The hardest part about having USI as an internet provider is that one day you might have to say goodbye. Excellent quality, price and customer service! The first time Ive EVER felt I got what I paid for with internet. If you have to ability to get USI do it as as you can. The day it becomes available at my home Im ditching my current internet provider and and getting USI again.

I will always give my business to a company that provides outstanding customer service and has a dedicated local team that can be reached by phone 24 hours a day. A friendly, knowledgeable tech on the other end of the line makes a world of difference.This company has even made an impact on which places I would consider living in Minneapolis: if the building doesnt have USI Fiber, Im not living there!

Fastest and most affordable internet Ive ever had in the Twin Cities. I have never had a lag or difficulty. Only once has my internet gone out unexpectedly and they sent a technician out the same day and got it back up and running. Reliable internet is so important now that Im working from home. Fiber is the way to go.

I moved to St Louis Park in April 2019 and I cant tell you how much I miss you guys. For those considering trying it out, it was easy to schedule a time to get it set up, worked great, and when we moved it was a breeze to cancel, by email no less! Anxiously awaiting your expansion into SLP.

I switched units in the same apartment complex, and didn’t realize I was getting billed for two units instead of 1 for over a year.When I called to get this sorted out, I was pleasantly surprised on how friendly and understanding they were with problem, and I received a call a couple days later asking details in regards to the refund check, which was over $1000, and everything I thought I was owed.Although I think it was the right thing to refund mymoney, I really appreciate the way they handled it, since I figured Id be putting up a bit of a fight.Thank you!

VERY fast with installation (from phone call to order to having it ready, 1 week!!). Everyone was quick and courteous. Excited to try out this service.Update-still really happy with our service. Maybe not as fast as the xfinity, other times its very comparable. Really happy with the customer service, just had an issue, called and was directly connected to an agent, who immediately fixed the issue. Service call was over in 90 seconds! Very impressive.

Absolutely abysmal service. I have never seen either the upload or download speed go above 1 mbs, and the ping stays around 700 to 1000. Im getting a fraction of the speed I am paying for. This is a scam, every time I call (almost every day thanks to random shutoffs and outages) they try to sell me a Fiber Optic package instead of actually rectifying the issues.Dont even think about using this provider if you want functional internet.

You get about 20% of the WiFi speed you actually pay for, if the internet is functional at all (it is frequently not). Their customer service is very polite and friendly, which is nice as I call them about twice a week to ask why the WiFi Im paying for wont function.I do not recommend this service at all. STAY AWAY

The worst WiFi service I have EVER used, without exaggeration. I am currently writing this from a Starbucks because the internet is so slow I may as well not have WiFi at all. I have had better connection and speeds in rural Ukraine, Albania and the Czech Republic, despite the fact I live in a large, technologically advanced city.The only good thing about this provider is their customer service, I have actually become close friends with some of the support staff because I call them every other day to ask them why the service has stopped working.

I am very happy with my USI wireless service. And on the occasions I have had a problem or technical issue, their customer service has been top notch, and I love that they are local. Another nice bonus is that they dont try to sell me on more services every time I call, unlike every other provider I have dealt with previously.

They told me your not our only customer and there will be a fee if you miss this window - after I stated that I didnt have 1/2 a business day to wait around for an install consultation (not even the install)... update, Ive had several good interactions with customer service since this with great respo Dr and 24 hour tech assistance!!

USI fiber is by far the fastest Internet Ive ever had. Much faster than Comcast and cheaper! They also have great customer service with friendly and helpful employees. If you live in an area that offers USI fiber service, you should definitely give them a try.

We are without service periodically every month. Last month we were without long enough, a couple of days, to prompt me to call them. I was told they had an issue after running an emergency broadcast, no ETR available. Now, one month later, we have been down for days. We have been told it is the fault of Excel Energy. A couple of phone calls later, purchase of data for our phones, and antennae for our televisions, we are pretty much told not to hold our breath for it to be remedied! Wow! Never has anyone offered to credit our account for outages. I dont understand why the feel they should be paid when not providing the service we pay for. Mind boggling!

After many ups and downs and hard to fix problems, SOMEBODY finally got on it and made it right. They may have had to spend a lot of time and effort----that was the impression I got. My nagging may have been a motivator for them, too. Who knows. Now I have the fastest thing going and never have any problems. It could have a lot to do with where I live, too, but it all adds up in the end. Im a very satisfied customer.

It depends on where you live. We get the 3 mbps we pay for most of the time, though sometimes during peak hours its less than that. Other people I know whove had it could not get the bandwidth they were paying for, so had to switch.I recommend giving it a try, and see how well it works for your house. Its so cheap that you cant not.

Nice customer service, better price point than other providers, and easy to set up installation appointment. Had to cancel, because connection was dropping too often and would lose connection for up to 20 minutes at a time while trying to work from home. Streaming video would be iffy at times and watching contact would occasionally be impossible.

The speed is fast...sometimes, until it slows. Like others have said it is the most horrendously horrible customer service I have experienced. Just awful. The only reason why I wont cancel is because it is cheap!

Unreliable service. I paid for it for way too long reminded me of dsl or dial up. Lot of hanging and buffering and simply not working. I was impressed at first but that quickly faded. Go with the evil companies who at least provided some value and service.

The company rocks and I have high hopes for the future as they start getting the fiber rolled out. They are the least expensive by far, and in my limited experience with their tech and customer support theyve always been quick and friendly. I would firmly recommend them if you are a casual internet user and dont depend on the service.Avoid at all costs if you play any kind of online games (500-1500 ping-times are normal) or plan to watch video (can work but its a crap shoot).Note that you can try them out for a month and if things dont work out theyll refund the money and youre not locked into a contract. That said, our first month was beautiful, then things took a pretty steep dive.

We live in Seward, have 6 Mbs service, and actually get it all. I recommend having USI install for you, and only if youre going to be around for a few years. Back when we installed, they using a handheld device that detected signal strength. Signal varies widely around my neighborhood. USI even installed receivers off the side of our neighbors houses to receive better signal. Over time, USIs prices beat out the competition, even factoring in the installation cost.

Absolutely awful experience with USI wireless. Internet was extremely slow (not enough to watch YouTube videos without constant buffering) and sometimes completely unavailable - even though there is a transmitter box right outside of my house.It was INCREDIBLY difficult to cancel our service with them - one hurdle after another and no accurate record keeping on their part. Cancelling our service with USI wireless was the worst and most frustrating customer service experience Ive ever had.Do NOT use USI wireless for your internet needs.

One of the worst customer service experiences I have had. They started out great and we were a wifi customer since it was available. I even got it for my office. That was a nightmare as the tech aimed the antenna in the wrong direction and they wanted to charge me to change it. About the same time our home service speed went into the toilet. They had no answers and quit trying. Now I find out that they continued to bill me (by the year) for another year. Theyve had growing pains and are not over them yet. STAY AWAY from this company.

Not impressed came to install after waiting 5. Hours they didnt get it to work and said it was a problem on the pole and could take 24- 48 hours after waiting 24? We called was told it was fixed we explained it wasnt working they did some trouble shooting and said they would send someone out between 12 and 4 no call no show now it may take 3 weeks I dont think so.Been 5 days now still not working yeah we are impressedOne week now and all we get are excuses its been the nodes being out now they are saying its our router or the modem....run dont walk to another internet provider!

The customer service was always quite satisfactory and I have had no issues with USI wireless. However, I live in south Minneapolis near Minnehaha Park and my wireless reception was being blocked by the big, tall homes around me. This is not the fault of the company. I talked to them about it and they could not improve the signal. I tried moving the window receiver several times but it did not help. Also, my neighbors reception interfered with my wireless and would sometimes block it and I would be offline for hours at a time.when I really needed it. The service is provided by the barrel shaped instruments on the corner street light poles and these are not ideal locations for them. They need to be situated higher for better reception. They said they are doing major upgrades to the service reception by March, 2016 but I am not sure.Therefore, I had to stop USI service and go with internet service provided by my phone company.

Ive used USI Wireless for the past few years off and on at different places.Theyve always been extremely helpful and come out to your house for free to help set up the antenna. Getting it set up right is tricky in some locations, but it is plenty fast when you have a strong connection (good antenna positioning).Also, theres no contract for month to month and the price is good.Whats frustrating is that they dont allow you to have any open ports. This means you cannot run a server. Also, bittorrent traffic seems to be entirely filtered. I use Linux and bittorrent is a really good way to download updates, but I cant do this with USI.

We moved from downtown Minneapolis a couple of years ago. I miss USI wireless so much! The price was amazing-$15 /month if you pre-pay the whole year, and the service was good.We now pay about $60 PER MONTH for Century Link in St. Paul (the only other option in our area is Comcast). The service works if theres only one person logged on-the second anyone else logs on, it slows to a crawl. For 60 bucks a month I expect a lot more. Please come to the west side USI!!!!

A large portion of the city gets crap service. If you are on the North side, or downtown, dont even try. If you are in uptown, maybe. There is too much interference, and the system cannot handle how many people they put on it. It takes an hour or more to get through 10 minutes of a show. Well, unless I am online between the hours of 3 am and 6 am. Im switching to Comcast for $4 more a month for 3Mb, and I hate Comcast with a passion.

These guys are absolutely the best. Weve been customers since they first set up the city wide wifi in Minneapolis. Our needs have grown, and I began to shop around for faster service, even though I hated to do it.I spent some time on the phone talking to sales people from other companies, and that experience made switching even more unpalatable. I was unable to get straightforward answers, I saw many reviews citing billing difficulties, and much remorse that the reviewer was stuck with the company for the length of their contract. To top it all off, I was calling to a phone center somewhere in India or SE Asia, which made the possibility of decent customer service seem even more unlikely.I called USI, and told them I really needed a speed increase, with there being 2 children taking online classes, in addition to the number of wireless devices running in our house. I also told them I had been shopping around, and really didnt want to leave, because over the years they have been very helpful in finding solutions to our ever growing needs.Fiber has been rolled out in our neighborhood (very fortunate for us) BUT- only on the Avenues, not on the Streets. of course my house is on a Street, so fiber wasnt running in front of my house. I asked if it would be possible to get hooked up to fiber, and Amanda put in a request, saying We can sure try!. A few days later, we got the confirmation that they would indeed get us hooked up to the fiber! I was SOOOO happy! Then it came to the install...I regret having forgotten the name of the installer, but we spent some time out in the front yard together in the snow, figuring out how it could be done. Our installer figured out how to best do the install, where the fiber would connect and come into the house, explained everything he was going to do, and proceeded to do the install, drilling and running cable that is hardly noticeable, even if youre looking. Top notch, all the way.ABSOLUTELY wonderful, professional service. All we need now is for the thaw to happen, so the fiber can be brought up to the house. I am so pleased with USI- when I call, Im calling Minnetonka, not somewhere across the Pacific. They are willing to work with customers in order to provide service, instead of considering customers as disposable.I also want to say that in our long history with USI, there has NEVER BEEN A BILLING/ACCOUNT ISSUE. That in itself is pretty rare these days. I cant say enough good things about the stellar customer service and the competent, professional installation.Absolutely the best!

Beyond frustrated with this company. Have been with them since June and have had 6 weeks without internet in that time. No one could give me answers and didnt seem to understand why going without internet for that long is a problem. When I canceled they said my account was canceled for nonpayment...which is ridiculous because I paid the full year upfront... I canceled because their service is terrible. I would DEFINITELY not recommend this company. The price is not worth the inconvenience, lack of support and inconsistent internet.

Ive had their 6 Mb/S home service since it was first available in my neighborhood and love it. Prepay for a year and this is the cheapest internet. Works perfectly. Clearly reading other reviews this is hit or miss around Minneapolis, but for my Bryn Mawr home, I couldnt ask for better internet service. Ive had no issues with their service whatsoever. I also use it when roaming around the city, but dont get the 6 Mb speeds, I see less than 1 Mb/S, but they say the highest speeds only come if using their modem.

Im very sad that I am about to leave USI for one of the evil companies. I have been with USI since their inception, and I dont know that theyll ever improve, but Im at a point that I dont care. My speeds have always been much less than half of what I pay for, even when Ive upgraded. This is a classic example of getting what you pay for.

USI ran fiber optic cables on my street and I have been getting mailers several times a week since June or so. In early July I setup an account to get the service installed. 3 months and many many phone calls and emails later I still have no service and each time I reach out to them they ask me the same questions (contact info for me and the landlord) which I give them and then nothing happens I wait a week or so and then the whole cycle repeats.Im very unhappy with the cost of my comcast and USI fiber sounds great but has only wasted my time and infuriated me. At least I can browse the internet while comcast gets on my nerves.

Probably the worlds worst ISP in existence. At least with Comcast you get actual service. Im paying $25 a month and getting download speeds around 100kbs with an average ping of around 2 seconds... my highest recorded ping was 7. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS ISP. People say USI Fiber is better, but I wouldnt even screw with them. I doubt their services are much better considering their ping seems like it was ripped out of 1992Oh I forgot to mention that they have a habit of cutting their phone lines when their service goes down so good luck getting a hold of them for any customer service

I pay $25 per month for 25mbps service. I test it often and it is ALWAYS a minimum of 20mbps, but usually have speeds slightly higher than the advertised speed. My rates have never changed since i signed up and their customer support has been just fine.I used to have centurylink. I was paying $40 per month for 40mbps service and it NEVER tested above 13mbps. 13! They raised my rates every 6-12 months and were awful to deal with on the phone.Thank you usi wireless!

We live in Minneapolis and have been having a very difficult time getting the internet to work fast enough to reliably use the internet. It works fast enough for us to watch a movie via Netflix or Amazon about 60% of the time. Often we have to just give up watching because it stops playing every few minutes. When we have tried to get a technician to come out to fix the problem they have given us the run around. We purchased a new wireless router, thinking our old one was the problem. But the problems are exactly the same after we hooked up the new router. My husband and I have both tried on separate occasions to get a tech person to come out and work on it, but even after several requests they have not sent anyone out. We havent changed wireless because USI is cheaper than the other options, and weve had the same kinds of problems with other providers as well in the past.

Horrible service from day one. Two time the installer didnt show up and I was being charged for months without me knowing before they finally installed the internet. Once the installer was out I was told I had to buy my own wireless router so I was giving an Ethernet cord. We had internet for about a week and then it was out for 4 days. When I called the person I spoke with wasnt helpful at all I was told the reason I have no internet was because of the other people using their Wi-Fi. I can understand some interfering but for four days. I dont k know much about how this works but if I am paying for internet I expect to be able to use it.
