Our worst nightmare happened a few days ago to our beloved 2-yr old pup Piper. Dr. Phil and the staff at VECM did everything they could and their compassion and care was remarkable during this difficult ordeal. I wish we could thank each of them personally. While it was not the outcome we wanted, we are still very thankful for the fact that she was in the best place possible. Thank you for all you do day in and out to help the animals (and their humans) in their most difficult moments of life.
Although I only had Princess Angela in my life for a short time, she & I had bonded and I loved her very much. I took her in as a 12 year old so that she could live out her retirement comfortably; not in a shelter. I truly hoped that we would have more time together but I dont regret one minute of having her. On Monday she crossed the rainbow bridge. It was gut wrenchingly sad & I was an emotional wreck, even though I knew I was doing what was in her best interest. Dr. Pascoe & Christin showed compassion, patience & a deep sense of caring for both my fur baby & me. I appreciate their kindness and respect. Thank you and I owe you at least a box or 2 of tissues.
Leonidas, my 7 y/o German shepherd has an ear infection and unfortunately his primary vet is booked out until November. There was no way I was going to wait so I called several other vets. Come to find out they were all booked out that far out. I was told to try VECM, and I’m so glad that I did! They recommended I come in super early morning because it gets busy (understandably so) and we were taken care of within an hour or so! The staff was awesome, and Dr. Steve was fantastic! You could tell how much he loves animals. He was very knowledgeable and very kind! Leonidas was given the proper attention and medication and will be fine in no time.
Went in for an emergency call at night for my cat Lillith, knowing she was old and fearing the worst. The wait was extensive even though it seemed like there werent many patients, even though I felt my need was urgent, there were other pets who needed care and who could be helped, the triage was correct as her time had come. Dr. Crowley was knowledgeable and professional and the nurses were compassionate. The staffing is short, as it is everywhere these days, but they did the best they could.
My dog had a minor accident this morning which wasn’t life threatening, but needed attention. From start to finish, every one of the staff members I interacted with were kind and helpful and efficient, in particular Jennifer in triage and Stephanie in reception. We waited a while, but there were plenty of other much more emergent cases that rightfully were given priority. If I am ever unlucky enough to have the pet who is rushed straight back, I’m glad that this hospital will be there for us.
Make sure your animal is in visible distress before coming here & be prepared to wait; To the staff: ACUTE RENAL FAILURE IS DISTRESS.I did my due diligence and read the reviews before calling ahead to see if they could help my 8 year old Norwich Terrier (Milo). I was told that yes they could see my Dog, and if I filled out the online registration before arriving it would be quicker when I arrived. I was never told of LONG wait times, or animals in visible distress being seen first. I arrived within half an hour of speaking to them, and was told to take a seat, I would be assessed and it would be determined if my Dog was an emergency or not. After a short wait the tech listened to my explanation of what was transpiring listened to his heart, and determined he was not in distress. Keep in mind my dog had vomited on their floor, as well as had diarrhea on me while we were being assessed. I was not told how LONG the wait would be, just that Emergencies were seen first. So I sat and waited. I waited for 5 hours before asking how much longer and if my dog could be reevaluated. It took another hour to be reevaluated and again I was told he was not in distress that there were at least 2 people ahead of me not including emergencies that may come in. It would be AT LEAST another hour before the possibility of a vet to evaluate Milo, run bloodwork and take it from there (unless there was another emergency). It was 10pm at this point, and after being told Milo wasn’t in distress, I made the difficult decision to go home, and at least make Milo comfortable till I could get him to my vet in the morning. I waited almost 7 hours at Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester and received little care. After a visit to my usual vet, it was discovered that Milo had acute renal failure possibly brought on by leptospirosis. RENAL FAILURE IS DISTRESS AND IF YOU HAD RUN BLOODWORK WHEN I ARRIVED YOU WOULD HAVE DISCOVERED IT. Milo was euthanized a few days later after CAVE in Concord did everything possible to save his life. I will always regret having waited those long hours, and know I made Milo suffer more than he needed to. CHANGE your assessment practices, it may save someone’s beloved pet.
The staff and doctors were absolutely wonderful when I had to bring in my cat to be put down. I was given a private room with a couch to spend time with him before the procedure. Everyone was extremely kind and compassionate and afterwards I was sent a beautiful sympathy card..
... Still waiting to be seen after an hour and 15 minutes. Its because its early in the morning and only have 1 Vet on during night hours. Although theyve been accommodating
The vets and technicians took excellent care of our cat who was suffering from seizures and other health problems. We were able to bring her home and enjoy several more weeks with her before she became too ill. When it was time to make the big decision, the vet who examined our cat was very kind and understanding, and provided us with the information we needed. The procedure to say goodbye to our kitty was handled so beautifully with kindness and care for our kitty and for us. We are grateful to everyone involved, including the administrative staff.
We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved boxer Forrest and the entire staff at the clinic showed so much care and compassion during the process. Although its never easy to say goodbye to a special pet, the staff helped make the experience one of caring, compassion and dignity. We couldnt have asked for anything more. Thank you.
One of the nicest experiences I have had in Veterinary care. Thanks to their skilled and professional and most courteous staff my beagle April is 100 percent well again.. Their care, compassion and knowledge are top notch and they are reasonable with their costs and let you know upfront what may be needed and the cost. The assistants and Dr. Robinson are wonderful and so very caring. The staff at the front desk are so polite and kind, The staff member that helped me at checkout was such a nice person and created a really great impression with her smiles and cheerful, professional help. An overall beautiful experience with a great outcome. Thank you to everyone from my beagle April and her Mama.
We brought our Mia here for a second opinion after seeing her primary Vet.The staff was amazing, explained everything and welcomed us warmly. We helped Mia cross the 🌈 bridge at their center. The staff cried and showed us compassion, sympathy and love.We had a traumatic loss and the staff made us feel cared about.Thank you to the entire staff for your support during a difficult time.
Immediate vacation-day admission for our 15-yr old cat; immediate diagnosis and treatment; cat succumbed the next morning quite abruptly; no symptoms were missed by staffWe were sent a complete log of our cats treatment history via our local vet and it was clear that staff was attentive and tried appropriate measures when cat went into distress.Staff was patient and gracious in communications with us.Overall, a heartbreaking outcome but some comfort from clear evidence that our cat was treated very well by staff.
My dog Apple had a bot fly. Called my vet who told me I need it taken care of right away but they couldn’t see us and basically told me good luck. I knew the emergency vet was going to be busy and overwhelmed. Was told when we walked in the wait is unknown and maybe waiting well into the night. Which I already assumed. We were seen a lot quicker than expected, they took great care of my little dog and removed that demon bot fly. As over whelmed and busy as they are here everyone was smiling and stayed professional! Everyone doing the best they can with a smile on their face.
Ive received excellent care here over the past 2 years. Ive now had all 3 of my dogs seen. 3 for 3 would get a 5 star rating! They were able to quickly assess my girl yesterday afternoon. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. The technician Amber was very nice and took the time to explain everything to me. Nice job everyone!
I had the best experience when I brought my dog in. The staff was extremely nice and took us in right away. However last night I brought my cat in at 12-ish in the morning and from the moment I picked up the phone the woman who ran the front desk was a complete nightmare. Every word that came out of that woman’s mouth was rude and unprofessional. She brushed me off and said my cats possible ear infection isn’t seen as important enough. Funny though because my dog didn’t have anything serious and I was treated way better by different staff. I hope that woman understands that we don’t care about other peoples animals there which she had to make known. I’m super sensitive and loving of all animals however when we bring in our own that’s all we’re thinking about, we’re scared because we have no idea if it will be a simple visit or be told heartbreaking news. I hope things get better here.
I have a super anxious dog, especially if I am away from her. But she was so sick and needed to be seen. From Jennifer (triage tech) to Dr. Robinson, to Shayne, my best friend had the best care I could have asked for! They kept me up to date on everything that was happening, were extremely thorough and very understanding of my concerns! She is now feeling so much better! Would recommend 100%!
My pup Callie went into labor and unfortunately had to have an emergency c-section. We brought her to VECM and they took such good care of her! They were so patient and called me every hour to give me updates! I definitely recommend them. Thank you Dr. Crowley and her team for delivering 4 healthy puppies!
I keep meaning to write a review for this place, and having had to call tonight has reminded me to do so.In late April my familys 16 year old chihuahua was nearing her time to go to the rainbow bridge. She was fully blind, but still had an appetite and enjoyed being taken for walks (in a doggy stroller), so we were just taking it one day at a time.Lily (pups name) had developed COPD in the last few years of her life, and this particular condition was worsening the older she got. One night at around 2:30AM I heard her struggling to breath. It was absolutely THE most heartbreaking sound Ive ever heard. My mom and I called this emergency vet, knowing that the time had come to make this difficult decision. Every single person we spoke with and encountered here was so incredibly compassionate, patient, and capable. When we arrived they had us call and I brought Lily up so they could get her started on an IV.They let my mom and I sit in this little screened in porch area while we waited for Lily to be brought in to us. The vet tech brought Lily in and she was all bundled up in warm, comfy blankets. The vet explained everything to us and Lily was able to pass peacefully. They told us we could call whenever was convenient the next day to come pick her up (our regular vet did the cremation). They did a lovely paw print and sent a very thoughtful condolence card.I cannot even express how grateful I am to the staff.Tonight, I noticed my senior cat seems to have some sort of toothache. I called here to see if I should bring him in or wait until my vet opens at 8AM (its currently 2AM). The woman I spoke with was incredibly patient and understanding and answered all my questions. This has to be SUCH a difficult business to be in, and I cannot thank the staff enough for being there for my pets when Ive needed them.
Our sweet boy passed away and the staff was nothing short of amazing. They kept checking on us and gave us all the time in the world
Our Pit Bull swallowed a golf ball and we were concerned about how to get it removed before serious problems occurred. Dr Levesque and Meg who advised us on all the options were outstanding, and then finding a solution with bringing in a specialist, Dr Faith Buckley who was successful in removing the golf ball without having to do surgery. Very professional ++++++
Went there today with my dog Casey with Dr. Major. The staff was extra friendly and worked with my dogs special needs since she was abused before we got her. The facility was clean and very nice inside and out. Highly recommend for emergency vet needs and will return if I ever need an emergency vet again.
I brought my old dog Murphy to this Emergency Vet Center to have him put to sleep. He was 18 years old and struggling with several age related maladies. I was taken aback by the compassion and sensitivity that I was greeted with. I was brought to a quiet room where the vet joined me and my pup. Dr Hyde was very kind and understanding. He helped Murphy out of his suffering gently and quietly. Thank you Dr Hyde. You made a very difficult experience a lot easier
I travel full time so sometimes when my dogs have problems, my primary vet is several states away. My dog Bailee has a fast growing cyst on her leg that needs to be removed. Every vet I called said it would be weeks before they could see her to evaluate then more weeks until surgery. When I called Veterniary Emergency Center, I explained my situation and asked it they could help. They said yes. So I loaded Bailee into the car for the 1+ hour drive. When we saw the triage nurse she said “probably not but the doctor makes that decision.” I asked what options I have and she said only a regular Veterniary office. So I had to wait over 3 hours to be seen by the veterinarian. After a short exam, she said she would not remove the cyst because it was not an urgent issue even though it is already infected. Although she won’t remove it, she wants my dog to wear an inflatable collar to keep her from licking it. Wear it for months? To add insult to injury I was charged almost $300 for the evaluation and an antibiotic to clear the infection in the cyst. Why did the receptionist tell me they could take care of it? Why did the triage nurse say it was the doctors decision? Why does my dog have to suffer? When she gets these cysts they are small, they are easier and less risky to remove. It has quadrupled in size in one week. By the time I can see a doctor to get it removed it will be urgent and the surgery will be more invasive and involved. Why should an elderly dog have to wait until it is urgent to have it removed? My poor dog.
A few months ago, our 5 year old Lab attempted to eat his weight in kibble, which we did not discover until a few hours later when we saw that he looked like he was 9 months pregnant. Knowing that he was at high risk for bloat, we called VECMNH & they told us to bring him right in. As soon as we rolled into the parking lot, a tech came out to get him. Another person talked me through the admission process while we waited in the parking lot. He ended up needing to stay there for about 24 hours. At all times, we were kept informed of his status and we felt so relieved that he was in the hands of these compassionate professionals. We were grateful beyond words that he had a good outcome and that they were there for us in our time of need. Covid made their work so much more challenging but they have made the absolute best of it. We are so lucky to have them.
The staff at VEC are AMAZING! A year ago they saved our fur babys life and it is so comforting knowing that anytime I call with a question about his medications and other health questions they are always polite, knowledgeable and prompt with returning calls and they never ask if he has been seen by them before, they genuinely just want to help. I would 100% recommend them to anyone who needs urgent care for their furry family members! Thank you everyone at VEC!
Needing an emergency vet is never in anyone’s daily plans for our fur babies. I found myself having to make the end of life decision for my 13 year old Boxer for me this was so devastating I can’t even express my distress. This ER had a room just for end of life so this devastating moment could be as unrushed and respectful as possible. The compassion from all staff made one of the hardest moments into a supportive decision of love for my baby girl. No judgment just support. The staff and environment helped me say good bye. Thank you.
I am very greatful to all the staff and vet who treated my dog Isis today. It was a sad day when we had to say goodbye to her. They made everything comfortable for her and us and went out of there way to make sure we had memories and keepsakes. Thank you so much for all that you did. Heather and family.
This place is disturbing, a lot of people laughing and showing zero sympathy for emergency care, no one wants to hear jokes when their friend is dying. Get it together, if it was an actual emergency there is no reason to laugh and play around. I’d give it zero stars if I could, at least concord could help my other buddy without me waiting a million years.
Was told my lethargic not eating dog had a slow heart beat and the triage technician and seemed concerned.. Took my dog in after a half hour wait.. I get it.. Its an ED for pets.. Waited 3 hours in an empty parking lot while my scared dog sat in a crate..alone unattended and uncared for.. No water nothing... These people arent human.. I wonder how they wouldve felt if it was their dog of 17 years.. Poor excuse for a vet..
Absolutely horrendous customer serviceMy dog suffered a broken paw. Called first thing in the morning & was told to come down & wait in the parking lot until called to come in. I was told ahead of time it’d be a 1-2hr wait. Fair enough...I arrived, checked in & began waiting. I called at the 2hr mark & was told to still wait because there were a few animals ahead of mine. At the 3.5hr mark I called again & was told to still wait. This time, the receptionist was clearly bothered by my calling a second time after waiting 3.5hrs by responding something to the effect of, “yeah, I know you are waiting...”This is when I started calling other vets. I found one 3towns away who could take me right away, so I left. At the 5hr & 15min mark, this place finally called. This is a completely unacceptable business practice!!!
The staff here is great and you can tell that not only are they extremely knowledgeable but they are very compassionate as well. I have brought my puppy to VECM twice in the past 6 months when our regular vet was not open and both times we received excellent care. Yes, the wait is long, but that is because they see critical cases first. I highly recommend them and so does my dogs primary vet. My Dixie Girl loved them too!
The staff here have been absolutely amazing in caring for my kitty. He had a two night stay that ended up with him needing surgery. The staff was informative and caring throughout the whole process, answering my questions thoroughly and sending me pictures and updates on my boy. Hes finally home as of last night and they gave me detailed care instructions and have thoroughly addressed any questions Ive had since bringing him home. I cannot thank them enough.
I absolutely LOVE the staff here. That are so friendly and caring. I had to put my lab down back in March. Such a sad event to deal with, but they made it so much easier to handle. They were so kind and caring about a dog they had just met. Now were here for another furry friend due to some respiratory issues shes having and her normal vet isnt open at the moment. They definitely know what theyre doing here and are very trustworthy. I would highly recommend this place for any of your furry friends needs.
Will never take any of my animals here again my dog is still sick she went in for Porcupine removal on her Muzzle they never sent home any Antibiotic. brought her two weeks later she was sick she had a fever of 104 they checked her said it wasn’t from Porcupine gave her something to bring her fever down And an inflammatory injection and no blood work which is crazy with a dog that has a fever, a week later 3rd time Bring her with a Swollen muscle Now they decide to do bloodwork and put it under her to check to see if there’s any quails in her Muzzle Well the blood work shows that she does have some thing going on probably an infection from the porcupine Now they sent her home with an antibiotic So $1200 later the dog is still feeling sick but a little bit better.
What an incredibly wonderful staff. Truly caring and empathetic. Thank you for helping me through one of the most difficult days of my life with such grace and care. I can’t thank you enough.
Got my cat in for an urgent, non-life threatening issue. They fixed her up good as new. Provided oral antibiotics as well as informed me of follow up needed at primary vet. We did have a wait based on priority with 2 patients ahead. The services provided to us relieved my anxieties and we are very happy that they were there for us. Thank you!!- Ruby & family
This place is amazing. Not only did there take care of my kitty, but they were prompt in there attention and decently priced. Only downside is the wait, but they see the most dire case first and foremost and will atleast they let you call ahead and they will put you on the list and then call you when it gets closer to the time when they are able to see your beloved fur kids. Couldnt be happier with them. Thanks again for saving my kitty!
Absolutely amazing staff very kind and caring I called ahead to let them know I was rushing there with my cat that was in complete distress and couldn’t breath they took her right away and got my baby feeling better as soon as possible come to find my fur baby has asthma they kept her to make sure she was doing better and sent us home with meds and directions I was amazed with how caring the nurse and vet was I definitely recommend them !! They saved my fur babies life
We have a Bernese Mountain Dog. She was using to tongue to apparently try to get something out of her mouth on aSaturday of last week.. While havingdifficult time swallowing. The lady on the phone put our paranoid emotions in check. Asked us questions. Told us what to do. Our dog just had an upset stomach. Its been a long week, but wanted to reach out and say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.They are certainly Very Highly Qualified. Thank you again for EVERYTHING...Kevin Gurley
I can’t find words to truly express the gratitude I have for the VECM staff! Dr. Pascoe and his team were nothing short of amazing during my recent visit with my English bulldog after he suddenly collapsed. I was met at the door on my way in and without hesitation the medical team got to work on my boy while the team at the front desk did their best to calm my nerves while they checked me in. Even though situations like that feel like an eternity, I was quickly updated about his condition and ongoing diagnostics. Not long after, Dr. Pascoe reviewed the results with me, taking the time to explain (in laymen’s terms) what each result meant, the diagnosis, and course of treatment. I felt my nerves calming as he spoke and i literally had to stop the doctor at one point just to let him know how grateful I was to have such an amazing doctor taking care of my baby. Before heading home for the afternoon, I was able to spend some time with my little guy; the team was happy to update me each time I checked in and again allowed me to visit with him before I went to bed for the night. The turnaround in just one day was nothing short of miraculous!! I truly have never had so much confidence and trust in a medical team as I did with VECM! I knew without a doubt that my baby boy was in amazing hands, being cared for as if he were their own. He made some wonderful friends with his team of doctors and nurses, who even called to check on him after he came home. As I said earlier, there are no words that come close to expressing how thankful I am to each and every person on the VECM team. My Meaty bear is home and back to his healthy happy snuggly & lazy (haha) self because of you all & i am eternally grateful!!!
Remarkable staff and doctors. At a very difficult time when our puppy was at end of days, they were incredibly compassionate and caring to us and our pup. They made us very comfortable in a warm room with couches and rugs that made us feel like home. Not an experience anyone wants to have...but they made it tolerable.
I brought my cat here at 9:00 AM on a Friday with an bite would to her tail. I wanted to make sure that she got on antibiotics before a long holiday weekend. Initially, the vet, Dr. LeClerc, said she had a few bite wounds but they would need to sedate her to shave/clean the are which I agreed to. In this initial call she told me we would need to keep the cat in and when I asked for how long she said Until it heals, preferably forever. in an incredibly condescending tone. I realize vets recommend this for the safety of the animal but ours is a barn cat who loves being out and would be miserable with a life indoors. When she called back after cleaning up the would I was informed that the wound was much worse than they initially thought and I had two options, amputate the tail or let it heal. It was clear to me that she was leaning toward amputation telling me shell be a cute little bobcat after. It was so insensitive. I said no, that I preferred to try and let it heal and I am so glad I did. Five days later the wound has healed remarkably. We saw our regular vet today and she was shocked that Dr. LeClerc had even suggested amputation. The first option is always to save, not amputate. They also did not send us home with any pain meds and I had to call twice the next day to get some. Also saw several people come and go while I sat in the parking lot for 4 1/2 hours. I get that they have to triage their patients but this was still extremely frustrating especially after youve been told more than once wont be much longer. I would not recommend going here to anyone. Lack of compassion and care with condescending attitude.
Dr. Major saved my dog. I went in last Friday night after a whole day agonizing at the idea that my 9 year old dog had a neurological condition as suggested by 2 different vets, and that I may had to euthanize him. He was knuckling (tripping on his left front leg). He couldnt get off the floor anymore. He was getting worse every day. I am so glad I decided to go to the emergency center where he finally got an XRay. We ruled out herniated disc and metastasis. Dr. Major was the first vet to detect a lump in his axial region. She put him on prednisone. IV shot that same night then oral tablets afterwards. If it was a tumor, nothing would have changed. Within 24 hours, he was a completely different dog. It was an inflammation all along. An inflammation that got so bad it pressed on his nerve and he couldnt use that leg anymore. Within 24h he was walking. This is day 3 and he hasnt tripped once. He is happy. Wags his tail. I am so grateful Dr. Major was working that night and did the best she could for my dog. The staff was also incredibly caring. Thank you again.
Brought our 10 year old boxer in twice in the matter of 4 days. He was experiencing multiple seizures. The vet told us what to expect over the next day and was very helpful. Unfortunately a few days later we were back and he had to be placed under 24 hour watch while they started him on anti seizure meds. This was 2 months ago and our boys has been seizure free since our last visit! Thank you to the wonderful staff and doctors for your care for our boy and us as well.
We had the unfortunate situation of an emergency visit here with our very sick 13 yr old Yellow Lab 5 days before Christmas close to midnight. I thought it was time but the doctors were amazing in exploring all options before it was time and patched her up to make it through the holidays with kids!Unfortunately we had another emergency visit this past Friday, and it was time. The doctors were very passionate and cincere regarding our loss and even sent us a sympathy card which was very professional!I will have them forever on speed dial if we ever need them again (hopefully not for a while) with our new 6 month old Yellow Lab puppy!
I called the Emergency Center on Christmas after the dog ate hydrangea leaves and we then realized they were toxic after the dog started vomiting. The clinic was quick in asking me the weight of the dog, I told them I was not sure how much she ate, and they quickly consulted the vet to advise me what to do. They saved me money as well because they decided based on current symptoms the dog did not need to be seen, but made sure I knew what signs to look for that would need me to bring her in or call back. Amazing service to get all the helpful information and expertise on how to care for my dog in a stressful time and what to watch out for without even having to go into the office. Thank you so much to the entire staff!! I would highly recommend you call them if you find yourself in a sticky situation with your pet!
The vet techs were very helpful and kind when my cat needed emergency surgery. However, I was appalled to find out that they charge an extra $500 for providing CPR if something were to happen to my cat during surgery. Many people in this country live paycheck to paycheck and should be able to afford having pets (even if they get sick). It’s unfortunate that money plays such a big part in veterinary care, especially since most don’t even offer payment plans.
I cant say enough good things about this hospital. Excellent staff, very efficient and helped when 5 other places turned us away.We will always be grateful!! Thank you for loving our pet as much as we do!!
We had an emergency visit this morning for our dog Charlie. Cindy and Dr. Anderson did an amazing job and made Charlie feel very comfortable while she was sick. The curbside service due to COVID was very convenient and they did an awesome job communicating throughout her visit. This was Charlies second time there and both times they have done a great job during a stressful moment. We will definitely be back.
This is A great place! I was there 2 days ago and they treat my little one so great... I highly recommend👍👍👍
The ABSOLUTE best facility and ABSOLUTE best staff ever ! So fortunate to have them available 24 / 7 to care for my furkids. Cannot recommend them highly enough.
I have had to bring my papillon Jake to VECM twice, the first time for a seizure when he was seven years old. It was a terrifying experience for my mom and I, our baby being in distress and us not having any idea what to do or what was happening to him. We were seen promptly by both technician and doctor. The doctor, Dr. Kevin Pascoe, was calm as he assessed our pet, even sitting on the floor with me and my dog to explain what was happening and what we can do next. He was so kind, compassionate, and so very reassuring to my mom and I.The second time was about one year ago when he was thirteen years old when his hip popped out of its socket. My mom and I were seen by Dr Chara Batchelder, who was very calm and collected as she explained what needed to be done to help get Jake well again to two very distraught owners. The doctors and staff there do phenomenal work 24/7, encountering people on some truly horrible days. They dont get enough credit for what they do. I would recommend them any and every time for every and any kind of emergency or otherwise. So thankful for them!
Absolutely awful experience. I waited over two hours to have my sick dog be seen before I gave up and left for an emergency vet in Nashua. I couldn’t even get a straight answer on how much longer when I asked after an hour and a half. If you were that busy, why didn’t you advise me to try elsewhere??? I would have understood that. My dog is really sick and I wasted two hours in your parking lot trying to get her help. The emergency vet in Nashua, btw, took her in immediately.Follow-up: I did not notify the Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester that I was going to the Nashua emergency vet. Manchester finally called to take my dog in four and a half hours after we first arrived. We were already on our way home from the vet in Nashua when they called. Seriously, just tell people when you’re that busy.RESPONSE TO THE OWNER: You say that you treat the most critical patients first? I dont think your staff has gotten that memo because when I called two hours into our wait, I was told that it was a first-come first-serve basis. My dog had been throwing up because she swallowed a foreign object, but the wait was still four and a half hours. What qualifies as an emergency if that doesnt??? You are either lying to me now or your staff is in desperate need of training. And your staff most certainly did NOT give me an estimated time wait. I pressed on that issue and was told REPEATEDLY that they couldnt say how long it would be. In fact, when we first arrived and I called to check in, I was also told that it shouldnt be too long before we could be seen. You ask for patience because of COVID? All I asked for was for your clinic to be honest and I was pretty clear that I would have understood if, at any point, I had been told the truth about our wait. And finally, dont tell me you care about animals or else your staff would have advised me to take my sick animal elsewhere. This is the most pathetic response possible to my complaint.
I found Dr. Hyde and Shane to be very caring and professional during my dog, “Daisy’s” visit. She had been vomiting for 18 hours and was becoming dehydrated. I am appreciative of the time taken to be sure Daisy was feeling better.Dr. Hyde listened to my concerns and offered comprehensive options. Thanks for the TLC
My fiance and I were on a camping trip, and our dog got a fish hook to the eyelid. Being from out of state, we were recommended here since the non-emergency vets in the area wouldnt accept new clients. They kindly offered to take our dog, and they brought her in right away when we arrived. The procedure was done extremely quickly and at a very reasonable price. Our pup is good as new and you cant even tell she had an injury on her face!
Well, I was referred to here by my vet and other places. Will never be coming back here again. Brought my dog in for an allergic reaction and multiple people have brought their dogs in after me and left before me. It should not take over an hour to receive benedryl and steroids. No communication as to whats going on. I had to call to see what was going on. I have a 4 year old French bulldog and have been to plenty of hospitals before, wish I could give this place 0 stars honestly.
We took our dog there in the middle of the night. He had a disc rupture. The folks there were respectful and supportive. I was impressed with the Vet. who examined our bichon. He spoke to us at length about what to expect and treatments.
If I could give a ZERO, I would. They could only tell me the initial visit to go into and be seen in the ER is $130. But to tell me if a UTI test could range between this and this, they could not. They need to see my dog (so I’m have to pay the $130) to determine how much they will charge for a UTI test. I know my dog has a UTI. She had them before. So I know what she needs. But to just get a rough estimate of the cost of a Urinalysis they couldn’t do. I need to make sure I can cover an ER visit and get my dog help, since all the vet in New Hampshire are booked out weeks. Really!!!
I can not say enough about the doctors and staff at VECM. They saved our dogs life!!!! We brought our boy, Remo there one morning with what we thought to be a cough and heavy breathing due to an infection but it turns out he was in respiratory distress as a result of heart failure. They brought him in right away and began diagnosing the situation and contacted us soon after with their plan for treatment and the cost. Although it was expensive, we said to do what it takes to get our boy healthy and back home. The next morning we called to see how things were and we were so happy to hear that Remo did great overnight and was even eating! I was so happy I started crying. They said that they would start him on oral medication to see how he responds and to call later that day. By noon Remo was on his way home!!!! They even refunded almost $100 because the original quote they gave us ended up being more than what the actual cost turned out to be. When we brought him there we were told that he was very sick and by the next day he was well enough to come home!!! I am so grateful for the staff at VECM. They were all so gracious and professional and compassionate. They have also been extremely helpful with answering any questions we have after Remo has come home. Calls are answered quickly and call backs are prompt. They are absolute angels! Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!!! We are happy to report that Remo is doing great!
We cannot thank all of the staff at Veterinary Emergency Center Manchester enough. Our poor Koko has a bad infection in her uterus (because she was not fixed). They got her right in and did the surgery she needed. They were very helpful with all my calls to check in on her. I am very thankful for them and everything they did for our baby.I would absolutely recommend them to my family and friends!
My heart hurts writing this review. We took my sweet Charlie to Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester on a Thursday night; after hours for our normal vet. We were grateful for them getting her right in and the testing they did to try and diagnose her condition. I was heartbroken that I couldnt go in with her (Covid) and had to wait in the car (by myself) for the difficult news. Dr. Major was her overseeing physician and while she was knowledgeable, I did not feel that she or her vet tech was sympathetic to the situation. Their tone of voice was too spirited for the situation at hand, and it wasnt well received. We pursued their advice to try and save our sweet dog and was told that we would be given a call within a few hours to let us know how the procedure went (life threatening). We were never called. It was the longest and hardest night, we hung on hope of that call that we never got. We fell asleep on the couch and woke up and decided to call. We were given an inpatient number but no one answered. We left a message and called a while later; approximately 10a. We called the main number to try and reach someone, they told us Charlie was on oxygen and was resting and that the doc would call us within 30 minutes. In the interim, we called our normal vet (Caring Hands Animal Hospital) to ask for their advice on the situation. They called the vet center and said someone would be calling us in the next few minutes. Fast forward to 12p, we decided to drive to the center to figure out what was going on with our Charlie. On the way, we got the call from the doctor. The news was not good, and we knew almost immediately that the best option was euthanasia. Our hearts were broken. We returned to the house, grabbed a few of her favorite things, and drove to the center. When we arrived, we were locked into a vestibule and told to wait to determine a plan for us to be with our dog throughout the process. I was heartbroken. I called our vet and asked if they could euthanize her for us, on a whim, based on the information we received. They agreed. We took Charlie and spent as much time as we thought we could with her before taking her to our regular vet to have her put down.. It was devastating and we are still reeling over her loss. The reason I rate VECM a 1 is because of their lack of compassion for my Charlie for which they cared. Why dont you have a SOP for following up with families for the animals in which you care? Why havent you called to check on her? Why havent you send a card or expressed any sort of sympathy for what you know what a difficult situation for both her and us? Shame on you.
My dog started having uncontrollable Seziers I brought him there he was admitted but unfortunately he didnt make it they were very Nice and helpful especially Samantha who I no personally she was messaging me keeping me updated on my pups condition through this ruff time RIP to my pup 🙌
Crazy wait times even at night. Absurd prices. Do not recommend
I had the worst experience here... The staff was extremely condescending and rude.
Two days ago my 7 month old Doberman Joppa ingested a toy he shouldn’t have causing vomiting and clear uncomfortable pains. Joppa is my first dog that me and my girlfriend just got, we were terrified & didn’t really know what to do. After the recommendation from our local vet to bring him here we did just so.Joppa had to stay the night and undergo surgery but seems to be on the mend pretty quick. The whole staff we interacted with made us feel very safe and comfortable despite what we thought was the worst. As a dog lover and first time owner it really was an indescribable feeling of comfort. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Joppa will come by when he’s better and bring thank you’s.Thank you again,Mike & Morgan
I cannot praise them enough for all that they do. We brought our Doberman to them at 12 at night because he unfortunately ran into a porcupine. He had over 50 quills in his right front paw and leg, and about two dozen in his muzzle. They were busy when we got there, but made sure to let us know that they would be out to get our pup as soon as they could. They did the procedure in about an hour. The staff and vet i had encountered there were remarkable. Thank you again.
Unfortunately, we had to put our lab of almost 14 years down. It was a horrible morning but this Emergency vet did an amazing job. They were fast, compassionate and gave us all the education we needed to make the right decisions for ourselves and our beloved pet.
I believe they save to of my kittens lives ...they were not eating tried everything for 3 days every kind of food you can imagine even plain rice and chicken they refused they were both vomiting and had diarrhea were not playing at all only sleeping and sitting not moving ..I suspected they ate a pieces of an indoor tree I have and communicated everything Id observed ..from the beginning they communicated everything with me the wait time and if I felt they were severe enough they would bring in and triage and go based on most critical needs first I chose to stay home until they called for my turn so I could keep them with me when it was my time they called I came down they were extremely busy parking lot was packed and the key thing was they were honest about waits ..they brought my boys in and gave them fluids under their skin meds to stop vomiting and the diarrhea and special food and instructions if they continues to not eat or vomit as per doctors instructions I began force feeding with syringe yesterday when they still refused food with in 30 min they were up walking around and even briefly played for 5 min first time in 4 days I continued the feeding for the day and by night they both began to take small bites of food on their own and Im seeing a change in behavior towards the positive ...they communicated prices with me and did what they could to save me money since both kittens clearly were sick from same thing they ran blood work on the one who was showing the most symptoms ...the nurses and doctors are honest caring and clearly state everything the whole way through and once it was my turn they quickly handled their symptoms ..going to an animal ER you know it will probably not be cheap just as if you went the er yourself however they did what they could to save me money and provide thr best care they needed I am now seeing huge improvements in them and will continue to follow the doctors advice they gave me tools ..to call and look up since it seems they ingested a toxic tree leaf in my home so that I could look up all my plants to figure out which ones are not safe and either need to be disposed of or put in a looked indoor green house cage for my fur babies safety ...they were great ...I believe my young kittens may have died from not eating and dehydration had I not brought them in ...thank you for saving them and giving me the tools to learn what in my home is not safe for them to prevent anything like this from ever happening again
We went to this facility because it was recommended as an emergency vet by our regular vet. Due to COVID they triage you on the phone from your car then come get your pet. Our 9 week old kitten was failing to thrive. Not eating not drinking no litter box action. Dr Hyde and his team were amazing! They took great care of her and gave us a few suggestions for her continued care. Dr Hyde came out and gave us a full report on her vitals and current health. They were thorough and compassionate. Our little one is doing well and I credit their expertise. I would highly recommend them if you are in the unfortunate situation of caring for a sick pet.
I have been to VECM with two different cats over the years. Our first cat was brought in several years ago and even though she couldnt be saved they made her very comfortable and helped with the passing of our beloved Pixie. Recently, I had to bring in my cat Sanibel for an unknown issue. She had already been to another vet and ER in Massachusetts. VECM staff from Liz to Dr. Phillip Hyde and all the others who assisted were absolutely wonderful. They were so caring, thorough, and top notch customer service. The staff makes you feel like they are caring for their own pet. I will never go anywhere else. Please keep up the great care and customer service!
My dog Bronx had a swollen rear paw, raw and a little bloody in the pad area, and couldn’t put wait on it. He was crying a lot, and I was concerned.I went to the Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester with my concerns. First and foremost, they were absolutely fantastic. They were very accommodating, polite, fast, and helpful. It wasn’t too busy, but I don’t even think I waited 5 minutes to be seen. The vet tech was wonderful and professional. She took her time and transcribed my concerns to the tee. The veterinarian was just as wonderful and professional, and she was very fast at providing me with a solution plan to help aid my lovable lump Bronx. The ladies at the front desk were so helpful, sweet, and courteous. They ensured everyone was comfortable and snacks were provided to this that were waiting.I recommend if your precious pet needs some immediate assistance, the Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester is truly a fantastic place to bring them, as it will provide you with peace of mind that your furry family member is being treated so courteously and professionally.Thank you to the Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester for taking care of my good boy.
We needed emergency care for our dog, and due to covid restrictions we couldnt physically enter the building. The staff was so helpful and took utmost care for our dog and kept us informed with every procedure they performed. We are grateful for their services.
I couldnt get my puppy into our vet soon enough so I brought her to VECM and have to say I am so impressed with the professionalism and excellent care they gave. The vet spent time to carefully go over what may have caused the digestive problem. If youre concerned about a delay to see your own vet, I highly recommend a visit to VECM. Im very happy with my experience there.
I went there with my cat last week, urinary issues and asked they take a look. I also told the person at the desk over the phone I wanted blood work also. No blood work was done. So I won’t go back. Just the FYI to listen to whom you are talking to. I don’t blame the doctor I blame the person I spoke with. We the customer right now don’t talk to the doctor till it’s over so the failure wasn’t known till I could see the paperwork. Anyway I won’t go back. I feel for you to be better I have to tell you where you failed. I am still having problems with my cat and refuse to come back to you. This info will hopefully help the next person coming in.
Late to post but they saved my dogs life back in early December- he came in neurological and his blood levels had dropped extremely low. They were able to do a blood transfusion and kept me updated during all of his testing and screenings. Unfortunately we werent able to get a diagnosis for what happened, even with followup care at my regular vet but they managed to stabilize him in critical condition and hes doing so much better now!
I brought my puppy here a few months back who when we got there, couldn’t walk, and was very nervous. She was around 100 lbs and we carried her to our car to bring her here.Once we got there, I signed papers, and they took her in. They started working on her and told me EVERYTHING that was going on! This was amazing! They said she was backed up and blocked. They showed me pictures of her xrays and brought her vomit in so I could see what was going on in her stomach. This was all amazing! So far my experience here was great!! The doctors do know what they’re doing!!Halfway through treatment, I’m told she will have to stay overnight and that I need to make a down payment for around $1,000. When I signed my papers, I was told to pay upon discharge. They were not discharging her. My boyfriend and I brought that up and had to end up talking to the owner of the hospital. Suddenly they had a “cheaper treatment plan” that would work just as well for her for 1000s of dollars less. It got to the point where I walked out and my boyfriend had to THREATEN THEM that he was gonna leave the dog there and from then on she’s in their care and their responsibility. She needed to be treated They very clearly did not want this and put us on their non existent payment plan they said they didn’t have. Word has gotten out recently about them that they like to tell people who are already stressed and crying over their animals “if you don’t pay this amount your dog will die” etc.. All they want is money. Do NOT bring your dog here. It’s basically pointless. This hospital may result in a lot of animals not making it because they’re heartless. Bring your animals elsewhere.
This was the second time we have used this center for our dog Panzer. Unfortunately after a strenuous attempt at getting him better, he did not make it this time. I know they did everything they could for him. Even during their rush hours we were always accommodated and got all their attention when needed. They made sure he was comfortable and we werent rushed when we had to make the unfortunate decision. We will continue to use this emergency vet if we ever need to and I HIGHLY recommend you take your animals there in times of need. The staff, vets and techs are all incredible and were so thankful for all they did for our best friend. Phenomenal
We have had to bring our two pups to this provider on 3 separate occasions. Each time they have been compassionate, informative and timely. It isn’t the closest emergency center to our home but for the extra 5 minute drive we feel the most confident bringing them here! As a quick PSA- keep your dogs on a leash during spring evenings otherwise you’ll be visiting here annually for porcupine quill removal :)
I brought my dog in on Saturday night in a panic because he broke off his canine tooth. They were very clear about how they could help him and gave us antibiotics and painkillers to get through the weekend until we could see our regular vet. They were so helpful!
Last night we took our 10 week old Doberman puppy here because she was having extreme trouble urinating. Within just a little bit she was inside with the staff and being taken care of. The staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and professional. It’s hard not being able to go inside with them, especially since she’s such a baby, but we have no doubts at all that she was in amazing hands. In fact, as we were pulling away she was watching the building out the window! As a first time puppy owner, it’s nerve wracking when anything abnormal happens with your pup, but we were extremely comfortable and confident that she would be okay under their care.
My cat had a partial block and they helped me so much. Even the follow up calls they were so helpful when I was uncertain about his condition. They always gave me the best advice and just didn’t say came back to pay more. Felt like they were really concerned about my pet! I’d go back but hopefully I never need to!!
Did nothing to help my emotional support animal .had a wound cleaned it and coned him with meds covered in blood including his carrier payed over 200$ for nothing Don’t waste your time ! I’d give it 0 stars if I could. Very disappointed
We have always used this business when our primary vet is not open. We have always had nothing but great experiences and they have always treated our dogs as like they were members of their own family. Our latest trip in was 3/26/20 at 2:15am. Our healthy six year old Boston Terrier had a seizure and scared the heck out of us. They were so responsive and caring. Even during these crazy times they were so welcoming and spent all the time we needed going over our dogs health.I will always recommend this facility to anyone who loves their pets. They will show them the love they deserve.
It has taken me Nearly one week to write this as I have Been utterly heartbroken. One week ago I admitted my cat for an overnight stay, As he was not eating or drinking and had seen you the previous Friday for apparent constipation.(was not as we came to find out) The medication he was given consistently made him puke all weekend, as he had nothing In his system and this is why we bought him back to you on Monday trusting that you would care for him and see what was going on. I called the night of his stay and was told by the nurse that he was doing well. I asked the nurse to please call if my cat declined at all. Even in the slightest .The next morning I called and requested a call back, and did not ever receive one. I also sent an email and received no reply to that as well . We picked up our cat at 4:30 PM from your practice. By 6 PM he had passed. Not to say that you caused his condition, but you did fail to keep us posted and had no problem collecting $2000 from us Upon pick up. You will never know the pain that this has caused. I work with animals and I cannot ever imagine not keeping a parent posted on the decline of they’re Pet while in my care- By no means will I ever bring an animal back to your practice. I would hope that In the future you will treat other people with more respect than we were treated with, as well as my poor baby who declined in your care- Good day.
Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience. Due to Covid no one was allowed in building. From your car you call number and check in. We did that. We called back 25 minutes later to see where we were on the list and they said they didnt have us on the list. This time we got added. They did NOT tell us that there was an extremely long wait. We called a total of three times with staff just saying we had people in front of us. We waited in our car with our sick dog for 4 hours. After the FOURTH hour we left and made arrangements at our regular vet who had referred us there to get quicker help for our dog. After SIX hours they finally called and we said we are going else where. Apparently EMERGENCY vet center means nothing.
Dr. Hyde was so compassionate and knowledgeable, he made the experience as painless as it could be! Thank you!
Brought my cat in because he was drooling and panting around 7pm it was so busy I waited in my car till 1:30am until we brought my cat home they said they just think he’s nauseous because of new medicine we didn’t get seen by the doctor. The next couple hours when I woke up he seemed worse and I rushed him back, it seems it was just his time and he lost his battle with cancer. The staff was so caring and let me take all the time i needed I got to play with him in the parking lot one last time and hold him when he went for as long as I wanted with the kind words of the doctor as I cried like a baby over my sick 11 year old baby. It must be so hard having to tell owners all day if this happens....I give it to you. I’m heartbroken but glad he’s no longer suffering ❤️ Thank you again to the morning staff on sept 4th, you treated my baby like your own and that means the world to me. I guess it depends on what shift you get my second experience here was way better. R.i.p C.C. 🐱🐾
They saved my cats life last year. Not much else to say! Im very grateful I was able to find a place open around 10pm on a Sunday. Id spent around $800 at my normal vet after various appointments and treatments to try to diagnose my male cats urinary problem. They kept saying he didnt have crystals but he would strain to go like he was blocked and his urine was bloody. Took him in on a Friday when he was extremely distressed and crawling around leaving a bloody trail everywhere and they checked him over and said no blockage, bladder is empty, hes just uncomfortable. Sent me home again with pain meds. Sunday rolls around and hes completely unresponsive and trembling. We were seen immediately by Manchester Emergency. They didnt sugarcoat anything and had me sign a resuscitate agreement because his temp was at 92 and his bladder was rock hard. Thankfully they were able to flush everything out and keep him stable overnight. They documented EVERYTHING. It was nice to be able to read an hour by hour log of everything that happened. There was also a log entry simply stating A sweet boy! Its clear they know what theyre doing and they care about the animals.
My cat ate a sewing needle and it passed all the way through its system to his rear end then embedded itself in his rectum. The staff on duty was awesome. They were able to remove the needle and treat the abscess and he is now resting and doing great. Thank you everyone!
Last night my cat Dinah experienced saddle thrombus. My husband and I rushed her to VECM thinking she must have broken leg. We were sorely mistaken. The doctor told us what happened and explained our choices. We had to make the heart breaking decision to let her go. We knew it was the most humane thing to do. We had never been to VECM before but from the receptionists to the vet techs to the doctor herself, everyone was so kind and accommodating. My husband and I were terrified and devastated. I haven’t cried that hard in a very long time. I want to say thank you so much to the entire staff. I wish I could remember everyone’s names but it’s all a bit of a blur of sadness and tears. You all took care of us very well. And helped our sweet girl cross the Rainbow Bridge in comfort and peace. Thank you for taking away her pain. And for so gently and expertly walking through that moment with us.Best,Sarah and Paul Higgins
My very large dog got some very aggressive tumors on his spleen. It was horrific and completely in expected. It happened so fast. We had to put him down. Horrible. The staff was so understanding, patient and gave me some needed hugs. I had him cremated. I didn’t really want to pick up his remains. Too sad. Finally picked him up, several months later. The staff was wonderful, and gave me much needed hugs again. Still so sad, but his remains are in a beautiful box, with his name & date on the bottom. Made me feel better that they treated his remains so well. Thanks again to everyone who helped me& my son deal with an unexpected horrible day.We will always be great fullRocky’ s MomHeidi
Ive had very positive experiences here with two of my cats who have had emergencies in 2020. Dr. Batchelder and the staff are very kind. The wait times are quite long, but they are following COVID protocols. While I dont particularly enjoy having to use emergency veterinary services, I am very satisfied with the service my pets have received here, and will use this hospital again for any emergencies in the future. Thank you for all you do!Edited 03/08/21 - My cat was experiencing discomfort that needed urgent attention outside of our normal vet hours, so I brought her here. As always, she was treated promptly by the lovely staff. Thank you for taking care of Nessie! Our family appreciates everything this vet office has done for us over the years.
Make sure they give you an Itemized bill at the time you depart with your animal. If they quote you a price before service, make sure they honor it because, they did not for me.
Last week, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to our 13-year-old kitty, Fonz. The entire staff was so kind and expeditiously helpful given the odd circumstances with COVID. We waited in the car while Fonz was triaged and diagnosed. Dr. Hyde was beyond compassionate with every word he said and explained to us in detail exactly what was going on. While we never thought we’d be driving to the vet that day and then driving home without Fonz, we were able to spend Fonz’s last moments together outside at the picnic table thanks to Dr. Hyde’s and the staff’s understanding of how important that was for us. Thank you to all the staff and Dr. Hyde. We know our Fonzie was in the best hands possible at the end and are so grateful he was able to be in ours during his last moments.
We brought our 16 year old Jack Russell Terrier to them late on a Saturday night and she was literally at death’s door from congestive heart failure. It was complicated by the COVID 19 protocols, so we couldn’t even go in with her. But a kind and sweet nurse came out and got her, a wonderful doctor named Josh called and told us our options, and we decided to try life-saving measures. The entire time she was there I called every few hours and the nurses were unfailingly caring, professional and patient and it was clear that they really cared about our pet. They made the whole experience so much easier. After about 43 hours of care our dog came out of there with a new lease on life. I can’t thank them enough. They were wonderful through the entire ordeal
I was so glad bring my cat there. The staff is really amazing and caring.
In the last two months, we have had to utilize VEC for end of life services for two of our very loved (and very old) cats. The team was amazingly kind, courteous, and considerate throughout both visits. I am very grateful to them for allowing our girls to pass in peace.
Over 4 hours to get an X-ray, blood work, and antibiotics for momma dog while they are aware I have 2 day old puppies waiting to nurse. Will be going to Nashua emergency next time.
