Hunter took care of me on my first haircut since the pandemic started and couldn’t have done a better job. He checked in with me along the way to make sure I was good with the length and edging, and was quick but with excellent attention to detail. Price is really reasonable and worth the service! First off, Im picky about who cuts my hair. I have stick straight blonde hair and I struggle to find someone even where Im at now to do a good job.I was TDY at Maxwell for a training that was 4 weeks long absolutely dreading getting a haircut. I went to Hunters based on the simple fact that I called on a Sunday and got a text saying he could see me on Monday. The response was all it took to get my business.I was not disappointed. Master of his craft. Did a better job than my barber back home. Got exactly what I wanted. Highly recommend for the picky folks who may be TDY in the area.

Im visiting from out of town for military training and needed a cut late in the evening after work in a town Im not familiar with--especially on where to the find a black barbershop, because you cant just type in Black Barbershop on Google yet and expect it to know what you really mean, yet. Still, after some research ( meaning looking at the pictures on reviews to see if was a black barbershop) I went to Heritage first because it was closer, online stated that it closes at 7pm, but when I arrived at 6:24-- the Heritage crew inside looked at me from behind a locked door and gestured sorry.Anyway.I didnt realize it then, but that was a blessing in disguise because I quickly found Hunters on Google, and it was only three minutes away and open until 9pm. When I walked in I was greeted warmly by an older gentleman dressed in a suit and hard leather shoes-- Hunter in the flesh-- and the joint. was. packed. I initially suspected that everyone in there were all like me and didnt make it to Heritage on time, but I quickly realized that they were there not because they were like me, but because they already knew what I didnt, and that this was their go-to spot, for several reasons.Place wasnt hard to find with GPS, a small unassuming barbershop that were all familiar with the look and feel of. Aside from a TV with the game on or music, those who frequent black barbershops dont even expect all the bells and whistles-- were here for two things- a good cut and for some; a spot to come get caught up on the daily local news and gossip--and maybe for the younger guys...a little mentorship.Setup was professional with a nice array of clippers and lighting and very COVID safe. Hunter told me off the bat that it would be an hour wait, and that if I left my number hed call me when the chair was ready--which I really appreciated. An hour later I was back and he was just wrapping up. Hunter can cut hair really well and FAST. He took care of two customers in under 15/20 minutes and they all looked CLEAN. His efficiency is really what amazed me first, and the clean cut he gave me was perfect. Thanks for the convo, laughs and excellent service Hunter on my first visit to the great state of Alabama.

First, I apologize this is a late review/post. Let me start with some background. I retired from the military a little over a year ago out of Michigan and havent shaved since. Being in the military for 30 years, Ive never had a beard. So Im new and learning. And finding a barber who can give a proper trim has been a struggle. I havent had many trims, but Id never had a trim I didnt have to fix myself, until I came here.So after around a year after retirement I find myself down here. Short of a couple family member, I dont know anyone here or anything about the area. The search starts again for a new barber. So I tried one previous shop before this one. The haircut was ok, but the beard trim was an absolute butcher job. I had to wait a good time letting the patches fill back in before I could get a trim again. Then I found this place and gave it a shot. I couldnt have been happier. Ray cut my hair and gave me a beard trim. He spend around an hour on my head. When I first arrived, there were a few customers, but not many. Ray was the only barber present at the time. While I was in the chair, another barber showed up, and more customers started showing up. It was getting busy. I thought for sure Ray would start rushing my cut, but he did not. He just kept at it, and paying close attention to detail. Ray didnt not just cut my hair and trim my beard, but he invested time and genuine effort. He cared and had pride in his work. Craftsmanship, hard to find these days. I have found my new barber shop, and I highly recommend it to others.

ItS the place to go for a great bald fade. Not o my is he open late, but he knows how to give a great fade, even to a white guy that has trouble getting regular salons to understand what kinda cut Im asking for.
