I booked a family trip with Captain Kevin for May 30, 2021, there were 5 of us going fishing with him with all different levels of experience. He was excellent in every fashion...from fishing gear, to fishing knowledge (he got us on fish), to preparation with bait, and dealing with all different experience levels.We had originally booked a reef fishing trip, but the reef fishing had been poor because of water clarity issues. The captain called us the day before and explained this to us and asked if we would be interested in doing a different type of fishing. I yielded to his knowledge and expertise, and I am glad I did! It turned out to be the best day of fishing I had experienced in the keys yet.If you and your family or friends are looking for a knowledgeable charter fisherman who is kind and great to work with, then look no further. I will definitely book another trip when I get back down to the keys!

Capt. Kevin did a great job getting us on the fish and bringing them in. Told us what to do, showed us what to do, stayed patient while we gradually learned what to do. Our catch made for a delicious dinner, too!

Booked with Captain Kevin for a future trip! Not sure what the fishing is going to be like (will post review tomorrow) however, communication from the beginning of my search has been awesome. Kevin knows quite a bit about where to anchor to successfully catch fish, when to pull up and start reeling, etc. However, my family and I were surprised at his responses to comments and lack of friendly conversation. Typically when in a small group, people converse. We asked him questions about fishing, where he was from, etc. He never asked us anything about ourselves, and, his responses were not kind. Maybe we caught him on a bad day?

I had recently been on the fishing charter with Kevin a few days ago with my 3 other family members and it was very poor :(The fishing itself was really fun! We caught a good amount of fish (yellow snappers, grouper, houndfish, etc. which were good given the hot and sunny conditions) so in the professional aspect, Kevin took us where the fish were, but his attitude was so very unprofessional.Right from the beginning, he made sarcastic responses to all of our questions or comments, so we definitely got the idea that he was in a poor mood. We learned that his prior customers broke one of his poles earlier that day, so we concluded that was why he was mad, but it does not constitute being short, distant, and rude to your customers, especially for such a job literally based on a service.In conclusion DO NOT BOOK THIS GUY. I usually have patience for things of this sort and dont write reviews, but his actions warrant a huge warning to future customers. Save yourself the trouble and book one of the many other guides in the keys!

My day fishing with Capt Kevin was, hands down, the BEST DAY fishing on the water since moving here to Marathon almost 5 years ago. On the reef, he was able to find meaty Yellowtails to put in the cooler with the wind blowing one direction and current ripping the other. I pulled up a beautiful, protected Nassau grouper that we released. He took us to a wreck and my husband caught a Mutton snapper to add to our dinner plates. But flat lining and wreck fishing werent enough for Kevin and he drove us out to 600+ feet of water to deep drop where we pulled in a blue line tile fish and snowy grouper! When we spotted some tuna chasing bait, Kevin switched gears and rigged us up to go trolling. Ive never experienced the array of fishing methods, different rods, and variety of fish on a boat IN ONE DAY. A very important side note: his boat is extremely comfortable, clean, with a protected indoor bathroom for the ladies. We only had to exercise a little patience while he chummed the fish and, as a direct result of Kevins expertise, spent the entire day basking in the pure joy of catching fish. No need to look any further, for anyone just visiting the Keys or if you are a local in search of a memorable day on the water, Kevin is the BEST.

Captain kevin is awesome. My wife and i went out with him. he uses light weight gear so you can really enjoy the fishing.we caught our tuna limit in the first 30 minutes and then we chased down some dolphin pulled 3 in the boat! What a great trip and a great Captain will be back for sure!

Kevin is so knowledgeable about the area. My friends and I have chartered with him twice, both times we caught a bunch of fish! The boat is awesome, lots of room & you can’t beat the Beautiful Blue Waters of the Keys! Can wait for Captain Kevin and Florida Keys Reel Adventures to show us another amazing Adventure!! 5 star!

Capt Kevin again this year for my birthday. I was worried I wasnt going to have a real birthday this year because of the virus. I chartered him a few years ago for a mermaid photo shoot and wanted something similar. He took us out to a beautiful island and we had the most perfect day. He has a very nice bigger boat that had room for all of our stuff. Even a fresh water shower and a bathroom. His last boat didnt have that. He was a great captain and made sure everything was taken care of so we could relax. If you are into the mermaid thing, this was a really fun way to celebrate my birthday. Capt Kevin worked so hard to make my trip awesome again! Im bringing a bigger group next year!!

I’ve never been fishing where I caught so many fish! Brought home 13lbs + of fish!

Captain Kevin took me out on a surprise fishing trip! Ive never had so much fun! The best part was that it was educational! Hes teaching you how to fish properly and it makes a hell of a difference! Capt. Kevin took me out to the reef for a little fishing and it was a BLAST! We saw so many colorful fish and even a shark. Catching the fish was the most fun though. It took no time at all to catch our limit. After we caught all the fish we went for a little snorkel at the reef and learned more about the Florida keys ecosystem. It was an amazing day!

Captain Kevin has taken me out in the past on numerous occasions. From fishing to hanging at the sandbar. Always a REEL great time. Captain Kevin is a extremely competent boat Captain and his equipment and vessel are ship shape. His ability to put you on the fish and make you feel part of the crew was the best part. I’ve become a better angler on my own after taking a charter with FLKRA. Highly recommend FLKRA and Capt. Kevin.

We had a great time with our captain Kevin. He treated us like royalty and we caught big fish. It was raining in the morning and he suggested we stay and fish after the cell which was a great decision. The sun was out and we caught lots of fish. I caught a huge mutton snapper and a huge grouper. Kevin took great care of us and made sure we were fishing good spots. We saw a sail fish but we were unable to hook it. Very exciting!!!! My next trip to the keys I will definitely be fishing with Kevin!

Fantastic day on the water with Captain Kevin hooking us up with a lot of different species. This Captain knows his boat- knows its gear & knows his fish. Myself and 4 friends went on a recent spearfishing trip with captain Kevin. He was communicating with us months ahead to prepare and educate us on what we needed to know (By the way, fish identification is huge). On the water, Kevin was very helpful while we were in the water. He continues to teach you about the sport throughout the trip. Also, Kevin fished from the back of the boat while we were spearfishing to help us with fish identification as well as to ensure we had plenty of meat to take home.

I appreciate Kevins frankness of what spear fishing is all about to a green horn. He was very blunt about what can and cant happen when spearfishing and didnt candy coat it at all. It can be dangerous, it can be scary but it is awesome! We had one helluva a good time shooting fish that he put us on right away despite the visibility being poor. I intend on doing another charter with him this spring. Thank you!

I recently went out with Captain Kevin for a first time spear fishing trip with a group of friends. Kevin was very friendly and ensured that we were on fish. As first timers, we made many mistakes, but Kevin was very helpful. He gave great tips on technique and communicated very well describing reef structures that we fished and explaining where we should look for fish. We had an absolute blast with everyone spearing a couple fish (and missing many more). I highly recommend Kevin if you are looking for a great time in the keys. We will definitely be using him next time we are in the area.

This was one of the best days of my life! Kevin took us out for snorkeling and all around fun times and thats what we got. By the end of the day we had seen a giant Lagerhead turtle, a few small sharks, tons of fish, coral reef, sunken boats and actually saw and swam with dolphins!!! His boat was safe, comfortable and fully equipped. My whole group felt completely comfortable being in Kevins hands and I would 100% highly recommend this to anyone and everyone! Great for families, groups of friends or anything in between.

I recently went on a fishing trip with captain Kevin. He took us on our first spearfishing adventure. He was extremely helpful at conveying skills to ensure our success. We were on the fish all day and brought many home. Although we did not do any rod and reel fishing Kevin caught many out of the back of the boat to help us with fish identification, and I have no doubts that he puts all of his rod and reel clients on fish all day. Kevin was funny, understanding of our lack of skill, and very easy to get along with. I will 100% be coming back to fish with Kevin again.

The best guide in the keys! He can accommodate any group and any age. If you wanna have some fun on the water, this is the guy to call. His boat is pretty sweet too.

As our first experience spear fishing, Kevin took the time months before the trip to communicate the skills needed for a successful trip, as well as fish identification. On our half-day trip, the information we learned from Kevin before the trip enabled us to have a fun, safe, and successful day. He was extremely understanding of our lack of experience in the sport, and instead of becoming frustrated, he worked with us to better our chances of shooting fish. We killed over ten fish, but had the opportunity to kill many more. While in the water, Kevin fished off the back of the boat to ensure that we came home with plenty of fish, as well as aiding us in fish identification. We highly recommend Kevin and we will definitely be return customers.

Ive been fishing for over thirty years and I can honestly say my experience with Captain Kevin was quite possibly the best fishing Ive ever had. We caught so many tuna, as well as, a variety of other fish. If you want real fishing adventure, Florida Keys Reel Adventures is where its at!

Captain Kevin took us out and got us on fish within minutes. This guy knows what hes doing and makes sure everyone is having a good time. We have been out on a number of fishing charters and have never had as much fun as we had today. This is a a must do adventure for anyone that wants to put fish in the boat.

Sorry I ment to write a review before I posted. I was with Dominics group, the only reason Im giving you 1 star is because there is not anything lower. Yes we were late that morning and a bit tired from the night before, thats why people come to the Keys, to have a good time. I give you props you did put us on fish, however that in know way makes up for your attitude. You have the worst customer service EVER!!! We chartered for six hours and we paid you for six hours, so I dont know how we wasted your time and why your crying about money. Google and trip advisor are not damaging your business you are. Maybe you should remember your customers do have a right to their opinions, seeing you lash out gives more credence to your negative reviews.. good luck.

Here is five stars for the awesome trip, truly an amazing experience

Our group of 6 met with Captain Kevin at Captain Hooks and he confidently proclaimed we would catch 30 fish with no problem. Not only did we limit out (5 per person for a total of 30) we did it in less than 3 hours! We were surrounded by 4 other boats loaded with people and saw them reel in a total of 3 fish. Captain Kevin took the time to teach us how to feel the fish take the bait, how long to let them take it and start reeling, just when to break their face by setting the hook, and how to get the fish in the boat. The people on the charters around us must have been saying I sure picked the wrong captain as they watched us reel in fish after fish after fish. Captain Kevin was the consummate professional, his boat was clean and fast, and he deftly handled the baiting of our hooks, telling us how long to let the fish take the line (based on the size of the bait) and was full of tips and words of encouragement. THE ONLY CAPTAIN I WILL EVER USE!!!!!!

As a follow up to your response: I am not from dominics group and I wasnt late for anything.Though your reply --which had nothing to do with my* review--is exemplary of your wonderful attitude towards peopleI had an awful experience with Kevin. He may be knowledgeable but hes an absolutely rude, cold and arrogant person to spend a day on a boat with. If you want to see the real captain Kevin, just read any of his responses to the negative reviews about him on TripAdvisor. He rambles on for pages and pages about how stupid his clients are, how they dont tip him enough, and so much more. Its interesting that most of his good reviews pile up right after the bad ones and are predominately from new accounts with no other review. Hmmm. In my opinion this fisherman should not be in any service or tourism industry.
