This was the first time I have ever done anything more to my hair than cut it. However, despite being a bit nervous, Zach did a phenomenal job and I’m obsessed with how it turned out! He took my vision of what I wanted with my hair and made it even better. I’m considering flying in town now that I live out of state to have him continue doing my hair - he’s that good. Loved the service here and everyone was so nice.

If you want one of the best haircuts you can get this is the place! Vicki is my hair stylist and is AMAZING! Not only does she keep a great conversation, but she gives great haircuts. The front desk people are incredibly nice and always follow up prior to your appointment. I couldn’t say a bad thing about this place it’s a great atmosphere!

I just had the worst experience with this salon. I booked an appointment to get my hair colored, showed up and was told that they didn’t have time to do it today. I was pretty understanding, because what I wanted was going to take a while, so I said that’s fine, re-schedule me for another day. So they did, then I was called the day before my appointment and told that the stylist was busy that day with family, and asked if I would please re-schedule. So again, I rescheduled my appointment, without getting upset. So today comes, the day of my appointment that I’ve now re scheduled twice. And I forgot my wallet at home and had to run home to grab it. I tried to call their number online three times and no on answers. So I grab the wallet and am running like twenty minutes late. They finally call me like at 9:12 and tell me if I don’t get there in three minutes they will not be able to get me in, and they will charge me a fee for a no show appointment. I was like ten minutes away at that point. Then when I tried to explain that to the girl on the phone, I got hung up on. This was seriously the worst experience I’ve ever had at a salon and I would not recommend anyone to waste their time going here.

I wish I never went to this hair salon. When I called to make my appointment, I asked for someone really experienced with coloring hair. The person they set me up with was actually pretty new (she was a jr stylist), with less than 3 years since graduating from hair school. She messed up my hair so bad. She didn’t follow what I told her I wanted, even after she repeated to me exactly what I wanted. The color looked awful and she sent me home looking like that anyway. When I got home and could look at it better (the lighting in the salon was not great) I realized how bad it was and called to make an appointment to have it fixed. This time I was set up with someone more experienced. She acted like she could fix my hair no problem. She made it worse. I understand color corrections are difficult, but if you don’t know what you’re doing/how to fix it then just admit it so I can go to someone who knows what they’re doing. I went to an Aveda salon next to have it fixed. It looked way better after that initial appointment but I am still having to go back a few more times to have it worked on (color corrections can’t always be completed in one visit). When I called the original salon to let the owner know how my hair turned out and that I was unhappy and wanted my money back, it took over a week to get ahold of her. Finally I got ahold of her and she was very rude and not understanding. She didn’t apologize for her stylists messing up my hair. And she refunded me the cost of the color, but didn’t give me back my tip. Update: Lauren called me shortly after leaving this review to ask me to reconsider/this was not their typical experience. I learned it was Razeal’s first day alone after training and that wasn’t what they wanted my experience to be. I went in to have Lauren cut my hair. She was professional and on top of it! She cut my hair better than my expectations with fabulous bangs. I actually ran late and they still made the magic happen. I’m just very pleased with this fantastic cut and then great customer service after my not-great experience. I felt heard and received the cut I wanted. 5 stars!!!!Previously: Went here once and had a decent hair cut. Nothing bad just didn’t thin it as much as I normally like but no biggie, I just planned to ask for more thinning next time. The issue came when I tried to reschedule my second appointment. Multiple people called me but I missed these calls. Someone texts me before I call back so I go ahead and text them to reschedule the appointment. Well apparently the staff changed in the middle of me texting because they became confused and I needed to correct them on the current situation. They offer times for reschedule and I say yes to one of those times. Hours later I get another call and they leave a voicemail saying I’ll be charged if I don’t reschedule my appt by 7pm today. So I call them to get it sorted and the staff who answered the phone had just one ounce of customer service. I gave the rundown of the situation, pretty annoyed that I have to do this a second time but the response to that is what is frustrating... just an ‘ummmm’. I asked her why I would be charged if I cancelled in advance and she just said ‘oh.’ And then I mentioned the continuous confusion and got another ‘oh.’ So then I asked to cancel my appointment in total since this has taken up too much time and I got an ‘okay.’ Razeal, the lady I spoke with, really could use work on her customer service because you lost my business.

I love love Lunitic Fringe. Their customer service is top notch. I usually go to their South Temple location and did a quick lunch blow dry and it did not disappoint

I see Krista there often and she’s completely captured my heart! She’s professional, efficient, knowledgeable, and makes everyone feel so comfortable when visiting her. She’s a complete sweetheart and always makes sure her clients walk out happy. I couldn’t recommend someone better!

Really unhappy with the haircut I received today. I told her I only wanted a trim (I specifically told her 2-3 inches) to help with some of the damage, and she took about 8 inches off. I asked for a v shape, and she cut it straight across. I EVEN SHOWED HER A PICTURE OF THE EXACT CUT I WANTED. She asked me if the length was good at one point, I told her yes, she said okay, Im just going to clean up the edges a little. and then she just KEPT CUTTING. And I got home to find that it is still uneven. I am Very unhappy, I would not recommend this salon to anyone. Krista Dong is such a great stylist! She highlighted my hair and it was borderline black and she took me to carmely blonde. It still is healthy and not dried out. The salon is very clean and classy.

DO NOT GO TO AMBER!! My hair has never looked worse. I wanted warm natural highlights in my naturally brown hair. After Amber colored it, it looked like I had a Halloween witch wig on. She dyed my hair black with grey ashy streaks which she called highlights. I told her it looked dark after she blow dried it hoping shed get the hint that I hated it. She said it would fade in a few days after I washed it a bit. It did NOT FADE! It was nothing like the pictures I showed her. I would have been better off dying it myself!

I was absolutely in love with my hair after my appointment at lunatic Fringe. I had my hair dyed red with balayage technique. It was stunning and I loved it. Everyone was friendly, they worked really hard, and the result was very beautiful. I have gotten my hair dyed red before and so I understand that a little bit of fading happens in the first week. However, there are two colors I never wanted in my hair and they are blonde and coppery/orange red hair. It has been one week and one day and I see traces of blonde, orange, and strawberry blonde tones in my hair. I am so sad. Especially when at the time I got my hair done I was between states and a final decision hasnt been made yet so this may be something I live with for a long while or pay a different salon to fix. I dont know if this is just a fluke and I was unlucky but sadly for the price I was hoping for a better guarantee of results... so even though I think the staff is lovely and wonderful I would probably not return given the chance. For those who might wonder, yes I know the name of my stylist but I feel that everybody is allowed to make mistakes and I dont want this review to impact her negatively. Thank you for reading.Edit: My hair now has blonde streaks (1 week 5 days after appointment) and is turning strawberry blonde in large sections. This is using the shampoo/conditioner that I bought at the salon! 😢Update: Was complemented today for my pink hair! So much for the red asked for. Avoid this place or be sorry for it later.

Was recommended here by a friend. After internet and IG research of their stylists, I chose to book with Charlee. My girl nailed exactly what I asked for. And I’m particular and have had such bad experiences. I’m working on a transition from virgin hair growth to red with minimal hair damage. She heard me and delivered with great input, a semipermanent gloss! Can’t wait to get my high lights in a couple weeks.

Thought I was paying $45 at LunaticFringe because that is what is on their Website (unless you look at the FINE print). But because it was a “master stylist” it was $70!! Didn’t include styling! My hair is super short in the first place and maybe needed a 1/2 - 3/4ths of an inch all over. Came home and the top (that I spike up) is uneven and despite specifically saying the neckline needed to be even it isn’t! If I would and been told by the owner who answered the phone, that the short-hair “master stylist” she told me she was as booking would be $70 NOT $45 would not have wasted $25.

Oh my, what a great experience! My husband surprised me with a hair appointment after years of avoiding the salon and doing my color at home. He called them weeks in advance and told them it was for my birthday and to not let me know what the total was. When I arrived, they knew exactly who I was and they treated me like a queen! They were so sweet the whole time, and the hair treatment was amazing. The wash room was dimly lit with relaxing music, and they put warm towels on my hair and let me relax. I was in heaven! Lauren did my hair and it is beyond perfect! I will definitely be back.

Charlee is an amazing stylist! Hands down the best stylist I have ever had! She takes her time to make it look great. She’s very open and makes the haircut not awkward (we’ve all had those). 10/10 highly recommend Charlee!!

Great salon, I will definitely be going back. It’s always scary going to a salon for the first time; especially when you’ve had bad experiences. I loved the sweet staff and atmosphere of this place. My stylist, Lauren, went over everything I wanted done before we started instead of asking me questions along the way, which I loved. She did an awesome job matching the color to cover my gray hair and added another color for some high lights. She blended it well I didn’t have any ridge lines or chunks or missed spots like in the past. I couldn’t have been happier. Even the price was comparable to what I have paid in the past and WAY better in quality. They treat you like a guest. Thank you Lauren!

I am extremely picky and have gone to Katie Howell quite a few times because she knows her color and matched me perfectly to the picture I showed her! She gave a phenomenal head massage as well. I recommend her to all my friends and they love her as well.

I thought the service was pretty good, product was nice, and the employees friendly. However, that doesn’t really make up for a bad haircut. My layers were uneven and the face framing looked like overgrown bangs. My hair felt nice afterwards though!

Cut about 12 inches off my hair, I hated it... I had it redone by the same stylist the next day, then redone again by a master stylist a few days later... I still wasnt happy, but I didnt dare keep going shorter... if its your first time going here, ask for an experienced stylist... First girl was nice, but I asked for an A-line, and the back was longer than the sides.

Ever since my usual hair stylist moved to California a year and half ago, Ive been without anyone giving me what I wanted in a hair style. It has been frustrating. So, on a spur of the moment idea, I walked into Lunatic Fringe over here on Union Heights and set up a same day appointment.Pauline was a godsend to me.She created exactly what I wanted from my style. The head massage I received from getting my hair washed was a huge bonus too. Almost fell asleep.I loved how she went over every product that she used and the reasons why she used them. My favorite style I prefer is a jagged-layered type. I have an extremely long section of hair on a quarter of the bottom of my head and the rest gets layered up. My bangs are feeling free and the way she jagged my hair by using a razor was awesome!For anyone like me who doesnt go to the salon as much, maybe three times a year, the price is worth this cut and wash.I would give the price I paid, but Ive forgotten, it was over $45 though, since the receipt I have includes my new hair products I have, so...cant count that as a price.

Amber did a blow dry and style on the morning of my wedding and it was AMAZING! Of course the hair amazing but the experience was my favorite part, she did a super relaxing scalp massage and made sure that she was doing everything I wanted throughout the whole process. I am super happy with her!

I always have a fantastic experience here. Everyone who works at the front desk has been wonderful, and Loren is just an awesome person. I like to change frequently and Loren is always ready to roll with the punches. I have the most fun easiest to care for hair cut Ive ever had right now... It is a little on the $$ side for my frugality, but to have a haircut that is done well, its worth it.

Just got the Salon Experience, as provided by Tyson. Its a major upgrade from a mall haircut and Tyson is a hair artist. Can really make a mans hair look excellent. For reference, Im a guy who likes to look his best and Tyson did a great job--as he has done the past 5 or 6 times since I started going there. Ask Tyson for the Salon Experience, and hell probably enjoy a nice chuckle with you. This guy knows what hes doing.

I had Lila for my haircut and she was absolutely great. She really listened to what I wanted and offered thoughtful suggestions and walked me through what she planned to do. Im incredibly happy with my results and will definitely be back! I also thought it was sweet that I was offered something to drink several times, and one of the employees also walked around with a basket of free snacks. If youre looking for a new salon, definitely check them out!

Lauren is amazing at cutting mens hair. I had been going to a high-end barber but the cuts were sometimes just plain bad. My haircuts here are always amazing and Lauren even convinced me to try something new which I ended up loving.

Its hard to find a stylist who is great with short hair as a female. When I first moved to SLC, I went to several salons with good reputations but they didnt work out. They werent good with short hair. Then a friend recommended Lunatic Fringe and that was it! Even living in Philly for a couple years, Id plan trips around when I needed my hair cuts. Crazy but true - Id fly hours to get my hair cut here.

I needed a new stylist and a friend recommended Lunatic Fringe. My stylist was/is Lila. She could tell what techniques, processes, and style I had from the previous stylist within the first ten minutes of meeting her. I also had my hair done by another stylist at this salon because my schedule was not as flexible and I couldn’t meet with Lila, but needed to have may hair done. I had the same professional treatment and recommendations that would flatter my face shape and skin color. The salon is clean and the people that work there are kind and professional. I would be happy to recommend friends to this salon.

I’m very particular about who gets to cut my hair, I will visit multiple stylists until I find the right one. The first time I worked with Katie, I knew it would be a perfect match. She’s been doing my hair for years now, and I couldn’t be happier. The whole staff is friendly and helpful. During a particularly long hair dying, several members of the staff made sure I had snacks and drinks. It made the experience so much better!

The Union Heights location has always offered me fabulous service! Lauren always does a wonderful job with my long, thick brunette locks. Im never pressured to purchase unnecessary product nor have I had to share her with another client during my appointment. As long as she is doing hair, Ill be her client.

Fatal Hair cut done by Tyson, was not what i was expecting at all. Walked around with my hair this way for two weeks, only to have someone point out one side was way shorter than the other. For proof please go to their photos, its been added there. Layers were added to one side and not the other. Hair was very uneven and getting tangled all the time. The hair cut really makes a difference ladies.

I’ve had appointments with three different stylist and each are highly skilled at their craft—and downright delightful. I couldn’t be happier with this place!

Its a very nice salon, and all are pretty friendly and talented, but could a couple of the stylists cut their fingernails? My scalp is literally RAW after a week from a certain stylist who dug her nails into my scalp while washing my hair. I dont want to mention a name because my intention is not to ruin their clientele. But for Heavens sake, trim the nails please!!

This is by far the best salon I have ever been too! The entire staff is so friendly and talented. I went in to get a coloring job fixed that I got from another salon (I mean REALLY REALLY bad color job...) and Haleigh knew just how to fix it up beautifully! I have been to a few different stylists at this location and I always know that whoever I get will do a great job. I most recently went to Harliegh for a haircut. She is friendly and kind and truly an expert at what she does. She knew exactly how to handle my hair type to give me the look I wanted. I have never left Lunatic Fringe unsatisfied. Love this salon! Very cool atmosphere! I went in for a partial weave looking to get rid of the copper tones, which isnt easy with my dark hair, and my stylist Kristin made it happen! She was very professional yet friendly and we were able to keep conversation the whole time! She also gave me a deep conditioning treatment which was amazing! My hair has never been softer! I feel confident in her as a stylist and cant wait to go back!

Lila is great. Only problem is that I guess too many people agree with me so be sure to book at least a week in advance if you want her to do your hair! This salon is amazing, and Lauren is a miracle worker!! I wanted to go from dirty blonde to Emma Stone red and she nailed it! It looks so natural and my hair has never been so healthy and shiny. What an amazing experience. You certainly get what you pay for! I love how much they take care of you and make you feel comfortable. They ask what YOU want and they listen! They never try to force you to do something you dont want to do.

I started going there based on a referral from a friend and I know I wont go anywhere else. Lauren always knows how to fit my color and cut to my style. I like knowing I can just show up and shell have great ideas! They also provide free drinks and snacks, so its such a great experience overall to get my hair done!

I came to Lunatic Fringe to make a dramatic change to my hair and they really took care of me. They put a mask in my hair so it wouldnt be dry from the Winter and the process of just washing my hair was so relaxing. While getting my hair done, Harleigh suggested some products that would make doing my hair easier and they are fantastic! They did a great job and were very professional. Definitely coming back.

From front desk to check out, seriously individualized attention. I was greeted by name and recommended treatments and products especially for me--and the best part was none of it was pushy! Katie was my stylist and helped miraculously restore my hair that had previously been totally butchered by a different stylist at a different salon. We worked and worked and she picked up on every detail to make sure we can restore the look I want. Not to mention, she was super patient with every single detail I asked about! This was such a great first experience, and I will definitely be coming back.

Katie is amazing! I came to Lunatic Fringe for the first time with my hair a mess. My color did not match the extensions, the extensions were in weird places, and my cut was uneven. Katie moved things around, fixed my color, and gave me a cute cut. My hair looks amazing. Will be going to Katie for all things hair from now on!
