This place was awesome. Had an oil change and new plugs done. I can’t believe how cheap and fast they were. The women I talked to and dealt with were so friendly and seemed very knowledgeable (and funny). I overheard a conversation with another customer and they were doing a great job explaining everything to the young lady who admitted she knew absolutely nothing about cars. I have complete confidence in this place and they do not push unnecessary work. I totally trust this place. They definitely earned my business in the future. Thanks!

Ive never had a mechanic I could actually trust, until I found Dutches. They are as honest as they come! I brought in an estimate for repairs that a dealership gave me (they wanted 4,000$ for misc. work). After Nan checked my car and reviewed all the concerns with me, she helped me prioritize what needed to be done - one of the more expensive items that the dealership recommended wasnt even necessary to repair! Ive gone back for oil changes, tires, brakes, and everything in between. Do yourself a favor and make Dutches your go-to mechanic!! You wont regret it.

I suspected I had a tie rod issue and called Dutchs to make an appointment. The earliest they could get me in was a little more than a week from then, but they told me if at any point I felt unsafe driving I could drop my car off and theyd try to work on it in between appointments. I ended up dropping my car off a week before my appointment. They fixed it that same day. I continue to be in awe of their transparency, prompt work, and superior customer service. It can be difficult to find a mechanic you trust, and Im confident Dutchs will be that mechanic for you, as they are for me. I highly recommend them.

They did work I didnt ask them to and the work I wanted done did not get completed without complaints. They called me a liar, the owner that is, and demanded I pay for the work they did. Work that wasnt needed and I never asked them to do. I refused and said take your parts back then and fix what I asked. They did but told me my business was no longer welcome. Also the technician I talked to isnt the same person who did the work. Poor communication as well.

Excellent service, very professional. Exactly what Im looking for when going to an auto-mechanics. Got my timing belt / pump and coolant replaced and for a real good price! They even fixed my trunk key lock free of charge.

We’re so fortunate to have Dutch’s in our neighborhood and city! I’ve had wonderful experiences here with both our vehicles. One is old, one is new, both VWs (this place is VW friendly, some shops are weird about it) Dutch’s staff have explained what needs to be fixed, what can wait/what is coming, and given honest accurate estimates. Additionally, everyone is kind. I’ve had experiences at other auto repair places where I’ve been treated like I’m inconveniencing someone (who is literally at work!) and generally felt talked down to, probably taken advantage. Post-pandemic, I hope they have the car care classes that were posted on the chalk board. I didn’t get a chance before but would love to take them!!

I was recently referred to Dutchs Auto Service by a family member who raved about the amazing service and friendly atmosphere. I easily set up an appointment by phone, and when I arrived, they got my car in the shop on time. Within 45 minutes, my oil was changed, my tires rotated, fluids topped and I was given a quick synopsis of the future of my brakes. Everyone was extremely friendly, there was no pressure to have any additional work done, and the prices were extremely fair. Have been here multiple times for repairs on my older vehicle. I appreciate the straight-forward, no-nonsense attitude and willingness to explain more complex problems. Had a larger repair done once and Nan took the time to show me the old parts and point out what had failed, why, and the diagnostic symptoms.

There is a reason why their reviews are so high, this is truly a great garage. Its the kind of place you hope to find to bring your car. They are always great at being up front about cost and what they can or cant do. If your car has a problem or needs something that they dont do there, theyll help you find a place that will. Nan will take the time to explain to you what is going on with your car on the phone or in person. Their prices are extremely reasonable, and they wont nickel and dime you. Theyll do the necessary repair work, and then advise a few things you may want done soon. Honestly, the only negative is that they are so good that they book up fast. I am glad I found this garage and highly recommend you check it out.

A year ago I gave them five stars, but things seem to have changed. Took a long time just to get in and then the service was not the same quality. They didnt even try to give me an estimate -- its an old car, so maybe they choose to do simpler work because theyre so busy? I highly recommend Dutchs Auto to everybody!I took my 1998 Honda Civic there when it was having severe performance and gas mileage issues (and the check engine light was on). They diagnosed it as a cracked catalytic converter that needed to be replaced. I had actually already read the check engine code off previously, and knew that it was related to the catalytic converter, so I had already gotten estimates. The place I normally take my car to in Verona estimated ~$1,000 to do the replacement; Dutchs was able to fully replace the catalytic converter, change the oil, and change the brakepads for half of that! Nan showed the catalytic converter to me after they replaced it, and it had a huge crack along the side of it. She explained the effect that had on the engine; I really like that they take the time to explain these sorts of things.I also took my wifes Ford Escape Hybrid there when there was an issue with her steering column (it was making a clicking noise when turning). Nan gave me a call and let me know that they were unable to diagnose the issue due to their unfamiliarity with hybrid internals, and they wouldnt charge me for their time looking into it. I appreciated their honesty in admitting that - better than a mechanic messing around when they dont know what theyre doing and breaking something.I also recommended them to my brother when his car needed an oil change and his brakes looked at, and they did a great job for him as well.The only minor knock I have is that I had to call and check on the status of my car after about a week of not hearing anything back, which I think is probably due to how busy they are due to the excellent work they do and their very reasonable prices. Very much worth the minor hassle for me!

The level of professionalism at Dutch’s is incredible. They diagnosed a complex issue with my Jeep and gave me options on how to fix it without breaking the bank. They educated me every step of the way when they easily could have taken advantage of how little I knew about the problem.

This place is really great along with the humans that run it. I had a punctured tire and took it to a near by chain shop to get it repaired and the person at that chain tried severely over charging me for tires. I did some shopping around and talked to a friend of mine, who also owns a body shop, and he recommended me to Dutch’s. They got me in right away, we talked about my budget and what I use my vehicle for, and then the same day they hooked me up with all new, AFFORDABLE, tires. I will be going back to them for all of my future service needs. I cant recommend them enough, seriously such great people and such great work.

I was so thankful to find Dutchs Auto Service. The excellent reviews we saw online proved to be true in person. Crystal willingly looked at our van when we pulled in with our breaks squealing and grinding and fixed them and changed our oil for $50-$100 less than we were quoted at our other mechanic. She also gave us wise advice about upcoming repairs we could wait to have done. I would suggest calling ahead for an appointment before taking your vehicle in, but I think we have finally found a place in Madison we can trust to get the best care for our cars. I highly recommend these mechanics.

Customer-first service.The folks at Dutchs auto care about the relationship with customers. They have recommended fixes for my Subaru that made riding much easier, while not selling me more than I want or need. They understand the there are a lot of ways to be a car owner.They are accommodating and affordable!

All I can say is that the folks at Dutchs are the most honest and committed mechanics Ive ever had the pleasure of taking my truck to. If they can do it, theyll quote you a fair and accurate price, and if its not their wheelhouse, or its just not a good idea, theyll tell you. The one caveat is that they are consistently busy, and they prioritize the work, so theyre not going to drop everything just because the job is urgent for you. Depending on the nature of the job, you also might find that you want to follow up with them for updates, since as I said, they prioritize the work and the work is high quality at the best price youll find. I wouldnt want to take my 92 Toyota Truck anywhere else in Madison.

A co-worker recommended Dutchs. One of the things that appealed to me was the fact that its owned by two women. After having my car worked on today (needed a new exhaust line), I experienced first-hand what so many people are raving about. Every member of the shop was incredibly friendly and informative. I waited for my repair for about two-hours (didnt mind as I had work from the day job to focus on), and during that time the staff chatted with me here and there, I had a cute, friendly dog to pet occasionally, and when it came time to pay I had a significantly smaller bill than what I was quoted with an additional repair that was noticed by the mechanic who installed my exhaust line. My prior mechanic never noticed the ongoing problem, but Dutchs was thorough and only notified me of what was necessary to fix at a very reasonable cost. Ive found my new auto service for any future needs. Highly recommended.

When i went to get my car back, i noticed they left my car on and the lights on, which drained my battery. Causing me to need a jump.Also I have a leak of antifreeze that they just ignored so now i have to go back and spend more money rather than them fixing it when they had my car for a week.Not satisfied at all.

This is my new go-to place for car repairs. They are super helpful. Very trustworthy. They only do exactly what they need to do and dont do anything without asking. They would rather educate you then try to sell you something.

Nan (and company) were great. They werent able to fix my problem but gave good advice and suggested where to go if I decided to continue with a repair. It was nice to have someone explain the process they take and problems they found in a manner that wasnt confusing. Also, they dont sell your information to other companies, which is a rarity. Excellent auto service. The crew at Dutchs not only does solid work, and fair prices—they also discuss no-pressure options with you and provide you with honest advice plus training for your auto. As an example, the tie rod outers on my vehicle were approaching the need to replace them, but I also needed to buy new tires. I wanted to split the purchases over two months due to budget. There was a great tire sale coming up at Farm & Fleet, and I spoke with them that I wanted to take advantage of that. They understood, and cautioned me that there would be pressure to also do a tire alignment at that time, but since I knew I wanted to replace the tie rods in another month or so, I should wait and save the cost to do it after the tie rods are replaced, because thats when an alignment must be done. At Farm & Fleet, the tires were cheap, but I got a scare-tactic sales approach telling me that my tire warranty would be voided if I didnt replace my tie rod inners & outers right away and get an alignment done. Because Dutchs had prepared me to know more about my vehicle, I was able to ask them better questions and find out that only the outers were worn, and just to the point of recommending replacement soon, though it wasnt an immediate problem after all, and the tire warranty would only be an issue if I ran for quite awhlie with worn out tie rods, not a month with my limited driving. Big thanks to Dutchs, to whom Im taking my car for the tie rods and all future service in Madison. I look forward to taking one of their car-care classes!

This is my go to shop, I trust the employees at Dutchs completely. They communicate well, and wont try to oversell you on a repair. Clean show room and well maintained shop, with excellent customer service. Quality work and repairs. It is a relief having a reliable and honest shop.

My first visit at Dutchs was amazing! I had them do a general check up on a few things that I thought were wrong with my car. They were very receiving to my concerns and easy to talk to. After about 30/45min they not only diagnosed my car, but even made some little tweeks at no extra cost. They wrote down, in order of importance, everything that needed to be fixed, described in detail how the parts worked and what was wrong with them, and gave me an honest quote on each fix! No gimmicks, just some good honest help. I have never felt so welcome at an auto shop and am actually excited to go back and start getting my car back into shape!Side perk, they have coloring books and a cute pup in the waiting room!

I would rate Dutchs as the best Auto Repair service that I have ever taken my car to. We were moving cross country from Washington State. In the middle of our trip, our 2007 Hyundai Elantra was making a terrible knocking noise when turning the steering wheel. We took it Dutchs and I could not have been more happy or satisfied as a customer with their help. Since it could not be fixed in one day and the parts were not on hand so we dropped off our car and continued the rest of our trip for another 500 miles. Then drove back several days later to pick up our car. We were not over charged, they fixed the problem and they they took care of us. They are small shop with a big heart to take care of their customers. If you are looking for superb quality service and customer care then I Dutchs Auto Service is the place to go.

I made an appointment with them. Went in to be told they ordered the wrong part and they would call me when they got the correct part. Ok, no big deal. They never called and wont return my calls. So, I just fixed it myself.

I am just back to Madison after a year of driving North America in my 2015 Honda Fit. Had a recent bad experience at Zimbrick, and was hoping good things from this local, female-run shop. I will say that Nan was not rude, more that she was unable to listen. She ignored potentially valuable clues I provided (the noise has happened for years, but is increasing in severity) and used false information as the basis for her incorrect diagnosis. She mockingly dismissed my saying that my brother (a phenomenal and extremely well-respected mechanic in CA) heard the noise and had posited a guess. She did not read the mileage correctly (currently 67,494) and said I was overdue for an oil change (I’m at 90%. It was changed a few weeks ago), and the engine is “starved for oil” (noise only happens at start up, the reason I left it with them overnight so it could be tried first thing). Extremelydisappointed by this experience. I really hoped they were going to nail it.Update: I easily got a diagnosis on the issue from another shop. It’s the VTC actuator, apparently a very common problem in Honda’s.
