From the very beginning Amanda and the team at Stratford Funeral Home showed my family and I so much compassion and made our decision making very easy. Losing a loved one is not easy nor is planning such a sad unexpected event but Amanda and the team showed us that we were not alone and that they would do everything possible to help us get through this very difficult situation. We had previously had a terrible experience with another funeral home and the staff at Stratford showed us that even as a business that deals with such a delicate situation everyday you can still take the time to show compassion. This team went above and beyond for us. Our family is so thankful for their help throught our planning.

I lost my youngest due to a violent crime. One of the most hardest things Ive ever dealt with in life. Top it off I lived in another state. Since Im from the area, I called the team at Stratford & Evans Merced, Ca. Best choice Ive ever made.I was greated with true care and professionalism. I felt like I was apart of their family. It was a very warm, comforting experience in my time of grieving.I was given all options. My personal time with my baby. The assistance to other programs dealing with victims of violent crimes. Down to what his sister wanted him to wear at his service.His service was beautiful. He looked so at peace. The staff were so elegant. Laura Singh I cant thank you enough. Thanks for holding my hand in this heartbreaking moment for our family....

Peggy was fantastic! She works mainly at the Chowchilla office, but came to Merced to help our family. She is the sweetest. She didnt make us feel like we needed to make decisions right away or anything. We took our time and she made sure everything was perfect for us and it was beyond our expectations!

EVERY experience Ive had with Stratford Evans has been positive. The staff genuinely care about the families they serve. To say that Laura Singh is AMAZING would be an understatement; she is a dedicated Funeral Director who is patient, calming and attentive to the needs of the families during such a difficult time. She goes above and beyond and made my familys experience a memorable one despite the circumstances. Its people like her that make the difference and I cant thank Laura and Stratford Evans for the invaluable service they provide to our little community.

Ray and Ilene along with all the staff were extremely helpful. Right from the beginning, Ray adjusted his schedule to meet with my family. He kept in touch constantly up to the date of our services. Ilene went above and beyond to make sure the services for my aunt ran smoothly. She was very compassionate and had filled in the details where I had forgotten.

The people were exceptionally compassionate and concerned that all details were planned in a dignified way. The only complaint was with scheduling the graveside service. One week prior to the service I was offered any time on Fri so I chose Noon. Two days before I get a call to review the schedule and was told Fri was totally booked and not possible. I explained we had family coming from out of state and an hour later was told the service would be at 1pm. That was acceptable. Since there wasnt time to notify all interested parties of the time change we arrived at the cemetery at the originally scheduled time to visit with friends and family who didnt know about the time change and planned the service for 1pm as we were instructed. At 12:45pm we were requested by the waiting cemetery employees to get the service done because we were taking too long.Im not sure where the breakdown in communication happened but that was a bit frustrating to have our plans changed then pressured to get it over with.

The staff at Stratford Evans was very helpful, friendly, and professional. The pandemic added extra stress to an already stressful time but the staff was there and made even the limited service we were able to have be a beautiful service. Thank you!

I want to Say ‘Thank you’ for the office staffs for making me feel love by you and understanding my pain of losing my mother and brother weeks apart. This was very difficult for our family. And a big Thank you Laura for making this process as easy as possible. You are great! I will never forget.

My experience with Stratford and Evans was comforting at a very painful time. I would especially like to thank Amanda and Edna. Although at these times we are having to do all transactions differently, I felt they cared and and guided me through this difficult time with compassion and understanding.

They were a great help. Especially Ray, very patient and understanding. Took care of everything with quick and efficiently. The service was nice.

I am extremely grateful to Stratford Evans for helping me through a very sad and difficult time. I had to arrange for my mother’s cremation rather suddenly. Being new to the process and emotionally overwhelmed, Ray and other staff members compassionately and professionally answered all my questions and helped me with all aspects of the cremation. They were very understanding and thorough. They addressed all my needs and even delicately managed some of the unfortunate family dynamics that occurred. Thank you Stratford Evans staff! The office worker, Im not sure of her name but she is very rude and. To top it off, when we were prepared to see my uncle be laid to rest, buried they funeral home gave the wrong measurements so they could not lower my uncle in the ground they then had to take him back to the funeral home. It was so heartbreaking to see him go back as we had prepared our hearts for that moment. Now today again, we prepare our hearts to see him be laid to rest.

At a time of sadness when we take a loss in life stratford was so carring and understanding they really helped me get thru the worst of times the went beyound thier call of duty i really am thankful for all they have done for my loveones i highlly recomend them at your difficult time the prices are worth their survices and will work with you with patience and understanding

Making arrangements for a closed family members is always hard, however Ken answer my call when I was so ignorant at this process, and he guide me, and answer all my concern, and very good replying to e mail or call, his staff was very acknowledge tooI like thats he help me without been concerned about getting pay first, he make sure I was sastify .Ken has been informative all the time ..Very sastify so far and I will keep them in mind in the future .

Seems to be very nice people in the office but for some reason our information was mishandled, which led to frustration at a time when we were all grieving. This is a well known place, yet our family had a stressful experience here. The person who was supposed to add the obituary in Merced Sun-Star, Amanda, failed to do so. The funeral had to be by word-of-mouth. Although they were sorry, it was nothing that could be done. Friends missed the service who were waiting to find the information in the newspaper. Programs were mailed to all who missed it. The funeral director, Linda, was confused about payment after the funeral service, although a meeting took place prior and insurances were to be called. After little was being taken care of on their end and she seemed so confused, the family made insurance calls theirself. When the death certificates arrived into their office, instead of allowing family to pick them up she stated they could not be picked up until she received payment, yet the family could not make any progress with insurance benefits in order to give the payment needed because the death certificates were needed that were being held in their office. So they wanted payment and the family needed the death certificates in order to receive benefits, yet this funeral service had just taken place approximately one week or maybe two weeks prior to calls being made to family stating that payment was needed. No insurance benefits come in that quickly...so as stated, kind people here but it seems one would have to be sure that these people are doing all that they say they are going to do. For example, make sure the obituary is at Merced Sun-Star or better yet, take it yourself. Make your own calls and handle your own business instead of trusting that this funeral home will handle it all.

Stratford Evans provided our family with exceptional care, service, and compassion in our time of sorrow following the death of a family member. Their professionalism while assisting us through the funeral planning process was greatly appreciated.

This is the worst funeral home to go to. The staff are very rude and careless. They raise the prices all the time, in few different cases the prices changed, which is very crazy....how can it be one price one day and over $300 more the next day. The people that work here really dont care about you and what you are going through. We will never ever EVER go back to them. Save your money and save yourself the headache, go somewhere else!!!
