We had a great morning on the river with the kids and will do it again in the future. It was more crowded on the water than we expected but the Naperville Kayak staff were all friendly and welcoming. Im so glad we noticed them at Knoch Knolls and thought to follow up with a trip of our own. Its not what I would call an adventure but it was a relaxing two hours out on the water for what felt like a well-run trip.

Wonderful 2 hour kayak trip. Had to avoid some rocks, snags and sand bars, but not too hard. Lots of wildlife and more interesting scenery than expected. Luxury service. All required gear provided, they put the kayaks in and out, so you just step in to the boat and and they helped you out. Recommended.

Not thrilled with how Naperville Kayak takes over the entire area of each drop in/pull out so there isnt space for people who own their own kayaks to get in and out of the river. Please keep part of those areas open for others - we have had our kayaks before Naperville Kayak took to the river and now its an inconvenience to have to squeeze between employees and empty kayaks waiting to be taken out.

My wife and I had a fun and relaxing time, kayaking in the DuPage River, through Naperville Kayak. We got to experience some wonderful and scenic views of the DuPage wildlife, on our trip! Naperville Kayak is an outstanding Kayaking and Paddle Boarding outfit, led by Tom. Tom and his crew are very professional, helpful, friendly and laidback to boot. Tom was very accommodating with our schedule. We had to reschedule our trip at the last hour, and he facilitated. Plus, Tom is very patient and accountable. My wife and I are avid kayakers, and we have rented from several Kayaking outfits in the country. Without any hesitation, we will recommend Naperville Kayak to anyone interested in kayaking and loves nature! Semper Fi.

Great time! Well worth the $45 we paid. We were 20 minutes late showing up to our reservation and they still accommodated us. We were not sure if we were in the right spot at first, a sign or two would be nice. The river was a little low in some spots but not too bad. I would definitely do it again

The kayaking was nice. However, organization was weak at the starting point (no signage in the parking lot) and the option to use our own cars wasnt given online. That would have been nice to have as a small discount and to not be exposed to a bunch of strangers in the van ride to the start. Social distancing in addition to the mask requirement would have been appreciated.

What a great experience on a hot summer day. Pretty simple from the online scheduling and payment to meeting up at the registration location on Book Rd. Paddle boards were fantastic and it was a nice casual paddle down the DuPage River. Dont be fooled, you WILL get a workout in but the nature and serenity you get to experience is well worth it. Looking forward to the next adventure with Naperville Kayak (and Paddle-boards).

I’m my opinion not worth the money. Staff around check in seemed pretty rude. Did not seem like they wanted to work. Wrong address is on the website. Had to drive farther. At the time of being in the water kept getting stuck on so many rocks hard for it to move. Not enough water to actually “kayak” wouldn’t come back.

Disappointed that rentals are restricted to a fixed location and employees are unwilling to work with highly trustworthy customers (i.e. active military service members) for a brief exception to policy in support of our participation in a local adventure race. I have to believe your business model works even though it should be raining Saturday and some boats will sit on shore all day long.

My family went therefour the first time. Were not from the area so we had a hard time of how to get there once we reach the general area. But over all the hour long paddle boarding was great, we had fun. My son wish the water is good for swimming, unfortunately its not the case. I would recommend it for an hour fun in the quarry.

I took my kids for a lesson on stand up paddle boards. I should have just rented the boards instead of paying more for a lesson because we got almost no instruction. My youngest is 9 and the staff was not helping him when he could have used it or even watching very closely. I had to ask them to help him get off his board at the end of the hour. The helmets and life vests were sort of self service - it wouldve been nice if the person checking us in helped us find the right size. The boards and equipment were in very good shape and we had fun, but the value for my money was not there thanks to lack of service.

Great Experience. I cannot believe we waited this long to try Naperville Kayak. We used a GroupOn to do a tandem river tour. You can do your own kayak but we enjoyed the tandem one. We left from Knoch Knolls park and traveled down the Dupage river exiting in Plainfield at Riverview Farmstead Preserve. Neither of us are experienced Kayakers but we were given a quick tutorial and helped into our Kayak. There is no time limit and most people take 90 minutes we took two hours because we explored every nook and cranny. The water was only 1-2 feet most of the trip We floated downstream with little effort until the end when winds meant we had to do a little paddling. We were able to see wildlife and a side of Naperville we had not experienced. The instructors at the beginning and staff at the end were friendly and helpful. This is a great experience for couples, families and groups of friends! highly recommend it! Also booking is so easy via their website.

Kayaking down the river was fun, but once off the river it’s a disorganized mess. You walk up to a shelter and there is an employee that orders an Uber/Lyft. Make sure to stay in that end of the shelter because there is no structure to who goes when. We have been waiting for 45 minutes and every person that came up after us has left. It doesn’t take much to clean up this process. A simple sign up sheet for when you arrive at the end would make for a infinitely more efficient process.Had a fun trip down the river, but leaving irritated. Wish I would have ordered my own Uber right away or dropped a car at the end to avoid the company option to get back to the start.Edit: 8/4/2019 - Edited from 3 stars to 4 starsTalked with the owner Troy (he reached out very quickly) a little bit about our experience. He mentioned that our experience is definitely not normal. They typically order the rides before you are off the water and the wait time is closer to 5 minutes. They were having some back end technical problems with the commercial Uber platform that wasnt allowing them to have the flow of rides back to start as often as normal. Thats understandable.Hopefully, they implement a system to help organize the flow of people in the order that they get out of the river. Doesnt sound like the they need it a majority of the time, but in cases like today it would have made a huge difference.Id go back and give them another try.

I purchased a kayak trip for one, through Groupon. I started at the knock knolls park location. This is my second Kayak experience.I had some technical difficulties making a reservation online but when I showed up as a walk in, there was no problem at all.I had planned to go the day before but it had stormed. The website was updated throughout the day to let us know of delay and cancellation. The staff checking in was very friendly and helped me walk through the registration-your basic waiver, and redeeming the Groupon. I received a short paddle and safety instruction and then they sent me off.The river was moving pretty good the day I went however it was still easy to navigate and paddle. I went on a 4 mile ride, I took about 2 hours and at the end they have staff that waits to help pull you in and calls an Uber to take you back to your car.Nice scenic views with a variety of birds.I will be going again.

Spent a majority of my Sunday here thanks to their policy or lack of engaging 2017 technology of allowing a reservation system. A group of 4 of us arrived at the location listed on their Groupon. Turns out that is not the actual location for this Groupon. We were detoured after finding parking in downtown Naperville. We leave their to the location not listed for this Groupon which turned out to be Pioneer park. We go there and are told there will be about a 90 minute wait. We can check-in and they will text us when boats are ready. Seems fine to be expected with their antiquated first come first served policy. We are advised to head back to downtown Naperville. We do so to grab some food. 45 minutes later as we are eating we are told our boats will be ready in 15 minutes. We now rush to finishing eating and get back to Pioneer park. It is a public park so now parking is an issue the park lot is only so big. We were lucky and were able to get a spot, but I can see that being an issue. We arrive and now we are being told it will be a 45 minute wait. We rushed to get back for this? Ridiculous. We sat there waiting. An hour has passed and we have still not started this kayaking adventure. After some time passes they have finally loaded all the kayaks on a trailer to be taken upstream and the kayak trip takes you down stream back to Pioneer Park. Their website states to check for cancellation due to water height. Again makes complete sense river with low water probably should not send people paying money and trusting you with their free time down the river right? Well not today. They advise is when you get to the river walk downtown Naperville to keep left the water is a bit low. Competely ludicrous. The water was too low for an enjoyable afternoon. We spent our time trying to break ourselves free because we were getting stuck on the river bed. This is completely unacceptable. As a member of yes service industry you offer your customers the best experience possible. You do not send them down a river with low water just to bank in the money because this is a seasonal job and you are trying to run as many people through as possible. From a business perspective I thought they were a first year organization. Looking into their about us section on their website they have been running for 5 years. First piece of asvise is to invest in an online booking system. Allot so many kayaks for the online booking with so many for walk up business. While sitting their I saw $500 walk away simply because who wants to wait 2 hours to pay you $50. Second piece of advice is to respect your customers TIME. Time is finite there is no getting it back. You waste peoples time by not having clear cut scheduling. Not having clear communication. And you waste their time simplyv by deciding not to just call it for the day due to low water. Welcome to 2017. This business could be good, but my experience leaves me with a bad taste and my recommendation would be to look elsewhere at the very least get a hold of someone and get a clear understanding of what you should experience. Getting stuck on rocks on the river walk which was unavoidable was embarrassing with all the people looking at us as if we did something wrong and infuriating knowing your managers on site knew the low water was an issue yet continued sending group after group essentially flushing money down the river. I can only hope they fix these issues but small business can either be all about the money or all about their customer as it sits Naperville Kayak seems to lean toward the former.
