I reached out to Carl Johnson at Savor Napa Valley Wine Tours as part of a surprise birthday trip I was planning for my husband. Carl was a WEALTH of knowledge and helped me build an itinerary that perfectly suited our interests and our budget. Not only did he help me select the vineyards we would be visiting, but he booked our reservations, picked up our picnic lunch and juggled the 20 something bottles we purchased and got them (and us) safely back to our hotel. Touring with Carl was fun because as a long-time resident of the Valley, he was able to give us fascinating insight into the area, the wines and the vineyards. Carl is an excellent choice for Napa. We were rookies to the Napa experience and were so thankful we found Carl. He took care of all the details, even down to arranging and picking up lunch for us. His choice of wineries, were a great mix of what the valley has to offer. He scheduled all the times and took care of keeping us on track. Due to his experience and relationships he has developed over the years he knows of some great hidden gems. He offered a lot of history and explanation of the valley. His vehicle is impeccably clean and well maintained, very comfortable and even supplied iced water for us all day. We cant wait to get back to Napa and have Carl show us more of Napa.

Carl was WONDERFUL! He took care of everything, from the planning to driving to calling places and letting them know we were running a little early. He was so knowledgeable and professional and even took the time to take a few pictures of us throughout the day. My wife and I were in Napa for our anniversary and spent two days with Carl. We visited 3 wineries on Friday and four on Saturday. Carl organized everything and made all the reservations. He was very punctual when picking us up in the morning and very informative on the area and the wineries we were going to. He would walk us in to each winery, introduce us, take a picture or two and then leave us to enjoy the wine. Carl was a very nice guy and we would highly recommend him for a private tour in Napa.

Carl was fantastic! He responds quickly and planned the entire day - it was such a weight off of my shoulders knowing that someone else was making reservations and taking care of the logistics. Carl makes the drive very enjoyable with water, cooler for wine and a great vehicle. He listened to what wineries we wanted and made sure my group had a fabulous trip to Napa!

Carl was a great tour guide and driver for our trip. We have been to Napa before and used other drivers. If you want a very professional driver who knows good wineries, Carl is great. He is a very nice person, is on time/professional, and has a Mercedes SUV that is clean and stocked with waters. He set up all our reservations, after we discussed where we want to visit, and he has excellent recommendations for whatever you like to do.

Carl was great from start to finish. He listened to what we wanted out of a trip then gave many options of wineries/options for us to choose from then did all of the bookings. His knowledge and stories of the valley were interesting and it was a great trip. All suggestions were perfect.

Carl is a very humble and helpful guide. He took the extra initiative to help us plan our trip. My husband and I went for our first wedding anniversary. We booked Carl for one day, but he helped us book our whole weekend with wineries and great suggestions for the same price. He had wonderful knowledge of the area and the wines and the history. He always made sure we were having a good time and picked us up lunch to picnic at the winery. Highly recommend him for a couples/ girls trip to Napa. He doesnt have a big enough vehicle for a group, but mentioned he may be expanding. He also was very reasonable compared to other tours in the Napa region. My husband and I were going to be in Napa for one day on our honeymoon and were total novices when it came to wine. I contacted Carl and immediately he made our visit so much easier. My favorite part was that when putting together our itinerary, he gave us a couple of recommendations for each time slot, describing their size, wines, and environment. It made it easy to choose and so much less overwhelming. He also gave us lunch options/menus ahead of time so we didnt even have to think about it on that day. The day of our tour, Carl picked us up promptly and had thought of everything - water, bubble wrap in case we bought wine to take home, etc. He was happy to take our photo at every location and answered all of our questions on the drive to each stop. The tour he put together was perfect - we visited 4 very different vineyards and truly got a sense of what Napa has to offer. If youre look for an easy-going, luxurious day in Napa, I could not recommend Savor Napa and Carl enough!

We hired Carl as our driver for two days in Napa and had an amazing experience. He is punctual, communicative and knowledgeable about the region and its vineyards. We really enjoyed the exclusive vineyards that he arranged for us, which we otherwise never would have found. We had an amazing time with Carl. He chose some really unique wineries for our tour. This was our third trip to the Napa Valley, and we mostly had private tastings and tours that were all set up by Carl. He even arranged for us to have a picnic lunch at one winery. The views were outstanding. Book with Carl - you will have no regrets!

My wife, sister, and brother-in-law ended up booking a weekend with Carl. Carl was AWESOME at helping us setup tastings for the entire weekend. The last day, we told Carl that we did not want to go to the sterling winery (we went to the castle and hated it... Carl warned us that it would be packed, but we didnt listen) mid way through our day. He was able to call some family owned wineries that he recommended and got us in last minute. It was one of our best experiences. All of us got a little tipsy towards the end of the days. We started to crack jokes and pick on each other, and Carl joined in with the fun. He definitely makes Napa enjoyable and knows EVERYTHING about the area. We will hopefully see Carl again next year.

We were able to book Carl via reference from another tour driver which made feel super comfortable as one would not recommend the other if they make them look bad for the recommendations. Needless to say, the recommendation was awesome and Carl did an amazing job at helping us with our tour schedule. We already had two winery tours schedule so he researched an additional stop to add on to the trip. He gave us options and let us choose. We ended up at this beautiful small winery/vineyard. It was so perfect to go to a nice private place in between the craziness of the large vineyards. Carl was on top of keeping in touch with us before the trip. He is incredibly nice and knowledgable about the area.

Carl planned a day trip from San Franciscio for myself and 5 others. It was a wonderful day. The planning was easy and Carl made everything run seamless!

It was fabulous. We were very comfortable and had the perfect Napa Picnic We went to a couple of wineries I would never have thought of on my own. Our picnic was on a hillside overlooking some vineyards on a wooden picnic table with NO other groups or people around us. Our guide very knowledgable to say the least.

Carl did a great job educating us on the history of Napa. He took us to fantastic wineries and picked up a delicious lunch for us!

At the last minute, we decided to have a driver for our wine tasting in Calistoga and, by luck, Carl was available. My husband and I visited Napa in late October for our 5 year anniversary and hired Carl as our driver for one full day of wine tasting around Napa Valley. We had the best day, and couldnt have been happier with the location selections. With some input from us upfront, we decided on very different 4 wineries with with picnic lunch at one of them. We did a combination of tastings, and tasting/tours.The day started early at Cakebread for a full vineyard tour, including tastings along the way. Next up was Viader (included another tour), and then lunch and wine tasting at Tres Sabores (our personal favorite!). We ended the day at James Cole.Carl was a wonderful, accommodating driver and very knowledgeable on all fronts. His vineyard selections were perfect for us, as was the picnic lunch choice! I would highly recommend him to anyone visiting the Napa area looking for a relaxing and stress free wine tasting experience.Thanks again, Carl! We will be back!
