ONE OF THE RECEPTIONIST CALLED ME THIS MORNING AND SAID MY INSURANCE DOESNT ACCEPT DR KAKER. I TOLD HER I WILL CONFIRM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY. AFTER DOING A CONFERENCE CALL WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THE RECEPTIONIST, CONFIRMING DR KAKER IS IN NETWORK, SHE SAID DR ODONEL IS SMTG IS NOT. I SAID MY APPT IS NOT WITH HIM, AND ITS WITH DR KAKER. SHE SAID DR KAKER DOESNT EVEN WORK OUT IN MANASSAS LOCATION. SO BASICALLY, THEY LIED TO LURE ME IN SEEING ANOTHER DENTIST. SO WERE THEY GONNA TELL ME AT TIME OF MY APPT, YOUR APPT IS NOT WITH THE DENTIST YOU WANTED? That was the worse experience ever by the office we have, I was recommended by the other Dr. To take an appointment for my baby son and I was called and got the appointment thay said it will be one day job and will be finishing only by one visit but the worse things was that when we get there they said we cant do that the hospital is close bla bla,bla... finally I wasted my time there to get nothing...

Both of my children come here and have been here for about 2 years now. I enjoy that all treatment plans go through parents first. They have renovated a bit and office seems to be able to care for lots of kids and are efficient. I hope they will add in more chairs for patients as it can get busy.

I had set up an appointment for my daughter at 12:30. I had said 12:30 numerous times and had the receptionist repeat 12:30 to me. They scheduled the appointment instead for 12:00. All in all no big deal but they shifted the blame without taking responsibility for a simple error. The waiting room was dingey, which is the nicest way to put it. They told us my daughter needed more than she did which would have likely ended with her being miserable and traumatized. The dentist probably insisted due to the expense of the procedures and the profit from performing them and NOT because of concern for their patient, my precious 5 year old. My wife and I decided to get a second opinion and thank GOD we did. And lastly when I tried to get my daughters X-rays and dental records, which are MY PROPERTY, I was informed that it would cost me $50. Bull****. I’m not paying any money because they’re upset I found someone better for the job of treating my daughter. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE. If you want the best for your kids then take them to some who sees them as people and not little dollar signs

Dr Kakar is a wonderful dentist! My children are always excited to see Dr Kakar because he is really great with the kids. He makes them feel comfortable and talks to them at their level. He loves to joke with them, which my kids love. I have never experienced a wait time for our appointments. The kids are sometimes even taken back before their appointment time. I would highly recommend Dr. Kakar to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist.

He was a decent dentist with my son. However, when we decided to change dentist so the whole family was seeing the same dentist? His office wanted to charge $50 just to transfer his x-rays to the other dental practice. Im fine with records charges that are reasonable. THIS IS PRICE GAUGING! If Dr. Kakar is that intent on keeping dental x-rays of a small child, KEEP THEM! I will make sure everyone knows how you treat people.

I spent over $10,000 in braces for two of my family members and then I went today with three of my children to get some cavities filled and they wanted me to pay them cash and they didnt explain that to me beforehand. They would not tame checks. This facility has very bad customer service and I even question their competency because all of a sudden my kids been going there consistently and all of them showed up with several cavities that is something they should have caught before and gave me advice before it hit that point overall this is a terrible facility be careful with your children I am taking legal action against them and I strongly dont recommend them.

Please, for the safety of your child, take your child somewhere else. We are now paying 2300 dollars to correct the work performed by Dr. Kakar. After his one of his crowns fell out, we went to a new, reputable dentist only to discover that Dr. Kakar did not fix or seal a single tooth correctly. Not only this, after my son was placed under sedation by Dr. Kakars team to have his work done, he came out smelling like cigarette smoke. It was a truly scary experience and Im surprised his license has not been revoked.

I been taking my daughter here for couple years everything was good till my daughter’s medicaid was not active no more. They checked it im guessing and they stopped caring. Never got a call or reminder of my daughter check up coming up soon. I called to make the appointment for visit gave the lady new info of née insurance she said i called you back if anything didn’t get a call saying insurance is good we see you soon are a call to remind me about the appointment i had. When the day cAme I called them to remind me the te i had to be there. Lady said its at 8:30 but your medicaid is not active. I was like i know i gave the person who gave me the appointment new information. The lady said no lady you didn’t. When i know i did. She said may i have it. And i call you back in two hours. They made it seem like if the kid doesn’t have insurance they don’t care if the kids go or not. Even if my daughter didn’t have insurance i could of payed the visit. Sadly I don’t know the persons name but. I miss worked that day my daughter missed school for this.

I am a nurse who had questions about the medications he was using to sedate my very young child. I have plenty of experience with sedation in the emergency room. He tried to evade the question and when pressed, he told me I had too many questions and I needed to find another dentist. Egomaniacs with sedation = an accident waiting to happen. Dont let it happen to your child.

We had a very positive experience at the Falls Church office. A year ago, I brought my then 2 year old for a checkup and I was afraid that he would not open his mouth for anyone. Dr. Kakar has a great approach with the kids, and he got my son to cooperate and did so in a fun way. Weve been back twice and so far my son really liked it there. Recently, I also brought in my 11 month old for an emergency; he fell and dislocated his two bottom front teeth. We were panicked, I spoke to Dr. Kakar and he told me to bring my baby in the next day on a Saturday so that he could examine him. We did have to pay for it out of pocket, as it was classified as consultation; it cost us $150, but we figured it was worth the peace of mind. We do have a dental insurance, so Im hoping the next visits will be covered by the insurance.

I had a frightening emergency with my baby. My experience with Dr. Kakar was excellent. He attended to an emergency situation with my 20 month olddaughter immediately.Answering my call on the first attempt on 5/30/14, last Saturday afternoon. My daughter screaming in my arms, her gums bloody and teeth in unknown condition, Dr.Kakar patiently added calm and confidence to a frightening dental emergency. Dr.Kakar displayed extraordinary professional courtesy and attended to my youngest daughter with out being a patient of record.Dr. Kakar is a brilliant DDS, and explained several scenarios, which may result from my daughter falling on the edge of a sandbox. He provided several explanations of my concerns for my baby daughters dentition. You can have confidence in this UVA/MCV graudate! I am happy to write my first review to thank him for rescuing us!

This office is the crean of the crop. I moved here 4 years ago and had a hard time finding a dentist who was great at what they do AND care about my child as a patient. I had a terrible experience with my first choice in woodbridge, and after hearing good things from a friend, I decided to give this office a try. Good thing I did because they are awesome! The esperience is always personal, they do Everything with enthusiasm and compasion. The staff is extremely friendly and kind Dr Uppal and the assistants are thorough and always take their time during my appt, even when they are swamped, The list could go on. But I think you get the point. Definitely give them a try, you wont regreat it.

Worst experience with a dentist office I have ever experienced. The staff up front was not friendly, once in the back it was very crowded with to many people to close all getting work done at the same time. I overheard them tell every child, “they had two cavities and needed teeth pulled”, at first it seemed like maybe a coincidence, but then one of the workers started pushing very hard on my daughters teeth, and she said how it was hurting her. My daughter was 9, and they told me she needed two teeth pulled out, I let them know that she is nine years old and those teeth will come out when the ready I did not want to pay them to pull them. At this time I felt like everything they said was a money scam. After following up with another dentist office my daughter only had one cavity and of those teeth had already fallen out in three months. The woman who cleaned my teeth hurt my gums, and her bedside manner was terrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Also, when requesting my dental x-rays they charged me $100 and took three days to get them to me, I finally called and left a message on the office manager’s phone, it was ridiculous .

Lacking the basic skills to manage kids in dental chair. I Never saw a pedodontist unfriendly with kids and never waste 1m in behavioral management with them, instead and immediately he will suggest nitrus oxide, sedation or simply GA (General Anesthesia). My daughter has done a procedure under GA with him, another pedodontist has done works for her more than what he done only under nitrus oxide. On scheduled date I suggested to him not to add crowns on centrals to maintain the space as she is 6 yrs old and the permanent about to erupt and it wont looks good at all, but he said either to do it all or I wont do it, I will cancel the whole procedure. I realized its all about something else and I decided to go for it. A few months later, we have to remove the crowns as it was very loose and the permanent erupted. When I went there to see him, he told me Im gonna do it under GA lol just to remove the loose crowns under GA (not sure is that related to insurance). Anyhow, I went to another pedodontist who has done the procedure in 10m with local anesthesia without even need to use nitrous oxide as he was so good in behavirol management, calming and spending time with kids explaining and answering their questions. I forgot to answer dr kakar as he asked me on my last visit when I refused to go for GA for my daughter (if you worry about her and you are a dentist why you not taking care of her from the beginning?) I was so busy taking care of other people kids at a time my daughter needs that care. I was working with honesty and respect, spending as much as patient needs to make sure they receiving the optimum care ( Not as you said to me the 1st time I saw you, this is America we dont have much time to spend with kids to try and find out if they gonna cooperate with us or not) and never disrespect a child, a family member or even colleague. I was nervous when I set out to find a dentist for our 4 y/o daughter. Shes never been to a dentist, and I wanted her first experience to be good. We also wanted a dentist who could talk to adults as well :)After reading the reviews here and elsewhere, we ended up going with Gainesville Pediatric Dentistry. Im very glad we did :)Scheduling: They got us in first day! This was almost a red flag to me, but I guess we either lucked out or parents arent piling up to get their kids in to the dentist as they are an ENT or pediatrician.Location: Super easy to find, you can see it plain as day from Wellington road and turn in from either Wellington or Limestone Drive.Wait: I arrived 10m early to fill out my paper work and had just put the pen down when we were called in promptly at 4 (which was right on time!). Even if we hadnt had to wait, they had a great waiting area; fish tank, child toys, reading material, and lots of other kids to play with.Service: Superb. The ... dental assistant? Lady who cleans the teeth? Was incredibly friendly. She wasnt right to business or anything, she took the time to befriend my daughter and talk to her and her language was age appropriate (This is my tooth brush, it goes round and round - isnt that silly!?) and my daughter took to her very quickly. She took the time to talk to me as well, and answer all my questions in-depth . Later, the dentist came out to count the teeth and check for cavities and she also took the time to befriend my daughter, despite the incredible work load I could see all around me and how busy she was (the other dentist had had to go home early that day for forced bed rest - late pregnancy!). The dentist also took the time to talk to me and answer any new questions I had and explain to me what to expect over the years. I was super impressed and very happy with the overall experience.Checkout: Also quick! They scheduled me and had me out in no time.Bottom Line: I wish Id had this type of experience as a kid. And best of all, my daughter already wants to go back haha. She couldnt wait to brush her teeth tonight, the first time shes ever looked FORWARD to brushing.

I brought my 4 year old son to this office for his very first dentist appointment . I chose this office based on a Google search and a review of their website, which made their office look pristine and state of the art . When I arrived I was shocked at how old and dated the office was . The bathroom was dirty with no soap or paper towels . The lobby rug was stained and there was food all over it . We arrive 15 minutes early for the appointment and still waited another 45 minutes to be seen. We were brought back to a tiny room with an extremely old chair, and a sink that was falling apart, missing laminate and with old glue exposed. Our hygienist was very nice, however the cleaning was ridiculous. All they did was brush his teeth with a toothbrush and then smear fluoride on his teeth with the finger . There was no flossing, no pick or dental tools involved . X-rays were fine - nothing special. The doctor was very nice. However I was completely uncomfortable having any procedures done on my son there due to the poor condition of the office, ancient looking chairs, and equipment, etc. I called back and politely asked for a transfer of records and was told I would be charged $50 . I asked to speak to the manager since I was very displeased with my visit but was never called back . I asked if I could sign a medical release form but they have no forms available online. I also visited the website to check their hours and it said they were open on Fridays from 8 to 5 pm however the office was actually closed around 12 or 1 Pm. I left another detailed message for the office manager, explaining my displeasure and asking for a waiver or at least a reduction of the $50 fee . Again I never received a call back . I felt very misled by the website and wish I had followed my instincts to just walk out of the lobby after waiting for 45 mins. The front desk ladies, dental tech, and doctor were very nice however I would not recommend this office . Customer service is very important especially when peoples children are involved. Had the office manager botheredto give me a call back and at least apologize for the state of the office and explain the policy about the transfer of files I likely would have paid the fee and not left a bad review, however this experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

This is the worst Dental office, they make a patient to wait 1hour and a half for the poor kid to get numb ! Who does that !!! A anesthetic injection gets you numb in 5minutes mostly and the laughing gas Nitrous is effective in couple minutes. Poor kids having to wait 3hrs to get fillings ! They over schedule and treat kids like a drive thru.Dr. kakar just because parents dont what the length of a procedure is, doesnt mean u can give poor dental work and the worst part is towards kids!

Awful.... They tried to diagnose my 18 month old before they even did xrays or anything. I was only in the back for 5 minutes for the them to brush her teeth and make her gums bleed! The front lobby needs a lot of work. Dirty walls and torn up chairs.
