Victor and Joseph are absolutely amazing and they understand what it means to be in luxury hospitality! Extremely polite and always one step ahead in finding ways to accommodate your needs. The room has a beautiful view, comfortable bed and very spacious. Will definitely stay here again! If you ever find yourself in south Beach Miami. Look for Joseph and Victor at the Winter Haven
DISGUSTED!!! The pictures tell it all. During my stay I was changed to 3 different rooms and every single one smells like mildew AND dirty stinky carpet. In my first room the AC didn’t work and the room was so tiny I can barely get my luggage through the door and in the second room the AC was broke. The 3rd room was a charm…. Vomit specks on the bathroom wall, broken fridge, stained mattress, shower and sink clogged.. the maintenance man removed all the dead skin and hair from the shower drain!!! Horrible valet service and be careful where you leave your car parked!! A guest got $1000 for leaving his car in the loading dock zone! The front desk told us to leave the car in any parking space… WRONG….Winter Haven has only 2 parking spaces they can use per parking enforcement and no one should park in the loading zone spaces. OMG NEVER AGAIN.
Hotel people was very nice. All the valet parking men was very friendly and nice I wish I knew their names. The people at the desk was nice as well. The room was decent. It’s walking distance to the beach and restaurants. They gave me a 20% off discount at their restaurant. Plenty good food choices. I would definitely come back. I had the best service.
Positive: The location. Negative: This hotel is outdated, carpet was dirty and old. Old telephones with static reception. Had a ac unit in the window. The room was small. The beds were uncomfortable and hard. Needs major renovations. This hotel is a 2 star at best.partial refund is request
Ill give this hotel a NO STAR if I could DO NOT STAY HERE !!! This hotel is dirty it smells like mildew, Rooms are so small you barley can move around and hotel was outdated and so dusty. I had to switch room 3 times to still get a below average room SMH!! After moving rooms my ac was then broke!!!!!!!! and shower was clogged with a trash can full of hair and gunk and water would not drain so shower was overflowing. After a long day of problems with this hotel I requesting a refund and asked to talk to manager multiple time but I was told he was unavailable by his staff and wont be able to contact me till Monday and it was Friday . So Valet took so long youll be better off parking at a garage near by. They was also parking cars in loading zones and causing customer to get tickets. So its called valet but know was to be found to even park your car if you came back to the hotel after hours and they was charging 38 dollars a day to basically have no where or one to park your car!
This place should loose the Marriott name. Have waited over 45 minutes for valet and still waiting. The door to the room has to be slammed to secure it. The cabinet with the coffee maker on it is falling apart. The door to the bathroom is busted. The curtain is disgustingly dirty.Think twice before you stay here.
Lobby was so nice, staff was great. Room was clean but could use some updating. Was just fine for the one night we stayed. Food at the restaurant was really good.Must note there was note a mini fridge to keep things cold but on tge corner of the block right behind there was a walgreens with many amenities
It was a really nice place to spend my birthday everybody there is really nice and helpful.
My husband and I had a great stay! It was so quiet, and the staff was so helpful! We were here 4 days. We loved it!
This classic art deco is sure to delight anyone. We stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon and couldnt have been happier.. Just off of Ocean Drive, its within walking distance to great beaches, awesome restaurants and the night life of South Beach...but not in the middle of it that you cant enjoy some quite vibes at night. Cant wait to stay here again!
Older hotel, but you get what you pay for with this one. Decent service. I tend to expect more with a Marriott, but it was not horrible. Located in a great spot! Easy access to the beach. Based on other hotels in the area I recommend this one!
I got this place for $85 a night so my review will be a bit biased. We went for my 21st birthday and I loved it! Great location on South Beach and is near a couple nice clubs and restaurants, plus a 24/7 Walgreens is right across the street! The bar downstairs is okay and they discontinued free cocktails on check-in due to COVID. You can rent beach towels, chairs and bikes for free which is great, plus they also give out free water bottles at the front desk. Valet is expensive and takes forever so I recommend the parking garage one street south which costs only $20 a night. The rooftop wasnt crowed and the rooms were super clean!
Perfect location.❤ Great view of the ocean. ❤❤ Very nice rooftop seating/hangout area. The bikes were pretty cool. They gave me a bottle of wine for being a bonvoy member 😬🥂. The windows in my room didnt open though 😖, the shower was tiny and hinky (so slanted that I felt like Id slip and crack my fibula at any moment), and theres only one weird elevator that has a mind of its own. But it was pretty good overall.
It was in a great location and I enjoyed that it was smaller and staff was great. The restaurant had some great dish as well. Crazy big drinks.
LoL, autograph hotel? No freaking way! Early check in for 1pm, its 445pm, no room.Bartender didnt speak a lick of English. 6 high end, very good tequilas at the bar, no agave nectar, no simple syrup and sour mix from the gun. Bloody Mary mix from a bottle.Dont waste $500 a night.Place was full of kids with their hats on backwards and very loud youngsters.
What a beautiful hotel!!! The parking situation is problematic, but this hotel hearkens back to an era unfamiliar to most hotel goers nowadays.Spring for an ocean view room if you can. Ocean Drive is always hopping even late at night, but coming from a big city this was a feature not a bug.
Never, ever, ever, ever again. Total trash property, with garbage service. Made us wait until nearly 7pm for a room, and we were the only people waiting for a clean room.We had tried to call the front desk 7 times on the drive in to check on the room, but no one EVER answers the phone. When the room was finally available, they acted like they had done us a favor and expected gratitude. The room was small and sad. The furniture is chipped and broken and looks like they raided a thrift shop.
Great location. Staff tried to be helpful but due to how busy they were, didn’t meet all of my expectations. This is a historic building remodeled, it has some flaws but overall, a good deal for the price and Marriott name. Valet service was disappointing for the price.
A huge disappointment....Been a guest here for over two years, I will not be coming back. The staff changed since last year, still some familiar faces, but not the same service. The restaurant is mostly staff that are completely ignoring you, are not flexible with anything, and are simply waiting for you to pay and leave. I get a much better service for value at the Betsys hotel restaurant(and no rush). As for the hotel, there are better options for what you pay here on Ocean Drive. Not coming back.
Had a great dinner!Had ravioli mushroom dinners -bf small mojito which is actually big compare to NYC. Prices are same as NYC,Cary Ku thing is most reasonable restaurant on the strip. Waitress was great. Definitely recommend to try.
Nice small hotel but not worthy of a 4 star rating. Hotel restuarant food is good. Prices as like with other hotels in South Beach are pricey for lunch and dinner.
Positive: The location was key, smack dab in the middle of the action at South Beach with beautiful women, fancy cars, shopping, dining, beach access right across the street and a bustling nightlife. Excellent and friendly service by staff. Negative: Expensive valet, $40/day and must call 30 min ahead for pickup. Rooms are fine considering old style of hotel but walls are thin so beware if seeking peace and quiet as it gets rowdy on the weekends and people can be heard inside and out.
Positive: Nothinh Negative: The hotel was dirty, dingy, the pictures on your site were nothing like the rooms. It was the worst experience ever
The location is good! It is a step from the beach, nice bars and restaurants around but the hotel itself is dirty, smells funny in the rooms. The rooms are very small. There is nothing extra but you will be charged resort fee for a no pool, no extra activity hotel. If you are on a budget then that will be a good option.
Positive: The location is perfect! The rooftop was a great place to hang out during the city’s current curfew. The free bike rental was awesome, great way to tour Ocean drive. Water bottles and prompt service was appreciated. Will stay here again. Negative: The carpet throughout the hotel was kind of dingy. Rooms and elevator were on the smaller side but that’s to be expected with the age of the building.
I’d give this hotel zero stars if I could. I booked a room a month in advance and was notified before I boarded my plane that my reservation was canceled due to unavailability. I was relocated to a hotel 40 minutes away. Hotel staff was rude and not helpful when I called and I was given no explanation as to why they canceled our reservation the day were supposed to stay there. A complete nightmare!! Now I’m 40 minutes away from my family and friends and everything we had planned. The hotel itself is also old and dirty
The hotel needs to be renovated. The carpet is damp. Some rooms have mold. We stayed there 4 nights and they never come and clean your room not even when you complain to the front desk. Its just a nasty hotel never again
We came for a second time.our experience left a good memory. But a lot has changed in 2 years, much so!The clean, sleek, chic restaurant that had a glamorous pleasant allure changed drastically. The menu changed. All of the luxurious appealing decadent entrees, were gone. We looked for Italian food but there was only four entrees. Everything, I mean everything is a la carte! The service is great! The food was good. But it does not have the feel like years ago (2yr span!!) 😨
Positive: I like the food, location, and drinks. Negative: Just wish check in was a little earlier.
Nice professional staff.Great location.WiFi strength sucks. Couldn’t get wk done at all.SMALL Shoebox rooms. Felt super cluttered. Definitely not the best selection if the room ambiance matters to you.
Location in relation to the beach is great. Staff was nice. Environment is not for families. Marijuana being smoked on every corner & very loud speakers with large groups is what you can expect. Children should not be here.Rooms are very small & outdated.Coming here for 2 days of debauchery as a young person - okWith a family - 0% percent
Its an old building but you are on 14 street plenty of fun. Price is high for the smallest hotel room I ever stayed in..The hotel bicycles was my favorite...ride em South and North like 15 miles or so
This hotel is not in a favorable location for a young girl staying alone. You get cat called and men try to follow and approach and touch you. It’s not what I’d consider a safe neighborhood. This seems to be a popular tourist attraction neighborhood but not upscale. I wouldn’t recommend to any of my family or friends. The hotel is old the staff is very polite though. My room is small and cramped. This hotel isn’t what you expect from the website to in person: pay more for a different location. Young girls shouldn’t stay here.
Positive: The room was neat and clean. The staff was as helpful as their limitations. They tried their best to accommodate whatever mishaps occurred and that made it great! Negative: Where do I begin...the elevator stopped working on more than one occasion. I was stuck in the elevator without the ability to call for help on their emergency system. The lobby could use an interior designer ASAP!
Hotel is OK. A bit dated but that is understandable. The bad news it that it is in a Ghetto War Zone! Do not go!
I love staying here because of location. Raul, is an amazing employee. I know when I get there Im going to be greated by him. Every morning and night hes got a smile on his face and willing to help any way he can. My suggestion is the king room, its spacious and very comfortable in there.
Service was to spec ...and the staff deserve a lot of credit, especially in these C-19 times. However, The Winterhaven needs some love and restoration to find its former glory. Ripped/frayed carpet, broken elevator multiple times in a 4 night stay, tired bathrooms with 80s commercial tile and fixture feel (not in a purposeful throwback homage) do not fulfill on any reasonable expectation. This former gem deserves to be brought back to at least a shell of her original luster and ocean drive glory!
Hotel was nice and staff was very courteous and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. We were traveling with two bikes on our car. Hotel said no problem bringing them to our room. Only elevator was big enough for 1 bike at a time which wasnt an issue. Rooms were small but we knew it was an old hotel. Problem was that after we got our bikes up and went to take a walk around, after returning, the elevator broke down. By the morning it still wasnt working so we had to bring two bikes down from the 5th floor via the stairs.
Positive: The location was perfect, the rooms where clean and customer service was above expectations. This hotel exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be staying here again in the future. Negative: The only minor issue I had was with how small the bathrooms were. It did not make or break my stay.
I am a Titanium Elite member of Marriott (over 800 stays) and this is probably the worst Marriott I have stayed at in 10 years. The rooms are and bathroom are smaller than a cruise ship and my view was of a wall. The beds were terrible and the blankets and pillows are made of the lowest quality material. You also had to use a parking valet service off site. I originally booked for two nights, but immediately canceled my second night and went to Marriott South Stanton which was heaven compared to this hotel. It should be immediately taken off Marriott autograph
Positive: Location Negative: Room felt damp. Carpet. Blankets. And room charged my card over five times once I arrived an supposedly no one could figure out why. It was so bad they had to remove my card out of there system completely.
Positive: The location is the biggest positive to this hotel. Negative: Management is poor. Facilities are ran down. There was hair in the shower and a used dirty roll of toilet paper in the room upon arrival. My friend found hair in her coffee from the restaurant onsite. Definitely not a 4 star hotel by any means.
Great location for everything. I will stay here again.
Not what we looked forward too room smalls didnt have a review like we booked pictures DO NOT MATCH THE HOTEL ...so out dated...had to cancel with them and move to another hotel....never again
Its nice for an older hotel. The front desk is very nice and accommodating. The amenities are cute. We enjoyed the location because it is walking distance to restaurants, shopping, clubs, quick access to the beach, bike rentals, beach chairs, and water (which was all included in the fees. The staff was nice to me and my children. The only thing Id change is the decor.
Bathrooms are a little small, rooms are a nice size. Clean well lit rooms. Good tv channels. Right on Ocean Drive. Close to the beach. Part of the Marriott group of hotels. Lots of vintage architectural elements. I will definitely stay again.
3 night stay. Very clean, quiet, and the beach is right across the street. I particularly loved the rooftop access! The staff was very friendly. I wouldve rated 5 stars but not all of the amenities were available. Well be booking with this hotel again for sure
Great location in South Beach, authentic Art Deco hotel right on the middle of the action, rooms are small, staff is friendly!
Nice area. Courtney was great
Stayed two days and I was amazed at how friendly and attentive the staff were from checking, housekeeping, restaurant, all were great. Room was clean, across the street from beach. Food was delicious, they made some items for our kid that were not on the menu.
Upon arrival we were told that our reservation had been cancelled by Priceline, which was a lie. The hotel had oversold their rooms. I had reserved two beds for 3 guests and after hours of complaining and waiting they gave us a king size bed. Completely unacceptable and very little was done to accommodate this substantial inconvenience. The room was not thoroughly cleaned and the customer service was very poorly ran.
Positive: Not a single thing did I like about. Negative: Horrible hotel, carpet look so old. Rooms were so outdated. Outlets didn’t work, restroom room didn’t open all the way. Bathroom where so small. I don’t have enough words to say how horrible this room was.
Beautiful hotel. I left some items behind and Efraim and Melissa worked with me to get them returned. Great staff. Thank you. I am very grateful.
Positive: Location and very clean room Negative: Everything was amazing. I wish swimming pool would work longer.
Positive: Great location and staff was awesome. Very courteous and accommodating.
Room was a little tight but i gave it four stars for cleanliness and service. Bartenders were very good.
Location and staff wer amazing 👏
Really enjoyed my stay and experience.
Location was great, the hotel felt outdated, as most of the hotels on the south beach strip are. Service was very good. The restaurant out front was decent, overpriced as expected but had a great breakfast.
Positive: Location was great but otherwise it was mediocre. Negative: It was dirty and we were given a room with a window facing a dumpster. It was not ideal.
Room reeks of smoke. Took an Uber from the airport to this hotel and the hotel added a parking charges of $100. Not sure why this hotel is a part of the Marriott brand
PROS: location. Rooms are renovated with walk-in showers, super friendly, nice and informative staff. CONS: super old building, renovated but small rooms with tiny bathrooms, Marriott never fails to over advertise and over promise while under delivering, shocking they rank this as category six out of eight. Shocking but not surprising knowing marriott.
I just spent a Monday-Thursday, and my experience was nothing less than amazing. The location cannot be beat, especially for the price. The restaurant was delicious, and filling. The hotel staff could not be any nicer, and willing to work with you!I am a Marriot Elite and booked through the Bonvoy app, however I saw the service I recieved was given to everyone which was fantastic! I stayed in the king suit on the lobby side, 3rd floor and the room was great, with an ocean view and palm trees infront of the window, the music from the street playing it was a great experience. After the first night I wanted to change my room and experience something even better. I had heard about the top floor private patio rooms and asked to upgrade. They let me check the room out before I made the switch, and let me say room 619 is even better than my last. A private patio on the top floor. You have to walk through the rooftop go get there. It has beach/ocean, and city views from your private patio. And because the room is so high, no one is breaking there neck to look up at you. Its also on the backside of the building so its very quiet. We ate 3 times at the hotel restaurant, sitting outside in the street people watching, enjoying amazing drinks and great food. The hotel staff will take your bags if you arrive early and bring them to your room while you go explore, they have free beach cruisers to use all day(with locks), and when you want to check out the beach and water there are beach chairs on the water you can use for free through the hotel($20 if you want an umbrella, with that sun you will want it).I will always choose this hotel in South Beach when I visit now, as my experience was the best I have had in all my travels. (Book room 619)
The staff was very nice. So there were no issues there. However the picture seems as though it’s false advertisement. The room was very small and because the carpet is old, the room contains a mildew odor. The ventilation is horrible and the room is always stuffy even with the ceiling fan and air conditioning running. I would not suggest staying here for comfortability.
It was outdated but clean. Parking is a lil confusing and difficult. It sits right on the south beach strip so as soon as you walk outside its congested. I probably wont be staying here again.
Positive: Location Negative: Location is a 5 star rating, room is a 3 star, and Hotel is a 3.5 star.
HORRIBLE THE COVER HAD MILDEW THE ROOMS SMELLED HORRIBLE DO NOT GO THERE. I INFORMED THE MANAGER SHE CAME AND SCOOPED THE COVERS SAYING SHE WOULD GET ME A CLEAN ONE AND SHE DID, BUT I DID TAKE PHOTOS BEFORE SHE GOT THERE CAUSE SHE LITERALLY PICKED MY LUGGAGE UP AN GRAB THE COVERS. I ASKED COULD I GET DISCOUNTED SHE SAID YES WITH 20.00 WHICH I THOUGHT WAS NOT ENOUGH CAUSE I SPENT 624.00 TO STAY IN FILTHY. AND I NEVER RECIEVE THE DISCOUNT OF THE 20 BUCKS NEITHER RECONSIDER DO NOT COME HERE...
The employees are wonderful and they have NOT lost their charm, but the hotel itself is going down hill. The rooms need major renovations. I coughed all night long & wasnt able to breath. The smell is gross when you walk in the room.As soon as 9pm comes the pipes get loud and some sort of hammering starts. The walls are thin, I hear the couple next door all night. LolThis is my 4th and last stay. I will not be back until things are improved. Im sad, as it was 1 of my favorite hotels just because the employees treat you with respect no matter who are what you are. 🖤
Quaint, fun, a little loud and enjoyed my stay.Good for two nights!
No room service. No housekeeping. Elevator wasn’t working. Boxes in the way as I was going to my room. Room was ok. Food was good though just not sure what’s the point of the resort fee when there wasn’t any pool or anything resort like in the hotel.
A beautiful location, quiet and only steps from the beach. The free beach chairs, towels and water provided by the hotel was just the beginning of their great hospitality! The staff was absolutely wonderful and welcoming. Definitely recommend!
Negative: The rooms seemed dirty and not very well cleaned. Some of the towels in our room were already dirty and had hair upon arrival we had to ask for new ones.
Positive: The staff and location were both great!
I highly recommend this hotel. The staff are some of the friendliest and most accommodating I’ve ever experienced. The property is lovely art-deco from the lobby to the rooms. It has a great rooftop to mingle and an excellent restaurant on-site to dine inside or outside on the terrace. The beach is just across the street. I’ve reserved two more stays here before I left.
Stayed after our cruise. We were met first by Efrain who took our bags and couldn’t do enough to help us. Check in was so quick and reception staff very welcoming especially Barbaro, after we got our room keys we were told there would be a welcome drink for us from 4pm which was a lovely surprise. Room was very comfortable and high standard amenities in the bathroom. Hotel is in a great location on ocean drive with shopping, restaurants and bars and accross the street is the beach. We had a great stay and would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you Winter Haven and all the staff.
The stay at Winter Haven was very nice! We rented a vehicle to get there from our previous location and the car ended up being a huge truck. Very inconvenient in South Beach. While I checked in my husband ended up having to drive around and find a parking spot. Once the hotel staff found out the valet immediately searched out where my husband was and met up with him 2 blocks away to get our luggage. This is not typical. We were so grateful that we didn’t need to lug all the suitcases. The staff makes this hotel. So very accommodating. There is a lot of competition out there in that area. We have stayed in South Beach several times at 5 star hotels including the Ritz Carlton and Loews. This boutique hotel is small but mighty. The restaurant is also very nice as well as the lobby bar. Location is great, right across the street from the beach. Rooms are not big but it was ok for the few days. Very clean and well maintained.
Perfect location in the deco district. As is the case in most old hotels, rooms and bathrooms are small. Hotel announced at check-in that there would be no maid service due to COVID-19. This is not the first hotel to pull this stunt, but it is nonsensical. Staff is friendly. Beach service was poor and was told to bring a towel from the hotel. Seriously? Bar and hotel food was okay. No pool, and one slow ancient elevator makes facilities below average. If you are a Bonvoy devote, stick with the W.
Gross. There is no pool. “Beachfront” hotels don’t usually require crossing a major thoroughfare, or a bag search by the police to get onto the sand. Resort fees are typical, but apparently don’t cover beach towels, just antique bicycles that you would need to purchase a helmet to even ride. Room with a view? Yes, if you get excited by staring at dumpsters and garbage.Nice soaps stocked in the shower. Too bad the windows won’t stay open and there is no fan in the bathroom, so it feels like you’re getting ready to go in a swamp. But, you’re likely to smell nice if you don’t sweat it all off before you exit through the gift shop. Oh, sorry. There isn’t one of those either. Have you ever had a desert that cost $3 per ounce? I have only once before... in BELGIUM. The chocolate had been harvested by monks or something, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life. The cheesecake for the same price at the Winter Haven? Not quite the same feeling.I think paying $50 a night to stay here would be grossly overpriced. Sadly, we paid considerably more for the privilege.Again, gross.
Great location! Old and very small rooms.
Loved the authenticity of this hotel👍 the Marriott touch to a classic building in the heart of Miami Beach was great. We felt like we were amidst the art deco feel in this part of city. The staff was extremely gracious & the location couldnt have been better. My new favorite place to stay if we are going to be in Miami 😍
Positive: The staff was incredible! so friendly and accommodating. Negative: nothing
Fantastic location, historic beautiful Art Deco hotel. And one of the better restaurants and more fine dining experiences at Il Bolognese, including the service from Carlos, a great waiter who knows the menu. We look forward to seeing him every year and getting the black truffle butter ravioli!
Highly recommended, awesome spot to lay your head if your ever in Miami. The service at the front desk. The courtesy of all the employees. The pool clean. Continental breakfast. Great place. Good people
The Winter Haven Autograph Collection Hotel was so amazing. The staff was so polite and handsome!! The service that they gave you was awesome. From the check-in, to housekeeping, to bellman, to engineers to food service and the bartender. That made up for the small bathroom, but I didnt mine because I was there for relaxation and to enjoy Miami. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Room i was in was suppose to be partial ocean view and the view was an alley. The air conditioner sounded like it was working, but was just blowing air. It was cooler outside. Furniture had glass ring stains in the wood. Room seemed dated. The staff was nice and pleasant. Stayed one night u til our main hotel was ready.
Hotel stays have so many factors, but I will try and keep it simple. Staff was excellent- courteous, happy, etc. Hotel was clean, but due to the age of everything, it did not feel 100%. The price was very fair considering the area and the level of hotel. Limited amenities- no pool, no fitness facilities (unless you pay daily extra fees for off-site facility) which are important to me. They did have bicycles for use along with beach chairs and towels. Great location, if not awesome. On-site restaurant, The Bolognese was fantastic, but that is reviewed separately. Will be back if the budget calls for it as it is certainty worth it.
The first and last time i was in this place was 1991, im going to be taking another trip in 2021 when the covid is over, there was a piano in the lobby i miss playing it,
This place is horrible the stuff is very disrespectful yesterday I was rollerblading and it started to rain very hard so I went in to have a drink and they treated me spook bad like I was not paying and I ordered a drink for $15 gave bartender $20 and she didnt give me change I know I have to tip but I would have gave her a lot more if she didnt treat me like a dog and manager was very rude also. Do not go there!!!!
From the moment I walked through the door and was given a beer by the super jovial bellman/bouncer/whoever he was, I knew the Winter Haven had vibes to match its style. All the staff were very friendly and property is one that can be appreciated for its stylistic and cultural value, but staying in an old hotel has its drawback. Its haunted.Okay, okay, I joke. The main thing that comes to mind about the stay is just how small everything was. The room, the bathroom, the elevator, the front door—theyre all definitely from a different era.
Great and authentic
Excellent stay! I enjoyed the friendly upbeat staff. The rooms were excellent and very clean. Exceptional valet service. Great accommodations that come along with hotel. Front desk agent who’s name starts with an E- he was very nice and helpful! We will be back again soon, thank you!
Room size was good for Miami Beach. Convenient location to the beach, restaurants. Easy access. Staff was friendly enough. Hotel can use a bit of a refresh on its hallways—but my overall impression is that it is just typical of the hotels in this area. If you’re headed to the area for a quick stay or prefer beach over a pool this is a good place to stay.
This is an old property that has been upgraded, so the rooms are smaller and not as nice as new builds. But considering the location, the value you get cannot be beat. The older properties on Ocean reflect a charm and history of the area and I love it. It was a lot quieter than I thought it would be and service was excellent. Staff very friendly. Recommend highly if you want to be on Ocean for a reasonable price.
The Winter Haven, Autograph Collection was great. The staff was very pleasant helpful, and informative. The room looked just like the picture on the website. The partial room view along with the rooftop were amazing. Overall, enjoyed the stay and expectations were exceeded.
Big pro is its location. Unfortunately the rooms are small and outdated. The bathroom is so tiny compared with other properties in this Marriott collection which is fairly nice and high-end. The elevator needs a refresher for sure and is a bit frightening. It has some charm but really needs to be priced a bit better or updated. If you need to be on the beach it is not a bad choice but check around for nicer hotels if you don’t mind walking a block to Ocean Avenue.
Can not beat the location. excellent service, you can feel it is an unique hotel instead of a chained one. dont worry about the $20 resort fee, it worth every dollar you paid.(some website list the resort fee and destination fee separately. it is not true. you only pay one fee per day). their room is small. however it is SOBE, you wont spend whole day just in room.
Winter Haven was exactly that for the two of us from Minneapolis in January of 2019. The hotel has been restored beautifully to reflect the personality of South Beach in the 1930s. The rooms have been thoughtfully updated and designed while honoring the hotels history. The staff at Winter Haven is extremely accommodating and friendly, and welcomes every inquiry with a smile. Il Bolognese, the on-property hotel is one of the best on Ocean Drive, offering authentic, reasonably priced Italian for dinner, and delicious breakfast and lunch offerings. If you want that authentic South Beach experience, where you can walk through Lummus Park to the beach, this is your place.
