I have been going here for more than 20 years. Despite changing owners three times the barbers/ stylists are friendly and do a great job. They have always kept prices low and offer discount for seniors...cheaper weekdays than weekends by a couple dollars.

Just moved to Melbourne from out of state and needed a haircut. After surveying what shops were in town, I decided to try Gentlemens Choice and I am glad I did. I can honestly say I have found a top-notch barber shop. My search is over.It has evidently been around since 1962, and I can see why. I got an excellent haircut, by a highly skilled professional barber, for an excellent price. That is a rock-solid business plan in my book. Denise took the time to understand the mechanics of my hair, and then cut it to be a well-performing haircut. This is what makes an excellent barber, personalized service and a mastery of the craft.I will be a regular customer at this shop as long as I live in Melbourne. If you need your hair cut, want a highly skilled person to do it, and want that all for an extremely fair price, do yourself a favor and go to Gentlemens Choice in Melbourne, FL. I just had my first experience and was thoroughly impressed. Everyone was very polite and attentive. Gentlemens Choice was a great place to relax and get a trim. Their attention to detail is refreshing. This is a cash only barber that welcomes walk-ins.

New to area and needed to find a new barber. I went off the already great reviews and couldnt be happier. What fantastic, friendly, and skilled people!!! Besides the great haircut I would go back to just sit and talk with the ladies. Dont waste your time and money anywhere else, go to gentlemens choice. Low cost, skilled, and fun. I just moved into the area and found this barber shop through all the positive reviews. I had the similar experience today!! I spent a number of year in the Marine Corps and this is one of the best haircuts I have had. Great staff friendly and professional! Highly recommended!!

TERRIBLE barber shop. Ive had my hair cut here twice and both times have left disappointed. The first time the hair cut was just sloppy, long strands mixed with short and a messy fade. The second time the barber just ignored me when I said Im trying to grow out the hair on top and to leave the length as is. He just decided to do whatever he wanted. I lost two plus months of growth.Youre better off going to the zoo and handing a pair of scissors to a monkey. I honestly think youd still walk out with a better haircut. This is by far the worst barber shop Ive ever been to. How can you just ignore what your customer asks for?!Never get your hair cut here.

Not for the introverted person. The cut was high quality but the guy there was pretty pushy on how the cut should look. I ended up with something quite different than what I asked for because I was to passive to tell him no.

She did not even want to listen to how i wanted my hair cut, i did not like the way it came out she was very fast because she wanted to get the next customer that was waiting i told her you left a lot of hair on the top of my head, she was rude and started arguing! Wont come back & 👎 not recomended.

Some barbers talk to much and take to long to cut a simple haircut.

No matter what hair you have you should totally go. I have been there multiple times, and every time I go, there is some really amazing and nice staff. There has never been a time I walked out unhappy, they are fantastic and do a super clean job. Id recommend it to anybody!

Today was my third time visiting this place. Each time Ive had a different barber. First Lori, then Myrna, and today a guy whos name I didnt get. My first two haircuts were terrific. This one, not so much. I got a hard line fade and the line was more like a landing strip. Its as wide as a pinky. Who does that?? Why would my barber think it was even remotely a good idea to start so wide instead of thin then asking my opinion? To top it off, it cost me an extra dollar for the line which makes no logical sense at all. He shouldve paid ME for this mistake, not charged me more. If I hadnt received great cuts from Lori and Myrna I would probably never return here again. The fact that the owner was there today and didnt care the slightest bit about my concern or giving me a discount also bothers me. Between this experience and the fact that they only accept cash (food trucks and flea market vendors even take cards now) is why I give a three-star rating. Hopefully todays poor experience was just a fluke. Ill give them another chance.

Always an EXCELLENT haircut and wonderful people. I go regularly, and alway enjoy the conversations. Business seems to be picking up more, recently, so I do recommend calling for an appointment. They are true professionals!

The guy at the far barber chair finished my hair and gave me attitude because I have a few straglers. Quote I went over the top 3 times. He would rather send someone out with a bad hair cut than finish the job. The guy next to him cut my sons hair and would not honor my military discount. Its a dollar dude, not a big deal. You heard how disrespectful your coworker was and still proceed to be unprofessional. Maybe it was because my son has darker skin than mine? You be the judge. I never give bad reviews; thank you guys for being my first. I only went here because Powells Barber Shop, the guy across the street, was closed for helping out with the hurricane. Next time I will wait for my hair cut because Powells Barber Shop are always professional and kind.

Today was my first time trying out this Barber Shop. I brought my three boys (9 & twin 5 yrs olds) and I am extremely happy with the results. I have tried a few other places and was not satisfied at all. What makes me the most happy is that ALL three of my boys LOVE their hair cuts (my oldest was very nervous because of past cuts that he hated). I will absolutely make this Barber Shop my Go To place for their haircuts and I highly recommend it.

They had me at being open on Sundays. Im going back because they do a fantastic job. Very clean cut, good attention to detail, good housekeeping and reasonable pricing.

First time going here and it was a great experience! Kim was super nice (took me in 10 minutes before closing) and she did a great job! I think Ive found my go-to barber shop in the area. Definitely recommended!

I have been going to Gentlemans Choice for over 15 years now and have never had a bad cut. I have been bringing my 12 year old son with me for as long as hes been able to get his hair cut. The staff is always pleasant to us, going out of their way to make sure we are satisfied before leaving the chair.I have read the other reviews and am surprised that anyone would have had a bad experience there, though I think I can imagine who the barber at the time may have been, and he is no longer there.The previous owner, John, when available, gave excellent cuts, but when he was backed up I never shied away from having any of the ladies cut my hair, and I am far from senior citizen status.Even since the new owner Kim took over, I still get the same great cut at the same great price with the same great atmosphere. I definitely recommend them for anyone needing a quick cut while in town, or someone local looking for a new, permanent barber.

Ive just moved to Melbourne, and when I needed a haircut I came upon this place and gave it a shot. Im very glad I did, because that was the best haircut I think Ive ever had! Highly recommended, very nice people to boot.

I have been going there for 28 years and NEVER have I had a cut I did not like. I looked long and hard for a barber in 1988 as I am very particular. This was the best shop in town, in my opinion, and still is. Flavio is my preferred barber and he consistently gives me the best cut. I could not recommend him more highly. Great friendly people in this shop over the years. Kiki has hired an impressive staff of professionals. I will not go anywhere else even though it is 45 min drive 1 way.

First and last visit to this establishment. The gentlemen who cut my hair reeked of cigarette smoke, which was an automatic star off. My second warning that I ignored was not having the chair turned around to face the mirror without having to ask. After this, while trying to describe the cut I wanted, I was cut off with an, ok ok.Surprise surprise, it wasnt what I asked for. When I then described again, he got annoyed because he basically needed to redo the cut. Once he finished, it was still not what I wanted, but I let it be, as it wasnt terrible looking, and I was afraid that Id have no hair left before he accomplished what I asked for.Dont come here unless youre fine with a pushy barber who only wants to do what he wants to do. The only reason Im not giving it one star is because I dont have to go somewhere else to have my hair fixed.

Went in there with my hair a mess thinking it was not going to be able to be fixed but Kim fixed it up and I love it now! My grandpa has been a loyal costumer since hes moved to Melbourne and I can see why.

Have been coming here for 15 years. The new owner is great, as was the previous owner, who still works Tuesdays and Thursdays.As for the review criticizing the walk in policy.....myself nor my 2 sons have ever had that issue, so perhaps it was an unique situation that day.

Just moved all the way from Pennsylvania to Florida. Only been in Melbourne for about two weeks and scoured every local Barber and Hair Salons reviews. Gentlemans Choice was the only place that didnt have an excessive amount of bad reviews, and the few that were you could tell would never be happy with anything. Called them up for an appointment at their earliest for myself and a friend, and boom. Told us we could come in right away and I have to say it was one of the best experiences getting my hair cut Ive ever had. When they say its a family experience its not just your family but theirs as well. Everyone inside was talkative, customers and staff alike, and they never allowed a dull, silent moment like most other places. I honestly felt like i could just sit on the couch and talk to them all day, maybe even pay too. Kim was excellent, I gave my opinion on what I wanted and away she went. I asked for her proffesional opinon as we went but she never did anything without asking and always valued my opinion as a customer above all else. Between what I walked in expecting and her expertise I walked out with the best cut Ive ever had. The only dissapointing part was Google not allowing me to give them anything over 5 stars.

My husband and our son needed a hair cut. We stopped here because Powells Barber Shop was closed. Big mistake. They were not kind and looked at our son and my husband with a face when he asked about getting the military discount for our sons hair cut as well. Yes my husband is fair skin blue eyed man and our child looks very spanish as his mother is spanish. Needless to say it was not a very pleasent experience quite uncomfortable and ackward. I can assure that my boys will not be returning to this shop.

NOT EVEN A REAL BARBER SHOP. I was brought in by the high reviews, but I will not be returning. They did a terrible job on my hair the day before my family Christmas get-together. They dont even have a barber license so they cant edge with a razor. Do yourself a favor and FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE!
