I chose to attend Gull Harbour and I was thoroughly disappointed with the environment and the staff.Environment:Apartments/Offices: very dirty with soiled carpets and mattresses, mismatched and dirty furniture, kitchen cupboards and refrigerators arent clean either.Food: high carbohydrates, low protein, lots of sodium, must beg every week for fresh and frozen fruit and vegetable varieties and all food is locked up because there is an assumption that Clients will eat Staff food. However, Staff eats the Clients food during every shift, everyday.Staff: only there for a paycheck. They dont take the healing of someone in recovery seriously. They wont take you to recovery meetings you want to go to. You are pigeon holed into one meeting a day, that may not be what your working on. Meetings have to be convenient for staffing not for the client. It also depends on who you are because favoritism is everywhere at Gull Harbour. Staff teaches the bare minimum such as what are you 5 senses, how long should you brush your teeth, what are feelings, how to boil noodles. Staff asks patients to take pictures of them for their social media (some inappropriate, some not.), they do personal shopping on company time also. They text and drive and take personal phone calls while driving. They sit on office counter tops eating with their feet up instead of helping clients with their needs. If you need very basic living skills or have special needs, Gull Harbour may suit you. If you are a functioning, educated adult going through a difficult time, it is doubtful you will benefit from this Intensive program that only provides less than 14 hours of programming each week.
Very helpful for ppl with dual diagnosis
