Mrs. Diana Patterson is a great stylist and very friendly and knowledgeable. The salon itself is beautifully designed.

I am a transplant from the Northeast (NJ/NY area) and was apprehensive in my search for a stylist who could handle my unruly hair. Search is over! It was my first visit to Styles of Madison and Anna went above and beyond. Such attention was given to detail in taming my nest of a mane that showed months of neglect due to quarantine. Not only is Anna an artist (see my photo) she is a total sweetheart! Highly recommend!

I wasnt sure exactly what I needed to cover a few grays, but she had a great solution that I did not even know about. She was also so easy to talk to! They took me for a last-minute appointment yesterday. Very nice, clean environment with friendly stylists! The lady who did my hair is definitely a perfectionist and really took her time to get it 100% right. I have a very short pixie cut that takes some finessing to look cute! She did a wonderful job, and I will definitely be back. Very reasonably priced as well. Definitely give them a try!

First time visit for me. Alyssa was my stylist and was super friendly and down to earth. I went in wanting a drastic change to my long hair that was more than halfway down my back. I told her I wanted collar bone length and she made sure I was completely comfortable and ready at least five times before she made the first cut. She did an awesome job and made sure everything was nice and even. It will definitely take some time getting used to but I love it! The salon was very clean, good lighting, and all around professional. I will absolutely be back again to see Alyssa!

Just got another great cut from Stephanie last week! Thank you very much!Stephanie cut my hair and did a great job. Robyn runs the place is wonderful as well. My next appointment is in three weeks, but they took me as a walk in customer this time. Love the service, love the flexibility, and the conversation was great. Stephanie listened to me when I explained my hair could not be too short or it would stick out on the side. She actually did the best job making it short like I wanted it without going so far it looked funny. That is a fine line with my thinning hair and she nailed it. These ladies have got skills!

Robyn spent a long time helping me to find the perfect style, making successive cuts to help me go from the long hair that Ive had all my life to a short style. She was very helpful in giving tips and suggestions for my body type and hair type, and we enjoyed the experience. Definitely worth going here for my transition to shorter hair.

Ive been going to Mitchell for years, I have my hair dyed bright red/Auburn when it is naturally jet black and everyone else that has ever attempted it has just ruined it. Mitch always gets my color and style perfect and most people cant believe it isnt my natural color hes a miracle worker.

I love this salon. I dont know why it would get bad reviews. I go there to have my brows done and the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. Anna, my stylist is friendly and very thorough and makes sure I like what she has done. The manager is very chatty and friendly to me and when I call for an appointment, they are very accomodating.

I had a wonderful experience! I let Robyn know about my bad experience at another salon and she made me feel incredibly comfortable, listening to what I wanted and offering great advice! As I get nearer to my wedding, I cant wait for my next appointment!

I have visited this establishment on two occasions and I just might make it my go-to salon. The culture in the salon is unique in the fact that many of the staff speak English as well as other languages. Elena, who I believe is from the Ukraine, was my stylist on both occasions, and while she is able to deliver one of the best haircuts I have enjoyed in quite some time, she is a perfectionist. So, you shouldnt plan on getting out in less than 30-minutes.

I am so happy I found Styles of Madison! Robin always takes time to know what I want before getting started. She fixed my bleach blonde and made it more natural looking despite the extra steps it took. I am always assured of a PERFECT hair cut! She is a perfectionist! All the stylists there are talented and friendly. I have seen other clients walk out looking great and satisfied! The interior has been remodeled and is beautiful! This place is amazing and the staff are all so friendly and welcoming. I hadnt found a permanent salon since moving here last year, but this is definitely it for me. Robyn the owner saw me late on a Friday evening and stayed until I was completely happy with my cut and color. I tried an ombre for the first time and she did amazingly. If youre looking for a friendly, hip, centrally located salon in Madison this is a great find!

The owner is nice, but this place is really old school. If you are 50+, its a lovely place to get your hair done the way you used to like it, but if youre younger you want something suited more to that age group. There really isnt any salon in the area that can do balayage, keratin/glossing, or hip cuts. Just the same highlighting techniques from the 80s and weird ostentatious teasing and bump-it kind of looks.

My stylist of 15 years retired a couple of years ago and I have been trying to find a stylist since then. I have traveled all over Huntsville, Athens & Decatur trying many different salons with no luck. Until about six months ago, when I was in one of those somebody-save-me hair moods and I walked into Styles of Madison because its so close to my home. Robyn, the owner, was kind enough to stay late and cut & style my hair and Ive been with her since then! Shes very much an artist with hair and very empathetic and listens carefully to what youre saying. Everyone at SOM is very professional and welcoming and seem very happy to be working there. Beautiful salon and always clean and nicely decorated. Its just an all-around wonderful special experience when I go there. I have very short hair but Robyn cuts it in a way that I can style it different ways and NEVER have to do it - I just wash & run! So happy to find my new hair-home!

ALYSSA is amazing!! Absolute talent! She started doing my difficult hair in 2006. Since then I have had long hair, short trendy cuts, brown hair, and blonde hair, and its ALWAYS PERFECT!! Exactly what I want everytime! She can perfectly achieve the most difficult tones. I always get compliments from total strangers on my cut, color, or BOTH! My mother and many friends have also been long time clients. Alyssa recently moved 2 hours north, but still makes a trip home once a month for us. If we are in need of something before then we glady make the drive. Ill never let anyone else touch my hair. She is TRULY worth the drive. She is very professional, and very down to earth. She cares about her clients and makes sure they are happy when the walk out the door. Alyssa is now at Styles of Madison in Madison, AL. As I came in, the other cosmetologists there were so sweet and very professional. They ALL spoke to me and welcomed me. Ill never go anywhere else!! 100% awesomeness!!

I went from shoulder blade length hair to an uber short pixie cut (drastic change that I had been planning for months). I brought in a picture of the type of cut I had in mind to help the conversation. Terry gave me fantastic advice and did an excellent job on the cut. I could not be happier with the service from everyone there and the final result!

Styles of Madison is my secret relaxation spot. I just love getting pampered here regularly. the Friendly welcoming staff makes me feel like family. the ladies always try and work me in even when I forget to make an appointment. The skill set is second to none. These Ladies saved my hair When Paul Mitchell School down the road colored my hair purple orange and burgundy when I asked for blonde highlights. Styles of Madison is a LIFESAVER or should I say HAIRSAVER! They worked a miracle with my rainbow hair disaster. I only trust Styles of Madison with my hair from now on. They also are very patient with children and picky husbands. Do not trust any other shop to touch your hair.

I usually tend to avoid confrontation of any kind, however, my experience here has left me, my fiancé, and my family upset about how my hair turned out after my first and only visit to this salon. Before I decided to call and make an appointment I went through salons in the area and read reviews to see who seemed to be the best bet. Now, I have someone who does my hair normally but she just had a baby and was unavailable. So I decided on coming here and giving it shot to have a backup artist. I guess thats the best way to explain it.Throughout the whole process I knew exactly what I wanted, I was going from long to pixie for a second time and I wanted to kind of revert back to what my hair was the first time I cut it all off. I had pictures on my phone, knew the guard sizes I wanted (had an undercut at the time of visit and was familiar with sizes due to that), and was hoping it would be a quick and easy process. Shave up to the part, cut the sides in a fade, and leave the top just long enough I can put it to either side, slicked back, or spiked up.When I left I was being compared to Elvis and johnny bravo, and I was quite unhappy with how it turned out and that I paid $42 to get not what I wanted, but what the artist wanted. He was afraid of using a low guard, didnt want the top as short as I was asking, and definitely used way too much product that my hair is sensitive to. Due to being on a time crunch (had an important meeting to attend) I paid the bill and left.For about a week after the visit the back of my head was still sore from the artist razoring my hair and being very rough with it. I had a bruise that was actually left behind from the experience. Its now been about three weeks since the visit and due to how butchered the back of my head is I have to lay my hair in an unnatural way leaving the swirl at the back of my head constantly tender and sore. Despite how much razoring was done to my hair and how much of it came off it is not blended very well at all. I have one chunk on the left side of my head that is way longer than the rest and is very noticeable if I go out with my natural part.I wanted to cut my hair off again because of the work I do. It would just be more convenient for me to have it short. But, since I decided on this salon I now spend more time than I ever have doing my hair every morning because its choppy, uneven, and has to be drenched in shaping wax to look presentable. Now I have seriously begun to debate whether or not I should just buzz it all one length and avoid the hassle of doing my hair every day. I am a college student who works overnights full time and I dont have much time or money to go back to the salon regularly let alone go back after I had a botch job done and am now having to try and put the money aside to get it fixed.I hope you shop around better than I did because you can definitely get a better haircut at a much better price by someone who will listen. My suggestion is to go to my regular artist Delaina, at Southern Bailes. That is her shop and I have trusted her with my hair for the last 6 years. I will never again step outside of who I normally go to.

Friend recently went to Mitchell for a hair cut . She knew the guard sizes she wan ted for her haur cut . The cut of her hair was still there frim another stylist. All she wanted was to keep the shape it was Just TRIMMED !! Mitchell did not listen to her instructions at all he did what he wanted to do . OMG choppy, uneven and told her he knew what was best .NOT. Her stylist just had a baby and was going to an interview... sooo much spray applied, had to wash her hair before going to interview . I thought you were paying for what you asked for NOT what he felt liked doing .While razoring her hair last week, her head is still tender to the touch and she does NOT have a tender scalp . If someone will not listen to what you want done, and its your money pay8ng for the cut RUN !

I called to get an appointment to fix a hair cut I received in Peru. I got an appointment in 2 hours. When I went in, a stylist by the name of Stephanie greeted me and said she was going to be my stylist. She said to fix the previous cut, shed have to cut my hair dry. I didnt like the dry cut plan. I have extremely thick hair, enough for three heads. Its wavy as well. She also said she should nip it in the ends to thin it. I got the feeling she didnt have a lot of experience. I asked if she was experienced & she & two other stylists (who were hovering around) informed me that everyone in the salon was qualified to cut my hair. Stephanie tried to comb my thick wavy hair with a comb and it hurt so I told her so. She said she must comb out the tangles. I suggested she use a brush instead. (I had driven my convertible that day.) Finally I came right out her and asked exactly how much experience she had (with two other stylist coaching her). I found out she had just gotten out of school. (This all took about 10 minutes of appointment time.)Now I wouldnt mind that she had no experience normally, but I was there to fix a bad hair cut and I wanted someone with lots of experience. So Robyn, the owner, said shed fix my hair. In a mere 20 minutes, Robyn washed my hair and cut it. When she sectioned it to cut, she didnt use any clips. (Ive had my hair sectioned and cut many times. My experience is that the good ones use clips.) However, I never saw anyone grab as big of sections of hair as she did. She cut my hair in a total of 6 sections, going around my head. Each section was all of the hair, top to bottom. I asked why she was sectioning my hair in such big sections. She said It doesnt matter. It will all look the same in the end.So in 20 minutes, Robyn washed and cut my hair. I opted not to blow dry. I paid her $22 plus tip. My hair IS better than before, but I feel that if Robyn had taken the time to give me a more precise cut, it would have looked a LOT better. I dont know if she was mad because I asked for an experience stylist or if she was in a hurry because she had another appointment at 3:00. My appointment was at 2:30 and I walked out of there at 3:00, washed & cut.I think this place is OK. They are all master stylist (according to their website) except for Stephanie, who may be good too. I just wanted my haircuts fix to be from a master stylist.UPDATE:Im downgrading this salon from 3 to 2 stars. In the last 24 hours, Robyn has both called and texted me, badgering me about my review. She says I shouldve asked for a master stylist to begin with and that I knew Stephanie was not one. (I had just asked for an appointment to fix a bad haircut from S America & they assigned Stephanie.) I caught on to the fact Stephanie was new by the behavior of the other stylists, hovering around. When I came home and looked at their website, I saw her name & that she was the ONLY junior stylist employed there. I had made my appointment based on Google reviews, but only went to their website afterward: my mistake probably.Anyway, it is poor form for the owner to call and text me about my neutral review. Mind you, she didnt offer to make it right, but instead she blamed me for getting Stephanie (I only knew her name from the website, after the appointment, not before); she defended her non-use of clips and she said she had taken more time than 20 minutes to cut my hair, stating it took her 15 to wash it. If thats so, then it took her only 5 minutes to cut it because I looked at my clock in the car when I left & it was 3:00.So really?? Wow, whats up with this? Robyn, if you want to improve your ratings, try making things right by inviting a client back & fixing things, not by calling & texting and hounding folks. I mightve gone back there but after this, I will not. Very uncomfortable.P.S. DONT give them your real phone number because if you give an honest review that is not 4 or 5 stars, Robyn might call & text you about it.
