At Caring Counseling Ministries, those are the erroneous beliefs, or negative mindsets, that we seek to relieve. And though we are unapologetic about our Christian worldview, we do not limit our services to that population. We do not use the bible to diagnose anyone (we use the DSM-5, the standard classification of mental disorders used by mental health professionals in the U.S.), but we do use the bible to instill hope. After all, in a world that thrives on bad news and negativity, we are all desperate for hope. The literal translation of the word gospel is good news, and we are happy to share it!

The great thing about getting counseling is that you have trained professionals who understand that mental illness is due to an actual, physical disease of the mind, a chemical imbalance, etc.You have people who will listen to you, without judging, and help you with practical ways that you can go about dealing with your mental illness.The terrible, horrible thing about this place can be found on their website, proudly stated by them:“What makes our Christian counseling different from other counseling services is that we do not view most mental health problems as diseases as much as symptoms of an erroneous [incorrect] belief system.”If you can, without ever meeting me personally, judge my spirituality based on my mental health, then youre either uneducated or a disgusting person. Regardless of which category the staff falls into, you shouldnt be working in a field that helps treat mental illness if you fall into either one.If you want me to pay you so that you can sit across from me and tell me that the only reason that I suffer from clinical depression is because I dont have the exact same belief system as you, then you need to quit your job, sell your business, and go do something thats more your speed, like working at a gas station.I am actually incredibly disgusted with this business. I am disgusted with the people that feel as though they can diagnose me using the Bible. I am disgusted that Kent Mattox would found a place that would undermine the validity to anyones life-threatening mental illness.
