Bret and team at German Motorworks have been wonderful! I just bought a car two weeks ago and living near a construction site, have already ended up with two nails in my tires. Each time this happened, they were able to replace the tire within a couple hours and get me back on the road right away!They also take the time to answer any questions I have about car care, which I especially appreciate. I’ve watched these guys grow over the years now into their new facility which is substantially larger than their original location. They’re a good honest small business, not cheap at $145 /hr service rates but fair. They service all the high-end car brands and worked on our Aston Martin Vanquish today. They provide a great dealer alternative and I recommend you contact them for a quote for your premium vehicle needs.

BACKGROUND:I’ve exclusively had my aging car serviced at BMW of Nashville on Thompson for the past 5 years because 1) my advisor, who no longer works there, was fantastic 2) the work was good and 3) I didn’t realize the hefty premium I was paying for work that could have been done elsewhere. After being quoted an outrageous price by a new advisor at BMW of Nashville for a somewhat lengthy and critical repair, I felt like my head was spinning with inconsequential details, I decided to take my business elsewhere...REVIEW for German Motorworks:I did quite a bit of research on repair shops that work on BMWs and I ultimately called German Motorworks based on unanimous positive feedback...I spoke with Bret and for once in my 15 years of getting cars repaired, I felt like I wasn’t speaking to a used car salesman. He’s truly passionate about his profession, has a long history with BMWs (used to be a mechanic at BMW of Nashville!) and took the time to explain what really needed to be fixed, several different repair scenarios, what could wait to be fixed, etc etc. He also quoted me significantly less than the dealership. Why wouldn’t I have my car repaired here?! I brought my car in to be repaired and it was ready as promised...3 months later, my car still drives like a dream. I had a recall part pop up and they even dropped it off at BMW for me after the service at GMW was completed, and brought my car back to their HQ once it was done. Excellent experience. They did a great job on my BMW suspension as well as did it quickly. They took the time to let me know about other issues I needed to address that the car lot DIDNT address. This was my first time using these guys and I will definitely be coming here from now on for anything needed on my BMW.

I had my M235i serviced (brake and coolant flush) here (at the new location). They got my car in and out really quickly. I feel like they did it for an agreeable price. Ill be going back from now on for repairs and maintenance items I feel are over my head. They followed up with a text a day later confirming everything was good. I love that. Great shop.

Took my 2006 750li in for a transmission fault issue and these guys diagnosed and fixed it. Drives so much better now. Bret was open, honest and answered all of my questions even backed up all the research i did. They even fixed some things at no charge that i mentioned but wasnt necessary. The best shop in Nashville! They have worked on my BMW M2 multiple times now for suspension work and tuning, and they have been great. Its hard to find other people who are as obsessed about perfection as I am, but they are! Great people, great shop, and great prices. I trust Brett and the other guys with anything on my car. Great experience

The turnaround time on my repairs was quicker than I expected, and the owner Brett was very communicative throughout the whole process. Pricing was fair and honest, and my car is now running great. I can tell this is an experienced and trustworthy crew. I drive a 2009 BMW, but they had everything from newer Ferraris and older BMWs on the lot. Im sure they can take care of you no matter what youre driving.

Brent and Jonathan both do an excellent job in diagnosing and repairs. I have yet to go back for an issue I was having problems with or had any problems with parts or labor being more than what was quoted. Much more reasonable costs than the dealer.

I had an idle issue on start ups on my BMW that I couldnt figure out. So, I called German Motorworks and they were able to get me in the same day. They diagnosed and fixed the issue. I would recommend these guys to any BMW owners, thanks Jonathan.

Excellent service with a willingness to talk through what maintenance needs to be done versus what can wait. They even got my car to the dealership while I was on vacation to perform a service covered under the manufacturers warranty.

I like their work. They are very responsive, they know what they are talking about and they get the work done. Unlike the local dealership, they dont have service writers who tell you that you need a new engine because of a low compression test on one cylinder without any other testing! If the dealer had be thorough they would have found that low compression was caused by a faulty injector. These guys are better, hands down.

Ive used German Motorworks for performance modifications to my BMW and have been very pleased with the results. Went in with my 1991 944 on July 5th explaining reasons as to why I thought it needed a new AC compressor and Brett ended up replacing anything but the AC compressor claiming he wanted to try fixing other small cost items first. Guess what, a month later in the end they found it needed a new AC compressor. AC compressors are $300-$400 for 944’s, not that much....If you don’t mind giving this shop your car for the summer, having no responses to your phone calls or texts regarding status, waste money on everything but the actual problem, and ignore your initial concerns by all means take it to German Motorworks. I wouldn’t hire them to install wiper blades. No excuses for stuff like this.

Excellent Customer Service & Mechanical Repair- On my way home to Virginia, after a two week road trip, I had problems with my X5 air suspension while in Nashville, TN. Bret and the team at German Motorworks are first class. I recently needed serious repair for my 535 Xdrive. On the recommendation of a stranger, I gave them a call and had my car towed to them. Not only were they able to properly diagnosed the problem, they also repaired it for significantly less than the original “certified” shop I was dealing with estimated.

I took my car here for the first time after being referred and I will never use another mechanic shop other than German Motorworks. Very fair, honest and tons of integrity. I gladly drive an hour and a half to get my car serviced by German Motorworks. After diagnosing my car, it was fixed in a very reasonable amount of time and even diagnosed another issue while they were fixing the other, upon my request. After using a company that kept ‘finding’ things wrong after I’d pick my car up, I was ready to throw in the towel with the cost of BMW repairs. German Motorworks reminded me that honest mechanics still exist, and aren’t out for themselves. I will refer anyone I know with a foreign vehicle to them. Top notch service.

These guys are awesome! Service is honest and reliable. Almost always save a significant amount over the dealership. You can tell theres actually a passion for the work here, which IMO sets the standard for the way a shop should run. If I was located anywhere in the region with any of my exotics needing work, I would drive or have my car towed(if needed) all the way here!!!

Had some work done on my X3M40i. They did good job, quick, professional, fair.

Called for quote on an oil change for a 2011 Audi A5 today, quote was $157. That is as much as the dealership. My regular shop relocated from Nashville to Franklin, which is a pain. Apparently, its worth the drive, they change the oil for $75. They both use the best products and Ive been using them since 2011. Be smart, shop around.The audi dealer also offers a deal for $69, I found a replacement shop in town right up the street, experience and service has been great. Unfortunate that a business would respond slamming another as if the price of their oil change was the reason for their closing. Uninformed and defensive.

I recently had a SMG to Manual conversion done on my E46 M3. The SMG pump failed in my car and was faced with the decision to replace the pump or upgrade. The work German Motor-works did was fantastic. The transmission feels brand new and it has been a fantastic upgrade! Brett was awesome to work with and I would recommend them to anyone who needs work on their vehicle.

Bret and the guys have always taken care of me and my 335i. They have installed new turbos, injectors and frount end parts. Couldn’t be happier. I would highly recommend German Motorworks to anyone with a foreign car.

Took my car in for a tire pressure malfunction light . Spoke with Bret the co-owner and he told me it would cost $109. Told him it was the right rear per the BMW dealership. When I got there I think it was the other owner that I spoke with who was not very friendly and he said it would be $145 I told him Bret had quoted me $109. He said well Im telling you its $145. I said ok since it was a lot less than what the dealership was going to charge me. A few minutes later he came back and told me a module was bad and it was going to cost me over $800 to repair. He said that sometimes happens when you hook a diagnostic machine to it. I told him that I was not paying him $800 for something that was working when I dropped my car off and to just give me my keys back. Went out and got into my car and the windows would not roll down turn signals would not work all the lights were on and wouldnt turn off and the open door light was on. Took it to the dealership because I did not trust these people. Cost me over $1300 to get this repaired. This is the short version.

I am from Canada, and I was about to travel to Nashville to buy a 2014 BMW X5. I called Brett to schedule a pre-purchase inspection on day that I was supposed to travel to Nasville, however Brett suggested that I do the inspection before even booking my flight, a suggestion that I accepted. To make the story short the car was dropped at his shop, he did a thorough inspection and found several problems with the car. So I ended up cancelling the car purchase. Thanks Brett for your dedication and good work. 5 stars is not enough, your work deserve one billion stars.

I love that they don’t take advantage over the fact I’m a 20 year old girl. There’s no “you need x,y,z, or else you’re gonna break down on the side of the road.” (I’ve had my dealership try and scare me that way.) All the guys are really nice, and are very honest about what I should get fixed vs. what I need to get fixed. So glad they were recommended to me, I’ve been coming back for around two years now.
