Good luck applying to this Company. The only notification you will receive from this HR is that they received your application. I applied for the Program Director Position and they say it requires a bachelors and that is not true. They decided to move forward with an internal (Boss and current person who is a PD are friends since high school.) The person does not have any bachelors. Second time I applied for the position they mentioned they preferred to move forward with a woman. That is understandable given the house was for pregnant teens. The third time I applied, the recruiter asked me to come to an interview that same day within 15 minutes if i really wanted a job. Their hiring process is very shady. I am really shocked the government has not looked into them. I would not recommend applying.
Not a good experience. They are suppose to help you. Instead cause you more stress by putting you in places that are no safe for children. Places were you worry for your family. Places that are not in livable conditions. Places that have bed bugs rats an more. I was placed in a shelter an the location an building were horrible. My kids are scared they cant even walk in from the school bus alone because the scary creepy people around. Then the first 2 weeks the whole place flooded an all our stuff was ruined an they didnt offer any help in replacing anything. The couch is moldy now. Nor did they try hard enough to help me find permanent housing. Hopefully i have found my own place an will be out of here asap. This has been a nightmare an being sent to these people just made it worse.
Its all about the numbers. Centerboard is not worried about the families. Centerboard gives no training and gives a new employee a caseload of 10-11 families with No Training . When a family does have to use home-base, management will allow a head of household sign the other adult and/or spouses name on lease which is illegal and unethical. The scattered sites Ive witnessed are not in the best conditions. I have witnessed mice holes and dead roaches before placing a family. Its disgusting. Centerboard will never know how a homeless family will ever feel unless they experienced a rough situation or a similar. Theres a lot of turnover. That should state a lot about the organization. What are they doing wrong that a family has to have two to three different family advocates/case manager(s).
Grateful for centerboard and all of their help with finding me permanent housing
Centerboard staff is very friendly and informational. I enjoy working with them and hope to find permanent housing.
I had a terrible experience with this shelter provider. In 2015, I applied for emergency shelter assistance due to the fact that I fell ill with a disease and could no longer work. I got placed in a scatter site which was an apartment at 28 Hollingsworth in Lynn Ma with Centerboard. My caseworker was Jackie D.Upon arriving to the unit, I realized that it was in an utter state of filth. It was crawling with bed bugs, dust mites, rats, mice, and a few cats. There was fecal matter and urine everywhere including above the kitchen cabinets and in the oven broiler. Yes, piles of fecal matter in the broiler. There was dust everywhere. No heat, broken fixtures. Blood, stains, cigarette burns, and god knows what else on the mattresses which the caseworker kept oddly stating were new, when they clearly were not. I have photographs saved on an SD card. I brought all of this to the attention of my caseworker, whom I was hoping would address the issues as I am aware she is supposed to, who responded with Hope you know how to clean on one occasion and Im glad Im not homeless on another. Horrendous.I have a disease so I could not live like that, it was making me even more sick, as this disease has to do with my immune system. So, I called the City of Lynn Department of Health. A man came very promptly and deemed the unit unfit for human habitation, nearly immediately and held his nose the entire time. This action, and confirmation from the health inspector allowed me to be transferred a different shelter. However the caseworker did not appreciate my going over her head and TERMINATED me. This is the second time I have personally experienced this type of abuse of power from a caseworker who would rather put a family on the street than admit wrongdoings and face what ever consequence that they would face (and rightfully deserve, because they do receive massive funding to clean up these units, so where did that money go? Why didnt they just provide a clean safe environment to begin with?) I do not understand how this type of behavior is accepted. She attempted to get me to sign a paper agreeing that I was being terminated for missing appointments but, I did not sign because upon reading the document, I realized two pages were missing, right where it was supposed to explain why I was being terminated. Additionally I obviously did not agree with this termination. Instead, I wrote I am not signing this document because my reason for being terminated is not listed here and I do not agree with his termination due to my previous request to be placed in a clean safe environment. It was not until I received paperwork to file an appeal that I saw her falsified documents. This termination made my family homeless with no shelter for approximately one month until my appeal was filed and my clam was heard (and approved). We were placed in different shelter thereafter. The shelter system in Boston is broken and this type lf abuse from caseworkers is common as I have discussed this with other homeless families. Additionally, just because a family is facing a hardship, does not mean that they deserve to live in filth, literally deemed unfit for human habitation. I hope someone reads this someday and does something about it, because as a homeless person, you can see my voice is not being heard and theres really not more we can do except keep talking about our experiences and Keep writing letters to politicians
