An organization which does wonderful things for our best friends and help all they can. Funds donated are put to good use.

We adopted Mabel (17-223A) from RAGOM on April 21, 2018. She was a retired breeding momma from Missouri. We went through the extensive and thurough application and home visit process, and in my mind I wouldnt have wanted them to do it any other way. They are looking out for the best interest of everyone of their dogs. We are so grateful they picked us to continue to love and care for our sweet sugar face girl. Plus, we still get to keep on contact with her foster dad 💛

My mom and her husband have been associated with this organization for years fostering and taking in house dogs, transporting dogs, participating in Goldzilla, and board member. Top notch organization.

Wonderful organizations. They took great care of my Grandpuppy when he had to be re-homed due to a change in my sons work assignment. He was being sent out of town to work for months at a time, couldnt take the dog with him and didnt have anyone to take care of the dog. It was a gut wrenching decision to let the dog go and we are ever so grateful to RAGOM for finding a great home for him.

We searched long and hard for a Golden rescue organization that looked after the quality, health and well-being of our dogs life.Unfortunately we had to relocate overseas and because of his previous fear of being in a crate we felt he would have better quality of life with a new family. It was the hardest thing we ever had to do. Many many tears.Yes Ragdom is difficult to adopt. But you must understand what the dogs have gone through. They are all just watching out for them. We are ever so grateful for everything they do. Very organized, friendly and good communication. We cant say enough about them.We will miss you Buddyboy, youre in our thoughts and prayers. 💘Mommy and Daddy

My dog, Kira, and I met a couple of your fosters out for some exercise and their foster guardian is a delight! Very informative of her fosters and the rescue! If I wasnt maxed out on pets (my husband and I have a 4 pet rule, no more pets than you have helping hands), she would have convinced me to adopt my 1st Golden! If anyone reading this review is not sure about adopting from Retrieve a Golden of the Midwest, dont be! They are excellent people to adopt from!

Fantastic dog adoption support. They really check your background (questionnaires/home visit/vet contact) and sincerely want to find a good fit for your family. Everyone we dealt with was so kind, friendly and informative. And they take care of their dogs for life so you know no matter what, you and your dog have a support network. Could not recommend RAGOM enough.

Very, very tight constraints to adopt. I know they are looking out for the best interest of the dig however seems zero flexibility to place a dog with a loving family that doesnt meet every bullet point.

I adopted my Golden Doodle from RAGOM,The description of the dog said she needed to be placed with another “settled “ dog already in the family. At the time I thought, well, that seems like a “wish list” item rather than a “must have” but now that I’ve had Zoey for almost 5 years, they were SO RIGHT!!!Zoey is a very emotional dog and kind of “flighty “ at times and really needs her settled sister to ALWAYS show her the way to do everything!RAGOM was right, I thought I knew better, turns out I was wrong!Thank you, RAGOM for taking the time to KNOW my dog and what was best for her in the long run.PS, RAGOM Is the furthest thing from discriminatory! I am a single person and I took the time to tell them about myself and my household and they rewarded me with one of their dogs.

We have adopted senior Golden Retrievers several times from RAGOM. They have been wonderful to work with. Kind and caring volunteers make this a great experience.

This rescue seems to only like normal families. My girlfriend and I tried to adopt a few different dogs and no luck. We have a huge fenced in yard, both extremely active, the dog will only be left alone for no more than 5 hours and thats only three days a week. Ive also had four Goldens while growing up and thats not good enough for them. We have been consistently looked over. It makes people end up going with breeders. Every dog is labeled no children or children only 10 plus. We may or may not have kids in the FAR future (same sex relationship...has to be very planned) and we got turned down for possibly wanting kids. They think every dog that comes from a breeding facility is going to be bad with kids even if they have no evidence of it. Just like someone else said, they want you to have a husband and a perfect family or they look right over you. If you must go with this rescue, lie about wanting children. Even if its a maybe like us, just say you dont want them. All in all, Ive never dealt with a more difficult rescue. Like someone else said, it seems like the foster families just want to keep the dogs and have the rescue pay for all the expenses. Ill be rescuing a dog elsewhere.

I had to find a home for my 5 month old Golden after breaking my leg and hip. Because of their careful vetting, I trusted they would find a great home for her.

The requirements for this organization go beyond reson. It makes me feel that although they get some great people who make it through, they are pressuring even more great people to seek dogs from breeders. This is not a good thing. We meet all requirements, already own a Golden, but were denied when the foster didnt have a good feeling about us after we met the dog we were interested in, TWICE! She just loved her foster and didnt want to give her up, which is fine but dont lie and drag adopters down in the process. We kept trying and just ended up finding a guy who had a litter of unregistered Golden pups for sale. Our new pup cost us $250 and no hassle. NOT what we envisioned but what we were pushed to do my a rescue who doesnt seem to care about the adopters. Also, our pup is awesome and I wouldnt trade him for all the tea in China, or all the gold at RAGOM.

Others are right, they seem to like normal families. I am a single guy, not American and I was asked something along the lines of do you guys have dogs as pets where you come from? are u serious? Also we hear all about adopt, adopt, adopt but organizations like this make it almost impossible. I filled out TEN pages of questions (no problem) to wait 2 days and then they sent me an email saying they wanted additional information on how I plan to train etc.A lot of you readying will say thats a good thing, of course it is, but not to the extent that these guys take it, I mean they are really over doing with this whole process, only to find out that it doesnt matter what you write they already have a picture of what a dog owner/dog family should look like, so these questions dont really matter if you dont fit a Mid-Western type of vibe for them.Overrated. Plenty of other adoption places around that do a good job screening without being prejudice. Cocos Heart is one of them in the Twin Cities.

The rules for adopting go on forever and ever and ever. When you think that they are done they want to come to your house. This is after you fill out a minimum 7 page document online for applying for a golden. They want you to have a family. If you are single forget it. They want a husband and and kids They want to know if you and the husband are in a healthy relationship. They dont want the dog to be adopted by someone who might get divorced. Apparently divorced people are not worthy of Goldens. They want a tall fence in your back yard. No underground fences thank you very much. They check your vet to ensure that you havent missed any appointments. They wont accept a house with a dog door. They dont ever stop to think geez are running analytics on the dogs that we are placing to see if we are actually benefitting the dogs that we place or are we just tilting at windmills and making ourselves feel good. This place is all the effort with no logic. If you want to see a buracracy that has spiraled out of control this is it. Its all the efficiency of the Federal government with the commensurate logic. Save yourself the time and money and donate to an efficient dog rescue. If you want a golden buy one from a breeder. If you value your time this is the most expensive source in the midwest.
