Great facility! Thoroughly enjoyed my Day Pass as an out of town visitor. Friendly and helpful staff with a quick tour. This club has everything you need for a great workout. I highly recommend this place! Coolest part was Cardio Theater!

I was a member at the MAC for years. I worked out faithfully with a trainer. When Avalon purchased the gym they gave my trainers group less that 15 days to find a new place. I was told by an Avalon Gym employee that because I was cancelling my membership due to my trainer not being there that they would cancel it the effective date of my cancellation. They did not do this and continued to charge my credit card for membership. When I came back in and address this with them they said they Didn’t have all of their employees on the same page and that they would not honor what that employee said. Horrible service and communication.

Didn’t give anyone a heads up about buying out the former gym. I went in to work out and they stated i could no longer work out because they don’t take the membership i have. I asked when did this happen because i was not informed. They just said “oh it just happened” then tried to get me to sign up for their over priced membership. So much for grandfathering people in! Plus they don’t tell you all the details and charges that come with the membership. They will never have a good rep in my books.

Canceled my membership in person and put it in writing end of June. At the time was told I may be charged 1 additional month due to the terms of my contract. I have since relocated and after being charged 2 additional months in fees called the gym to see why. I then found out the gym is under new ownership, no one has knowledge of my cancelation and I was grandfathered in with Avalon. I spoke to 3 different associates and no one could give a clear answer as to why I was still being charged. Each call I was told a manager would call me but it never happened.Also they were extremely hard up for me to pay additional cancelation fees and kept mentioning the contract. However my contract with MAC only required a 30 day notice. When I mentioned this, I was put on hold for long periods of time. Once even hung up on. The last call I was given an administrator email. Again, no reply. Not sure whats going on within the organization of new owners but definitely doesnt seem like a good place to go anymore!

I joined MAC because I was signed up with a training company there. Since then Avalon has bought out MAC . I was only going there while I was training and have not been there at all since Covid has increased because Im very nervous and cautious. Last night I noticed that they charged me 20.00 more for the month so I called and they told me that it was a maintenance fee added, he also told me I could call today about my cancelation. I called today and a young lady answered, she told me that even though I am under a contract they would cancel no fee, they have been canceling no fee with a 30 day notice so I would only be charged 1 more month and I just needed to come in to process. I went in about an hour later and talked to her, a guy that was near her stepped in and took over his name was Chris Started questioning me and then told me a would have to pay an ETF amount even though I was already advised by the girl that they are not charging those. I then paid it and would not go back there just based upon principle and the fact I was lied to and they care only about the money. Horrible Horrible customer service !!!Update: I have now called to speak with whomever is above Chris about my concerns and the person who answered the phone handed the phone to Chris and when I advised him that I did not want to speak to him, he said he is the manager and I could not speak to anyone else. Are you kidding me ?!? This is horrible these people are going to run this in to the ground quickly, nothing like the previous owners. 😕

I was a member of the MAC for several year, working with a trainer and also working out on my own. The new group that has bought them out and taken over might be making some fun upgrades but they are absolutely terrible with their customer service. Members were not given any type of notice, there were no letters or emails or phone calls. Zero. The Facebook page name didnt even get changed right away. I did not go in to the gym for about a month due to life/work and then I was told by my trainer and a friend that the gym was being bought out. They kicked all of the personal trainers out so I canceled my membership. I went in person, like I was told, and filled out the cancelation on the iPad and was told nothing else by the girl at the front desk. She didnt even respond when I told her thank you and goodbye. Two weeks later I received an email from Avalon stating that my membership was canceled and that due to my membership agreement I would be charged an additional month for not giving a 30 day notice. What membership agreement? And why did this take 2 weeks to be sent to me? This new group has ruined a place that people have loved for a long time and I will never be doing any business with anything owned by them.

This gym is a joke - they changed names and the new owners kicked everyone out. Fired all staff. All personal trainers. Charging way more for the membership. Look at all the past reviews if you dont believe me. Please. Dont support this place.Do not join this gym - horrible group of folks running it. Mac has everything someone needs for a good workout plus some!! Granted people need to re rack there dang weights more. Thats not on the club. Though their employees should make rounds to do that for presentation purposes other than that Im happy I found this gym. 😄

I used to love this gym. Sadly, the new owners have dramatically changed the one thing that separated this gym from others: the cardio room. This room has various cardio equipment fronted by 12 large screen TVs that showed all major networks, cable news, and 4 sports channels, giving the choice of what to listen to through your earbuds. It was a great way to divert attention while sweating. Now the new owners have deemed this room to be “news free.” They now have 4 or 5 TVs running the same ads for fee-based services and redundant health tips, one or two sports channels, QVC, and two networks. That is it. Many have spoken up and we are told it’s won’t be changed back. The room is now sparsely attended and people have moved to individual machines, only half of which have functional TVs. With this and most of the experienced trainers gone, it’s a sad atmosphere. I will be leaving after over 10 years at this gym. I’m told more changes are coming. I better hasten my gym search.

I joined less than a month ago and was disappointed that the new owners not only got rid of the playroom - something a lot of parents loved - but also treated the trainers in there horribly, kicking them out and not giving much notice.If the new owners, Avalon, going to do this to former contractors and employees.. what will they do to the customers? They also didn’t ask for any input and didn’t want to know what was best for their clients, I can’t recommend, at all.

How Avalon has come into the MAC has been terrible. I have been a member of the MAC for 12 years. No Communication to insurance paid members and telling them This is your last day with no heads up or communication before hand. The entire MAC staff was fired. The Trainers were told you have a month to get out then came back and said 2 weeks then 1 week. Absolutely insane.

I spoke with the new owners today and Im super excited for the changes theyre going to be bringing. Lets face it - the MAC was worn down and a complete maze - it was very confusing to know where things were (when I had a tour a few months ago even the front desk girl got lost). The layouts brutal. Seems like the new owners are going to make it a much newer and better functioning gym! Cant wait!

Heard about all of the renovations and upgrades they’re getting which I haven’t seen at any other gym so I’m excited for that! They also let me keep my current rate I had before thankfully! This is a great place to workout. Im in town for a few days and came here to train. The facility itself is nice and the staff were welcoming and friendly. They have everything you need to train here and the equipment is all in great working order albeit sightly worn. The reason for the 3 vice 4 star is the customer base. Ive never been to a place where they cared less about their environment. Plates were strewn about everywhere despite the abundance of trees and holders. Nobody picked up after themselves and almost every single barbell had weight from the previous user left on it. The staff arent your mother, its not their job to pick up after you, its yours. This says much more about the customers values than the clubs, and those customer values are lacking. Great club, fantastic staff, lazy members.

Buyer Beware. This company charged me to cancel my contract after they just bought the facility. Apparently, the contract is void and they knew this. They charged me half a year membership dues. Very dishonest. Shame on you.

I signed up at the MAC 6 months ago with DM Fitness. Tomorrow and Friday DM is being forced to relocate without being able to finish out the week because Avalon feels the need to disregard anyone that is not staying with them. If you want a true gym experience with people that actually care, contact DM fitness that will now be at OLYMPUS Gym. It’s only 1 minute away…

After being a member of the MAC and giving them 5 stars, sadly as it has been bought out by new owners, the gym is steadily going downhill. I just canceled my membership and I joined another gym. This gym and new owners seems to not hold the same values as the old MAC did. A lady was waiting in line to cancel her membership right behind me, if that says anything. Sad to see this place transform into something that didn’t need to be changed.

I’ve been a member at the MAC for 6 years, it’s always been great. I recently inquired about getting a senior citizen a membership and they want $19.99 a month which is insane to begin with considering the variety of gyms in Murfreesboro.My real issue is that I asked about bringing him for the 4 day trial, but was told they no longer offer this “due to covid”. Ok sure, that wouldn’t be a problem if they didn’t respond with “but you can bring him in and buy a single day pass for $15!”. Say no more, clearly a cash grab. Will be canceling the two memberships I have and find another gym who is more willing to accommodate a loyal customer trying to get them more members. ✌️

So far so good. I was on a trial membership and just joined. They have all the equipment I want so I am happy. I have seen so many bad reviews about this place over charging you or not allowing you to cancel. So far I have not had an issue. I am happy I joined. So far. MAC dont let me down! The sauna has been down for over a week I noticed. Other then that the facility is spacious, has good equipment and is a good over all environment

The MAC offers early morning to late afternoon group fitness classes, has lots of equipment, and is so big finding your Socially Distant space is no problem at all. Well lit, and clean, the MAC is THE place to get your workout in Murfreesboro.

I have been looking for a local gym to join and have visited pretty much all of them. MAC is fairly convenient so I signed up online for a trial membership. I never got a confirmation email but dropped by the gym this morning to get it sorted, take a tour. And maybe get in a short workout. When I get to MAC they show no record of my signing up for the free trial. Guy at the desk says no problem, the membership people will be here in 5 minutes. Waited 15 or so, not one person spoke to me and the guy at the desk disappeared. When I asked the girl behind the desk, who had been standing right there during the original exchange if the membership staff were in, she had no clue and was not helpful.Lots of other places to work out that have helpful staff and their business in order.

Amazing facility with wide array of machines. Offers many classes and most everyone is very friendly and will help you out if you ask. Any flack towards this place must honesty come from over-sensitive, or picky people who don’t know a great gym when they see one. Contracts are easy to set up and cancel. A true gem.

Huge facility, has a wide range of options with machines, free weights, a basketball court, cross fit equipment, several cardio areas, etc. I have been to other gyms and worked at one in the past and this is one of the good ones. The prices are reasonable, the staff is excellent, and the gym atmosphere is not as intimidating as the national brand in town. When I had an issue with my gym membership the manager was very understanding and worked with me to resolve the issue confidentially. When I have my son with me, the childcare is also excellent! If I could add one thing it would be a steam room (they do have a sauna in the locker room). Nevertheless 5 stars.

Absolutely horrible. They kicked out ALL of their trainers there with only a two weeks notice, which is where most of their clientele comes from. They are going to over charge all new members, and will be scratching their heads very soon when they are losing business. There is no reason to support this place that is treating long time members like that.

Great place to work out. My wife and I went to the YMCA until it closed. We looked at several places, but the friendly and helpful people made our decision easy. Wouldn’t go anywhere else. This was a few years ago, staff still awesome.

Pretty decent gym, they do have lots of equipment so except for peak hours theres no wait to use anything. I didnt interact much with the staff but they were professional and polite.They were still polite and professional when I called them and told them that now that Ive moved and its not convenient to drive all the way there every day, and the girl I talked to assured me that it was no problem and my membership would be terminated at the end of the current billing cycle.Now 6 months later I am balancing my checkbook and notice a discrepancy, turns out theyve continued to snag that $30 every month. When I called to straighten it out, thinking its probably just a mistake and I could get that $180 refunded to me since I obviously have not set foot in the gym for almost exactly 6 months now, I discover it was not a mistake but instead its the gyms policy. They always continue to debit a bank account for as long as they possibly can. The only way they would stop taking money from my bank account every month is for me to send them a certified letter (which I have to physically take into the post office and pay extra for). I never signed a contract, or any agreement to pay for any number of months, it was clearly a month-to-month membership. They do offer a discounted yearly plan but I did not buy into it. However, they made it very clear that if I just tell my bank to stop allowing their withdrawal they will hire a collection agency to pursue me for money I didnt agree to pay for a gym I dont use.Lesson learned: never sign up for automatic payment with this place. Oh yeah, and the $30 a month plan actually includes additional fees every 6 months, so watch out for that as well.Nice gym, experience totally ruined by the shameless greed.

Im sorry but this is ridiculous. All the members are talking about this problem and no one wants to fix it.The A/C COOLING HAS BEEN OUT FOR 2.5 WEEKS IN THE MIDDLE OF JUNE! UNACCEPTABLE - its 85 in the building.The worst part is staff and management keep saying itll be fixed in a few days. They even took the sign that it is being fixed away.$10 a month gyms have A/C .. MAC cant?P.s - The gym is great dont get me wrong, nicest one ive been to in Murfreesboro. But until this is resolved its too much to even exercise. Will change review upon changes made

Not overly crowded even at peak times there is always access to cardio. Theatre cardio has really helped me stay on track as I get sick of feeling like a hamsterAt least watching a movie, I can sweat, burn some calories and pay no attention to the fact Im actually getting a workout.

Over priced, horrible corporate business! Canceled membership and the lady on the phone never mentioned anything about having to go to the place to get a letter signed to be able to cancel! So not only was my membership continued to be charged! I was hit with a late fee and had to be charged another quarter (3 months). Not the way to do business!

Nice club. The Zumba classes are held in a separate room adjacent to theweight room. When the classes are going on the class instructor leavesthe door open. In those Zumba classes they use high intensity music toworkout with. That loud music interferes with the overhead music going onin the weight room. In short order the interference of the two loud musicsounds grinds on a persons nerves. They keep the movie room door closedso that the sound from that room does not interfere with the sound coming fromthe weight rooms. Yet they keep the Zumba class doors open which interfereswith the machine and weight room music. I talked to the manager on duty aboutthis, he refuses to do anything about the interfering noises. I have been a memberof this club for quite a while. Now I will take my business elsewhere because oftheir inaction of doing anything about the noise problem.

I have been a member of the MAC for about a year now. Staff/trainers are professional and friendly. I have really enjoyed the facility and the equipment that they offer....up until now. The main reason I signed up was to have access to the olympic weightlifting/crossfit area. Now they have a guy who bought all the crossfit equipment and made an affiliated crossfit box(apparently he is only offering classes at 6/8am which is laughable) . So the members that originally had access to that equipment no longer do. I would have never signed up if I knew I was going to lose access to that equipment. Major downgrade on my membership. Oh yeah and they dont broadcast it but they throw on this equipment upgrade fee a couple times a year. I obviously will be taking my business elsewhere. If you thought Golds Gym was shady...... These guys may just take the cake.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have a number of great Monday and Friday Zumba (and they got their great Thai guy instructor back so will see when he will teach), Tuesday WERQ, multi-day Total Body Fitness (TBW), Power Pump and Yoga classes. Most group exercise instructors are great, except a few I dont care for - as with any gym. I dont use them as much yet but from what I can tell the free weight and machine areas seems clean and nicely laid out and it never seems too crowded out there. I belonged to a few other gyms but left them to come back here, this one had the best front desk staff and the better of the group classes.As for a couple of low reviews, 1) in the past especially some Zumba instructors did leave the door open a crack (with a weight) because it gets a little warm in the air sometimes in the summer even with the A/C and fans. But the workouts can be very intense at times. Lately I did hear some of the female instructors saying they need the to keep the door closed so i think management did speak to them and 2) well in the end you have to go by your contract and follow instructions to quit, usually you come in person and fill out a form and/or send in a letter in if allowed to do it that way. I belonged to a few other gyms and their front desk was worse and signed me up for a yearly contract when I asked to be month-to-month and I had to talk to the owners to get me released and it was a bit stressful. Any gym has certain procedures to end a membership and stop being charged. I had once left MAC and did it properly and wasnt charged. I ended up joining back. You cant blame them, sometimes in the evenings you might have a seasonal college kid at any gym working who doesnt know all the details. Would be nice if they had a $10 month membership for those who dont go to classes but I dont see how they would distinguish who can go into the classes the way its set up.

They have enough equipment even during busy times. They dont offer a cheap rate then charge for every little thing. I talked to 1 club that wanted only $10/month. Strangely, if I wanted to actually work out, that cost more. Screw em. Ill stay at the MAC. They have everything I need and the machines always work.
