Basic convenient Gym with friendly staff. The praise ends there... Corporate level management should be in handcuffs!!
Before joining this club, I thought those low ratings should have come from the people who unluckily had bad experiences and the happy majority usually do not leave positive comments. So I should be fine. but after all I realized that those comments were true and I was wrong.The club says its only $27 a month, but you will have to pay additional $70 annual fee and also $10 cancellation fee even if your membership is month to month.They dont accept the cancellation by phone and you must visit the place (although they dont need your signature) on WEEKDAYS and WHEN THE MANAGER IS THERE. Only the manager has the access to the cancellation system and the people at the reception or even the staff who can let you join the club CANT let you out.
Have a “month to month” agreement in which I wouldn’t have to pay an annual fee. I’ve paid two annual fees since then and it’s been less than a year of the membership. I cancelled my membership in May and was told it will process after 45 days. It’s now December and I’m being told to come back in and do the whole process over again. The managers are also very good at avoiding your phone calls. I can’t believe I even have to give a star for this...
5 of 16 treadmills dont work and havent worked for months. They insist they are going to have the tech guy take a look.It took 7 months to have a bench repaired. Most equipment is very worn and tired. Theres a hole in the floor right next to the squat rack which isnt covered up and no caution sign..Staff doesnt show much energy aside from a few.I think you get the point

I have a membership in this horrible club . So I called in today to fix something on the account . Spoke to an idiot by name KIRK. He asked for my name 5 times before he could write it down on a piece of paper. Worst customer service I got . Talking to a idiot like that itself is a workout. The manager apparently taking words from people . In this case some one reported me as dead . And the manager Corey took the word that I am dead and did not ask for any proof if I was really dead. I will be talking to my lawyer Regarding this behavior from the manager I can only hope how he is managing that place with a staff this stupid who doesn’t know and have a courtesy to speak to their clients in a polite manner . Instead threatening to show up at the place. I urge everyone to stay away from this place . And I will be writing a letter to the headquarters regarding . Also I will be also informing this whole incident to Better Business Bureau.
So I am starting to think I made a mistake starting a membership here. I use to work out all the time and fell away from it due to life. I signed up yesterday without reading these reviews and see my error now. When I was in the gym yesterday the staff member who signed me up said that the a/c was getting fixed today when I commented on how hot it was. Well I went today for the first time and I was unable to stay as long as I had wanted to. The gym was a sauna. I would guess it was cooler outside then in that gym. I am out of shape and was afraid I would have some overheating problem so I literally cut my workout in half and left. The Temperature on the thermometer on the gym floor read 75° but with all the sweaty heated bodies in the gym it was ALOT HOTTER! When I was walking out I noticed the area at the front desk was cooler and the thermostat was set at 74 and no one was working out up there. This is also the first gym I have ever been to that has no ceiling fans to keep the air circulating.The gym and locker room is also filthy. The staff doesn’t seem to be monitoring that.No wonder the monthly fees are low. After reading these reviews and due to my personal experience, looks like I might need to cancel this membership before the trial time passes. Disappointed!
I rated a 1 because I had no other choice. My rating is a zero. Horrible gym. Dirty.... You never see anyone chaning it. The machines are old and decrepit. Girls locker room is a disaster. They increase your monthly dues without notice and have ridiculous restrictions to cancelling your membership. Horrible gym beware.
Parking situation is such a pain. Most of the equipment is either completely broken or just not working right. Maintenance fee is way over priced for the lack of maintenance for the equipment. If everything wasn’t broken the gym would be better.
Be really careful with the staff and personal training here, they hit you with enormous fees someone who is coming to a $27 a month gym cannot handle, and you cannot get out of it. The team here works together to make sure they take your money and you cant do anything about it once you sign with them. Be SUPER careful, these are vultures who will not let you get out of their tight grip on your bank account.
Possibly the worst gym and worst staff and management I’ve ever experienced. Don’t go... and if you do and then you want to freeze or cancel your account, they will just lie and keep charging you. Don’t even entertain them.
A HORRIBLE UNPLEASANT experience. They only care about getting as much money out of me as possible. I was on a month to month contract, went into cancel, the guy at the desk said fine all done and three months later the DEBT COLLECTORS start to call threatening to destroy my credit rating (!!??!!). It turns out buried in the paperwork is a clause saying even monthly members are liable for all charges 45 days afterwards. This included a $50 annual fee for the coming year (really? this sucks!) as well as two months in advance. They took one month off this (their mistake for double counting). SHAMEFUL MONEY GRABBING.The gym experience? I found it to be a bit sweaty & smelly, with lots of broken machinery.

This company is flat out shady! The staff is absolutely wonderful! No complaints about the staff.However back in August of 2016 I specifically asked to pay my one yer member ship in FULL because I dont like monthly charges. They accepted my request and I spent 10 good months there. However in JUNE they started charging monthly again when I had CLEARLY paid IN FULL thru August.They are nothing more than common thieves. I am currently disputing the charges now and I cant logically see how theyd have a any reason why they are charging me a monthly fee when I have documentation showing I PAID IN FULL! Its not the local gym. Its the corporate side. Theyre basically no better than a bad mafia.
Its nice. Staff are very friendly & outgoing .Everything is clean & organized .Machines are updated and great. Convenience is excellent with this club too .
It is convenient, but the machines and structure are a bit run down. Paint is peeling off of the ceiling. Occasionally treadmills and other equipment doesn’t work. Some of the Universal equipment parts are worn down to the point of not being safe to use in my opinion. The showers are clean and the staff is nice.
Lot of things didnt work the right way. Clips are broken for equipment. To warm in lesson rooms/ cpld in normal fitness area. Sometimes broken shower or no towels.
Old outdated equipment, trashy people working there and working out, not a comfortable place to workout at all. Ive tried membership here two times in my life, regretted it every time.
This place is horrible!!! Unclean, they changed rates without notice. Then when you try to cancel they make sure to hit you with additonal penalties. This place was seriously the worst..bad rating all around and i didnt listen to them. They are cons here and talked me into this. Seriously avoid this place!!!
Defiantly needs new equipment & about 30% of treadmills are broken. Weights & workout equipment very tight. (Not much room) also closing hours suck.Update 3/01/20 this place got a lot worse after my initial review. They upgraded my membership without asking to passport. Monthly billing went up from 19.99 to 54.99 within 3 years. I tried to cancel several times but they kept charging me for 3 months. It was a battle to end my membership & i was month to month. Also equipment is broken & in bad shape
Needs equip. (“machines replaced “) replaced more often/annually etc. Other than limited parking still almost as used to be- GOOD fitness club!
Been a member for less than a week. Equipment always crowded by people just sitting on them. The atomoshpere is not ideal for a decent workout. “Grunters” also attend this gym. My last workout I had to stop early due to an individual grunting on the top of his lungs and slamming weights. Terrible gym experience. Planning to cancel soon as I get a chance.

A decent organization would have consulted with past members before starting to resume billing. Understandably the club was closed during the covid restrictions. Many people’s circumstances have changed, we’ve moved. Decent people would have contacted the person before resuming billing. Next to impossible to cancel (can only do it with the manager who is never there- an obvious obstruction. How can people cancel if the club is closed. Calling next week for a refund before I move to legal action. Make sure you close your related credit card and stay away from an unscrupulous business like nysc.

I recently joined NYCS in Mamaroneck SPECIFICALLY for the babysitting hours. Sudden the hours have change and just one day out of the week is decent 5-830. Monday however is 9-1130. Whom in their right mind is bringing their kids to the gym at these hours!? New Rochelle and Larchmont however are still having RESONABLE hours during the week for parents looking for babysitting. Most of the gym equipment is STILL extremely out dated in Mamaroneck...
Friendly staff, but, Old machines that consistently need maintenance or are broken. Lack of parking.
Why am I still being charged the monthly amount if the establishment is closed?
Jan 2018: For over a month from Dec. thru Jan., there has been no heat in the room where they hold group classes. No large heaters were even brought in to help their clients. Ive made complaints at the front desk time and time again. So sorry to have to go to the internet to be heard. :-( 4/20/18: Now, its April, and the same story for two weeks. No heat. When you complain to the front desk, they state that corporate headquarters hasnt given them permission to fix the broken motor. Bad leadership at the corporate level and the local level.
Probably the worst gym In New York. Please save your money and avoid this gym they charge a 10$ fee just to cancel and still charge you for a month afterwords not to mention the gym itself is horrible and lacks equipment

The gym is an ok gym and is pretty close to me. Since my last rating the gym quality went down, alot more machines are out of order, they need more cleaning staff, also the steam room needs a remodel, theres two tile pieces missing on the seat, also the walls are pale yellow like it hasnt been scrubbed down in months and on the floor you can see alot of dirt marks, you can easily wipe it with your hand or towel, but the plus side is the staff there are very nice and understanding and will do there best about the steam room. That was over a month ago, I feel I pay a monthly due to go to this gym and the maintenance fee the middle of the year, why cant you just clean and fix the steamroom and your machines
Frauds. Do not join this gym. If I could submit this review without selecting any stars, then that is what I would have done. Rudest staff (with the exception of Nick). In the process of reporting them to the BBB for fraudulent charges.
Good community, and the gym has made a lot of improvements recently.

Old machines, run down, minimal parking
Over the years this place has lost quality in service and hygiene. It is very painful that instead of improving the service they have worsened it. It seems that the manager of this branch is charging his salary to damage the name of this prestigious chain. I do not usually make public complaints but whenever I have asked to speak with the manager it is never available.
