Dave was wonderful to work with and exceeded our expectation. We just purchased our first home and our first floor has wide plank eastern white pine floors which were pretty badly beat up. Not only that but the previous owner had drilled holes to pull cable wires through. Dave not only filled in the holes but he brought our floors back to life. We knew from the start we wanted someone who knows a lot about working with older wood floors (our floors will be turning 100 in a couple of years) and Dave was just the guy. He helped us make decisions along the way and his prices were very fair considering how precise he is. He is someone who takes his time to make sure the job is done right and well. Well be giving Dave a call again when we want to refinish the oak floors upstairs!

JAK did an amazing job on our floors! David was professional, honest and extremely responsive throughout the whole process.We just bought our first house and changed courses a few times. David was always very quick to answer our questions and work out the details. We had him refinish some of our existing floors and then install new hardwoods to match so the entire first floor of the house was cohesive. He did a seamless job and the floors came out BEAUTIFUL!!! David worked on our entire second floor and stairway to strip and refinish according to our specifications. Not only did he do a beautiful and thorough refinishing, he was meticulous in his work, always a smile on his face, very cooperative, came in early morning 7:30 AM and at times did not finish until 7:00 PM in the evening while only taking about 30 minutes for lunch.we have gone out of our way to share his contact information with paint stores, and moving companies as well as all of our friends. Where do I begin? First: Im usually not a fan of writing reviews online so the fact that Im doing this one means a lot. Second: JAK Wood Flooring and David Vargas, specifically, really earned this review. My floors are breathtakingly beautiful. After multiple tests of different colors (and David was really understanding about all of the additions I threw at him on short notice), I ended up selecting Rubio Monocoat Oil (Black). Its quite an investment but one that I do not regret making. In my view, the results are far more striking than the typical approach to refinishing hardwood floors with a smelly stain and poly coating. I learned a lot about Rubio Monocoat products (really good for the wood and NOT full of VOCs that are not good for people or pets) and Im a true believer now. I know there will be some maintenance in the future but that doesnt worry me as the floors really are a long term investment that need to be protected. I shared a few of the many pictures I have of these gorgeous floors.

This is the second floor JAK Wood has refinished for us and we couldnt be happier with the results.  We worked with David and he was extremely helpful - he answered all of our questions and visited our house several times to assess the situation as we tore up carpet and plywood in preparation to have work done.  Our home is over 100 years old and we really wanted to salvage the original floors, so we were thrilled when David told us that it would be tough but doable.  He and his team were able to get out a large stain, lay new wood where it was needed, and make everything blend seamlessly together.  The floors look amazing and we are so grateful!

Dave is a dedicated, highly professional craftsman who worked on my house for over five days. He spent long hours on his knees repairing severely damaged floors from steam radiators and holes from their removal. There was never a question about his level of expertise as he was recommended to me by Eli, the Patch Master, another extremely competent and reliable worker that I had the good fortune to find.Dave repaired four rooms and two hallways of my 100 year old house. He came when he said he would come and worked the entire day without leaving the house. He was knowledgeable and actually put two different colors of stain along with the natural finish so that I could see the colors in my house not just on a piece of paper.You will not find a more talented, hard working man who is respectful, neat, and thorough. You get what you pay for never rang truer for me. Dave is worth it!!!

There are installers, there are those that do repair work, there are refinishers...and then there is David Vargas. David is from another era, when this work was performed by true craftsmen who loved what they did, and mastered it. My 1790 wide plank flooring was a disaster. I was hesitant about refinishing it, afraid that some clod with a sander and too heavy of a hand would destroy it. David came in here, working meticulously, often on his hands and knees performing more steps than I ever could have imagined to restore these ailing, ancient floors. He also beautifully corrected splintered areas, and filled holes where the boneheads who owned the house before me had drilled holes to run cable lines...theywere unsightly and now it as if they were never there. He expertly corrected a difficult transition area that i figured would never look good...but now it does. I do need to back track a bit though to say that the first time I called..David answered the phone himself. David came to give the estimate...and David did the work...none of this...one person in the office, another comes for the estimate, and yet another does the work. You are always dealing the owner. How refreshng...how unusual. What a find! now my only problem is, having just spent a ton on gorg new kitchen, finding a small bank to knock off so that David can restore all my other floors.

We have used JAK Wood Flooring at three different homes over the past few years and each time has been a great experience. David and his team are very professional: they show up on time, complete the work as scheduled, and have excellent workmanship. We recently purchased a home and had David and his crew resurface/restain some areas and install new red oak hardwoods throughout the entire 2nd floor. We could not be happier with the results. I never post public reviews, but JAK deserves this. Working with David and his team was an absolutely pleasure from start to finish. Professional, friendly, respectful of my home AND the covid situation, delivered what he he promised on schedule, and all the rooms were spotless by the time he left. I have worked with many contractors and only wish they all worked as hard and as well as David. I had the entire 2nd floor of my home done with Rubio Monocoat (which is not common or offered by many floor finishers....) and the results were fabulous. Additionally, his excellent follow-up and availability afterward was/is outstanding. I cant give this guy and his team enough stars.

Four years ago, JAK Wood Flooring restored all of the hardwood floors in our home. They were by far the easiest and best company that we worked with during our moving/renovation process. And, we loved the results. Our floors remain gorgeous. About a month ago, a falling vacuum cleaner damaged one of our hardwood stair treads, splintering the wood. Even though the overall project size was small, we needed a pro to correct the damage and ensure uniformity among the stairs. Our first call was to JAK Wood Flooring. Even though the project was not exactly in their wheelhouse, they happily took it on, created a reasonable solution to the problem, and once again turned out beautiful work. This is our third time using JAK Flooring and my wife and I could not be happier with our experience! Through every step of the process Dave was very helpful and a great communicator. He was very prompt on coming to the house and also providing detailed quotes with various options. Our project consisted of installing new, unfinished, flooring in a room (off the entry foyer) that previously had carpet. We wanted the new flooring to connect to our foyer, ensuring it looked like it was always there, which required the expertise of someone who was well versed in weaving in new flooring with existing. Not only did Dave ensure us the floor would match the existing, he also provided suggestions on blending different quality wood to ensure it matched the rest of the house. The rest of the project consisted of refinishing portion of the first floor using their dustless system and 3 coats of water based poly. Dave and his team delivered beautiful quality work! It has been about a month now since my floors were done by JAK Wood Flooring and I am absolutely still in love with them!!!I worked with David’s father about 12 years ago when I first moved into my home. It had wall to wall carpet (which I don’t care for) and we removed it and he did a wonderful job with bringing the floors to life. They were just amazing! 12 years and two dogs later my floors were in desperate need of a make over and I thought about Tito. I reached out to him only to learn that he had retired and his son (David) was now leading the charge.Working with David was an absolute delight from start to finish. He is extremely professional and personable and truly takes his time to understand your needs. I wanted to change my floors from oak to a darker stain and he was very knowledgeable and walked me through the process. On the day of the job they were here promptly and immediately got to work (meanwhile my boyfriend and I were still trying to move things out of their way :-). They showed me samples of the stains live and David provided me with great feedback to help me decide. The job took about a week. David kept me informed each day of the progress and he totally completed the project as he estimated. When we did the final walkthrough my jaw dropped! I felt like I was on an HGtV show and we were doing the big reveal. This company was referred to us by a trusted acquaintance and we were not disappointed. David was highly professional and so was his crew. We are highly satisfied and I feel better educated about the upkeep and maintenance because of David.

We were looking for someone to come do our floors since December of 2018. Had about 5 or 6 different companies come by and give in person estimates. Some never replied to follow up questions after we ripped up our carpets, others weren’t willing to work with us to address squeaking floors even though we had seen a method to some of the squeak without ripping up floor boards.David came in, and he was the only one to say he could help with the squeaking without ripping up the floor and starting from scratch. He was also the only one that asked to see the underside of the floor from the basement. This was enough to convince us that he met our needs and more.The day after sanding and first round sealing David told me of the issue he had with the floors. He wasn’t satisfied with the look of the stain when applied so his team got to work re-sanding the floors and doing it over again. In addition he pointed out something that we would have never caught unless he told us himself. We appreciated his honesty with us.We can’t recommend JAK enough. Our floors were in pretty rough shape but David and his team managed to bring life back to these floors and knock off one of our biggest Home To Do projects.
