Ive trained in a variety of martial arts since the mid-late 1990s. After spending about three years studying kung fu, I went on to earn a third degree black belt in taekwondo, and had my own school for a number of years. As the advanced curriculum in that art grew thinner, I sought a richer curriculum that would build on what I had learned. Sensei Johnsons broad and deep knowledge of shorei ryu, ryukyu kempo, and even fundamental BJJ presented the best-rounded curriculum Id encountered. Add to that the fact that Sensei Johnson is an exceptionally gifted teacher who surrounds himself with similarly gifted practitioners of related styles, and his school is far and away the best in the area. The school is great for kids, fun and challenging for adults, and offers huge growth opportunities for advanced martial artists from other schools.
