give definitive diagnoses]. At this time the conversation was getting tense, so in attempt to lighten it up, I brought up her old colleague and how much I loved that doctor, to which she responded, “you know he is gay.” WOW!!!With no alternative, I admitted the cat at 9:56 a.m. He was documented as a “Low Risk Patient.” Upon admission he had normal heart rate, respiratory rate, ambulatory x 4, no lameness, mentally appropriate. An abdominal ultrasound was done at 3:03 p.m. Urine was taken for analysis. I got a call at 5:40 p.m. I was told there were no significant findings on the ultrasound to explain signs- just some Effusion (FLUID) in his abdomen. I was told a Tick Born Virus was possible even in indoor cats and I was reminded if he stays, I will be going over my 12-hour estimate. At 5:45 p.m. he had a FEVER HIGHER THAN WHEN ADMITTED, when his pain medicine was held because he had just received his FIRST dose of antibiotic at which point his fever started to decline. At 7:16 p.m. the overnight doctor documented Abnormal Grade III/VI right parasternal systolic heart murmur, rapid breathing, spinal pain, hopping in limbs-he was given Methadone [I only know this from reading his record after the fact). At 7:40 a.m. a doctor called and told me he had spinal pain overnight and recommended I get a Neurology consult, mentioned tick born viruses and Fever of unknown origin. Given this feedback and the complete lack of compassion, I discharged him around 11 a.m. (Cost-$2100). When the narcotics wore off, he started breathing heavy. I called Boston West, requested a doctor. When someone finally picked up and I started asking questions, she responded “I don’t know the answer to that.” To which I said, “you are an ER doctor and don’t know.” She said I am just a technician. I said get a doctor on the phone. I ended up hanging up and brought him to Tufts ER where within minutes upon arrival the ER doctor did a TFAST Scan (an abdominal, thoracic ultrasound) that focuses on identifying the presence of FLUID within spaces of the peritoneal (abdomen), pleural (lung) and pericardial (heart). He was immediately given Lasix. His heart/kidneys/respiratory were compromised and given his level of suffering, he was euthanized-he was 6. Such un-empathic, callous individuals who do not appear to have the expertise you would expect from a care team in an Emergency Hospital.
Grat service and care
Brought our cat here after finding her in distress and were given a poor prognosis. We decided to euthanize. When the time came to actually put her to sleep the doctor did not ask if my mom wanted to be there or if she wanted her cat to be euthanized in the back, she did not go over the process at all, so we had no warning as to what would happen- no warning that she would give out one last meow and shudder because she was confused and didn’t know what was going on (she was not sedated at the time she was euthanized and was fully awake and alert), no warning that bloody fluid would start leaking from her mouth because she was in heart failure- both very traumatic things to witness if you were no forewarned about them. The doctor was distant, un empathetic, and unprofessional. If you want any sort of peace of mind when dealing with a devastating situation, do not bring your pets here
Pay first or pet die part 2 did i mention that i beg for help and my dog die on my wAy home? The Dr knew but like i said no money no help... hearless and social media are getting ready to know the true... just one shot was need it to safe her life and your Dr just offer 3 choice pay the money, give the dog away or put it down. Then asked to aly for a loan,,, heartless
You need to pay up front to get service, but they helped me
This is such a great group of people! I had to bring my dog yesterday for some GI issues and they took such great care of him. The team seems really well organized and had great protocols in place with everything going on in the world right now. It was a little scary for my dog to see someone with a mask, but they were so calm and patient with him; I think he has some new forever friends with team members.Thank you for taking such good care of us!
Money first pet second ... they offer 2 choices pay or put it down... abusive
DONT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE! Their pay of front policy before they give medical care wastes valuable time in an emergency situation. I brought my cat here because she had kidney failure because she was suspected of digesting a toxin. I authorized $1000.00 from my credit card to begin an ultrasound of her kidneys and have an IV to alleviate her failing kidneys and an observation overnight to see what was happening to my cats kidneys. She was admitted at 10 in the morning. The Doctor kept calling me asking for more money and suddenly the bill was up around $4000.00. The Doctor refused to give any further treatment other then the $467.00 ultrasound and the $150.00 office visit. Do the math, $383.00 was left from the original $1000.00 that I authorized so there was definitely enough money to begin an IV to stabilize her and her kidneys and bring the values down. By 1:00 I called in to the Doctor and asked what the status was and they still had not put an IV in. At that point I pulled my animal out of there and rushed her to Tufts. The kidney values were 107 !!!! normal values are 30. Tufts immediately started my cat on IVs which helped stabilize her BRING HER NUMBERS DOWN. When a patient comes into the ER the first protocol is STABILIZE THE PATIENT BY GIVING THEM FLUIDS ESPECIALLY FOR A PATIENT WHO IS SUSPECTED OF DIGESTING A TOXIN and is in Kidney failure and not squabbling over the bill!!!! You were asked to pay for each new step instead of focusing on he health of the pet. You should only be a clinic and not a 24 ER.
I came here at 330am for my dog. I cannot say enough about the quality and compassionate care given especially by the vet Dr Yip.She spent a long time discussing her assessment and recommendations with me. Words cannot express my gratitude for her understanding both medically and empathically.
My dog had ear infection. I took him there as an emergency and spent $350 to get antibiotics. He continues to have ear problems, so I ask the hospital to refill his antibiotics. They told me no and ask me to contact my dogs regular vet.
Our dog had an emergency at midnight during the pandemic so we rushed her there . They were friendly and very helpful. We called them on the way and while waiting outside and everyone we spoke with was friendly, respectful and calm. The emergency fee was very affordable . We are very thankful to have them nearby. Thank you!!
Boston West is what TLC is all about, We brought our 10 month old kitten in as an emergency. We knew something was amiss with our Dandelion, the results shocked and stunned us. But they made her comfortable, we took her home to love her one more day. And brought her back the following day we sent her to Rainbow Bridge with all our love, along with Every Bunny loves you toy (her favorite since we adopted her at 8 weeks old). With our hearts heavy and broken, they made it as easy as they possibly could. And we would be forever grateful!
I came here after my extremely sick puppy was refused at Tufts. We rushed over to Natick since it was the next closest location. They saved my puppies life doing everything they could for 3 days. He came back healthy energetic and like a new puppy after 3 days in intensive care. We were given all the meds and food we needed for the next 10 days and after following all instructions hes acting as if nothing happened. Saving my puppies life was priceless but obviously in these times money is a concern for most of us. I have to say for 3 and a half days of care, extensive testing and meds the cost was extremely reasonable. I hope to never come back here again but if I ever have another emergency I will be coming back to Boston West.
In the midst of the recent pandemic, our 12 1/2 year old dog, unfortunately, was biten by another dog. We were referred to Boston West by our local vet. They were wonderful treating our dog. Everyone we spoke with was kind and helpful. Our dog is doing well, so, many thanks to everyone at Boston West!! Great job!
We brought our senior cat here on a Sunday afternoon, they werent able to help her but the worst part is they refused to give us any info. They refused to give us the basic info to try to make an informed decision, not one bit of advice, not even a kind word.Despicable. zero compassion.
My cat swallowed a ribbon from a balloon. The doctors got it out of her system successfully. Thank you so much for saving my cat! You guys are awesome!
I recently had to put my cat to sleep unexpectedly and emergently. All the staff at Boston West were excellent. They took him in right away, gave him pain medicine, and explained what was happening. It was a shock to loose him so quickly but Im glad he got excellent end of life care.
I brought our Cat to this facility twice, both times they got me in right away, they treated us like family, they treated our pet with loving care. They explained everything to us both times they found out what the issue was the first time and treated it and our Cat rebounded big time. Unfortunately this time was an emergency visit but we were still treated like family, from the receptionist, the techs and the doctor they loved our cat like their own, everything was explained to us fully, they gave us all the time we needed when it was decided we had to put her down. The facility and staff were just outstanding, caring and loving. Highly recommend this facility for your pets.Hi i left this review after we had to put down our cat LillyAnn. It still hurts today but the feelings that i put down in this review were even more enhance when we received not only a card from the owner but from the staff. The doctor took the time out to send a note all the staff signed the card and left notes. The owners also made a donation in our cats name. If this place is close to you please use it. I can only give it a 5 Star rating but it is so much more than that. Should we decide to venture out and get another pet or two. This is my place of choice for them to be treated.
This an unbelievably wonderful pet hospital. The people are amazingly caring and considerate. My dog was very sick. The vet techs laid out 4 layers of comforters and brought cute stuffed animals for comfort.Dont believe some of the complaints in these reviews about sneaky and high pricing. First of all Emergency services are expensive. Second, the doctors explained every and all testing and treatment options exhaustively as well as the cost implications of each including the option of doing nothing. I asked a ton of questions and they patiently answered everyone, sometimes twice.I will always return in case of emergency.Maria
It’s so difficult to tap Five Stars because I came here on a Sunday night to have my beautiful cat put down. However as as horrible as this was, I am so glad that I chose this Hospital♥️The staff were supportive and kind and quiet. We were brought into a small private room with carpet and sofas and chairs and plenty of tissue boxes. We were given as much time as we needed with our pet and the wonderful Vet came in and was literally radiating love and kindness. My cat passed in my arms and truly I couldn’t ask for a more gentle and loving ending.Three days later my family received a sympathy card from the vets. Three of them wrote in it and I’m not talking about a signature and a sorry, it was beautiful lovely true kind words that made my family feel like they truly cared. So yes, five stars ⭐️
I had to bring my cat in at 2 am for a physical injury. I was in a rough place and having a difficult time forming thoughts. The staff I interacted with were extremely friendly and calm and took wonderful care of my ham child!
My Chocolate Lab is 14 yrs old. Last spring she would go into occasional convulsions because she could not breath. My vet referred her to IVG. I was preparing myself to say goodbye. I was amazed that this facility has every type of specialist for animals that I would find in a hospital for humans.. surgeon, orthopedist, anesthesiologist, internist... They recommended a corrective surgery to consider. The care was incredible, I could call to check on her 24/7. My chocolate lab is now 14 and walking the trails with me daily and I couldnt be happier with the surgery and care. I think IVG is amazing.
We had such a great service in this place, after the amazing service they keep calling me just to make sure if my little puppy is all right, in those little things that we can really see that you guys take good care of your costumer ! Thank you very much blue is getting better !
Truly a great experience. We went in late Sunday/Early Monday for an issue with our dog. Our dog is not a huge fan of the vet but the nurse and dr all took the time to make her comfy. They did a great job explaining to us what was going on and keeping us updated. The cost was incredibly reasonable for an emergency visit, sedation, and medication. If we ever have an emergency with the dog we will definitely be going here again.
They took great care of my cat who had an infected abscess on his face. Prices werent bad and the staff was super friendly.
Everyone there was very nice. We took our dog there after she suffered what we though was a simple seizure. After checking her in overnight they ran some tests and found out that she had cancer and actually suffered a stroke. They gave us options that unfortunately were not the best but we knew what we had to do. We brought our dog back a day later to get her put down and the staff was amazingly caring for all of us. It was a sad day for our small family but they had great post life options and even sent a sympathy card after the fact. Very nice people and knowledgeable vet techs and doctors.
An incredible and wonderfully caring staff at every level - the emergency care staff (late at night) all the way through to the weekends. Our lab was 12+ years old and faced complications due to an onset of cancer and complications therein. We did all that we could to make him comfortable and happy the last four weeks, whilst we gave him care at home with direction from our new, IVG MetroWest friends. End of life care is never easy, but we were lucky to have an extra month to say goodbye, cook lots of great meals, and take walks together along his favorite spots around the lake. Thank you all for your help, caring, and love! Our Reilly is in doggie heaven and being able to have him cared for with such love until the end was important to us all. THANK YOU!
I cant even begin to tell mine and Micks story of last month. He suddenly started bleeding out, rapidly and would never have made it to Tufts or Angel. These veterinarians saved my dog Micks life and I am so very grateful! Hes a ten year old Chihuahua and they did everything quickly and efficiently from oxygen crib to blood transfusion and every test possible to discover what was wrong. They saved my little Micks life. The entire staff was wonderful and I felt like I was in a human emergency hospital by the professional care I witnessed! Finally an emergency hospital in our area! They get an A+ from us with much gratitude. Again, thanks to the whole team for saving our little Mick!
I do not recommend this place. Ive been there twice. Both times, Ive suspected that many of the tests were done primarily to increase the charges. The last time, they estimated that the costs would be more than $2300 for a cat with a UTI. I told them not to do several tests- like X-rays - that seemed ridiculous, and got the price down to $1300. The medical care was fine and the staff is kind, but the focus is definately on increasing charges. My regular vet did exactly the same stuff (without the tests) for the cost of a regular office visit.
Excellent staff & very positive. Pleased with how my cat was taken care of thank you so much and will be coming back!
I had an emergency with my cat and from the initial phone call until after the treatment, the staff was pleasant and professional. The vet was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything that was done and what I needed to do at home. Great experience.
I am very grateful that we have this open 24-hours, 365 days-a-year emergency care pet facility available in Metro West. The staff and doctors are very skilled, and very caring.
I brought my 10 week old puppy here and the experience could not have been better. Its a clean, calming environment with a wonderful professional staff.
I have a American Bully named Minnie she was in need of an emergency c section...I brought my baby here and Im can say Im highly dissatisfied with how this hospital operates...the young lady at the front desk was amazing she is the one that tried to help me find somewhere that would help me with my baby as she need a c section and the doctor at night wanted so badly to help my but couldnt because I didnt have 3000$ to pay upfront for the surgery. He did call the following day to see if I did find help. But my problem is my baby girl could be sitting here with atleast one of her two pups alive if they would have just done the surgery in the first place I had already paid 508$ upfront just for blood work and x raya and 147$ of that is just walking in the door. I had to pay before they even touched my dog....Im only giving the one star because the lady at the front desk and the doctor really was nice and tried to help me but their hands was tied because of the hospital policy for payment upfront....LIKE HELLO YOU ARE AN EMERGENCY ROOM FOR A REASON YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO BE THERE FOR WHEN PEOPLE HAVE EMERGENCIES WITH THEIR FUR BABIES...YOU HONESTLY THINK PEOPLE WALK AROUND WITH OVER 3000$ IN THEIR POCKET...mind you I had most of the money just didnt have the last 500$ of the 3000$ but they couldnt help at all...I blame them for the lose of my puppies...I will never ever take my girl back here no matter what!!!
Our dog came to the ER with a case of poisoning and having been to other local vet ERs in our years of having pets. this was a much more positive experience than weve had at the other vet ERs. Everyone was helpful, kind, and dealt with me as a human concerned about their animal. The vets and the vet techs were all outstanding in their humanity and in their willingness to answer questions and offer reassurance. Dr. Sakakeeny was outstanding in her checkins each day for working with my concerns and explaining the factors needed for our dog to stabilize for going home. Not once did I feel rushed when talking with the staff either on the phone or when visiting our dog at the hospital. SO much better of an experience than Ive ever had at the other ER vets and now our go-to ER as Ive told our vet and anyone Ive shared my experience with. Thank you for your stellar work in not only getting our dog home again, but in making his human feel supported and cared for as well.
A few weeks ago my dog Ruby (german shorthaired pointer) was dehydrated and not eating. I was going to wait til the next morning to take her to my veterinarian. Fortunately my other dog Mia sensed Ruby was really sick and alerted me. I called Boston West Veterinary at 10:00 PM and they told me to bring my dog in. What a great facility, clean and easily located. The staff was excellent. Runy was diagnosed with Addisons disease. They saved her life. They kept her 2 days. I would get 2 or more updates each day. Thanks to Dr. Agnello and Dr. Sakakeeny and the rest of the staff.
Great staff and awesome care! Ive been here many times and they always do a fantastic job.
The best for your pet, my sophie was well care, awesome staff, thank you.
My poor 14 year old had been treated at another hospital for her eye issues. Unfortunately she developed acute glaucoma and needed to be seen immediately. The ophthalmologist she was going to happen to be out of the country, of course I know perfect timing on my dog’s part. 🤦🏼♀️I called two other hospitals, one has still yet to call me back, the other was booked for two weeks. Boston West was my third phone call(only because it was furthest from my house) and they were able to schedule me for an appointment right away with Dr. Grevais. She is fabulous even with my old cranky lady. The doctor was able to treat her issue with meds and fingers crossed we won’t need the surgery. She is worth the drive even from the south shore.
We had very bad experience with this company. Two our kittens are dead. One was just two weeks old, but doctors didnt tell us upfront that theres no hope at all, they charged us for useless medications instead. Another kitten had surgery that was successful, but he died due to lack of post-operative care which should be in place 24/7. Nonetheless they charged us a lot of money, and they are doing the same with other people (see testimonials on Yelp). They delete negative testimonials from their website, so these people lie to their customers trying to cover their faults. Their only interest is money, in reality they have no compassion to helpless animals and their owners. Please, stay away from them.
We spent almost 4 hours there due to other more pressing cases taking priority. I totally understand that they are more pressing, but we were unable to just go home because we were checked in and would be charged for just walking through the door. It was a complete waste of money and a terrible night for the whole family. The staff is very nice but I would have liked to just go home and keep my money and see my normal vet the next day since my dog started improving in his own. By the time we were seen, he was ok enough that we could have waited till the morning. I am pregnant and hadnt eaten dinner. We were not given a timeframe of when we would be seen so we assumed it would be any minute. Hours passed and the vending machine was almost empty and it nearly caused me to have my own medical emergency because I hadnt eaten real food in over 12 hours. It was a very frustrating experience and I hope I never have to go here again.
If I could give this place a zero, I would. My dog was not feeling well and my regular vet ran a blood screen and found he had high WBC and Liver counts. She suggested he get an ultrasound to see what was going on. Unfortunately, I could not get into Tufts quickly so she called IVG and they said they could fit me in for an Ultrasound only on a Saturday AM. I make the appt w IVG and specifically state I am coming in for an ultrasound only. I arrive at the appt and of course they screwed it up and had me in for an appt w Internal Med. Due to their screw up the Dr said he would do the ultrasound. He came back and said that my dog has a baseball size mass on his liver. Devastated..... long story short. I got an appt at Tufts and what do you know..... NO MASS....... Not only does your customer service need training, clearly your Drs do as well. Idiots! Its no wonder I was told, Only allow the ultrasound. Absolutely no treatment. They have the worst rep. NO Kidding!!
My sweet baby, Miss Lola, was brought here for emergency treatment after her blood work came back high for liver failure. The first vet I worked with took the time to listen to me first, brought back an ideal treatment plan, and gave me all my options. They were honest and didn’t try to charge me for things that weren’t needed. She was there for 2 nights. During this time, I was able to visit her, feed her, and bring her her favorite baby. At this point, I was working specifically with Dr, Fiocchi. I was able to pick her up on Thanksgiving Day. They went over all medications with me thoroughly and encouraged me to call anytime I needed anything at all. After returning the next week to see how things were going, her 2nd blood test determined she was getting worse, not better, despite the medication. I was given the option to have more tests or to try steroids to see how she would respond (she wasn’t eating consistently which was a major concern.)The steroids only worked temporarily. She sadly went downhill pretty quickly and was laid to rest yesterday afternoon.Dr. Fiocchi was by my side every step of the way. I felt she was honest, caring, and did the best she could for my baby. I didn’t want anyone else to see her because of how wonderful she was with us. She provided comfort that we were doing what was best for Lola and even witnessed as I snotted all over her while Lola was being sleep - handing me a tissue.I would tell anyone to take their baby here. No matter where you go, you’re going to spend money on major medical issues with your pet. I would recommend bringing your pet here. Also, I would like to send out love to Colleen, one of the receptionist there, who also went out of her way to take care of us during this sad, sad time.Thank you for everything, Boston West.
Went in the evening on Easter Sunday for a dog bite. Dr. Kaluba was great and Jocelyn was super helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks yall.
Couldnt ask for better. The staff, vet techs and the veteranian herself were kind and caring. I thought I was there for my male cats end of life visit and Jack (my cat) is now home again. Jack is of indetermanate age but I know he is old and he and I will spend the rest of his days as if each is his last, Kevin.
Terrible experience. My dying cat had $1500 of asthma treatment and he was sent home in the same condition to prolong his suffering. He was traumatized in the oxygen tank with noisy dogs and when I asked If they should sedate him they said no. I had to call a wonderful vet in Natick to put him to sleep at home. Two days later. I would never never return. I felt scammed and infuriated that they charged all this money for my 14 year old boy. The vet who came to the house said he had heart issues - no question. Beware!
My husband and I had to take our 10 yo cat George to IVG over the weekend for an ongoing IBS problem. We were referred to by our Vet at Post Road Veterinarian Hospital in Charlton after severals tries to get him to move his bowels. His situation was becoming increasingly dangerous to the point that it would have effected his heart and other organs. He was cared for by several doctors and staff members. I can only remember one doctors name and she is Dr Silk. Who is a specialist in this type of problem. After trying a new protocol using Golytley, a product that is used for patients having colonoscopies. It worked somewhat but not the way they had hoped so he had to be put under and have the stool removed manually. She was successful thank the good Lord. They saved him from having to be operated on which was something we could not have afforded. And we feared the worst was to come. We are so grateful for everyone at IVG who helped George who is now home with his brother and sister, resting comfortably and quietly. We cant thank everyone enough for taking such good care of our George. He is a very special cat to us and to many others. Everyone who meets him, falls in love with him. He is our gentle giant with the best personality you could as for in a pet. Everyone there was so helpful and sympathetic as well as empathetic. They explained everyone that needed to be done and what will need to be done in the future. I would recommend IVG to anyone who needs a great place to take their pets for high quality care. Thank you again IVG for saving George. We are so relieved and so happy. Thank you.Sincerely,Debbie and Scott Surprenant and of course Georgie
IVG Metrowest has the most caring professionals in the industry! My 7 yrs old Shih Tzu just had her eye removed due to glaucoma. I cant thank Dr. Cassotis, Jennifer, Ellen and the rest of the team who have shown great compassion thru this experience. I wouldnt go anywhere else for ER or speciality care!
Terrible experience..
Should have this place bookmarked if you have a pet. Only ER in the area.Have had a bad experience with a pet dying here and all they wanted was our money first before they would key us see our decreased dog, but other than that they took good care of my other dog.
Came in today with Grandmothers sick cat Its with them now I Came in a emotional wreck Im glad to say that Im OK due to the nice stuff one took the cat and 1 took me Im doing good hopefully the cat does to
It was the worst experience in my life ever, all I needed was an x-ray to see if my dog have anything Stuck in is stomach, instead they gave my dog a medication that was not even FDA approved and was trying to do exams on my dog that he didn’t even need it so they could charge me for it, when I asked the doctor about the medication that was not FDA approved because I Google it and find out the issue with my dog on second visit was the side effects of the medication her answer about the not FDA approved medication was she doesn’t work for the Government.
