Today at Wednesday 29 September me and my friend went to Best Buy for a possible battery issue with lenovo laptop they said it couldn’t be fixed and if it were they would have to order parts which will take them 7 days and cost us approximately 330 dollars, we then went to another guy who gave us an estimate of 249 to 349 dollars but referred us to chipheads instead. Fortunately for our fate chipheads fixed the display issue due to new software because the guy at Best Buy didn’t diagnose the problem correctly. This kind elderly guy took 15 min of our time and fixed the laptop without any cost, we were students who had mini heart attacks by hearing the price at Best Buy luckily to have chipheads he not only fixed the issue in 15 min but did not cost us a single penny. This place is GREAT! The guys are so helpful and knowledgeable. My computer is 6 years old. The hardrive was running slow. Chipheads got rid of the malware, added a new hardrive and memory. All for a good price. If I would have taken this hardrive to Best Buy the would have told me it couldnt be fixed and sold me a news computer. Stick with Chipheads! Theyre fabulous!

More then ten years ago now. I worked in a local Geek Squad and later an OEM white box manufacturer. I saw the inner workings of both companies repair process. I saw some poor quality repairs in my day, and there was a lot of room for improvement. So when my laptop broke I wasnt sure if I had 3-4 hours to order parts and dismantle it, or roll the dice on a depot repair. I made the right choice bringing it into Chipheads.Chipheads is not even on the same level as any of my other options in all areas (quality, cost, communication). They sourced the parts at a discount, and took great pride in the work they did on-site (instead of shipping it off to a repair depot). Far better then I could have done myself and they kept me updated perfectly. They seem like good folks, but... BUT, ran an intensive software program on a damaged hard drive of mine that I explained was a mechanical issue (head and platter issue). They misrepresented their work as if it were not purely software. The week of software working on my Hard Drive scrapped every last piece of data into digital dust. Something I learned after 3 subsequent data recovery services.In essence they lost very important data of mine for $30. If you need anything else from them, it would seem theyre great.

I cant say enough about the quality of service I received from Chipheads.I had a a horrible failure in my computer. One morning I was unable to boot the machine up. It would come up to the sign in screen (after an hour) and I could log in...but then it would do nothing. With critical data on my machine I was desperate to get it fixed.I brought the machine in to Chipheads and they diagnosed two failed hard drives and a failed power supply....a trifecta.Chipheads not only repaired the hardware but also restored the operating system and all my applications and data were there. Amazing work by these guys.Knowledgeable, friendly, professional and cost effective is the best way to describe them.

We are in an area with very low quality internet. With that said, as a business we need to keep our information onsite with a server. Every server replacement we have done has been a nightmare. Chipheads has been my go-to computer guru for years. My last experience was just a week ago. Scott from Chipheads couldnt have been nice, more professional, and more helpful. I had run out of trouble shooting ideas and left it to Scott to figure out the problem. It took a little bit, probably an hour, and he figured everything out. In the meantime, we had a time to get our nerd on talking about books, Star Trek, and all kinds of things. After all was said and done, he asked me to give him a call back to check in later that day. I needed a new power supply for my MS Surface but they took the time to make certain that was the only problem - no charge for that service. They were fast, responsive and had the right part in stock. Socially distanced too.

Brought in my mac that had a water incident. They were able to retrieve the data on the drive and send out for repair. Saved me a ton of money by not having to buy a new computer!

The keyboard on my laptop wasn’t working. I stopped at Best Buy to see if they could fix it but they couldn’t even look at it for a few days. I had remembered hearing about Chipheads so I decided to stop there. They had me out the door with a fixed computer in five minutes, so grateful for the talented technician!

The staff at Chipheads is great! I brought my laptop to them in February after my computer ran a reset sequence to see if they could recover any data. They talked me through the likelihood of them being successful, which wasnt great, but I appreciated their honesty and they didnt charge a fee for the consult. I wound up bringing it back the next day as it was still acting up and they diagnosed it as a hard drive failure. They repaired it quickly and walked me through my replacement options to try and find the best fit for me. I brought the same laptop back a couple weeks ago, this time for a broken power jack, and because I had been in so recently, they were kind enough to waive the labor fee even though it was a totally new and unrelated issue. There was a wait for the part, but they let me take my laptop home until it came in, and then once it was in, they got it installed same-day. Theyre definitely knowledgable and honest and Id go back to them for any computer issues any day!

My computer crashed Wednesday. I brought it to Chipheads Friday at what turned out to be the right time. Mike took a look at it right away and replaced the power supply. Got it up and running which definitely made me happy. Total time was 20 minutes and $113 for labor and parts. I told him that was probably the best $113 I ever spent. Thanks Mike!

We have had Scott from Chipheads out a couple times and each time the work was done professionally, timely, and most importantly, done correctly. The larger project was upgrading my network to Windows 10, it took a couple hours but all worked well. Highly recommend these guys.

Devin assisted me when I arrived with my laptop computer not working. He was very helpful in determining the problem and gave me several options for service if I wished to have my laptop worked on at this time. With his advice, I chose to have a tune up to remove any malware and to have a hard drive installed. Devin assured me response time would be greatly improved. I missed the opportunity to thank him when I arrived to pick up my laptop. He left a message asking me to contact him if my computer is not working perfectly. It is. Response is much improved. I am so pleased with the wonderful work Devin performed on my laptop. I thank him very much for his excellent advice and work. Results like this is why I only let Chipheads work on my computer.

Chipheads found me a good deal on a replacement 4k screen for my laptop, and charged very reasonably for the labor. They completed their work well within the time frame they initially set. New screen is working great!

I have always taken my computer issues to MicroCenter in SLP, but will change to here for the location and really kind and helpful customer service!

Friendly staff and they do appear to fix many othings. Give them a call before showing up to confirm what they can do to help. They cant fix the infamous iOS 4013 error, but to be fair not many shops will even try.

Very conscientious about time with their customers and effective solutions. I learned a lot about how to lower my wireless bills during the home visit to address laptop and other issues.

Chip Heads has helped me with recovering information from memory cards and computers a few times. Once when my camera went in the ocean and they helped me recover all data from my memory card. Also when my personal computer wouldnt work, they fixed it and restored it to working condition. Andrew was one employee who was very helpful to me.

Blown graphics card sourced (they don’t make them anymore) replaced failing power supply (same story) and jacked up the performance with some new RAM. Bench tested and out the door!!! Only saved me 5,000$ versus buying a new Mac Pro workstation. Thanks, my G5 is smoking right along. High Sierra indeed!

Took my mid-2012 MacBook Pro in for suspected failing hard drive. Turns out it was just a failing hard drive cable, but while they had it on the bench I had them upgrade the drive to a 1T solid state. A good experience with the heads. Everything about this place is professional and reassuring - not always the case with indy repair shops. Are they the cheapest in town? I suspect not, but Im happy with what I got for what I paid.

Ive used Chipheads a couple times for Mac repair. Once, I had trouble with keys sticking and they told me there was likely an apple recall and that Apple was replacing the entire keyboards on my version. This was in fact the case. The second time I used them they pulled data from my failed minimac hard drive and placed all the data on a flash drive.

After pricey estimates from others about a track pad problem, I called Chipheads. They were able to fix my laptop with a cleaning and next day at their walk-in price. Very pleased. Will use and recommend.

Absolutely amazing customer service! I am beyond satisfied and grateful for my experience at Chipheads. I was working on my Dell laptop the other night and all of a sudden vertical colored lines started flashing at me on my screen. Its only 1.5 years old! I took it to GeekSquad the next morning. They plugged it into an external monitor and the flashing appeared on it. They told me my motherboard was shot and itd be 1/2 to 2/3 the price of my laptop to get it fixed, so maybe I should just get a new one. I felt absolutely defeated. I googled computer repair nearby and this place popped up. I read all the great reviews so I thought Id give it a shot. I walked in and was helped immediately. The associate also plugged in my computer, but then went a step further and unscrewed the bottom of my laptop. He unplugged and re-plugged in the battery and TA DA! my laptop was back to perfect working condition. He knew exactly what to do and it took less than 10 minutes. AVOID GEEKSQUAD! They just want your $$$ The associates at Chipheads know what theyre doing and actually want to help!

I couldnt recommend a better repair service in the cities. I had a broken laptop screen enclosure, and they were able to get it taken care of extremely fast. The fix was more than fair in price and turn around time. They and were open and honest through the whole process, and made what normally would be a stressful situation seem easy.

The hard drive on my wifes Toshiba Laptop was failing and we could not get Windows 7 to startup and get to the Docs and Photos which of course were not backed up because hard drive failures never happen to me. I read some of the reviews here on Chipheads and felt that if any one could do it Chipheads could. We brought it in, they were very helpful, explained the process and cost and that it is possible that they may not get any of the files or only some of the files out. But they did get them all and they were not damaged. The hard drive did not survive and the machine is now useless. We have since purchased a new laptop with a solid state drive. Since its solid state, no moving parts, I dont think I have to back it up. Isnt technology great.What a great job they did. Thank You ChipHeadsBob

Hands down the very best computer repair experience I have ever had. Went in expecting nothing but a headache (based on experiences from other computer service outfits) and was blown away by their service and there ability to quickly salvage my data and install a new hard drive).

They were able to recover RAW files on a CF card for me for a very reasonable price and quick turnaround. I very much recommend!

I found the power jack was broken and a small transistor fell off when I took apart my MSI S6000 laptop trying to repair it. The power jack was mounted on a I/O card instead of on the motherboard. It is very hard to find a replacement on ebay. So, I had to fix the I/O card and power jack. I had a hard time to replace the power jack on the I/O card, and solder the transistor back on. Jerry took a great effort to fix it with a reasonable price. I really appreciate his help, and kindness. This is a great store, and the people there really try to help.

A+++ I originally brought my 27 Mac to the Apple Store for a week and the Apple Store couldnt figure out what was going on while Chipheads knew right away. They were able to identify my computer issue as soon as I walked in within 2 minutes of plugging it in. They had the part ordered in no time and my computer back to normal in less than a week. Id recommend skipping the Apple Store and taking your mac directly to them if you are having a problem cause they can get your problem fixed stat and skip the long line at the Genius Bar. The hard drive on my 2012 Macbook Pro started failing and knowing nothing about computers, I was referred to Chipheads by a friend of mine. They were extremely thorough in the diagnostics they ran, the work they completed, and the answers to the excessive questions I asked. I have used Chipheads several times for various issues with different computers at my business. I havent shopped around for price, but I have never felt that Chipheads prices were unreasonable. On several occasions I have had a technician from Chipheads come to my business and each time they have been very quick and been able to come out either the same day or next day and have solved each issue during the first visit.This week my computer wouldnt turn on and I called Chipheads and described the issue. They were pretty sure they knew what the problem was before I brought my computer to them to fix. They promised my computer would be fixed within 1-3 days. They called me back the same day and told me my computer was fixed and ready to be picked up. The price was the same as the estimate I had been given and now my computer runs like new! I will definitely keep using Chipheads for any computer repairs.

Ive had desktops, laptops, and windows 10 update help and repairs done by them over the last ten years or so. Every single time they have done all that we asked and more. Theyve also given me very valuable detailed advice on motherboards, graphics cards, processing power, and RAM memory to buy in a video editing computer I wanted to build. Even sent me to a computer shop that they knew did an excellent job with that kind of thing. Most recently they helped me with updating several desktops and notebooks to windows ten. I brought the computers in when I was stuck and they advised me of what to do without charge. They even diagnosed a hard to find slowly failing hard drive that was making one long and frustrating upgrade attempt to windows ten just about impossible. I knew something was wrong with a valued desktop I had been trying to upgrade for almost four months unsuccessfully and had just about given up. I expected nothing, but they found it a kind of on and off flaky issue with the hard drive by running the desktop an entire day, evening and morning and finally noticing it had started to make a difficult to detect rubbing sound. I was very, very relieved when they called me about the low volume but strange sound. That day I purchased a replacement hard drive and they installed the new hard drive and windows 10 upgrade and at a very reasonable price. Very few repair shops would have spent the time or payed that much attention to one customers weird little problem with a supposedly easy windows 10 upgrade. They did and that is very rare.Needless to say, Ive become a regular customer gradually and more and more willingly. Whats even more wonderful is they are always honest and warn me against spending unnecessary money that doesnt make sense given the age or capabilities of a computer. Im a long-time computer owner and user and sometimes become too personally attached to my machines. They are also willing to talk with me to help me have a better understanding of how to solve issues on my own when I dont know where to start. The result is that when people talk to me about needing a repair or help I send them to Chipheads for honest, knowledgeable, and unbiased advice. They are a very well-run and customer focused company interested and dedicated to their customers needs and always make an extra effort to volunteer help and advice that means even more to me.

Let me set up the scenario: Struggled for two days with my work laptop running slowly and exhibiting many annoying symptoms. Dropped it off at Chipheads returning home deeply annoyed and guessing that I would be using my older back-up for 3 days.I had previously had them tune up that laptop with this the first real run. Next morning I was amazed at how well my backup ran putting me in a much better mood.Later that morning they called that the one they had was ready for pickup.Got there, no mystery bills a pleasant man that spent time giving me advice on defense options from malwear and viruses. This laptop works better than it ever has due to them removing programs they knew I didnt need.Great team member for small business and people who have a critical need for computers that work well!Thanks Chipheads!

Young, pleasant, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Miss having their store on Snelling, but it’s worth the trip to Bloomington. Really worked to get things right when my laptop was misbehaving and kept me informed of repair status. Got CD working — another repair shop told me I needed a new one. Same “other” shop told me registries were off, which wasn’t the issue at all. Driver issue with printer connection fixed remotely. The Chiphead tekkies always listen, are amazingly tolerant and even when my explanation is wonky, they somehow understand.

For a simple defrag or in depth diagnosis, probably one of the better places to go. Reasonable rates, they can come to your home and a clean enviornment for servicing your computer.

Excellent help and repair with computers.

My laptop decided to randomly not turn on. I went to Best Buy and they said it would be $89 for a data transfer, and they didnt know what was wrong with it. I decided to try a different place (Chipheads) and since they were my last stop and were right around the same price, they got my business. I dropped it off on a Tuesday, and they quoted me $99 for the diagnostic, which also included backing up all my data. I decided to check in on them after 6 days, so I dont know if they would have hit their timeline (but I assume they would have), and the tech was currently working on it so they called me back in around a half hour. My motherboard was fried (something I wasnt willing to pay for getting fixed) and they offered to encase my hard drive for an additional $20. All in all, $120 for an external hard drive and all my data back -- in my opinion -- was worth the money. Id recommend them, and theyre a small local shop, so I love that.

In todays world, we rely on our computers a lot. I have had outstanding service at a reasonable cost from Chip Heads Computer Repair Shop in Richfield, Minn.

Stopped in looking for basic repair parts. I was told We dont sell repair parts, your best bet is to go to Microcenter.

Brought my laptop in for DC adapter repair/replacement. Then a few days later the hinge near the DC port starts coming apart. I bring the laptop back to the store and ask them to fix the hinge. They wanted to charge me full price to do the repair. I said no thanks - you broke it, so why would I pay for you to fix my computer and potentially break it again. Not a satisfying experience.

They fixed what others couldnt. A bit pricey, but they provide high quality services and the customer service is top notch.
