This place just became my new source for car rental needs in this area. Cassidy and Lisa were terrific, and the process was completely pleasant. Noted better-than-average COVID arrangements in place.

Rude and dismissive! Took 3 calls for an answer, literally 20 minutes of no answer. Finally a RUDE lady answered and said well you need to get here within 2 minutes because we close at 5:00. I had a reservation and no one told me I needed to be there before 4:30. I changed my rental to Enterprise, nice and helpful! NEVER again HERTZ!!
Car was clean and available as expected.I had opted for a free pickup. Turns out that I was outside of the distance for the pick up service, but nobody took the time to let me know that I needed to find my own ride.I recommend to check the mileage on the vehicle very closely with what is on your paperwork. My paperwork reflected that the vehicle had fewer miles on it than actual. I brought this up with the attendant and he promised to correct it. That correction never took place and I was charged for miles that I did not drive.

Customer-facing employees shouldnt show a none-of-my-business or thats-not-my-problem attitude to their customers.I suggest the management of this Hertz location to improve: (1) have an online system that honors reservation or at least call the customer ahead of the time in case they cant fulfill the reservation, and (2) put better trained customer-facing people in customer facing roles.My friend made a reservation on Priceline at 4PM on Mar 2nd. The reservation looked good and nobody told us there were no cars at this location until we arrived at the office at 5:30PM.In my conversation with the Hertz rep K, I asked a few questions for potential solutions and there were many opportunities where she could show empathy and help us. Instead, she tried to put in the least amount of effort to respond to every single question I asked. The final solution she gave was me calling a 800 number which put me on a automated voice reply saying business was closed.To be fair, Im sure that this specific individual K is doing every right thing she was told to do. I understand that, and this is by no means a complaint against her. But I do think Hertz should train their customer-facing employees to put their customers needs as their own top priority, and think in the shoes of their customers (especially given that in this case its Hertzs fault to not being able to fulfill the reservation in the first place).
Wow - I should have looked at the reviews. The same story over and over. I reserved a car, less than 24 hours to my time, they allowed the renter to extend another day. This meant my car would not be ready for another 2 hours after my reservation time. I had the time specific for my needs. I didnt have a couple hours to wait. They could not do anything at this location for me. I had to call corporate to cancel, which they said I had to do online and they couldnt do anything. I held them on the line and there was going to be a cancellation fee.In the contract they stipulate that they guarantee to have the same class car or something better for you at the time of reservation. I told this to the manager I spoke to and he agreed to cancel my reservation for no fee. Went to Enterprise instead.I am not sure why they would extend a reservation into someone elses? I had prepaid for almost 2 weeks, very strange. I hope my review saves someone else from this stress or helps them to change their lax policies.
I made an online reservation to pick a compact car just before they close, the rate was around 35. I showed up and hey told me they dont have compact cars and they only have an SUV but I have to pay three times the rate of the compact car. The employer there told me its my fault because I made a same day reservation. I have business to do tomorrow in the morning and now I have no means to get to it.
Booked a rental, received a call later (when due to pickup) letting me know that they no longer have a car because they had a busy day, however, if I want to pay more I could get a Chrysler 300-a luxury car. First, a Chrysler is not a luxury car, and secondly, I should have received it for the same price. I scrambled (5pm) to find another rental elsewhere and found one, with far better service, at Enterprise across the street. For 38% of the cost at Hertz. Had another rental booking coming up, skipped Hertz, and went to Enterprise.In addition, my prior experience here was also met with issues. Must be just this location as I have found that in general Hertz is better than this office.
I would not recommend Hertz. I received a car that was not to my expectations, too many blind spots for me. They did not have any alternative cars available on site or locally but said I may be able to change cars at an airport. I drove the car home which was a mistake. thinking it was going to be easy to change cars. I tried calling the number given but the call went to another country. Now when calling where I got the car they tell me to call the airport myself as the airport is under a different management. Basically they could not help me. When I called the airport I was put on hold for a very long time. I am still not able to resolve my problem. Very bad service overall. No one seems to care whether you are satisfied with your experience and their service. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again.
My experience was quite different. I received great customer service, the car met expectations and the return process was quite simple. Yes, this is not a high volume operation like we see at the Hertz airport operation, but, I personally wouldnt want it to be. This is supposed to be a more personable experience as it is in our neighborhood.I have rented from this locations several times in the past and have always received stellar service. I will continue to rent from this operation in the future as the need arises.
I should have paid attention to the review rating for the Mission Viejo/Fabricante location. I made a reservation and received a confirmation number from AAA a week in advance for a one day rental. When I went to pick up the car, they only had an SUV. I am a 74 yr old, and 5’3” woman and can not drive such a large vehicle. I ended up driving my own car and I was trying to avoid putting extra miles on my leased car. They told me that reserving and confirming does not guarantee that they will have the car you wanted.
My wife made an online reservation and prepaid with her credit card. I took my wife to pickup the vehicle and they said the card we used to book was flagged as fraud. They refused to allow us to rent a car despite having her id match the credit card. They wouldnt even rent me a car! Because of this, my wife and I were late for work and we didnt get a rental. What if I dropped my wife off and left for work?! Terrible service and policy. Never again Hertz.
Last time I rent with hertz. Horrible customer service. Zero transparency with hidden fees and rude employees. They get overwhelmed quickly and always seem understaffed. **warning, paying with a debit card? Expect a credit check**
This is the best rental place EVER. I never have to wait, the people who work there are always friendly and helpful, and the cars are great. I use them a lot when I need to drive long distances, and Im always pleased with everything.
The car had issues. It seemed like it had transmission problems. I always get my rental early to drive around town before a long trip to get a feel for it. I hated it, I drove back to the Hertz office and complained but was told that was normal. Plus I reserved a mid-size car this was compact. (much too small!) The transmission was not right. At one point in our trip we were on a very steep road, the car almost started going backwards!! My husband had it in low and we struggled to get up the hill.We rent cars at least 4 times a year when we go to see our grandchildren in Oregon. This is the first bad car in.a couple of years. I would have appreciated it getting switched out (or at least offered too) instead of dismissed. When we returned the car and mentioned the transmission again, again.it was shrugged off..
My overall Hertz experience was ruined at this location, because the XM Satellite Radio could not be activated. To my amazement, the Hertz attendant said I had to call Roadside service to activate it. I did, and after spending almost 4 hours of MY PERSONAL TIME ON A FRIDAY talking to 3 different phone reps, the Satellite radio could not be activated on my vehicle. I was advised to get a refund for the prepaid Satellite radio when I returned the vehicle on Monday. When I did the car return, and informed the attendant what happened, he said he could NOT adjust the total on the bill at the location. He said I would need to contact the Hertz billing department, to get a refund of the prepaid Satellite radio charge. Again, I have to a call and use MY PERSONAL TIME, to get this resolved. By the way, I was on hold for 45 minutes before my call was answered by a phone rep. and finally got it resolved around 10 minutes later.
Great rates and service...I got a flat tire and they sent help out to fix.
If you need a rental, try these folks. Super nice, very competitive and gave me a free upgrade. Customer Service for outstanding.
This is not my favourite location for getting Hertz cars. There was a line four people deep and things seemed quite disorganized. The service here was quite good and the folks are eager to help so things are not all bad here.
Staff extremely professional and try to do their best to accommodate me if reserved size vehicle is not available. I return to this location for the service even though their are closer locations to my residence. Keep up the good work.
I did experience a great customer service at Hertz location in Toyota Dealer at Rancho Santa Margarita. The service is so friendly and fast, if there is not having other customer at the counter. And the process is so easy and convenience to rent a car through on line reservation.
Car was supposed to ready at 9am had to wait over an hour for our car because it was not cleaned yet. Only one person working the counter. She was nice and tried her best but the line was out the door. Never coming back...ever.
NEVER USE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!! The absolute worst customer service!!! They charged extra money to my account with zero explanation. EXTREMELY RUDE!!! I was sent home because they couldnt figure out how to get my reservation from State Farm. I have never been so offended than by the employees at this location! Do yourselves a favor and run. Not to mention the car was DISGUSTING! The smell was horrific and it was in horrible shape. GO TO ENTERPRISE!
I also had the worst experience ever. I have been renting cars for years and usually use Enterprise although my company has a national agreement with Hertz. This location was close so I reserved a car. There is NO Customer Service at this location and I do not know why Hertz lets this go on without making some changes or firing some people. I have been in sales all my life and understand what a customer’s negative response can do to a companys reputation. I did not look at these reviews until after my experience, I cant believe all the one stars and everyone is saying the same thing. They did not have a car for me, were extremely rude, unprofessional, confrontational and when I called the Manager an ass they placed me on the do not rent list and refused to rent me a car. I went back to Enterprise and I recommend that everyone else does. Further action regarding this matter is in the works. Wake up Hertz you have a problem!!!
Do NOT rent from this location. I should have listened to the reviews. Salesman told me to return the car as dirty as I wanted and that he didnt mind vacuuming. Brought it back and was told there would be a $75 cleaning fee because it was over the top. Really?? For crumbs and dirt? Newsflash, cars get dirty after 10 days in them and it was nothing a 10 minute vacuum job wouldnt take care of. I had to argue with the sales staff about whether they told me it had to be clean or not inside. And then they just reduced the fee to $25 after I got my husband on the phone to confirm they were wrong. Seriously, rent somewhere else!!!

Bad service would never recommend this place.They don’t follow up for the reservation. I also had completed reservation and suppose go family trip and car is not even available not only that I had to call them and find out. I don’t the know the name of the manager at this place but he is horrible. This kind person only drag a company down.

The representatives at the Hertz office were very friendly and cooperative. I would go back to this location in the future. However the minivan we rented had not been filled with gas and the power sliding doors on the vehicle had been disabled.
Most rude, disrespectful, condescending, in-professional & awful people I have ever had the dis-pleasure of working with.After 2 dysfunctional cars, I finally left with a working car, but not before wasting 3 hours of my time all while being treated terribly. The employees and Area Manager acted as though I was a problem to them because the vehicles they placed me with were defective. Throughout this whole ordeal never was I offered sincere apologies or anything to rectify the situation. I was only offered excuses about the problem and told I should understand how they feel.I highly recommend looking elsewhere for your rental car needs at least if you would like to be treated like a decent human being and not waste your time.
We were pleasantly surprised that our recent Hertz rental from this location in Rancho Santa Margarita cost a little less than we usually pay and the rental staff was just terrifically helpful. Very Nice!
Not a very good place to rent. I called last week to confirm my appointment and put me on hold for 10 minutes. Today, I went to pickup a car and they already saw that my insurance requested a mid-size car and they still wants me to call my insurance. What is that? Other places that I rented would even give you an upgrade right away if they have on the lot.
The car was great on gas mileage . Mitsubishi Mirage . The staff in the office were very helpful and nice .

PLEASE READThe people who work here are very disrespectful and have wasted my time. My Wife and I reserved a rental for my father that was visiting from out of state. When we got there the sales men kept trying to push offers on us very aggressively. We kept telling them we were not interested. When we first drove the rental car we noticed that the AC was not working. We took the car back and we wanted to rent a different car from them. It took over an hour for them to bring another car around. (we were the only ones there). When we got the other car, they were trying to rush us out the door to sign the paper work. We noticed that this car was full of dents and the engine was making a lot of noise like it got in a crash. We argued with the sales men that this car was not going to work for us and wanted a different car. It took 2 hours of arguing and my wife crying to get us another working car... I hope no one has to ever experience what we went through. I STRONGLY recommend to bring your business to another car rental place.

I rented a car from this location for March 11 and I received the confirmation.But on March 11 when I went to pick up the car I was told that their system is not working and I need to come back later .Later in the day they called and said their network still had problem . I am so disappointed in this place and will not rent from them again.
