We’ve tried to join and use the facility a couple of times but the pool schedule less than helpful. Staff is usually rude. Not a real friendly environment. We end of closing our membership. We keep trying thinking that as new people come in the atmosphere will change.

My wife was followed to the ladies dressing room by a female employee. When my wife was about to lock the door the employee pushed the door open and demanded she show her the keys to ensure she was a member!! She didnt have her keys because I dropped her off, she made her walk back to the front to talk to the staff! Basically treated her like an intruder and very rude.

Childcare/after school program is awful. We were there for a little less than a year and had many issues with them. The counselors are immature and have no care for the children, they need to find a different line of work. For example my daughter said she was thirsty and was told to drink her spit 🙃

Just joined for the POOL access. Was told to check the schedule online for the hours. My first visit/day here was nice. Long awaited access to a pool in Midland Texas where you have NO water or lakes. However, if you think youll take a swim after checking the schedule think again. Evidently they close the pool whenever they want and you will be sorely disappointed after a hot day at work. Not to mention foregoing other plans and after driving in traffic on a Friday evening to get to the pool its extremely irritating.

I enjoy working out there I dont feel any sort of intimidation there. The facility is well kept and clean, I enjoy taking my son and step daughter to all of the children activities they have going on, my boyfriend loves it and has been consistent with his workouts, the steam room and sauna are amazing! My only complaint of this gym are the hrs I wish it would stay open a little later given my busy days overall Ive really enjoy this gym 🙂

Weight room kinda sucks and needs to be updated. They definitely to not enforce racking of the weights. And dear God do not go into the locker room unless you like seeing penises everywhere... Including the hot tub. Really? Why do they allow naked men in the hot tub?

This is the worst place to send your kids for any type of care. There is zero supervision allowing your children do whatever they want or whatever they are being influenced to do. I will never recommend this place for child care. We have reached out countless times and the directors do not care to discuss the problems at hand. If you want your children to be safe, find another child care program.

Aside from my local YMCA, this is the best one I’ve ever been too. All sorts of amenities at your disposal. The multiple gyms are nice and new, and the weight areas are clean with a plethora of equipment. On the off chance you’re in this town stop by for sure!

Decent price and good family atmosphere. You can play racquetball, basketball, volleyball and swim at this gym. The weight room is decent for most needs and over all this gym is worth 4 stars.Only thing is it is a little bit rundown, or at least it feels cheap. But you are there to work out so it is really no big deal!

I have been going to this place for years! I love how much stuff they have for families. I highly recommend this gym if you have kids. Its also not a place where you have to look amazing to go to or be shy to work out in front of people. There a regular people looking to better themselves. I did have issues with some of the gym daycare teachers that they had. I stated the issue and it was resolved. They hired better teachers and have actually scheduled activities to do for kids while you are working out!

A janitor named mrs.sañta will follow you around and make her claim that she “wants to know if you have a gym membership and ask for your name” she will wait for you to come out of the bathroom and follow you out the doors! We have called ymca and complained on her.

I signed up for the “family oriented and Christian based” atmosphere, but it has been a total nightmare. The nursery workers are impatient, indifferent & biased. As a stay at home mom and oilfield wife, it would be nice to know your kids are being cared for & this just isn’t the case. I typically go for a 45 minute class and I’m finished, but i get texts from the nursery about 20 minutes after I check them in. I understand policy, but babies cry, it’s what they do. Besides, children can sense hostility. They gym, itself, is fine. Classes & instructors are great. Although, a women’s workout room would be nice.

The machines in the aerobic room are constantly breaking, the room is stuffy and they do not provide fans to circulate air. When I ask about getting fans or fixing machines I get blank stares and no real answers from staff. As I type this Im walking on a treadmill surrounded by six other treadmills that have been temporarily out of service for at least a full month now. I appreciate the YMCA for the work it does in the community and have been a long time member, but recently our Midland Y has gone downhill and even using the contact portal on the website is useless- Ive written them three times there and gotten no response. These concerns plus the restrictive and weird weekend hours make this branch more trouble than its worth, unless something changes very soon. I am a longtime member and will be terminating my family membership in January if no changes are made, not that anyone will notice, lol. Just be aware, this place can be very frustrating in spite of the good work I know they must do. (Just to be clear, im fine with broken machines and things like that, even the hours if theres a reason for them being so limited, but what has really been frustrating has been not getting any response or answer or explanation at all when I ask nicely. I work in the service industry so I know getting complaints is kind of a constant drone in a town where there are too many people and not enough time or workers to keep up with demand- just tell me that if its the case. But this gym is the most expensive one in town last time i checked, so theres a bit of an expectation that comes with the price. Just talk to me, Midland Y!)

I enjoy going to the classes zumba and mommy and me (when they had it.) Husband liked the gym and we like that sports are included for kids or had a member discount. The front desk employees are sometimes helpful other times not. However I have never meet Maribel but she was super sweet, knew answers to questions on the phone, and helpful when I asked about there cancellation policy. 👍I agree with the complaint that the pool is pretty cold. Also the steps to go down are scary dangerous. I was surprised they were not allowed to take slides/sandals to go down because the steps are wet.(Dont know if they improved, we did swim lessons last year.)The nursery was ok but definitely needs improvement. My 2 year old did not like going and cried when I left her. Older kids thought it was ok.

Nasty customer service!Wow the receptionist is so nice 🙄. I called to ask for information, she said she didn’t have anything open so I asked her is there any place she knew that would be open until 6:15 and before I could even finish my question she said “I don’t know ma’m I’m sure that’s something you could Google.” I know how to use google!!!! Duhhhhh!!! I’ve been googling, how do you think I found you?! It was just a quick question, it sucks that there’s people like that! I’m asking because I’m not from midland I just recently moved here.

Been going here for a little over 4 years now they definitely need to upgrade their weights as they are showing wear and tear. I mostly come here to play basketball even though most of the time the gym is being occupied with a class or kid function. For the price, I wouldnt say its worth it but is only one of the few places in Midland that actually has basketball courts to play on. I would suggest they expand or add a separate room for classes such as Zumba and Yoga and keep the basketball gym for basketball. The hours are definitely pretty bad too. They close too early.

Just started going here and before I signed up for a membership I read through the comments and one comment inperticular shocked me and had me a little iffy on going. dispite that persons feed back and what they had to say I still went to see how I liked it myself. im glad i did, I recieved the complete opposite from what she was sayin the front desk workers were so helpful, nice, and definitely made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I never had a gym member ship before and I had never been to the YMCA before either and one of the front desk works, Alexa I beleive her name was, really helped me out and provide me with great costumer services and great information about this place and everything they provide. I definitely look forward to going back and seeing them again, they always brighten up my day!!! I highly recommend going to this gym, especially if your new to it, like me. they make you feel so welcomed!! thank you again alexa and everyone else at the front desk!

They have decent facilities, but their hours are awful. Unless you work bankers hours you wont get very much time for a workout, and dont even plan on working out on the weekend. Not open nearly long enough. Should atleast change hours to 11pm not 9pm and 8pm on Fridays. I spend $50 a month to workout for an hour every night, but can only do it 5 days a week. Considering a change to a new gym.

2nd time around. Quit the first time because the women at the front counter have mean disgruntled spirts towards the customers. They are annoyed people. Leadership at the YMCA should be mor thoughtful in there hiring process and keep interviewing and letting people go and hiring new people until you find the right core people to surround other pop who may not have as high of a skill set as your leaders. Santa Maria, Alexa, Erika, Catalina, and some other women up front with dark hair and a pointy nose are immature, un skilled with people, bratty, annoyed, if you don’t like your job quit. Go get a security position, a driver job, or be an accountant or something.... do t work a front counter where you have to deal with people lol day.
