Ive been to a variety of gyms and this is hands down the best Ive ever been to. Frank treats you like youre family. This gym is spotless, including the locker rooms and sauna. The members are friendly and all have a common desire in achieving a great workout and their overall fitness goals. You dont get 4 people standing around one machine on their cell phones like a lot of other gyms. Theres sort of a no BS vibe which definitely appealed to me.

New to the area from Lake Orion, I was astonished by the customer service and the accommodation made by the staff. I was provided with a quick tour and was repeatedly asked if I had any questions. The gym as a whole is as sanitary as can be, which is what drove me to become a member, given the current circumstances. The equipment is in excellent condition, where there are a variety for each muscle group. This has definitely become my new happy place!

Easily one of the worst customer service experiences Ive had, and I dont complain easily. Messaged them on FB, they asked for a number and said they would call but didnt. Im new to the area, but traveling all of July, and back in August, so I wanted to get set up for two weeks to start. They wouldnt say the prices, said to Stop by we can workout something. Stopped by, no greeting when I walked in, said membership was $70. He then gruffly asked if I had workout clothes. (I did in the car, but some gyms dont care which is part of *why Id wanted to talk to someone in the first place*) I asked about a one-time trial before committing. Fifteen dollars he replied. (Awfully steep if youre trying to bring in new customers.) I showed him the guest pass offer online, he said no, someone has to call me first and set that up, so a workout today would be fifteen dollars. If that was the case, I told him Id do something else. Okay, he said without looking up, and went back to his work. Im honestly appalled that they can afford to be this rude to potential new customers. I talked to the branch in Troy, they were much friendlier, but still charged $15 for a trial. Motor City charges half the price, couldnt have been more friendly by phone, and offered for me to stop by for a trial when they open in July. At this point, Id sooner pay someone else than workout here for free. Unbelievable.

Edit: after writing my initial review below I received a call from the owner. He was very kind and politely explained that the reason that was given to me about the Sauna hours was incorrect. In fact the reason for the Sauna being open for staffed hours only has to do with how the insurance works. This reason I can get behind and understand. Since everything else at this gym is great I decided to change my review accordingly.I recently joined this gym Specifically to use the equipment as well as the sauna. The problem is, I assumed since the gym is 24hrs that the sauna would be too. I was wrong. The sauna is only open during staffed hours, which doesn’t work for me because I typically work out late in the evening, so I never get to use the sauna, which was one of the main reasons I chose this gym. I asked why the sauna was closed and the person working the desk told me it was because they couldn’t trust people not to put water on the rocks when they are there, but what keeps people from doing it while they are there. The explanation doesn’t make sense and it just irritates me. Overall, besides the sauna disappointment the gym is well kept and has lots of good equipment and weights.

Cleanest gym in the U.S period must members have gym Etiquette and it’s 24 seven for a very very cheap price I don’t know how they stay in business but I’m not complaining.

Im a competitive bodybuilder in the NPC (National Physique Committee).Powerhouse Gym of Madison Heights has proved very helpful in both my off-season training and in my contest prep. The 24/7 access is a lifesaver during prep, when you often need to get in 2 or more workouts per day.The equipment is scrupulously maintained. An example is the pulley stations. The handles are metal, which I strongly prefer to the plastic and fabric handles some other gyms have. But more than that, the moving parts are well-maintained and lubricated at all times. I belong to another gym in Livonia, and only about half of the resistance on their pulleys comes from the weight stack. The rest comes from friction, because the thing has not seen a drop of lubricant since 1985. No such problems at Powerhouse Madison Heights - all equipment is well maintained.I also tend to use the Smith Machine for several exercises. My previous gym in Royal Oak only had one Smith Machine, and sometimes a guy would hog it for 45 to 60 minutes, doing his entire workout there. The Madison Heights Powerhouse has, I think, 6 Smith Machines. In all the years Ive been going there, I never had to wait for one.Everything is kept extremely clean and sanitary. The members are good about wiping down their equipment after use, and there are also hand sanitizer stations in the gym.As a bonus, the dry sauna will take the chill out of your bones on those cold Michigan mornings, before you start your workout.

Cleaner than any LA Fitness or lifetime. Random crowd, but that’s the character of this place. Frank treats you like family. These guys have been in business for decades Bc not only do they treat you like family, they offer a great gym at a fair price. Everything you need for a quick and efficient workout.

Best Gym around ! Super clean and the best machines, Cybex and Precor machines. Locker rooms are super clean as well. Friendly people and Frank the owner always greets you with a hello by name. Plenty of free weights and benches if you are into that. I cant say enough good things about this place.

Gym was ok. Manager is the sleazy type that will attempt to squeeze every penny out of you if you dont stand your ground. And yes they will continue billing your credit/debit card for months after leaving.

Great gym. Equipment is clean and organized. Open 24 hours a day. Staff is nice, available, but not in the way. Trainers in the gym dont overtake areas or equipment as is the case in some establishments.Peak hours get crowded, but not to the level that are seen at many places.I was a member of this gym for 7 years, and canceled my membership due to a relocation. 5 months in and I miss this place. Great gym, and for the money, it cant be beat.

I am a woman. I have always felt pretty comfortable at this gym. The only awkwardness I have ever experienced has been from the owner (who meant well) coming over to tell me about a guy that he saw talking to me. I took over a deadlfit area from a guy and when I was done he came back to help me put the weights away as he originally took them down. Then the owner immediately came over very obviously and proceeded to warn me about the guy. He who gossips to you, will gossip about you.Other than that, TRX straps would be nice, an ab dolly, and some other basic equipment.

Overall this is a good, old school gym. Both the locker room and gym area are always clean. Good equipment, the free weights are in good condition, the TVs are tuned to sports and only sports, 24-hour access, friendly staff, and everyone at this gym are for the most part are friendly and easy going.I just wish they had a little more room where you can do plyometric workouts like your box jumps etc.

Love this gym been going here for 2.5 years. Frank the Manager doesn’t wash his hands after using the restroom though. I’ve seen this in the locker room 3 times times within the 2019 year coming here daily, gym appears clean but probably isn’t 🤮

Old equipment. Too tight, no room to train. staff is horrible. Expansive of what they got to offer. Pay 5$ more and go somewhere better.Because you are going to pay yearly fee different than the monthly fee.

Absolutely love this gym. The facility is spacious and CLEAN, with more than enough equipment to accommodate class and open gym. The coaches are knowledgeable.

Absolutely horrible gym. No one wipes off the equipment. “Powerhouse” yet you cant deadlift. Unbelievable. DO NOT come here. There are plenty gyms in the area that have better equipment and customer service.

Everything the trainer & staff are great people.

Its to cold in here get motivated into a good workout. Even during the summer working up a sweat can make you sick.

I went in hurting bad, but after about 2 weeks started to hurt less. My physical therapist there, Gretchen was great and a very nice person to. Happy to say im getting alot better.

WARNING Do not come here. After I received a new debit card powerhouse Madison heights called visa asking for my info AFTER MY MEMBERSHIP ENDED BUT THEY TRIED TO TELL ME ITS RECURRING. Nope powerhouse you went out of your way AFTER my membership was finished to take more money out of my account.
